Discuss Professor Oak's Lab [Pokemon Legacies Underground] [PG]
GuyYouMetOnline replied to Doublehex's topic in Theater
Okay, Gym question. It's been mentioned several times now that the Veridian City Gym is closed. Who's going to be the Gym Leader? Or do you even know? And if you don't want to tell us, then that's fine. Oh, and if you don't have any ideas, I hapen to have one. PM me if you want to learn more. -
Aesera got to her feet shortly after Oak's speach. She didn't have to think about what to do; she'd already known that she wanted to be a trainer. So she got up and located her supplies. She took her pack back into the meeting room, sat back down, and went through the pack, examining its contents. Aesera was pleased with what the pack contained. Most anything she thought she'd need was in there, including food, basic trainer supplies, and, of course, a Pokedex, which Aesera placed in her pocket so that she could grab it quickly. There was also camping equipment, as well as several other useful items. It didn't have everything Aesera wanted, but she'd brought a good deal of cash with her, so she could buy anything else that she'd need. By the time she was done taking inventory, Aesera was alone in the meeting room. She put everything back in her back and closed it up. She put it on her back and exited the house. Aesera went straight to the local trainer mart to buy a few items, then stoped at the local store for a few extra supplies. She also bought herself a hiking stick and some clothing for different climates. With her shopping done, Aesera was ready to begin her journey as a Pokemon trainer. She set out from Pallet at a rather leisurely pace, as she had no desire to rush through her journey. Hurrying from place to place, she believed, would lessen the experience of the journey, and Aesera wanted to have the full experience. There were quite a few wild Pokemon on the route, mainly Pidgey, Spearow, and Ratata, though there were also some Ekans about. Aesera ignored most of them, and they ignored her. There were, however, a couple occasions on which Spearow decided to come at her. Aesera took advantage of these opportunities to get Absol some battle experience, and of course she benefited from the encounters as well, as she and Absol began learning how to work as a team during battle. Aesera didn't catch any Pokemon; she wanted to get used to being a trainer and gain experience with Absol before going after other Pokemon. Quality, she knew, was more important than quantity. As the day wore on, Aesera began looking for a good place to spend the night. She wasn't too concerned, though. In fact, she thought she'd enjoy walking a little into the night, which she did. She took a break to eat, and let Absol out for some food as well, but she resumed her travels afterwards. It was pretty late by the time Aesera came across one of the people who had been at Oak's place earlier. As she drew closer, she recognized him as the one who'd introduced himself as Matt. He and his Pokemon partner were atempting to set up camp for the night. "Hello there," Aesera said as she walked up to Matt. "You're Matt, right? I'm Aesera. We met at Oak's earlier today." "Yeah, I remember you," Matt replied. "The quiet girl in the corner. You didn't say too much." "I was spending the time thinking," Aesera explained. "This isn't going to be an easy journey, you know. I was thinking about what it'd be like, being a Pokemon trainer." "You knew why we were at Oak's before he told us, then?" Matt asked. Aesera nodded. "Yeah. My brother, Rorohiko, is a good friend of Oak's, and he knew what Oak was planning. He dropped me enough hints to make it painfully obvoius. So yes, I knew what to expect from Oak. And now I'm on my first journey as a Pokemon trainer. And so are you." "Yeah," Matt said. "I'm not off to a very good start, though. I just spent two hours going around in a big circle." "Tried to take a shortcut through the forest, right?" Aesera guessed. Matt nodded. "Yeah. I thought it'd get me to Veridian faster, but instead I spend two hours to get right back to where I started." "Ah, don't worry about it," Aesera said. "Those things happen. Besides, shorter isn't always better. Me, I'm taking my time on this journey. That's probably why I'm only as far as you when you spent two hours going nowhere. Well, maybe it's all for the better. I think some company on this journey would be nice, and we're both going to the same place, so how about we go together? Besides, this looks like a good spot to camp, so I'll be with you for tonight. And tomorrow, I say we set off together. What do you think?" ------------------------------------------------------ OOC: Well, Doublehex? Oh, and please tell me if I got your character too wrong.

Aesera watched as the others reentered to meeting room one by one. How many of you let the Pokemon choose? she wondered to herself. How many of you put the Pokeball down and let the Pokemon choose? Maybe some of you did, but I think the majority of you did things the normal way, by throwing the Pokeball at the Pokemon you wanted. ell, I suppose I shouldn't judge anyone by that. After all, it's just how things are done. That needs to change, but until it does, I can't really blame anyone for catching their Pokemon. Aesera could hear her brother right now. "Your Pokemon aren't actually yours," he would say. "They're with you, but they are not yours. You do not own them, so don't treat them like you do. Let them make their own choices, and if a Pokemon doesn't want to travel with you, do not force it to. If a Pokemon would be happier in the wild, then release it. Pokemon have desires of their own, and those desires must be respected at all times." Aesera couldn't help but think that Rorohiko would be perfect for Oak's goal of changing how people viewed Pokemon. No human and Pokemon were closer to each other than Rorohiko and the Absol who traveled with him. In fact, Rorohiko had, over the course of five years, learned to understand what Absol was saying as though it were speaking like a human. He couldn't do this with any other Pokemon, though, not even another Absol, as Rorohiko relied on Absol's unique mannerisms to a significant extent. However, by having Absol translate, he could indeed know what any Pokemon was saying. Rorohiko usually used the word 'love' to describe his relationship with Absol. Of course, he also had to say that he was using the term in a purely emotional sense, not a physical sense. Love, he said, wasn't the physical action of sex, but the emotional bonding of two individuals, regardless of species. Yes, Rorohiko would have been perfect for Professor Oak's goal. In fact, Oak had probably asked Rorohiko, likely face-to-face, as the two were good friends and got together on a regular basis. But Rorohiko wasn't a trainer; he was a researcher. He'd do what he could to further Oak's goal, of course, but not as a trainer. He loved his work, and he wasn't about to stop and do something else. Aesera wondered, as she often did, just how Rorohiko had learned to understand Absol. Someday she'd have to ask him, maybe have him help her learn how to understand the Absol that would be traveling with her. For now, though, she would focus on her journey as a trainer of Pokemon, and learn things on her own.

Wait, you think that's going too far, but you aren't saying anything about the recent episode where the kindergarden teacher was having sex with Ike? Or what about the episode where Cartman tried to blame 9-11 on Kyle? Or older episodes, such as the one with NAMBLA, or the one where that kid Cartman hates ends up eating his own parents? You're complaining about the Steeve Irwin joke (by the way, Satan actually says that it's too soon when he thinks Irwin is actually someone in an Irwin costume), but not any of the other things they've done on South Park? Seriously, the Irwin joke is one of the more appropriate jokes I've seen on that show. If you think the Irwin joke is bad, than you probably haven't watched too much South Park.

