Saw the movie today, and it was great! I didn't particularly enjoy the beginning, but the rest of the movie was superb. I haven't been to a movie in ages where I left with a lump in my throat, and I can't recall one that persisted this long!
Jackson's portrayal of Kong's death, noticeably, when the eyes faded, was deeply saddening.
I'd also like to commend Jack Black's performance, I was expecting him to do some of his more typical antics in this movie, but by the end, I didn't even have my expectant smirk. it was great to see him in a serious role, and one in which he did well. Kong was 3 hours, but it certainly didn't feel like that. The movie was engaging right througout.

Oh well, I would have liked to stay in the game longer, but I guess that's how the game played out. I was outwitted, outlasted and outplayed. No hard feelings, Bravers, Thanks to those of you who voted me to stay, and see you all around. To the Adventurers: Go get 'em! I want to see an original blue go on to win this thing. ;)

This year, I decided to do one image and several variations of it, instead of doing all different themes as such... As well as that one-theed Idea, I decided to keep the banners real simple, I reckon they worked. Pac wandered around the soplitary island that had been his home for hte last few weeks, and kicked about a fe rocks in anguish and fell backward on his hammock. "damn" he sighed. "all this way to have my fate hanging in the balance of the Bravers" He glanced sideways at Fox, who had on a couple of occasion already, helped him out in this game. Pac decided that he wouldn't feel right trying to allign himself with the bravers against him, and took a huge, contented sigh. He knew that, whatever way the vote from them fell, he was ready to stay, or go...

Peopkle go on and on about this "find the boeing" conspiracy like they expect to just find an intact Boeing just sitting there in amongs the ruins. Quite obviously, the plane, being a mere aluminium tube, was incinerated. You don't see people asking "where are the planes that hit the towers?" That's not just because there is such clear footage of them taking their fated flight, no, it is because they were clearly incinerated. So, a similar aircraft in Arlington can't be incinerated? Gimme a break! As for the hole in the building not being plane-shaped enough? Well, you just don't expect the wings to make as much impact as the body of the aircraft, simple as that. This is perhaps secodn only to the "chemtrails" in the scope of it's ridiculousness.

I use Wikipedia quite a bit, and I have contributed to some of the articles there. I like trying to find out information on random things for trivia, most of all. While it is true that Wikipedia can be edited by anybody, it also needs to be said that at any time, a Wiki page can be reverted to it's prior stage, and that is a safeguard against most nuisance makers out there who deliberately mess **** up because they can. If I see soemthing on there that is doubtful, i will usually try to verify the accuracy of the detail, and if false, revert it. Evidently, some of the vandalism falls through the cracks. I've had minor doubts about the accuracy of Wikipedia, but I don't think this latest escapade has damaged my trust of it at all.

2006 is the year in which I will get my license, have a better job than what I am doing currently, and it will also be the year I get things organised for going flatting and finding myself a love partner. But then agian, I said that about 2004 and 2005, so I'm not sure how reliable I am. Whatever the weather, the girl/boyfriend thing ranks highly among my resolutions.

I think it's just you, Tical ^.^ Peter Jacksons movies consist of Bad Taste, Meet the Feebles, Heavenly Creatures, The Frighteners, and Forgotten Silver, to name a few that weren't remakes. And if you want to get pedantic about it, neither was the Lord of the Rings trilogy, sicnde that was based on a book rather than a set of older movies. And the T-Rex thing? Well that all takes place on Skull Island, Kong's home, that T-Rex is a co-inhabitor that, obviosuly, doesn't get along too well with Kong. Kong is definately a protagonist although his actions do tend to castigate him as a villain,
Kong scaling the empier state building, swattign down planes and taking away Ann Darrow are all something we wouldn't consider of a 'typical protagonist'.
yet in the end, in the 1933 film and I guarantee you in this one too, We are made to empathise with Kong through the film, with his,
capture and display in NY, his confusuion and anger in the world of these bizarre humans, love of Anne, who is the only human to actually 'get Kong.' I mean, it is through his love of Anne that we get to see Kong's sensitive, caring, loving side, we see he is not some mere monster out of destruction and chaos, he lives and loves like us.
In light of that, if anything, I would say that the real antagonists of the Kong saga are humans.
-
I'm definately going to go see this movie, I'm lookign forward to seeing what Peter Jackson will bring to the Kong franchise. I'm happy that PJ is taking the setting back to depression era 1930's NY instead of doing another remake that updates everything. Kong belongs in the 1930's.

