1.
It's the same for their daughter. She's not going to ever understand having a period, or be able to understand sex, and as a woman myself, I agree completely with what SunfallE and DeadSeraphim was talking about. It would be needless suffering since most women have some sort of issue every time they have their period whether it's cramps, bloating or outright pain. So which is crueler? Willingly allowing your daughter's body to mature and experience things she will never learn to adapt to. (Normally females learn to do so along with medicine if needed, but that's a concept she will never grasp) Or try to do something different in spite of others sending you hate mail because in the end you truly care about your daughter?
Having no way to adapt to something you can't grasp is inhumane in it's own way. I can understand that. Maybe they should have looked then, at taking these elements out specifically, rather than stunting her entire growth. [strike]The human body was designed to grow, and I don't think she will last long trapped in life as a 3 month old.[/strike] Another thing to consider in this is medical advancement. Who is to say they won't find a way to repair her brain in the coming decade? We're at this point where we can take stem cells from other parts of the body and repair a damaged heart with them. The technology to allow someone like this girl to live a normal life is being pioneered as we [strike]speak[/strike] type. Stunting her growth is like playing russian roulette with her future.
2. My new years resolution to eat less and exercise more has already failed. Resolutions arepointless anyhow. Instead, I'm going to get into wholefoods this year, some time, I guess. I don't need the added pressure of changing afresh on New Years (totally pointless, did I mention?) to go with that. By the way, Wholefoods medicine rocks my socks. I reccommend. :)
3. I'll shoot against the grain here. I don't support the decision, I disagree with it entirely. While I understand that this decision the parents have come to wasn't made lightly, I feel that the decision to stunt the growth of the child was a misguided one, in any case. The child may never understand, or comprehend life in a full-grown body, but I don't see this as giving anybody a mandate to take that away from her. You don't need to understand the rights you have to be able to have them. I disagree with like-minded people who believe that this decision was made solely for the benefit of the carers, I feel that the parents' were acting to what they believed were the childs best interests, I just don't think these are to her best interests.
4. I met Peter Jackson on our schools' train journey about 95 or 96. I remember he was directing The Frighteners at the time. It was my Dad who spotted him, I haven't ever been big on celeb spotting.
5.
I'm sorry, but without knowing the purpose of making these clones there's no way you can really choose a side. If these clones were made to replace loved ones or something like that, then maybe it'd be ok. If they were going to be grown for organ transplants and the sort, then it most likely wouldn't be ok.
There is no merit in that. People who want to clone to replace a loved one who died with a clone are fools, and they only kid themselves if they think they can bring them back. All they will be doing, is creating a genetic copy. That copy will still, however, become and live it's own life. A sure fire ticket to dissapointment. Then, think about how you would feel if your parents turned around some day and told you you were actually a clone of their deceased firstborn that the couldn't bear to part with. How would you feel knowing that they tried to re-created their firstborn out of you, instead of just dealing with it and letting you, be you? It's unfair to the child, to grow up in a role that is essentially placing him/her as a shallow replacement for a lost loved one.
6. I'd rather drink chocolate milk through my eyeballs than fart realy loudly. At least, to my knowledge, that would be original! A movie about someone who could drink chocolate milk through their eyeballs would have beat that stupid Thunderpants movie hands down. Now, would you rahter.... Be the butt of a Borat prank, or... Live out one day totally in reverse?
7. Hello to the talented artists here on OB. [strike]My computer has recently decided to give up the ghost, which has left me no way of doing this myself, so if anyone could get this done for me, I'd really appreciate it. What I want is an invader Zim avatar and sig combo, on the avatar, I'd just like a good pic of Zim. On the banner, I'd like to have both Zim and GIR, oh, and perhaps the madness dog too. For any text on the sig, a random Zim quote will do just fine. I'd also like the backgrounds of both to be dark in tone.[/strike] Edit: I have been able to do this banner/avatar combo myself, although if you have already done a version, or are in the middle of one, then feel free to post it anyway. I might like it better. :p Thanks for your time. [strike]Zim[/strike] Shinje.