Discuss Professor Oak's Lab [Pokemon Legacies Underground] [PG]

Well, I've done other Pokemon RPGs, and while other participants did have their human characters constantly shouting orders at their Pokemon, I didn't. My characters would occasionally shout orders, but when they weren't shouting orderrs, the Pokemon were acting on their own. Personally, I think this is a good solution, which is why I've always done it that way. Think about it. A trainer wouldn't be completely silent during a battle, but the trainer wouldn't control the Pokemon's every action, eithrt. So my characters shout orders occasionally, and the Pokemon fight on their own the rest of the time (sometimes ignoring the orders, if the Pokemon have better ideas). How does that sound, Doublehex? -

I have a question about Pokemon moves. Are our Pokemon restricted to moves they can learn in the games, or can they learn other moves? I realize that they wouldn't be able to learn any moves (for example, water-types wouldn't learn fire-type moves), but what about moves that ake sense for the Pokemon. For example, in the games Absol cannot learn Earthquake, but since Absol is the Disaster Pokemon, it makes sense that Absol should be able to learn Earthquake. So, are we resticted to the games' movesets, or not? -
Well, I can certainly understand why Oak wanted me for this, Aesera thought as she walked out onto the field. If there's anything I learned from Ro, it's how to properly treat Pokemon. Now, if Katrina's right, then Ro arranged for a certain Pokemon to be made available. I guess it's time to go find it. Aesera didn't have to search for long. It helped that she new exactly what Pokemon she was looking for. And she wasn't looking for it just because her brother had made sure that it was there. She'd have looked for one anyways, because it was indeed a Pokemonshe liked. She didn't share her brother's obsession with it, but she did like it. And before long, she'd found it. Aesera approached the Absol, grabbing a Pokeball as she did so. She didn't throw it, though. Instead, she expanded it, placed it on the ground in front of the Absol, and stepped back. "Rule number one," she said to herself, thinking of what her brother always said. "Respect the Pokemon's status as an individual. Do not claim ownership of it, because you don't own it. Let it choose whether or not it wants to accompany you." The Absol looked at the Pokeball for a few seconds, then reached a decision and bumped into it. The Opkeball opened, and Absol was taken inside of it. Aesera picked up the Pokeball and looked at it. "Well, I guess we're partners now," she said. "Let's do our best on our journey." Having found a Pokemon, Aesera returned to the meeting room, sat in the same chair she'd been in previously, and waited for everyone to find a Pokemon.

The new arrival, Jase, thought that Aesera should get some sleep, but Aesera wasn't ready to do so. Jase seemed to think that she was keeping watch, but that was not the case. The cave she and the others had found was pretty well concealed, not something one was likely to find unless one was looking for it. So Aesera was taking the opportunity to think about all that had hapened, from finding the digivice to entering the digital world to the battle with the Gazimon to everything she'd learned from Patamon. As she'd predicted, Aesera had a hard time accepting that she was in another world. Intelectually, she believed that she was, but it was just hard to accept. So she just sat there, thinking about everything, until she was able to accept that it was indeed hapening. Aesera had other things to think about, but she decided to leave them for another time. She needed to get some sleep. "All right, I'm going to try and get some sleep now," she said to Jase. "You should, too. I'll want to be moving early. We were seen earlier today, and whoever saw us knew that we're humans. It could be a friend, but I'm not taking that risk. So we get moving early tomorrow, and get the hell away from here." Aesera was the first one up the next morning, though Mia wasn't far behind. After convincing Mia not to go hunting for food on her own, Aesera opened up her pack and handed Mia some food. "This stuff tastes nasty," she told Mia, "but it's very filling." "Thanks," Mia said. "Thank Patamon, not me," Aesera replied. "He's the one who thought to bring it. And I've got quite a bit, hopefully enough to hold us until we can find a good food source in this world. This stuff's dense, so I've got a shitload of it stuffed in here. Makes me glad that my dad's as paranoid as he is." Aesera took some more food out of the pack. She ate some herself, and divided the rest up for the others. If they didn't wake up soon, Aesera would wake them. And once everyone was awake and had eaten, they'd head out.

"Well," Aesera said as she and her older sister Katrina approached Professor Oak's labratory. "I guess this is it." "There's no reason to be nervous," Katrina replied. "I mean, you do know what this is about, I assume." "I'm not nervous," Aesera said. "I simply don't know what this is actually going to be like. And yes, I have figured out what this is about, not that it was hard to do so. Of course, you and I happen to know Oak, though not quite as well as Ro does, which gives us something of an advantage. And then there's the fact that Ro seems to know what Oak's up to and has been dropping hints." Aesera was referring to her older brother, Rorohiko, a researcher who'd already made something of a name for himself. Rorohiko and Oak were good friends, and Oak also knew Katrina, a very skilled trainer who had won the Pokemon Leauge tournament twice, though not consecutively. Oak also knew their parents, as well as their father David's sister, her husband, and their children. Aesera had been the last member of the family to meat Oak, but she had met the man eventually. Aesera was the youngest of three children. Katrina and Rorohiko had already made themselves known to the world, and now it was going to be Aesera's turn. She didn't know if she'd make as big a name for herself as her siblings had, or her parents, or her aunt, uncle, or cousins. But Aesera didn't care about fame. She wanted to be a trainer because se knew she'd enjoy it. "Yeah, Rorohiko did help make it obvious," Katrina agreed. "And he hinted to me that he made sure that Oak has a certain specific Pokemon for you." Aesera shook her head. "Man, that guy's obsesed. I always thought he'd settle down a bit after he found his answers, but no. But I guess I like him just fine the way he is, and it just wouldn't be like him to settle down. Besides, I happen to like that Pokemon, though not to the same extent as Ro." "Yeah, me too," Katrina replied. "Well, it looks like we're here." Aesera nodded. "Yeah. I guess you'll be going now. Thanks for giving me a ride to Pallet Town. Walking from Vermillion would have sucked." Katrina chuckled. "Yeah, my Charizard's good for that. And I was going to come here to Kanto anyways. It was just a matter of meeting you in Lilycove before the ship left, and then putting you on Charizard with me. I'd have come to this area anyways, so it was no big deal." "Well, thanks anyways," Aesera said. "'Bye, katrina. I'll see you... well, sometime." "Yeah. 'Bye." And with that, katrina released her Charizard and climbed on its back. Aesera watched it fly off, then turned to face Oak's house. It had been quite a journey, as Pallet wasn't exactly close to Aesera's hometown of Lilycove. Still, traveling was no problem. Besides, it didn't matter to Aesera which region she trained in. Kanto was just as good as Hoenn, and since Professer Oak had wanted her to come, she's come. Aesera entered Oak's home, found a place to sit, and got comfortable as she waited for anyone else who was coming to arrive. ------------------------------------------------------ OOC: I hope that's good, Doublehex. Tell me if I need to change anything.

