1. I'm stunned. Steve was such an enthusiastic personality you couldn't help but be drawn to his shows and documentaries. I was truly dissapointed when I didn't get to meet him while visiting Australia Zoo a few years back. A terrible tragedy. Rest in peace, Steve.
  2.
Oh, c'mon. No need to be a jerk. And if you are, at least be funny like Charles.
Awww, come on, that whole shebang was totally tounge-in-cheek. That's what this little guy is for. :p
  3.
I don't appreciate that sarcasm... this is the first time I've been able to get online in a while, and then Otaku explodes. Excuse me for being a little frustrated.
Since when can a website explode? And don't go giving me no server shizzle, because if that happened, goodbye to your posts, your profile, all our artwork, the whole shebang. :p Ever hear about the time OB was down for 6 weeks? I can see your anneurysm now...
  4. I used to be a big fan of SOAD, until I got tired of their songs. They all sound the same; all shouting, all the time. If I want a migrane, I'll put the CD back on rotation. Yes, I've still got one of their CD's. Only because I haven't been able to on-sell it and I'm too mucho of a miser to just give stuff away.
  5. Haven't used the saying in all of my existence. Never have, never will. How do you like them apples? Damn.
  6. The joy of living in New Zealand, I don't have much time for skunks, since they don't live in our beautiful country. Though, if we did have skunks over here, and one did in fact, spray me, it would soon be dead. It's self-peserving deterrent would spell it's demise.
  7. This is the image that stuck in my head... Imagine being that poor sucker. I can't believe it's been a year already, then again. I don't live there and have to deal with the clean-up and restoration of a city devastated. I can only imagine time dragging on for those who have to face the carnage every day. ~Love to New Orleans.
  8. It's thread like this you wish that Instantramen14 dude was still around. ;) In any case, we don't get Ramen over here in the good ole New Zea of Land, so I will use the generic term of "noodles." I like my noodles half cooked, so the noodle still has some chewiness to it, and isn't all horridly soggy. My favourite flavour is beef, can't go past a good red meat flavouring. Sometimes I'll even add my own beef stock if I the noodles I pick don't have enough flavour. You know, I've never tried straining the water before adding the flavour, despite not liking the wateryness of it all. In my mind's eye (or is that tastebud?) It tastes delish.
  9. The Hollow Chocoate Bunnies of the Apocalypse Author: Robert Rankin Year: 2002 It is a well known fact to those that know it well, that The Hollow Chocolate Bunnies of the Apocalypse, must-read. It is the best book I've read in ages. If you're a fan of Dragon Warrior's humor, you'll love this book. The plot is full of irony, sarcasm and satire, from page one to the very end.
Once upon a time Jack set out to seek his fortune in the big city - but when Jack finally gets there, it is Toy City, formerly known as Toy Town. And there is a serial killer loose upon the streets. One by one, the old, rich nursery rhyme characters are being brutally slaughtered. The Toy City police are getting nowhere; Bill Winkie, Private Eye, has also mysteriously vanished, leaving only his sidekick, Eddie Bear, to take care of business. But Eddie's ready, and when he teams up with Jack, the two set out on an epic adventure. Not to mention a lot of heavy drinking, bad behaviour, fast car chases, gratuitous sex and violence, bizarre toy fetishism and all-round grossness. Of a type not normally associated with Toy Town.
The book takes the angle of a detective novel, with many twists and turns along the way that will keep you guessing until the very end. Even then, you'll find yourself surprised at the outcome. This book is very much a dark humor offering, think a dark, murder-mystery Shrek, a much wittier version of Robots (which had the Rodney Copperbottom character seeking his fortune in the Big City as well...That's where the similarities end).and you'll get some inkling of what THCBOTA offers you. Despite the blurb talking about gratuitous sex and bizarre toy fetishisms, this book is actually very tasteful, not letting itself slide into pornographic detail and being restrained with the wordplay regarding the sex, wittling it down to a mere sentence or two. The book also abstains from actually using any swear words. at least until
the near-end of the book, where the word "Shit" was used to spectacular effect, capturing the moment of frustration and agony the characters found themselves in at the time.
I highly reccomend you check this book out. It's incerdibly entertaining and wiull leave you with a smile on your face.
  10.
yes im leaving cuz i dont come here much and the rules are too strict for online(no ofence but the mods are very good) now i leave you with my last topic what kinda shoes you were? :catgirl: bye bye!
You'll never know how much you're missed. I find shoes to be horribly overrated. I prefer to go bare feet. and in those pesky places where footwear is required. I paint them on. Just think. Some animal had to die so you could have something cushy to walk on and eventually wear out.
I wear black polished lace-up work shoes, pretty boring stuff. You gotta admit the "painted-on" story is much, much better.