9. Just a little FYI: It just came to my attention that I typoed Sephiroth's name in my entry regarding MAMA, and this has translated over to the Otakupedia itself. I don't know how much of this is accurate since I'm running on memory power, someone else can correct it if they know otherwise. ^_^ Final Flash Category: Old Members, Former moderators. Early Days: Final Flash was a category moderator on the Otkauboards from 2001 to 2003. Often remembered as the guy who created the socks thread, there was more to Flash than just that. Final Flash registered somewhere around the twilight days of the UBB run Version 2 and the new VBulletin run version 3. Flash quickly rose to prominence as an exemplary member in the forums he frequented, and soon became moderator of the spriting forum. After a run in the spriting forum, and proving himself there, Flash was moved to moderating the more populated Sony forum. It was here that Flash carved out a reputation as a solid moderator, running the Sony with the upmost of efficency and dedication. Rise to Supermod status: Final Flash was, however, unhappy with the arrangement that saw hin owrking under Kuja, who was at the time supermod of the gaming area. Flash often saw Kuja as an inferior member owing to his post quality. When Kuja was banned from OtakuBoards, (for more information see Notable members: Kuja) Final Flash celebrated by creating an avatar showing Kuja's unsername in the background, with the status of "Banned," and a sprite in the foreground pumping his fists into the air in celebration. Final Flash soon became supermod of the gaming arena, and as a result, the area took on a whole new lease of life. It was around this time that Flash created the Maverick Hunters RPG, an RPG that would attract some of the more prominent members to join up. It was one of the highest quality RPG's of it's time, and raised the bar of quality in the Adventure Arena singificantly. James, the amdinistrator of the time, like the story so much, he would go on to pen two sequels to it. One of which would invole the Flash himself. 2003 Dissapearance. He would hold on to his supermod status until early 2003, when he suddenly and unexpectedly dissapeared. Zeh took over as supermod of gamer in the wake of Flash's absence. 2004 Comeback. Early in 2004, Flash made an unexpected comeback to the forum, registering a MyOtaku account and posting in several threads. The Daily Otaku of the day recorded reports of topics that had been "Flashed." Many members though the Flashster was back to stay... However, Flash soon dissapeared again, never to be heard from since. He left behind an OtakuBoards gaming section that was all the more richer and matured for having known him. Final Flash was named after Vegeta's "Final Flash" move in DragonBall Z, though it is safe to say he made the name his own. ------------ Zeh Category: Old members, banned members, former moderators. Early Days: Zeh (known also as Cloud Strife, Tasis) joined TheOtaku community back in it's Abosolute Gameboy days, and quickly became a respected member of the OtakuBoards community. Zeh was an avid gamer and was a valuable asset to AGC back in the day, helping write some articles for the site as well as dispensing his vast knowledge through OtakuBoard's.com. Zeh was, at the time, the youngest person to be promoted to the status of a moderator, earning his spot on the team aged 12. (this was before the age 13 cutoff was applied or enforced.) Category Mod & Ban from OtakuBoards. Zeh became Category Moderator of Otaku Gamer in 2003, after Final Flash stepped aside. Zeh would not hold this position for long. however. During the heated spat between OtakuBoards and Kevin's AEB. An announcement was made to the membership that a moderator of high position within the OB had gone over to the AEB and incited a flame war with the Kevin-sympathetic users on it, in a show of support for the OtakuBoards that James felt corssed the line. OtakuBoards was more inclined to take the moral highground and not divulge in such dirty tactics. Intitially, the user was not named by James, who was thinking over either dropping the member from the moderator team, or banning him outright. In the end, James decided that a full ban was justified and he banned the member. While Zeh was not named per se, his loss of moderator status and subsequent ban left no one in two minds about who was responsible for the AEB incident. However, some members believed that Zeh was innocent, given that the name of the flame inciter was actually Leh. This theory was considered unfounded until another member of the OtakuBoards, Logan, changed his name to Leh shortly after the Zeh ban. These names were similar owing to a trend in username changes at the time which started with Break's name change to Weh. The conspiracy theorists died off quickly, however, and the issue remains a shut case.