Name: Aesera Alkalero Age: 19 Physical Description:Aesera is a rather good-looking woman, though she's never been called 'beautiful'. She keeps her body healthy. She's in excellent shape; one can tell that she works out regularly just by looking at her. She's quite lean and muscular. She looks like someone you wouldn't want to mess with. This impression is also conveyed in the way she carries herself. Personality: When weighing options, Aesera's first, last, and only concern is pragmatism. She chooses actions based on how likely they are to achieve the desired results. What others think about her actions is not something she conciders, nor are her own oppinions about the actions. As a result, she often comes across as cold and uncaring, but this is a misconception. She simply places practicallity above such things. Pokemon: Absol I hope that's good. Tell me if I need to change anything, Doublehex

OOC: Wait, so is Kabato dead now? Or does everyone just think he's dead? --------------------------------------------------------- Aesera made her way towards the safe house, keeping her mental net out. This allowed her to sense any nearby spawn, which she could then avoid. But she didn't sense many spawn. Occasionally she'd sense one or two, but that was all. There'd been more spawn around when she'd been leading the others back to the mansion, so Aesera wondered what had happened to them. A battle would have been the most obvious explination, but there were no signs that a fight had taken place, which left Aesera uncertain as to where they all were. As she drew closer to the safe house, Aesera began picking up a multitude of thoughts and emotions. At first, they were too unclear for her to be able to make anything out, but as she drew closer, they became more coherent, and Aesera discovered the answer to her question about the spawn. The others were under attack. Aesera drew her laser pistols as she ran towards the safe house. She wished that she had a more dangerous weapon, but the others had all of those, and hopefully they'd heed her warning and not use any of the weapons, as they didn't know how to properly do so. Until Aesera was able to reach the others, she'd just have to make do with what she had. Suddenly, there was a breif emotional burst from the direction of the safe house. It came too quickly for Aesera to sort through it all, but she could tell that there was definitely fear. The burst was over quickly. What the hell was that? Aesera wondered. It wasn't long before she had a guess, though. Aesera picked up thoughts from Alexia, and from them learned of Kabato's death. Is that it? Did that burst come from Kabato? Well, no time to wonder about it now. I've got to get to the others. Aesera no longer took the time to evade spawn. Whenever she ran into any spawn, she simply shot them while continuing forward. She didn't stop for anything. Kabato was already dead, and that was bad enough. Another loss could not be allowed to happen. Aesera knew that she had to reach the others. Not only would this increase her own chances of survival, it would also increase the chance of survival for the group as a whole, as Aesera knew how to use the weapons that the others had. It wasn't long before Aesera saw the safe house, She approached it quickly, but stopped when she noticed that all the spawn around it were stopped a short distance away from it. Aesera looked in the minds of the others and saw that the safe house was covered by a force feild. Shit, Aesera thought. This isn't good. It seems that they can deactivate the force feild pretty easily, but they won't do it until I'm close, which means I have to go out there. Well, I guess I don't have a choice. I hope they're paying attention. Aesera dashed towards the safe house's door, shooting any spawn in her way. But there were too many of them for her to deal with by herself. Positioned as close to the safe house's door as she could be with the force feild active, Aesera held off the spawn as best she could, hoping that someone would let her in before it was too late. -------------------------------------------------------- OOC: Yes, the emotional burst Aesera got was from Kabato as he died (assuming, of course, that he's actually dead).
-
Aesera led Eve, Zech, Kairi, and Kabato back towards the remains of the mansion. She'd actually been hoping for a smaller group of people. She wasn't planning to fight anyone or anything. Instead, she was using her abilities to determine the location of enemies so that she could avoid them. Avoiding combat allowed the group to move faster. The fact that there were no others with them also helped with speed, so the five of them made good time. Before too long, they had arrived at the remains of the mansion. "Nobody's here," Aesera said after making a mental sweep of the area. "Good. Let's go." Aesera led the group across the rubble that was once the Karma mansion. It was difficult for her to determine what rooms had been where in some cases, but Aesera managed to do well enough, thanks mainly to the information she'd gotten from Alexia's mind. She couldn't determine the exact location of the armory, but she was able to narrow it down to a small area, and from there it didn't take long to dig through the rubble and find what was left of the armory. Using her memory of the armory's layout, Aesera located what had been the armory's modern weapons section. She went through the weapons until she found the ones she was looking for. As she located each weapon, she examined it, doing her best to determine whether or not it was still functional. Many did still work, but there were some that were clearly non-functional. Those Aesera passed over. They would be of no use in their current state, and Aesera didn't know how to fix them. Eventually, Aesera had determined which weapons were still usable. There were more than could be carried, so Aesera picked the ones that would be most useful. She picked a variety, as different weapons were more useful in different situations. She also located extra power packs for the weapons. When she was done, she called everyone over to her and distributed the weapons and power packs among them. She didn't worry about having them be easy to grab and use, as none of the others were likely to know how to use them. "Okay, there we go," she said when she was done. "These weapons may come in handy. Now, you four need to get to the safe house. Just head straight in that direction and you'll reach it," she told them, pointing in the direction of the safe house. "You're not coming with us, then," Kairi concluded. Aesera nodded. "That's right. I have other business to take care of. I'll make my way to the safe house once I've done so. Make sure Alexia knows not to wait on me for anything, and that includes relocating. If you leave the safe house, I'll know. Don't find me; I'll find you. "Now," Aesera continued, "there are still a few spawn scattered throughout the woods so you may have to fight. If that's the case, do not use the guns. Use your other weapons. They are matched to your souls, so you can use them even if you have no prior skill with them. This is not true for the guns. I can show you how to use them, but until then, stick with your other weapons. "Now, there's one last thing you should know. Posession of any of these weapons by civilians is highly illegal. In fact, a couple of them don't even officially exist. I have no idea how Karma got them. So be careful." "We will," Kabato said. "Well, let's get going." As the others began to walk off, Aesera held Kairi back. "Kairi, I need to tell you something," she said softly. "Aesera and I know of your past, and of your 'beast', but as far as I can tell, none of the others do. And it's best to keep it that way. Telling the others will only cause them to distrust you, and we cannot afford that. Do you understand?" "I do," Kairi replied. "Good," Aesera said. Kairi caught up with the others as they headed into the woods, towards the safe house. Aesera watched them go, then she waited. She didn't have to wait long before a world police team arrived. As the team arrived, Aesera cast out her mental net and attempted to determine if her father was among them. It wasn't easy; she'd never been in his mind before, so she wouldn't be immediately able to identify it. However, she was able to pick thoughts out of specific minds, and by doing so she was able to determine that her father was indeed present, and that he was leading the team as she'd anticipated. Aesera watched as the world police team got out of their vehicles. They spotted her immediately, of course, and she'd expected this. She wasn't worried, because she knew that they wouldn't shoot her on sight. They'd want to know why she was here, of course, but being at the site of a destroyed mansion was no reason for violence. Besides, Aesera knew that her father would recognize her. "Sir, we've spotted an unknown female within the mansion's remains," one of the world police officers said. Daego looked in the direction the officer indicated and saw the woman. He recognized her almostimmediately. "Take no action," he instructed his men. "That woman's identity and purpose are classified on a need-to-know basis, and you don't need to know. I'm going to go speak to her. While I'm doing so, I want you to set up the survey equipment. Branit, you'll operate." "Yes, sir!" Branit replied. He and the other officers set to work as Daego approached the woman, whom he knew was his daughter, Aesera. As Daego approached, Aesera turned her back to him. She lifted her hair, allowing Daego to see the symbol on the back of her head. "Well, that tells me a lot very quickly," Daego remarked as Aesera let her hair back down and turned around to face him. "I thought it would," Aesera replied. "And it has been done for all eight of us." "Where are the other seven?" Daego asked. "The others are in the woods," Aesera answered, "heading towards a nearby safe house. We were forced to flee the mansion when the spawn and Omega attacked. We all survived, though. The only notable casualty was Lady Karma, who unfortunately did not make it." "Omega?!" Daego exclaimed. "Omega attacked the mansion? I wonder if that was a coincedence, or if Omega knew what this place was." "I'm wondering the same thing," Aesera replied. "But that's not why I'm here. I'm here for two reasons. Reason one is weaponry. During the attack, Alexia led us to the mansion's armory. You could find almost any kind of weapon in there, from swords to laser pistols. There were also some class... I think it's class J, and there were also... what letter is the don't-officially-exist category? I can never remember if it's K or L." "It's K," Daego told Aesera. "You mean there were class K weapons?" Aesera nodded. "Yes. I have no idea how Karma managed to get them, but that's definitely what they were. Anyways, during the attack, I grabbed a couple laser pistols, but speed was important, so I had to leave the heavier J and K weapons behind. When Omega left, I and four others returned here. Some of the weapons were too badly damaged to function, but many were still functional. I picked out as many as could be carried, along with extra power packs. The other four are on their way to the safe house. I remained here in hopes that you would be with the world police team that would undoubtably show up. If you hadn't been, I would have left, but fortunately you did come. "Now, on to the second reason I came back here. I need to speak with you about a couple things. The eight of us have decided to head for Tokyo, which is where Alpha currently is. Unfortunately, getting there could be problamatic. Commercial transportation is too dangerous, thanks to the spawn." "You want me to arrange transportation for you, then," Daego concluded. "That's correct. We need private transportation, preferably off the record. And it needs to come with any necessary crew, because neither I nor any of the others would know how to do anything. I thought you'd be able to help." "I can probably arrange something," Daego replied. "Good," Aesera said. "Also, we could use some heavier weaponry. The class K weapons will be useful against spawn, but not the titans. We need something that'll do some damage to the titans." "That may be a bit more difficult. You'll probably need class L weapons for that, and as you know, class L weapons are even more restricted than class K weapons. It won't be easy to get any L weapons, but I'll see what I can do." "That's all I can ask for," Aesera replied. "All right, that's all for now. I should get going. Make sure the world police don't search the woods. We don't want them after us for any reason." Daego nodded. "That I can guaruntee." "Good," Aesera said. "I have my cell phone, and it's on as always. I charged it last night, so with the extra-long-lasting battery pack I got for it, it'll be good for several days without a recharge, plus I can recharge it almost anywhere, thanks to the adapter option. Makes me glad we got all the optional hardware features. Anyways, call me when you've done what you can, whether or not you're successful." "I will," Daego told Aesera. "All right, then. I'll see you... well, sometime. 