  11.
The "-chan" and "-kun" for example? A few of my former friends found it necessary to do that all the time. They dreamed of going to Japan, because they'd convinced themselves they'd be happier there. Why? Because they think anime is the reality over there.
On closer examination I can see she is targeting those obsessive types. Yeah, I can understand that. This example makes me cringe. I was thinking of adding "-chan" and "-kun" to names more casually, in the same vein as you're british examples. Using them all the time? Probably out of context and applied in all the wrong ways? I can see how that would get downright annoying, frustrating even. I'm more inclined to Jenn's view now, after re-reading what she was actually saying. It makes a lot more sense when you step back and tackle the same article with a fresh perspective. Hiroshima angle included.
  12. Jenn needs to take a better look at what's happening before deciding to react this way. Because watching anime and applying chan or kun to the end of someones name isn't going to bastardise her culture, heck, it wont even taint it. It's overreaction, plain and simple. And as it happens, I don't think it is my God given right to (insert all that asiaphile mumbo-jumbo here) I beleive it is my God given right to watch what I want to watch, regardless fo it's origin. I'm sure anime producers feel the same way and that's why they go to great (well, maybe just good) lengths to get the stuff imported over to the US market. Do they feel bastardised by it? I doubt it. I'm sure they feel more honoured that their work is appreciated across the cultural spectrum. Jenn wants you to know everything about asian culture before you can be allowed to appreciate it. That is pathetic. And how exactly does Hiroshima factor into this? Appreciation for asian culture doesn't mean you have to disagree with Hiroshima. I happen to fully agree with what happened that day. America showed Japan that they needed to stop pulling this **** (Pearl Harbour) and it was soon over. Japan today is not the Imperial Japan of yesteryear that wanted to, you know, take the pacific for all it's worth. Where would they be today without Hiroshima? In any case, I will disregard Jenn's comments, and continue to be a casual Asian cinema and anime watcher. Got to go, I hear Rashomon calling my name.
  13. Ten Pin Bowling, the sport where you throw a heavy ball down a wooden lane, and try to knock down as many pins as you can. What are your experiences with ten pin bowling? Myself, I am a somewhat serious competitor. I have my own bowling ball and I regularly bowl on Thursday nights with my mates, who have a competition for a tournament shield, which is actually just a painted plastic plate. My highest score is 190, although this was somewhat a fluke. My avergae fluctuates between 100-125. I enjoy bowling, do you?
  14. I was born and raised a Catholic. Due to some issues I had with the Catholic theology, I decided to go elsewhere, and I am now a baptised, well, Baptist. :p I still beleive in the same, Christian God. I just worship him with a more liberal take on what worship can be considered worship. While the Catholic doctrine follows a certain ritual, or mass, to the letter. Baptist worship is more spontaneous and off the cuff. There's rock music too, rock music is good. I beleive it is up to you how you decide to worship God. Crhistianity is a more flexible faith/religion than most people realise.
  15. I don't usually click peoples sig ads unless they really catch my attention. Advertisers, take note.
  16.
And about Christianity being the "Master religion"....Paganism and Judiasim predates it. I for believe that the Goddess and God created us. Yes that's right I'm Wiccan. *shockshock*
It should also be said that Christianity is a religion inclusive of all races, an offshoot from Judaism, Jesus himself being a Jew. It is hardly a vehicle for white supremacy and Holocaust Denial.
  17.
P.S: I was talking about for times during lectures and after the clubbing and women. :p
Amazing as the DS Lite may be, I seriously doubt you'd want to play it after a round of clubbing and women. :p During lectures, however, that's a whole different kettle of fish. Be wary of the lecturer though, he might want to have a turn.
  18.
I heard this on the news yesterday. I was really into the Ramsey case and always thought that the mother did it out of jealousy for her daughter. I had forgotten much of the case until they showed the story recently on Lifetime. How odd that this guy was found a few days after they aired the movie..
Alot of people suspected the mother or the father, I'd be lying if I said I didn't suspect them at one or two points in time. At least now, guilt has finally caught up with the killer, and he's confessed. Closure for the ramseys and their murdered daughter. I still have to wonder what would have become of JonBenet if they just let her be a kid as opposed to prematurely maturing her via transforming her into a supermodel.

  20. I delete spammy jibber-jabber from my MyOtaku as soon as it appears. Spammers just waste their time with me, I loathe their horrid near-invisible coloured writing and their "omg come 2 mah site!!1!!!1one!!exclamationexclamation!" posts. They'd get somewhere with me if they followed your guidelines. :p

Familliar... dark atmosphere? The movies were almost scary owing to those wacky rubber suits that the Turtles were. I thought the series in itself was pretty light-hearted and tounge-in-cheek as opposed to being downright serious. I mean, come on, a talking brain for crying out loud! As you can see, I'm a product of the 80's series and films, not the crappy remake which siphoned the fun out of the series. I hope that this movie takes the original, more light hearted angle, but I feel it wont. Instead of a cool Shredder we'll get the crappy "Oh, I've got to be spawned from hell and look real evil looking and looking real evil looking isn't good enough arrgh!!1" The abscence of BeBop and Rocksteady, Vanilla Ice too, would be the only plus in this scenario. ~Who's up for some anchovie-laden pizza?
  22.

Aww, how could you kill something so cute? Those cullers sure look like they're having fun. Heck, if they've got to kill a million of the suckers, might as well make it interesting, right? How boring would lethal injecting 1 million dogs be?
  23. "The 15-year-old girl was moved into foster care. Her mother has been allowed supervised visits." So, the let rapists visit their victims nowdays? She shouldn't be allowed to just visit her daughter like that because she's the mom. It's that fact that makes this so disgusting and vile in the first place. How could she let her partner violate her like that? How could she join in? Some people become sceptical when you tell them the world is going to hell in a handbasket, well....
As sick as this is, it seems like lately you hear about more and more cases of this kind of behavior.
The world is going to hell in a handbasket.
  24. This was the initial idea for the new Miami Vice movie: Crockett and Tubbs were re-cast as a Crocodile and Camel duo, before fan outcry ensued.
  25. After losing his tree I'n a high stakes poker game, Squirrel McChubbs found himself unemployed and on the rocks. When his wife eventually left his deadbeat ***, McChubbs turned to alcohol and eventually drank himself to death... after 1 sip.
