1. Hey Big, what were the technical flaws in GTA VC? Just curious to see if I missed them. That's why I really dig finding games that are a little under the radar like Muto. Too much hype spoils the big releases for me but when you don't expect the world, usually a game ends up surprizing you. Any like that for you?
2. For those of you who thought I meant board games or sports games, NO, just video games. Games I thought sucked were State Of Emergency and Stuntman. Games that surpassed would be VC, Dr. Muto, MOHF and Hitz. Still playin all of them. If you guys had to pick a game of the year for 2002, what would it be?
3. Usually I know beforehand whether or not something is worth getting. But, do you ever get a game that you thought was going to kick ***, but it ended up sucking? I have ? many times. Every once in awhile, though, I?ll get one that I?m skeptical about that ends up being surprisingly good, or even ends up as a favorite.
4. Thanks for the input guys. Still trying to come up with a final list but so far... Gameplay - Dr. Muto Story - MOHF Interaction w/ Environment - Not sure yet A.I. - Not sure yet Graphics - DOA3 Weapons/Vehicles - The Splizz Gun Sound (Music/Effects) - MOHF Size/Length - gta3 Creativity/Design - Dr. Muto Gore/Violence - vc or maybe MK Still perfecting though.
5. I could go for all games but just use your Mario games if ya like. What other forum would you suggest?
6. Maybe just the last few games you got and also why. I want to add to my Xmas list. Hey Sem and Morph, you out there? Just thought I would check back.
7.
Originally posted by James Dr. Muto was created by Midway...and that alone makes me hesitant. lol I think the bottom line simply has to be "play what you enjoy". :)
Well, it may not be the game for you but they really put some effort into the character design, which I really liked. Your 2nd quote sums it all up and I agree completely. "Play What You Enjoy." Well said!
8. -Gameplay -Story -Interaction w/ environment -A.I. -Graphics -Weapons / Vehicles -Sound (music / effects) -Size / length -Creativity / Design -most challenging -Gore / violence I almost added ?Voice acting? as a category, since some games are made by the great voice-overs, like the GTA series, while some games are ruined by it, like Resident Evil: Code Veronica. Whatever dudes they found to do the voice over for the male characters in that game should be executed for sounded like such fruitcakes. I am simply editing this post to add a "most challenging" category to rectify a thread merger I just performed. The Sony forum is becoming too cluttered with favorites topics.-Crazy White Boy
9. PS2: GTA3 Vice City MOH:Frontline Time Splitters Defender MLB Slugfest Unreal Tournament Metal Gear Solid 2 Resident Evil: Code Veronica NHL Hitz Star Wars Star Fighter Crash Bandicoot: Wrath of Cortex Pac Man World 2 Midnight Club XBOX: Halo Max Payne Hitman 2 The Thing Munch?s Oddysee Bloodwake Gamecube: Rogue Leader Resident Evil Zero Animal Crossing
10. Which is exactly what this topic was all about. I know there are a lot of great games but if you had designed it, would it have been better overall, or just for you. Hopefully designers check these boards sometimes and listen to what we want.
11.
Originally posted by Semjaza Azazel Well of course... But it's generally like "Elmo's Paint by Number," "Mary Kate and Ashley Go to the Mall" or something like that. I'd consider those "kiddy" games, not something like AC or Mario. Now don't go putting down "Mary Kate and Ashley - Go To The Mall" until you've tried it. Kidding. I know what ya mean. If you're a fan of Mario, which I am, you should check out Dr. Muto. He reminds me of an older version of him, only crazy. What do ya think? Put a link red jumpsuit on him... Actually though, it's a really cool game.
12.
Originally posted by Mr. Pfy Jkt Man I always try to find the best in a game, because it is someones life work.
Well, I have to disagree with you for one reason. They charge a helluva lot for these games. 50.00+ on the new ones. They should be perfect. I appreciate that game makers go out of their way to make these games the best but usually when they do that, (i.e vc) they reap the rewards. You got my money. Gimme a good product. That's all I ask. I just finished the new Defender and clearly someone put a lot of work into it to change this game to 3D and it was perfect. I wish all games ran this smoothly. 13. Well, there ya have it. Don't judge. Haven't any of you ever looked at a game though and thought, not for me?
14. What game have you played (now or anytime, any platform) that would have been better or perfect if they?d have changed one thing? What change would have made it better?
15. So many people love this game now, but I?ve never played it. I just take one look at the box cover art and think ?this game looks like it?s for kids 7 and under.? To those of you who have it: is the gameplay so good that you can overlook the silly appearance?
16. I went ahead and rented Defender to see for myself if it was worth getting. It?s just amazing how far games have come since the original classic Defender. The short of it is, it takes a little getting used to the controls at first (like most flying games, really) but once you?ve got the hang of it, it?s the kind of game that gets more addictive as you play it. I was especially pleased with the two player mode ? it sort of reminded me of the two player mode in the XBOX version of Star Wars Star fighter, only Defender has a lot more ships to choose from, has more arenas and uses a 3rd person perspective, rather than in-cockpit view (personally, I like the in-cockpit view option, but it didn?t ruin the game for me). I think this game is a little advanced for anyone who doesn?t play with above average coordination, but even non-gamers can appreciate the visual beauty of this game. I don?t usually care for DVD extras, but there is a segment on the history of the original Defender, which I thought was fascinating. To summarize, overall this game is worth having. Especially for gamers like myself who like the replay value of 2-player mode games and who like flight battle games in general. Now I?d like to see if it?s possible to do a remake of Tempest! (Or maybe Asteroids?)
17. How about Robert Loggia who did Ray in GTA 3. He was great! Perfect pyshed out cop voice. Speaking of that, at the end of that game you see something that says Ray, see you in Miami. How could he say that if this game is a flashback? Just wondering. I also been enjoying Traci Lords as the voice of the Kyoto in Defender. Who else have we missed.
18. The GTA series has been bringing in some major stars to do game character voice-overs (Dennis Hopper, Burt Reynolds, Ray Liotta, etc.) Who are some of the best celebrity characters over the last few years. Also worst and strangest?
19. Got another one. How about Jimmy Patterson from the MOH series. Way classic. Anyone else think Muto looks a little like Mario, only older and nuts. http://www.drmuto.midway.com/
20. Acid, that's pretty cool. Great post. Um, I guess mine is sub zero because of the cool fatality move. All the MK characters had great fatality moves. I also dig Dr. Muto. Anyone played it?
21. Pretty easy question to understand, not an easy choice to make, though
22. I?ve seen the ad on TV for it. Just curious if it?s worth looking into ? especially for the two player mode. There doesn?t seem to be enough space-battle games with a good player vs. player. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ FYI, since no one had posted, I rented it and am convined I have to but it. It's way different from the original http://www.defender.midway.com/ but in a good way. This is a challenging game but the graphics and the gameplay have kept me entertained for 3 days now. Traci Lords voice over is sweet. She's cool. What games are you guys playing now? Please use the edit button instead of double posting. *combines posts* - Desbreko
23. Hey Break, sorry about that. I'll make sure to post in the right forum. My bad. Thanks for letting me know. By the way... how do I get past the death match?
24. for me about 5 hours. Is there any other games out now that I may have missed because of the all the hoopla for VC? I hate to miss out on cool games! Yeah, don't double post, and don't post off-topic posts. If you want to talk about the new Defender game in one of the gaming forums (whichever console it's on), that's fine, but this forum is for GTA games only. I suggest you read the rules. *deletes post* - Desbreko
25. (for those who can actually tolerate yet another VC thread) You can probably just take the amount of estimated time you spent on GTA3 and just multiply it by three.