Gaming Do You Think Sex Should be on Video Games?
TheShinje replied to serenayasha's topic in Noosphere
Um, One thing; Charles isn't a Dude, He's a former Site Administrator, Should just clear that up.
Because, as everyone should know by now, becoming a site admin instantly makes you a chick. :p For the situation at hand, I really don't see a problem with sex in videogames, It doesn't interest me, and the Hot Coffee scenes in GTA:SA aren't exactly getting me leaping for my gameshark, but I don't care if the stuff is in there or not. The only problem I can forsee is copycatting. When sucessive anti heroes became popular in video games, creators of " fluffy" games like Spyro the Dragon, or Jak and Daxter, started putting an anti hero, badass spin on their usually light-minded characters. I have no interest, however, in seeing a randy Spyro anytime in the future. :wigout: -
If it is true that CN is planning to cancell TT, then I will continue to believe that the network is in fact a secret government program to see if they can actually train a bunch of monkey's to run television stations. Seriously, here is a great show that is a nod to japanim'e culture, and it's funny too. They're cancelling it why? There is a ton of crap on that network that should be axe fodder way before this show is even considered. Why don't they consider getting rid of something like Ed Edd 'n Eddy? That show is just plain moronic and only tries to be funny, they would do themselves a grater good there in the long run. Yet, they axe Teen Titans, which is, all things considered, a breath of fresh air.

"Well done, team, well done" Pac said, as the Adventurers headed back to Solitary Island to res tup for the next challenge. Pac then took a dip on the beach to relax and cool down, and fater that scooped up a muthful of fish and took them to the camp fire. "mmmm, fish!" Fox said as he grabbed the first fish to become fully cooked. "uh, coutn me out, I already have all the Omega 3 I need" Lara said, noting the fould look of some of the fish. Besides, the had been scooped up into Pac's mouth, and however sterile he claimed it was, it was still a little too much. Pac had his fill of fish and moved on, he strung up a little hammock, and decided to take a nap, after all, how much longer could the winning streak last, and therefore, how many more carfree days on the beach coudl there be?

I've seen most of 1st Stage and all of Second Stage series' of Initiald D, and it has become my favorutie anime. The graphics dont' even bother me, to be honest, I thought they are excellent. The fusion of 2D and 3D was done fluently enough not to worry me at all. The plot of Initial D is quite good, it twists and turns in some areas and in others, it languishes in episodes where all they do is sit around/drive around and talk about the big race, which ends up being 3 episodes away, those episodes still fit a purpose though. The add another little dimension into what would otherwise be a very flat anim'e series by bringign in more of the human element. Pity that soemtimes it gets a little annoying. But the only things that bug me about Initial D are that Tak never loses and Iggy is annnoying. -_-; I mean,
Tak should have lost when he blew the engine, period. the time was fitting and it suited the story to have Tak finally lose a race, and then, have the center on him coming to grips with the fact that he's not invincible, and while they did do that to a degree, it would have been more fitting if Kyle, the racer of the Lan EVO, had simply taken the win. pssh.
And Iggy will always be loudmouthed and annoying, he's so cringe-worthy. Aftet that, the series took it up a notch, bringins us the new '86,
same car, replete with a beast of a new engine and a massive power boost...after a while. The transition form the '86 we knew to the new era was my favourite point in the Initial D series. It was a season of change and upheaval, It was like an Initial D sweeps week. :p
I have enjoyed the series immensly, and look forward to getting 3rd and fourth stage series' here. I just hope Tak loses eventually so that it can seem less predictable, and more human. Otherwise Iggy got it right when he though Tak might be some kind of Alien.

Well, this week I was able to get my hands on a copy of Resident Evil 4, and already it's blown my misconceptions out of the water. When I heard about Resident Evil 4, I scoffed, and laughed at the notion that some villagers could be more freaky than zombies, I thought it was a lame Idea to do away with the zombies and completely overhaul the storyline, boy was I wrong. Having the villagers, or ganados, with the parasites, is a refreshing change to the series. The whole scenario where you've got to fend off villagers as they try to infiltrate the house is action packed and at the same time, eerily creepy, they're not zombies, but at the same time, it still borrows heavily from the zombie films genre in some regards. That whole scene just reminded me of Zombie movies. I am impressed by the level of A.I the ganados have, I kick down the ladders, they raise them up again, quite intuitive really. Thye make a much better bio-weapon than mindless zombies. I'm guessing the
parasite is the work of a remnant faction of Umbrella...
Another thing i'm really surprised about, is the knife, I saw it's usefuilness described here, but I didn't realyl grasp how the knife could be all that different from the old, useless, combat knife from the 1st few games. It has certainly saved my skin on a number of occasions, especially hwen ammo is sparse. But the greates memory I will have with this knife is defeatign the Ogre with it, with 1% health remaining! I'm not talking about merely slashing the parasite on it's back either, I actually bought it to it's knees every time with that knife, I wouldn't had I known ammo would work, but I mistook it for a boss my friend was telling me about where the most useful weapon against him is the knife. I don't think I have met up with that boss yet, because I also tried the knife on the big-bearded dude, much to my demise. :( I really enjoyed battling the
sea monster at the lake.
It was quite a challenge to get used to the harpoon controls, but in the end, i grasped them pretty well. It felt like Jaws Vs. Ahab. :p After that, I backtracked to get the Thing reference and moved on.
Right now, I am stuck at the castle area where you rescue Ashley from the holds in the wall and then fend off potential kidnappers. I lost her to one of them when I couldn't get a clear shot, dangit! I will try again later, because it seems that my game froze up when she got carried off, in fact, my game seems to always freeze when she get's abducted or killed. ahs that happened to anyone else?
With all I've seen so far, I'm definately buying RE4 when I next get the chance to.