'Bye." And with that, Aesera headed into the woods, towards the safe house. "All right, people," Daego said upon returning to his team. "There's been a change of plan. We're going to cut this short. Branit, restrict the survey to the mansion grounds. We're ignoring the woods. Vaxla, Eso, Damien, Jaht, Keraea, you're on corpse duty. Bag any bodies you find. Azufe, radio in for the transport truck. We'll be needing it a bit sooner than expected. David, Leoa, Kiva, you're with me. There are class J and K weapons in the area. Yes, you heard me right. The reason such weapons are here is classified need-to-know, and you don't need to know. All you need to know is that we're to gather all of them, no matter how damaged, and any extra power packs and other equipment with them. Liasa, Selna, you two stay with the vehicles. Any questions?" There were none, so the team sprang into motion. -------------------------------------------------- OOC: Tell me if I need to change anything, DC. Oh, and that last world police bit has no extra significance, just to be sure you all know.
-
As the group walked, Aesera looked back at the ruins of the mansion. Damn, she thought. That's more conspicuous than I anticipated. No doubt the world police will want to send a team as soon as they can. At least Dad'll hear about it, and hopefully he'll realize what could happen if a team was sent there. He won't be able to stop a team from going, of course, but he may well show up on-site himself, personally overseeing the investigation. And that would mean that he'd be able to, well, selectively record information, thus avoiding any chance that Alexia or the rest of us are implicated in the mansion's destruction. Still, if a world police team comes, it'll undoubtably uncover the armory, and no matter what, if anything, they do about it, they'll certainly take the weapons. "Okay, things may have just gotten a bit more interesting," Aesera said to Alexia. "What's left of the mansion is making a bit more of a spectacle than I'd anticipated. A world police team may well show up there before long. Hopefully my dad, who'd take action to prevent anything that might hinder us, will show up with the team, but even if he does, the team'll undoubtably take the weapons from the armory. If we want them, we'll need to take them before the world police show up." "Getting everyone to safety has to have priority," Alexia replied. "And after that, we need to make sure everyone understands what's going on. Once we've done that, we might be able to return to the mansion." "By then it may be too late," Aesera said. "I do understand your concerns, though. So I'll go. Me and a couple others, the ones who have the best understanding of what's going on. Kairi, certainly, and maybe one or two others. We'll go back to the mansion, get what weapons we can, then return. Depending on how things go, I may stay behind and try to speak with my father, assuming he's there." "I don't know," Alexia replied. "Yeah, I know of the concerns, but I still think we should do it. Do you?" ----------------------------------------------------------- OOC: Well, I guess this is your choice, DC.
-
Aesera opened up her mind, releasing her hold on her powers. By keeping her mind open, she could identify approaching threats. Also, she'd be able to moniter the others, which meant that she didn't have to stay next to Cole. Kyne was the only problem; Aesera tried scanning his mind and, feeling pain again, withdrew quickly. She couldn't go into his mind for some reason, so she deliberately excluded him from her mental net. Aesera moved up beside Alexia. "So Tokyo's our destination, then." "Yes," Alexia replied. "Assuming that we can figure out how to get there, of course." "That shouldn't be too difficult," Aesera said. "I understand why you don't want to fly there, but I think we'd be okay. Sure, flying commercial'd be dangerous, but there'll be some danger involved no matter what we decide to do, and speed is important. Besides, it may be possible to make things easier." "How would we do that?" Alexia asked. "We wouldn't," Aesera replied. "My father would." "Your father?" Aesera nodded. "Yes. He's... well, he's never actually come out and told me what he does. However, he's dropped enough hints-deliberately, of course-that I know he's with the government. I think his position has something to do with the world police, but I'm not sure. Anyways, he'll most likely be able to help." "You sure we can trust him?" Alexia asked. "Yeah, I can see in your mind that you don't like the world police," Aesera replied. "Don't worry, though. We can trust my father. Hell, the only reason he's with the goverment was in preperation for today. He takes his duties quite seriously, my father. And with the position he holds, he's basically garunteed to know what's happening. He most likely knew about the emergence of the titans and spawns before any of us." "He's in a high government position just so he could know when the titans and spawn appeared?" Alexia asked, incredulous. "Well, that's part of the reason," Aesera explained. "The other part is access. He knows about and has access to all kinds of things, including restricted equipment. He's not supposed to tell anyone anything, of course, but he still managed to educate me about every piece of classified anything he has access to. That's how I recognized some of the more potent weapons back in the armory. Some of that stuff is highly restricted. That's why I was so surprised when I saw you had those weapons. "Anyways, Dad's got access. He could arrange transportation for us. And it'd be completely off the record, and much faster than commercial transportation. Plus, he may be able to get us something that'll help against the titans. The world police have some pretty crazy weapons, you know, some of which could be quite useful against the titans." "If that's true, then it sounds like t would be a good idea to contact your father," Alexia said. Aesera nodded. "Yeah. Before we go anywhere, though, we should probably send a group back to what's left of the mansion to see if we can salvage any of the bulkier weapons I didn't have time to grab. They wouldn't be much help against the titans, but they'd be extremely nice to have anyways. We wouldn't all go, though. Just some of us, led by me. And I'd have to go, since I'm probably the only one of us that can tell if the weapons are even still functional." "I'd go too, I assume," Alexia said. "I'm the one who'd be best able to find what's left of the armory among the ruins of the mansion." "No," Aesera told her. "I know the mansion as well as you, thanks to information from your mind. I can find the armory just fine, and we shouldn't both go. In fact, I think that any time we split up, for any reason, you and I should be with different groups. You and I are, at the moment, the two most valuable out of all of us, though Kairi comes pretty close. But it's you and I who know the most, so untill the others can be brought up to our level of knowledge, we need to do everything we can to ensure that at least one of us stays alive. "Now, as long as we're on the topic of splitting up, I think Kyne should always come with me when there's a split. He's the only one of us who's mind I can't enter. Eventually, I'll figure out how to send messages telepathically, but even when I do, I'll be unable to send to Kyne. Kyne's the only one of us I can't communicate with from a distance, and the obvious solution is for him and me to avoid being distant." Alexia nodded. "Makes sense," she said. "Anyways, let's discuss this further once we reach the safe house." Yes," Aesera agreed. "For now, we just concentrate on getting everyone there alive."
-
Aesera stood beside Alexia, the two of them watching as the Karma mansion crumbled. "Damn," Aesera swore. "I wasn't expecting this. I knew we didn't have much time, but I never thought the danger would come tonight. I knew there wouldn't be much time for training, but I thought there'd be some. This isn't good. Some of the others don't know much, and a couple didn't know anything until coming here. Hopefully we can find the time to give them some basic knowledge of just what's happening." Alexia said nothing. She just stared at what was left of the mansion. Aesera placed her hand on Alexia's sholder. "I know you're sad about losing your mother," she said, "but there will be time for mourning later. Right now, we must rejoin the others and get the survivors away from here." "I... I know," Alexia replied. There was a pause, after which she said, "What you and I were to speak to mother about. It was was about this, wasn't it?" She held up the gem she'd recieved from Karma. "Indeed it was," Aesera told her. She briefly explained her probing of Kairi's mind and the proposal she'd made to Karma. "I'm just glad we were able to get it," she said when she was finished. "And remember, tel nobody about this. In fact, I think it's best if we tell them nothing about Kairi. Explaining his past actions would only give the others reason to mistrust him, and we cannot afford that. So let's keep Kairi's past a secret. I will tell Kairi this as soon as I can." Alexia nodded. "Yes... I think you're right. Come, let us join the others." "How durable is your armory?" Aesera asked Alexia as the two of them walked towards the others. "Is it likely to have survived all this?" "I'm not sure," Alexia replied. "It's certainly possible. Why do you want to know?" "Because there was some impressive weaponry in there," Aesera explained. "Some of it might be useful in certain situations. I didn't grab any of it because it's all bulky, and we needed speed. If we can, we should return here at some point and take a look. If these weapons are intact, they could proove useful." "Perhaps we will return here," Alexia said, "though I do not know when we would have the chance to do so." "Neither do I," Aesera replied. "It's something to keep in mind, though." "Yes," Alexia agreed. "Perhaps it is." ------------------------------------------------------- OOC: I hope I got Alexia right. Tell me if I need to change anything, demonchild781.