10. *Is surprised this entry hasn't come sooner.* James Category: Notable members worth mentioning For the category revolving around notable members worth noting, James deserves one hell of a mention. Beginnings and Earlier Activity: James was initially invited to OtakuBoards circa 2000 by the founder of theotaku.com, Adam, to helm the Forums project back in it's infancy of theotaku.com/forums. Under James' stewardship, OB grew from a humble little side forum into a full fleged community deserving of it's very own .com address. It's membership population and content grew to an admirable size, and was only superceeded by MyOtaku with it's launch in 2003. James has taken the site from strength to strength, re-developing the site through seven different versions and creating a unique, memorable interface for each of them. Perhaps the most memborable of these versions in the current version 7. Version 7 was a radical departure from other OB layouts, with the interface being drastically changed. James, dissatisfied with VBulletins restrictions, collaborated with jblessing, the technical staff member, to come up with a layout that was truly unique to OtakuBoards. As a result, V7 is the longest serving version in the history of the forum. In 2003, James decided to step down as site administrator to take on a more limited role, wanting to create more space to devote to his studies and education. The position of Site Director was created, with the administrator position going to Charles. James took up the position of Site Director, allowing him to remain a key player in the development of the forum. Later and Current Activity: James has gone on to helm other projects on the OB, the most recognisable of these is the popular MyOtaku.com, which added a blogging service to the ever-expanding theOtaku.com and it's affiliated sites. He also designed layouts for several TheOtaku.com iterations as well as drawing up the mascot for theotaku.com's Guru, the online quiz section of the Otaku network. James is currently woring on a new version of MyOtaku, as well as a new layout for OtakuBoards although there's no expectation that there will be a major departure from V7, with James himself describing it as more of an evolution than a revolution. Some teaser art has been released by James that shows the intended angle of the new MyOtaku interface, which utilises several different color schemes for the backroom and promises no graphics/logos bar the ones you decide to put up yourself. Appearance: While no-one has actually seen the James, early accounts have him described as a wrinkly old man shouting at a football game. This tends to describe the joke picture James put up on the picture forum when it was still a function of Otakuboards. Many people believed the old man was actually him, and some, still to this day, believe that the "nah, it was a joke" punchline was actually a backdown. Personality: James is an awesome dude who doesn't think of himself a superior to anyone else on OtakuBoards based on his status, which is pretty cool. James has, in his time as administrator/site director demonstrated that he is an equal opportunity site director, who has on a number of occasions promoted newer, promising members to moderator portfolios. This is of some dismay to some of the older, senior members. (read: MAMA) James' position has made him a target for disaffected member rants on occasion, but he has never let them get him down. His tireless devotion ot the forum community and theotaku.com as a whole, is truly commendable. Dragon Warrior Categry: Notable members worth mentioning Background: Dragon Warrior is a member perhaps best known for his comical genius, and is quite a common contrbutor to Anthology, where he writes satirical stories that often involve OtakuBoards' member personalities in movie or TV parodies. Humor used in Dragon Warrior skits: Dragon Warrior uses a random style of humor, often imitated, but never beaten. For example, in a western-set parody of his, a coupe of characters speed away in a Ferrari, then realise that Ferraris didn't exist in this time, which causes the Ferrari to spontaneously combust. Lore of DW: To be included in a Dragon Warrior skit, even in a one line cameo role, is considered an honour indeed, and is clear proof that you have "made it" on OtakuBoards. Other nefarious activities: Sometimes, Dragon Warrior takes his ideas to the Art Studio, where he throws them together in a crude animation sequence. All of Dragon Warrior's animations havebeen a huge success. Recently, Dragon Warrior has penned the hugely successful Slackers in Slacks webcomic, which was one of the most sucessful web comics ever posted in the Art Studio. Dragon Warriors success in these areas have spawned numerous imitators, none of which have got the random style of humor Dragon Warrior uses down right, and have subsequently paled in comparison. The Dancing Black Mage: Dragon Warrior still uses the same dancing Black Mage avatar he used in his early days, and it is perhaps the longest running avatar in OtakuBoard's history. Occasionally, Dragon Warrior has tried something different, avatar wise, only to revert to his trusty dancing mage. The Black mage may sport alterations depending on the time of year. For instance, Christmas usually sees Mage sporting a santa hat and red garments as opposed to the regular yellow hat and blue garments. Dragon Warrior also briefly used a line of dancing mage's in his signature, though this sig was short-lived. Dancing mage is, as a result, immediately identified with Dragon Warrior.
