I have been thing about getting into shape recently. I don't think I look terrible right now, but I have never really been "fit" before... so I kinda wanna see how that feels. I also like testing my determination, and I hear it takes a lot of willpower to go to the gym. Also I think they have showers there so I can get a lower water bill.   Do any of you guys do the gym thing? Any advice?

This question may be an exercise in nothing other than fantasy, but I thought I'd ask it anyway: do you guys (those of you who still browse and post) think that there's any chance of growing OB again?   I ask this question because even after all this time, it amazes me that there are still people who post and lurk here. In fact, I'm kind of amazed that OB is even still online. Considering the earliest version started circa-1998, that would make the community a whopping 16 years old!   That almost makes this place truly archaeological in Internet terms!   Clearly, we still have a huge history of great content on here (everything from Graphic Worm to our RPGs). It's great to preserve that, but is there anything we can do to build the site up again?   Bulletin boards seem to be a dying breed - or at least, that's what I first thought, except that there are still some great bulletin boards out there.   What do you guys think?

Most people who regularly browse the internet watch YouTube, but what gets watched tends to vary from person to person. I think it might be interesting to find out what your top three favorite youtube channels are.  You can also give a quick description or why you like them if you want.   My favorite is Idea Channel. Occasionally Mike willl cover anime and games (which is how I found the channel) but really what draws me is the philosophy he correlates to modern culture. He kinda has a Vsauce/vlogbrothers kinda style, but his content is less science and more conjecture.   I also really like Game Theory. Overspeculation is the name of the game. Matt strings together game information from any legitimate source, no matter how rediculious the figures become in order to make a compelling point. Usually this makes the physics of game worlds crumble... but sometimes he creates possible conspiracy theory storylines which I tend to believe.   Lastly Veritasium is something I always wait for. I paid attention in physics class so I haven't learned much from the channel scientificlaly, but I love watching Derek teach strangers about the rules that govern our universe. I have used his methods to teach my 8 year old cousin about inertia, my 6 year old cousin about gravity, and my grandpa about global warming.   If you don't have a favorite channel you can post favorite videos instead!

35.833/100 Masculine 80/100 Feminine and 56.667 Androgynous.   Those are my somewhat suprising scores from a Bem Sex-Role Inventory test. I already knew I never felt all that masculine, but the large gap between it and my feminine score shows how one sided my identity seems to be.   I have never looked much into this because I am attracted to females, and though I have thought about intimate relationships with other males, its never been sexual. Essentially I thought that I have the right tool for the job, even though my gender identity was messed up a bit.   This test is old, and I may have some conformation bias... but I do think its cool to have data on this. I think its given me some information about myself that I overlooked.

We lament a lot about the 'pace' of the world and how everything is speeding up with e-mails and texts and twitter, and so on. And I'm a staunch defender of modern technology; it lets me speak to my family halfway around the world, let me carry on a long-distance relationship for a couple of months with as little disruption as possible, and lets me find ways to put my thoughts into actions as quickly as I have thoughts.    Having said that, though, I am starting to come around to the idea that Google killed conversation. When was the last time that you had a discussion, an argument, a debate about some obscure topic and the question, almost as soon as it was raised, was responded with "Oh, let me google that!" -- and the answer provided in 60 seconds (105 seconds if you have a slow connection) ?    I'm pretty sure I did that yesterday, so I'm not trying to pretend that I'm not a culprit. And it's handy having the information at your fingertips -- there has been more than one occasion where I truly enjoyed shooting down my flatmate's stupid idea with a simple swipe of my fingers.    But having said that, recently the boyfriend and I have been 'doing brunch'. It's something we've started because we're both working, and I'm starting a new job that is quite honest about the crazy hours required, and it gives us 'alone' time where I'm not worried about whether or not the kitchen is clean on a Saturday morning.    So we brunch. And we've now got this unspoken rule that, if we are having brunch, the phones stay at home. And suddenly our world just sort of opened up to this long forgotten art of debate for debate's sake, rather than to answer a question. Verbally sparring is fun again, which I never realised I missed until I found it.   In conclusion: next time you head to dinner or whatever, ban the phones and see where it leads! Or tell me about what else google has ruined for you. Or what you think of the modern day conversation. Let's be honest -- even the vaguest link to this topic would work. Heh. 

FINAL SCORE: NE 28 SEA 24 That was, without a doubt, one of the best games I have ever watched. Except for that fight right at the end, truly worthy of the legacy of the title history. Both teams played their hearts out, and those last two 4th Quarter drives were absolutely ******* incredible. The last two plays of Seattle's drive were especially nuts. Seattle should not have held onto the football to get that 1st and Goal, and New England should not have been able to intercept it on the one yard line (or, alternatively, the Seahawks should have run with Lynch instead of passing, but whatever). I don't remember having this much fun watching a professional sports game since I got to see the Carolina Hurricanes take the Stanley Cup way back in .... oh man, 2006, wasn't it? I had just graduated high school. Criminy, that was almost a decade ago now. Anyway, no. Incredible, incredible game. The Patriots have proven themselves again, and absolutely no one can talk **** about Seattle having a freak program after taking their conference championship and then playing New England down to the absolute wire. Great football programs, great teams, great game, magnificent Sunday evening.

This post made me totally happy.