Discuss The Return of God underground [M-SVL]
GuyYouMetOnline replied to demonchild781's topic in Theater
Okay, I just wanted to say that I have now recieved Knuckle's Girl's weapon choice, so I edited it into my most recent post in the RPG. -
OOC: Nefertimon, this RPG is set in the world of the first two seasons of the TV show. As far as this RPG is concerned, the third and forth seasons never existed. So please remove the reference to season 4 characters in your post. ------------------------------------------------------------------ "Damn," Aesera swore as she saw Merlin and Keramon go down. "Patamon!" she called. "Merlin's in trouble. Let's go lend a hand." "Got it," Patamon said. He and Aesera took out the Gazimon currently attacking them, after which they ran over to Merlin and Keramon. Patamon fired a Boom Bubble at the Gazimon on Keramon, making sure not to hit Keramon. Aesera, meanwhile, ran towards Merlin. She grabbed one of the Gazimon on Merlin and threw it into another. Merlin managed to get the third Gazimon off of himself, and he got to his feet. By this time, the battle was winding down. Some of the others were able to give Aesera, Merlin, Patamon, and Keramon a hand. Before long, the battle was over. Aesera was surprised when data streams went from the Gazimon to the digivices of her and the others. Okay, what was that? she wondered. As everyone recovered from the battle, Aesera looked up into the sky. The sun, she saw, would set in a couple hours. We need to find a safe place to spend the night, she thought. Aesera was about to turn back to the others when something caught her eye. There was something in the air. It wasn't too far away, but it was in the sun's glare, so Aesera couldn't make it out clearly. However, she could tell when it noticed her and the others. It was clearly shocked to see them. It quickly turned and flew off. Okay, that makes things a bit more urgent, Aesera thought. We've been seen by something that probably knows we're not Digimon. We have to move. That thing may be a friend, but we have to assume it's not. It's safer that way. So we need to get going. "Okay, everyone," Aesera said. "Something just saw us, and from what I saw of its reaction, it knows we're not Digimon We should get moving, so that we're not here if it decides to come back. Yes, I know that it could be a potential friend, but it's safer if we assume it's not. So we should get moving. Besides, it looks like the sun'll set in a couple hours, so we need to find a place to spend the night." "Let's rest a bit first," Brent suggested. "That fight was tiring." "A short rest is fine," Aesera agreed. "A few minutes isn't likely to make much of a difference. So we'll rest a for a bit, but then we move." Aesera sat down on a large rock and looked off into the distance, thinking. She'd seemed to take charge of the group, though she hadn't tried to. Still, she saw how this fit. Everyone was sure to have complexfeelings about everything that had happened. Aesera herself was filled with questions and concerns, but she knew that she couldn't let herself worryh about such things yet. When the group had an idea of what was going on and what they were supposed to do, then perhaps Aesera could allow herself to consider her own feelings about all this. Until then, she'd keep her feelings and concerns in the back of her mind. Aesera didn't really want to be considered the group leader. Her belief was that everyone should have an equal weight in decisions. Still, she could see that the others were wrestling with their thoughts and feelings, so she would take a leadership role if she had to. She'd avoid it if she could, though. A few minutes later, Aesera got to her feet. "Okay, let's get moving," she said. One by one, the other humans and their Digimon stood up. The direction they traveled in didn't seem to be too important at the moment, so they picked a direction more or less at random and set off. "Patamon," Aesera said to her partner as they walked. "Before we met the others, you were about to start in on the second group of digidestined. It looks like we have some more time now, so please tell me what you know." "Okay," Patamon replied, and began detailing the adventures of the second set of digidestined. ---------------------------------------------------------- OOC: Okay, now's the time to talk with others in the group, contemplate everything that's happened, things like that.
-
OOC: Okay, I edited the post to include Cole's weapon. -------------------------------------------------------- ?Aesera, can you probe everyone?s minds to see what weapons their soul is best accustomed to?? Alexia asked. Aesera nodded "I think so. I can easily do everyone in here. It'll be a bib harder to do the others, though. I'll have to do a wide scan andattempt to isolate each of their minds individually. At my current level of ability, I couldn't do it if not for a certain aspect of my abilities. Each mind is unique, and has a... well, there's really no word for it. Basically, if I'm in a mind I've been in before, I'll immediately know who's mind it is. And since I saw into everyone's mind when we first met for dinner, I'll be able to tell when I've found one of the others. It looks like some spawn are getting close to us, so I'll start with those in this room." Aesera focused on each person in turn, starting with Alexia. From her, Aesera went to Kabato. She focused on Kyne's mind next. As soon as she did so, a sharp pain went through her mind, and she fell to the floor. She quickly withdrew from Kyne's mind. ? What?s wrong?? Alexia asked her. ? I have everyone?s preferences," Aesera replied. She looked up a Kyne. "All except for him,? she said, indicating Kyne, as she got to her feet. ? Right then,? Alexia said. "Go choose your weapon, Kyne, while we get the others.? Kyne nodded and walked off. "Okay, Aesera, who gets what weapon?" Alexia asked. "Actually," Aesera replied, "neither you nor Kabato should get a weapon. Kabato already has one, and it seems that you, Alexia, will do better without one." It was then that Kyne returned with his weapon. "Good, you found a weapon," Aesera said. She had no idea what had happened when she'd tried to enter Kyne's mind. She'd have guessed it was related to his powers, except it hadn't happened when she's scanned his mind during the meal. It was a mystery that would have to wait, though, as spawn were approaching. "Kyne, Kabato, cover the entrance," Aesera said. "Alexia, stay with me. As I determine each person's weapon, I'll say what the weapon is. When I call out a weapon, go find it." As Kyne and Kabato positioned themselves at the entrance, ready to fight off the spawn, Aesera began her wide scan. It didn't take long to find the mind of one of the others. "This is... Kairi," she said. "He does not need a weapon from here. He makes his own." Aesera withdrew from Kairi's mind and resumed her search. Before long, she'd found another of the others. "This is... Eve. Get her a katana, and... a bow. Both weapons are equally matched to her." As Alexia went to retrieve the specified weapons, Aesera resumed her search. When Alexia returned, Aesera's located another mind. "This is... Marquis. He is also matched equally to two weapons. Find him a rapier and a main gauche." Alexia nodded, and went to get the two weapons. She and Aesera repeated this with Cole, the last one, whose weapon was a scythe. "Okay, I can't go into my own mind," Aesera said when Alexia had returned with Cole's weapons. "However, my father made sure I learned how to use various weapons. I can find the one I'm most skilled with." It didn't take long for Aesera to find the weapon she was looking for, a bladed staff. As she grabbed it, she turned to Alexia. "Do you have any modern weaponry?" she asked. Alexia nodded. "Yes. Follow me." She led Aesera over to one side of the armory. "This is our selection of guns." "Holy shit," Aesera swore as she looked at the selection, which included everything from basic pistols to shotguns to sniper rifles to more advanced guns, the laser weapons used by the world police. "How did you get all this?" she asked Alexia. "I don't really know," Alexia said. "It is quite the collection, isn't it?" "Indeed," Aesera agreed. She grabbed a pair of laser pistols and put them in her pockets. She also grabbed several spare power packs for the weapons. "I've got what I need," she said. "Some of these other weapons are more dangerous, but I don't know how to use them as well. Besides, they're bulky and hard to carry. Perhaps we can return here if necessary, assuming that this place survives. But for now, I'm done here. Let's move." Aesera and Alexia returned to Kyne and Kabato, who'd apparently seen some action in the meantime. They picked up the weapons for the others. "All right, we've got what we came for," Alexia said. "Let's go." "Actually, Alexia, I want you to come with me," Aesera said. "Give the others' weapons to Kyne and Kabato. Kyne, Kabato, go render what aid you can." Alexia gave her weapons she was carrying to Kyne and Kabato, who promptly exited the armory. "Where are we going?" she asked Aesera. "To find Lady Karma," Aesera replied. "Our first priority had to be coming here to arm ourselves more properly. Now that we have, we can search for your mother. I wanted only you to come with me because there's private business going on. Only you, me, and Lady Karma are to know. I'll explain what it is once we find Lady Karma." "All right," Alexia said. "Can you locate her?" "Yes, hold on." Aesera did another scn of the area, stopping when she'd found Karma's mind. "Got her," she said, drawing her laser pistols. "Follow me." She led Alexia out of the armory and through the remains of the mansion, towards Karma's location. ------------------------------------------------------------ OOC: Okay, I think I got everything right. Let me know if I need to change anything.