11. I found this on Archive.org! This is Syk3's banner. He won a competition to design the OtakuBoard's header when V6 went for a cosmetic upgrade. The result of Syk3's win was the reworking of the entire skin to match it, which used darker, navy blue rather than OtakuBoards' more familiar light blue look. This ended up creating a darker mood and some users felt the new skin was rather depressing. Brasil Category: Old Members Early Days Brasil, better known as PoisonTongue, was a member of OtakuBoards from 2003. Known for his biting critique and take no nonsense attitude, he first came to prominence in the community by being the first to openly question the validity of Rick Hunter's movie script being picked up. His first avatar was one of Simon Cowell from American Idol. This led to some members asking if he actually was Simon, given their personalities matched quite well. Brasil was arguably at his best in the Anthology area, where he gave prospective writers feedback and critique, which was commonly harsher than the usual feedback given in response to creative works in anthology. This often led to the OP feeling personally insulted, although Brasil would argue that his critiques were aimed solely at the work in question and helping the OP improve at their game. Brasil also fatured a number of his works in anthology, writing essays on modern pop culture and movies such as the Terminator and Star Wars. His essays were usually noted for going against the grain of popular thinking (eg, Star Wars' rebellion is actually the antagonist) and making his points and thesis convincing. Feud with Mitch and subsequent ban Brasil came to feud with former Anthology moderator Mitch. Originally this feud was restricted to Mitch's threads that Brasil decided to critique, but eventually spread out to any thread the two found themselves on opposite sides of the specturm. This led to the spectacular demise of both members memberships here in the 2005 Lounge thread "So I'm goign to run away from home." Which revolved around a troll's threat to run away from home until Brasil and Mitch started opposing each other and ended up taking the thread down into farcical one-image-post-war against each other, in an obvious attempt by both parties to be, or at least look like, Charles. The thread ended up being closed and bothe members got whacked with a ban courtesy of Shy. Charles remains king of the one-image-post. Later Life Brasil continued to post for a few months on his MyOtaku before ceasing to update it some time ago. He re-registered ofr OtakuBoards in 2006 under the name Papa Smurf, and was re-banned recently for reasons unknown to the lay membership. He continues to write articles for SomeFantastic, a web based pop culture 'Zine. Trivia: Former/other usernames that Barzil is known as are: PoisonTongue, Amine*Fangurl*441, Bean, Siren, Papa Smurf.
12.
O I have even included extra information that Shinje provided from a post he deleted (it was actually helpful, Shinje).
Then I'm glad you got to my post before I did! I was conscious that Wikipedia doesn't allow self-promotion, I thought that could very well translate over here, being a "wiki" and all. Loved the part you added about S@bretooth being another unfortunate name choice. Hahaha, indeed it was. ;)
13. In the spirit of something new.... MAMA MAMA, or Members Against Mods and Admins, was a group of dissenting older members who got together out of a mutual understanding that the post quality of OtakuBoards was in a decline. MAMA initially formed as a secretive group, a bit like the [Exclusive Brethren Church.] It was, however, exposed by some of it's members in the post-quality themed Suggestions and Feedback thread, "The Complaint" much to the chagrin of it's more secretive members. Other members participating in "The Complaint" were a little perplexed in regards to how a movement title MAMA could be advocating a return to quality when it was taking potshots at the staff. In reailty, MAMA only seemed to target newer, younger moderators and their perceived inability to be online as often as they should or enforce the rules as stricly as they should. MAMA regarded some of these newer moderators, actually listed in the initial post of the thread, as being inferior to the moderators of old. (See old members: Safer Spehiroth, Babygirl, GinnyLyn) Eventually "The Complaint" was closed and MAMA died off afterward. It should be noted that MAMA's confrontational name was a big reason why the movement failed to gain any serious ground, and ended up in the dustpan following the closure of "The Complaint." ------------------------------- Otaku Idol 2: Who wants to become an Even Master? Otaku Idol 2: Who wants to become an Even Master? Simply known as Otaku Idol 2, is a 2006 and current event located in Community Events forum, formerly known as the Event Arena. Billed as the first ever 'audition' for a staff role on OtakuBoards, the winner of Otaku Idol 2 will become the next Events Master, taking over from long time moderator and Events Master Shy, who is stepping down at the conclusion to this event. The contest is not actually run as a bona fide RPG per se, rather, it is an opportunity for contestanst to run their own community event, to prove they have what it takes to be a successful Event Master should they be chosen to succeed Shy in this position. The Events currently in contention for Otaku Idol 2 are:

White's Mafia
Sandy's Labyrinth
Gavin's Kumite
While White and Sandy have both started their RPG in respect to auditions, Gavin's Kumite languishes in the signup stage, requiring more interest and signups to get under way.