OOC: Deathsye and squirr31y, please try to make your posts longer. ------------------------------------------------------- As the Gazimon attacked, everyone's Digimon entered into battle. Most of the humans fought, as well, but not Aesera. As the others, including Patamon, fought, Aesera stood back and observed. She wanted to learn about the others, and nothing revealed more about a person than that person's actions in a dangerous situation. So she simply observed as the others fought, keeping herself out of the battle for as long as possible. She watched as Mia and Gabumon fought side-by-side, observed as Impmon attacked Gazimon from up close while Adam threw rocks at them, and wondered why Brent had a knife on him when she saw him using it {OOC: Why does he have a knife, squirr31y?}. Of course, Aesera wasn't able to stay out of the battle forever. Eventually, a Gazimon came at her. Aesera waited until the Gazimon was close, not acting until the last second. She sidestepped the charging Gazimon, then brought her foot down on the back of its head. Knowing that she'd just been forced into the battle, Aesera looked around for anything that she could use as a weapon. She didn't see much, however, so when another Gazimon came at her, she fought it unarmed as she had the first one. This one didn't go down as easily, though, It was quick, dodging Aesera's strikes. Aesera wasn't able to land a hit. She was still busy with it when another Gazimon joined it against her. They both came at her, but they didn't both reach her. Patamon came up from behind them, taking one out with a Boom Bubble from behind. The other Gazimon hesitated in surprise, alowing Aesera to land a kick to its head. "Thanks for the help, Patamon," Aesera said. "No problem," Patamon replied. "Come on, let's teach these things a lesson!" Keralamon didn't understand why anyone would go against the leader, the one usually referred to using only pronouns. Her name was spoken rarely, and never spoken by most Digimon. Normally, only the leaders ever used it, the ones directly under Her, and even they used Her name only among each other. Many Digimon, especially those new to the cause, didn't even know Her name. And the reason they didn't know it or use it was because they had not proven themselves worthy to utter it. She was something of a religious figure, not just a mortal leader. Most of the Digimon serving Her saw in her a certain divinity, but not quite all of them. And any traitors were invariably among those who did not see any divinity within Her. However, such individuals were often hard to identify, as they acted like they did attribute divine aspects to Her in order to avoid any potential negative attitudes from others. Keralamon had started tracking down the traitors by following the two who'd been identified, a Tyrannomon and a Devidramon. Neither were spliced Digimon, which was not too surprising. There were non-spliced Digimonin Her army in addition to the splicers, and though the majority were splicers, many were non-splicers. And of those who saw no divinity in Her, the majority were non-splicers. On the rare occasions that there were traitors, non-spliced Digimon were usually among them. By following the Tyrannomon and the Devidramon, Keralamon had been able to identify a couple others among the trators, both spliced Digimon. And now, she was watching as Devidramon met with another of the traitors, a rookie-level non-spiced Digimon, BlackAgumon. The presence of a rookie-level Digimon was surprising, as rookies were too weak to be useful in combat. The rookies in Her army never fought. They were the ones who supported the fighters from afar. They maintained the facilities and manned the equipment, but they did not fight. The rpesence of a rookie-level among the traitors indicated they they were probably planning something more than a simple betrayal. Rookies often handled sensitive information, information that would proove useful to those turning against Her cause. Keralamon was hoping to follow the BlackAgumon after his meeting with Devidramon. However, BlackAgumon managed to lose her. She didn't think that BlackAgumon had seen her; BlackAgumon was simply being cautious, taking measures against anyone who may be following him just in case. And he'd been right to take such precautions, as Keralamon had been following him. But since she'd lost him, Keralamon decided to return to base and report her discovery. ------------------------------------------------------------------ OOC: Okay, the battle should start to wind down soon, but please allow me to end it. There's an important event I need to include at the end of the battle.

GuyYouMetOnline replied to demonchild781's topic in Theater
demonchild781, I've got a question. Were you going to post Alexia's groups' arrival at the armory, or did you intend to allow anyone to post the arrival? And if it's the latter, what exactly can we expect to find in the armory? -
"I don't know why the Digimon in the human world havn't ever digivolved," Patamon said in response to Merlin's somewhat rhetorical question. "I mean, it can't just be because nobody had digivices, which seems to be what most people think. Digimon digivolve naturally, though it generally takes a while go get to a higher level. They stay there permanently, though. Digivices allow on-demand digivolution, but the digivolution is only temporary and the partner Digimon eventually reverts to its rookie or in-training form. "Anyways, Digimon can digivolve without digivices, so that's not the reason none in the human world have digivolved. It could be that something about the human world prevents natural digivolution beyond the in-training form. Digimon at higher levels can enter the human world, but perhaps they can't digivolve naturally there. Digivice-aided digivolution is possible in the human world, as the old Digidestined prooved, but maybe it's not possible without a digivice." Aesera sighed. "Good job," she said to Merlin. "You got him started. There's no telling how long he'll ramble on for, and it's pretty close to impossible to stop him before he's done. Look, he's even kept going over me talking to you." "Well, he certainly seems to know a lot about this world," Merlin remarked. Aesera nodded. "You could say that, though it'd be an understatement. Toko-I mean, Patamon is obsessed with the Digidestined, and with the digital world. I don't think there's anyone, human or Digimon, who knows more about those topics than Patamon. He doesn't know everything, of course, but he knows a hell of a lot." Merlin was about to reply, but stopped as a group of Digimon came out of the bushes. When he saw them, they even got Patamon's attention. "Not good," Patamon said. "Those are Gazamon. They're rookis-level Digimon with a mean streak. Real nasty types. And they look mad." "You bet we're mad," one of the Gazimon said. "This is our territory, and you're tresspassing. And we don't like trespassers. Come on, boys! Let's get 'em!" ------------------------------------------------------- OOC: Okay, it's time for some action. We're being attacked by Gazimon, so this won't be too tough a fight. And since Gazimon are rookies, the humans can get in on the action, so don't be afraid to have your character attack the Gazimon along with his/her partner Digimon (perhaps after finding something nearby that can serve as a weapon). Oh, and no digivolving past rookie. That'll happen soon, but not right now.