14. If anyone's interested in masterfork and how he got his unusual custom title, I found this little gem hidden away in the archives of theotaku.com history. Thanks archive.org! Note of interest: This update to theotaku.com was posted a mere day before September 11 2001. I'll quote the entire thing because it is bloody hilarious. I think it's all made up though. If it is factual, then...wow...
A few days ago I decided to meet one of theOtaku's long time fans, a kid that goes by the name "Masterfork" (you might know him from the forums). His one wish, he told me, was to talk to the famous "Adam" in person. Well, yesterday we met like we were supposed to. We were waiting for one another in the local Software, Etc. I got there a little early and was waiting, waiting... All I knew about what he looked like was 1) he was Russian and 2) he had on an America Eagle T-shirt. I waited a bit, then suddenly, exploding through the doorway came a hugely ripped guy that looked maybe 6-7 feet tall. He was dripping from head to toe in an oozing substance of sorts. "Please don't be masterfork" I kept repeating to myself. When he extended his dripping hands to me to say 'hi', I sighed and extended my own. "What's with the goo?" I asked him. He replied in a thick Russian accent "IT TO SCARE BABIES". I sighed again. We then drew our attention to the local video game system (a PS2) playing some biking game. There was an 11-year old kid on a wheelchair struggling to handle its controls. "This game looks alright, how about we play it after the tike's done?" I suggested. Within moments, masterfork lifted the 12-year old (wheelchair and all) off of the floor and rolled him out the door. "ME WANT PLAY" he roured. At this point the guy at the counter made us leave. I kept shaking my head. "I need to buy some stamps" I then said. So we went off to a place that sold stamps. Unfortunately the machine ripped me off about $10 (I put in a $20 and it didn't give me enough change back). I went to the front desk to complain and the guard sympathized with me and was reaching into his pocket to give me a refund when... "GIVE ADAM BACK MONEY NOW OR I BEAT YOU WITH PINKY AND EAT YOUR BABIES. HE IS FROM THEOBWAKU.COM, HE IS IMPORTANT PERSON." The guard then made us leave. I didn't get my refund. After that I suggested that we go eat. He readily agreed. "I'll pay for your food" I offered. He happily shook his head in an excited fashion. Well... We get to the cafeteria and I buy a small wrap with a drink and a salad. I go to pay for it when I see masterfork lumbering toward me with not one, but three trays stacked with various food items. He must have had like six meals there! "Dude, there's no way I can afford all that". Like a hurt child, he gave me a little puppy dog face, put the food down, then retreated to a corner to (presumably) shed some tears. He eventually recovered and we sat down. "Did you bring the GB Advance with your games?" I asked. "NO, BUT I BRING THIS". He then reached into his backpack and pulled out a portable TV and placed it right on top of the cafeteria table. He then took out a (I'm not kidding) Dreamcast system and set it up right there. EVERYONE was staring at us. He then took out a CD wallet filled with Russian DC bootlegs. "Cool", I said, "What games do you have?" He responded, "THEY ALL ONE GAME. THEY ALL SONIC. I HAVE FIFTY COPIES OF SONIC. SONIC YUM YUM." He then put in the disk and sat staring at the intro movie. He didn't play, just kept watching the intro... THIS MY FAVORITE PART! He'd yell on occasion. I didn't stay around, I got the hell out of there right when he started licking the scream, "SONIC YUM YUM". The moral of the story is, people are a lot different in person than online
Now, I think I'll give this here wiki thing a whirl... ;) CATegory: Notable Threads. Adam makes fun of COPPA Adam makes fun of COPPA was a 2002 thread in which the founder of theotaku.com, Adam, poked fun at a correction letter he had received from COPPA regarding a faulty privacy policy on pokecheats.com, a site that had at the time been inactive for the better part of 2 years. Much of the early discussion in the thread revolved around the bemusement that such a letter and booklet would be sent to the admin of a dead website. The thread picked up a whole new lease on life, however, when former supermod Kuja hijacked the thread for his own anti-OB agenda, regularly re-appearing to send snippets of the thread to his lawyers. His involvement in the COPPA thread led to his demise, for more information see Notable Members: Kuja. The thread is noted by some old members as one of the greatest threads ever, though some members feel that this is unwarranted. ------------------------------ What's your favourite sock? http://www.otakuboards.com/showthread.php?t=3534 What's your favourite sock is a 2001 thread created in the ashes of V2 and the formative days of V3 versions of the boards history. The discussion revolved around socks, and members preferences for sock type. Some members perferred fluffy socks, while others preferred thinner types. Master O Beans only liked the ones with the red stripes at the top because they are "good for burning." Today, the socks thread would be considered spam. The thread lives on in infamy, being resurrected in later years to demonstrate how far OtakuBoards' has evolved in terms of post quality and as a defense against letting favourites threads back inside the rules. The popluarity of the socks thread has waned in recent years, however, owing to the fact that OB now lets some favourites threads with decent discussion into the lounge. This has rednered the socks thread as an exemplary obsolete for the most part.
15.
But what if it said, "In Alla We Trust" or "In Buddha We Trust"? Then what would be the Christian's point of view? They'd want that gone too. That's just how it is.
The thing to remember here is that the word "God" is entirely ambiguous. It isn't the name of the Christian God. I can YouTube PS3 riots and watch screaming frothing fanboys who have camped out a week, rip each other to shreds. This is all for the sake of getting a console a few weeks in advance of the lay gamer, who will be able to stroll in to the Best Buy, mid afternoon, and casually stroll out with their new PS3. I'd rather go to the Parachute Music festival with my one week off work rather than queue for a bloody console. Are any of them even grounded in reality?

19. I'd fish with my pinky toe. I can lose that without too much stress. The loss of my big toe, however, could affect my balance. There's always the chance that the Prianah's could take more than my toe though... Would you rather live without the ability to hear spoken words for the rest of your life, or.... Be able to hear spoken words, knowing that you'll never hear another note of music again?
20. I'd rather hear the most annoying music non-stop for one week. I like to get things I don't enjoy over and done with as quickly as possible, so making the annoying music more mild in exchange for it lasting a few more months is not an option. Would you rather.... Live 15 years in absolute wealth, or... Live 80 in severe, famine-stricken poverty?
21. It's technically impossible for me to go now since Borat! Cultural Learnings of America for Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazhakstan hasn't hit theatres yet. Of course, I could torrent it, but I'd enjoy it better at the cineplex. I am looking forward to seeing Borat! Cultural Learnings of America for Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazhakstan, and have been for a while. It looks like it will easily be the funniest movie I've seen on the big screen this year. I'll get back to this thread once I've seen it. ;)
22. Wait a minute... he can't be a very good serial killer, can he? He threw me a gun. I'd go like I was aiming for my sister and at the last minute, I'd shoot him! But, since that is not a choice I can make, I'll run with lettign him kill my brother. Because at least then, I wouldn't have my sister's blood on my hands by being the one who consciously chose to shoot her. I'd have the killer's blood on my hands though, since I'd pop him as soon as he popped my brother. Hello, my name is tehShinje. You killed my brother. Prepare to die.
23. There will still be a greater chance that there is actually an underage kid there, as opposed to a Dateline bust. I guess it's worth the risk to them.
24. Saddam wants the firing squad because that's a millitary death. Hanging is a commoners death. And he should know. He put many a commoner to rest during his tenure as Iraqi "president." Regardles of exactly how he dies, the Sunni's are going to put him on the pedestan of martyrdom no matter what. However fitting his execution may be, it's anathema to the goal of a stable Iraq. I say hang him later, when the insurgency dies down .
25. Grudge 1 bored me to tears. It was terribly tedious and felt forced, like it was trying to be The Ring, which was a good movie (not the second one.) Nothing about Grudge 2 excites me one bit.