We can't keep stopping to fight these things, Aesera thought as she slammed a spawn-controlled man's head into the wall. The body dropped to the ground, limp, and Aesera turned her attention to other spawn around her. We can't have much time left. The titan Omega will destroy this place completely before long. Eventually, there was a moment where no spawn were attacking. "We have to keep moving," Aesera said. "We can't let the spawn slow us down, or else the armory might be gone by the time we get there. Alexia, lead the way. I'll keep my mind open, so I'll know if any spawn are coming." Alexia nodded. She ran through what was left of the mansion, with the others behind her. As she ran, Aesera was struck with an unpleasant thought. This may be a coincedince, but there's always the chance that it's not a coincedince, that Omega knows that we have the souls of the gods, and knew that we'd be here. But how could Omega know, unless there was someone here to get the information? Shit, this could be bad. It has to be a coincedence, but how many of the others will realize this? How many will think that there's a traitor among us, or a spy? And how many are aware of who the obvious candidate for a spy would be? Shit, I hope nobody does anything stupid. Kairi's not the enemy. That beast of his is an enemy, but it doesn't have control of Kairi. But nobody else can know that as I do, because nobody else can see into his mind. I'll have to find Kairi as soon as possible. Karma, too, so that she can give Alexia her part of Kairi's gem. But not now, not yet. Right now, we have more pressing matters to deal with Another group of spawn was up ahead. Aesera ran ahead of the others, charging straight at the spawn. In an instant, she was among them, fighting her way past them, and then she was through, behind the group. As the others approached the spawn, Aesera attacked them from the other side, forcing them to divide their attention. This particular group didn't last too long. "Dammit, we can't afford all these delays!" Aesera exclaimed. "It's like the spawn are trying to keep us from the armory. I wish I could confirm this, but I can't get much of anything from their minds. So we should assume that they are trying to keep us from our destination. Which means that we move as fast as we possible can." "Right," Alexia said as she once more took the lead, the others following behind her as she made her way towards the armory. ----------------------------------------------------- OOC: Okay, just so it's perfectly clear, the things Aesera thought and said are just speculation on her part.
-
Ae everyone ate, Aesera looked at the variety of people sitting around the table. Aesera knew that was important for them all to master their powers. Unfortunately, there probably wouldn't be enough time to do so. The spawn were already infesting the planet, and the titans were causing havok, as well. Time wasn't a luxury they were likely to have much of. Aesera relaxed her hold on her powers, and the thoughts and feelings of the others in the room began flowing in. As a whole, it was too much to make sense of, but by focusing on a particular person, Aesera was able to focus her powers on that person only. It took her a few tries to do so, but she did manage it. Aesera examined the minds of the seven others, one by one. By doing so, she knew, she would learn more about them than by simply observing them normally or interacting with them. She was pleased by the variety she found. A diverse set of outlooks made it more likely that the best option would be chosen. However, she wasn't pleased at the level of knowledge she found in their minds. Some of them didn't know much, and a couple hadn't known anything until Karma had told them. Aesera was surprised by some of the things she found in Alexia's mind. One was a piece of information that Aesera hadn't been aware of, that the souls were selective within the bloodline. She also found a surprising amount of dislike and concern towards herself in Alexia's mind. Alexia thought that Aesera's abilities were dangerous, and would create unneeded conflict. Aesera knew that she wasn't fully trusted, but she hadn't expected Alexia's level of distrust and concern. However, she was quite pleased that Alexia understood the potential deadlieness of Aesera's powers. While they wouldn't be as useful as others in the heat of battle, Aesera's abilities were still quite potent, and their overall usefulness more than compensated for their slightly diminished usefulness during combat. Finally, Aesera came to Kairi. The contents of Kairi's mind were... well, unusual. Aesera'd learned of Kairi's situation from Karma's mind, but it took seeing Kairi's mind for everything to sink in. Kairi, it seemed, was quite literally of two minds. Aesera picked up the mind she'd expected, Kairi's, but there was also something else, something that Kairi knew about. Aesera learned from Kairi's mind that he thought of this... other as 'the beast'. She paid particular attention to Kairi's memories and feelings about his meeting with Karma. After examining Kairi's mind, Aesera supressed her powers again. As she ate, she contemplated what she'd seen in Kairi's mind. Eventually, she arrived at a conclusion. At that time, she got out of her chair and exited through the door she'd entered through, making a subtle gesture at Karma indicating that she should follow. Karma emerged from the dining hall, closing the door behind her, and faced Aesera. "Is this about Kairi?" she asked. Aesera nodded. "Indeed. I looked into his mind as I told you I would." "What did you find?" "Quite a bit," Aesera began. "First, this 'beast' of his really does seem to be a seperate entity. I thought it was just a metaphor, but I was wrong. The beast is there, and it's seperate from Kairi. There is, I think, contact between them, usually the beast trying to convince Kairi to give himself over to it. Kairi hasn't given in yet, though, and he doesn't want to. He seems to hope that Star will somehow save him from this beast of his. "Now, about your refusal to give Kairi your part of the gem. I think you made the right decision, and though this may be unexpected, so does Kairi. He knows that if he was to be given your part of the gem, he would be unable to control the beast, unable to keep it contained. And yet, at the same time, he resents you for refusing to give your part of the gem to him. I don't think you made a good impression on him when the two of you met. Could you perhaps recall your meeting with him?" Aesera released her powers and examined Karma's mind, getting Karma's meeting with Kairi from Karma's perspective. "I see," Aesera said. "Yes, I think you didn't exactly make the best impression. He resents you, and after the attitude you took towards him, that's not surprising. You can't give him your part of the gem yet, and he knows this, but the manner in which you declared this wasn't exactly optimal. I fear you may have given the beast something to use. "Okay, so that's what I saw. Now I'll tell you what I think should be done about it. First of all, Kairi needs to know that he can truse us. I doubt that he'll ever get to like you after your attitude in that meeting, but myself and the others are a different story. If he can learn to trust us, then perhaps he will be better able to fend off the beast. If he realizes that he is not alone, not isolated because of past actions, then maybe he can win over the beast even if given your part of the gem. "Okay, so here's my recommendation. At some point, I'm guessing sooner rather than later, we'll all be leaving here to do our duty. When we're going to leave, I think you should give your part of the gem to one of us. I recommend you give it to Alexia, as she is the one you know the best, and therefore the one you trust the most. Now, while we're out there doing what we must, I'll keep tabs on Kairi's mental state. At such time as he is able to fight off the beast, Alexia would give him your part of the gem." After thinking for a bit, Karma nodded in agreement. "Yes, I think you're right. I shall give my part of the gem to Alexia when you all leave here." "Good," Aesera replied. "Oh, one more thing. Kairi shouldn't know that we're doing this. I don't want him trying to fake his way into getting the gem sooner. In fact, I think it's best if you tell nobody but Alexia, and I see in your mind that you agree. So, will you then tell her as soon as an opportunity presents itself? Yes, I see that you intend to do just that. All right, then. I have nothing more to say, and I see that neither do you, so let's head back in, shall we?" Aesera followed Karma back into the dining hall, and the two of them sat down. "What was that about," the one named Kyne asked. "Personal business," Aesera replied. Kyne accepted this, and Aesera could see that generally, everyone else did as well, though a couple possibly still had their doubts. But nobody said anything, and even if they had, Aesera wouldn't have told them the truth. But she didn't have to lie, as no further questions were asked about it. Aesera supressed her powers again, and resumed eating her meal. --------------------------------------------------- OOC: Okay, demonchild781, please tell me if I got anything wrong (that goes for you too, Kairi).

I hope not. And yes, I did see the OOC at the bottom of DC's post. I just didn't think that there was any hurry. But like I said, the post will be up tonight (I'm working on it right now). Anyways, thanks for the advice. An no, that was not intentional. I didn't mean any rudeness, and I'm sorry if it seemed that I was being rude. -

I wasn't aware that I'm holding up the RPG. It was my impression that you'd keep everyone in the dining hall for a while. I've actually got my post in progress right now, though I havn't been able to finish it because of responsibilities at home. I should have it up tonight, tomorrow at the very latest. Now, I really don't understand what you're complaining about. I haven't been trying to boss you around. I realize you've done RPGs before. I'm just saying that in my experience, if you keep doing things like 'just socialize' sequences or training sequences, people will likely lose interest in the RPG. I've seen it happen many times. I don't know why you think I'm trying to tell you how to run your RPG. I'm just saying what I've seen in the past and giving you suggestions. What you actually do is your choice. Really, I have no idea why you reacted the way you did. However, you're not the first person who's reacted that way, which makes me think there's something here that I don't understand (and I'm autistic, so that's quite likely). If you can give me any advice, please do so via PM.