Way to go koro....I mean.... Adventurers! PacMan is pleased with the outcome very muchso. The interesting thing about this game was I haven't really played any other Mario game apart from 64, and this is the world that I kept envisioning in my head, lol. I did my best not to mention anything that could potentially be 64-specific, but despite the latters 3Dness, the games seem much alike anyway. Oh, Des, Pacs ability to be flung far distances and then appear with the group would be due to the fact he's a ball and when he's flung, he'll bounce like a maniac. :p I have to say that, despite some little inconsistencies, I am quite pleased with the Adventurers storyline so far, look how consistent we kept Lemmingsitters, for example. I believe we are quite bonded in story already.
The reason why we fight today is because with the various new terrorist cells that have popped up "recently," MAD (Mutual Assured Destruction - learn about it) has become outdated. These terrorists don't give two ****s about destroying themselves--because they're already martyring with suicide bombings. You eliminate the lunatics, you achieve peace, simple as that. .
This point is itneresting, because I'm not too sure that MAD is completely outmoded in any regard. Say, for example, the administration threatened to nuke off Baghdad, and maybe Tehran if the terrorists did not stop, the terrorists in turn threaten to call a worldwide Jihad to erase the infidels, would any side make a move? Would the administration nuke the cities knwoing full well it would be the catalyst for a global jihad? And then, would the terroists call for a global jihad if that meant the annihilation of a good sized portion of the Middle East? I don't neccessarily think that being all for martyrdom means that they wouldn't give two hoots about their demise, I'm sure the terrorists woudl have in mind that nuclear strikes for their region, any region at all, woudl be catastrophic. It won't happen anyway, I don't think the Bush administration would have the support, nor the tenacity, to hang that little mistletoe over the insurgents heads. It's not so much a vote for war to end war as a vote for MAD to cease war, if that makes sense.

I think Baron has singled out the probable cause there. I think it's more a case of the similar threads box, as opposed to Google since even going through google you would need to register an account and then you would only be able to post in newer threads unless you tinkered with the display settings. Maybe if you could disable the similar threads box, there might no have to be anything done to the posts at all, that would save all the tinkering needed to make sure it didn't affect Anime/Play It/Arena. I don't see tha particluar feature serving much of a purpose anyway, to be honest.
-
I was browsing through the OtakuBoards today and saw a couple of resurrected threads that, again, had to be closed due to the fact they had been inactive for quite some time, and I had a thought. What if you could make it so that a thread, once it's past a certain expiry length, locks? I'm not sure how that could be implemented but it woudl sure save all these dead threads popping up from time to time. Either that or put something into the membership that disables the ability to post in old threads? I know that whatever could be done would have to be exempt for something like Anime Lounge, or Play It, due to the structure of the threads there, but I though of it more for Otaku Lounge and the Music Tv forum where dead/old threads returning are frowned upon. What do you think?

As Crash jumped to higher places in this world, Pac decided that it was best if he kept his non-existant feet to the ground for a while and scouted the horizons... It was then when he foudn the 'shroom, all shiny and red, and promplty ate it. now, that was just a little too easy Pac thought as the 'shroom made it's way down into his gut. All of a sudden, Pac heard a ticking noise coming from his gut, the 'Shroom had been rigged with a bomb! Quickly, Pac raced through the world, with the ticking noise growing louder and clearer, and upon finding a green pipe, hurled the 'shroom into wherever it went. "phew that was close" Pac sighed, waiting for the explosion, but the explosion never came. Then Pac burped and realised the ticking noise had been gas. "oh, crap, I wasted a shroom." Pac moaned. He quickly bounced away from the pipe, hoping to distance himself fromt he wasted shroom and any responsibility of it, and headed back to the bricks that Crash had jumped over previously. Pac then decided that it would be a good idea to take the path in the sky not taken by Crash, and find a shroom somewhere in the clouds. Pac then saw what he though was a castle, and he descended from the heavens to take a look. A funny toadstool like character kept telling him that the princess was in another castle, but he didn't care about no princess, maybe Mario would, he made note to tell Mario sometime that there was indeed a captured princess. There, underneath a tree, was a shroom guarded by more koopa. Pac bounced over a couple of them and grabbed the shroom, hurryign to escape from their clutches before they put the brake on his life. "phew, this time no more wasting 'shrooms." Pac grinned as he downed the 'shroom, making sure to ignore the gas this time. Pac grew and moved on from the castle, leaving the little toad a little bewildered that no one was actually panicking over the captured princess...

After Pac had promplty grown in size, he went to go and show off to his new teammates, to fidn that they had all found more musrhrooms. "Oh, Crap!" Pac sighed as he saw Fox and Shadow looking down on him yet again. Not wanting to hear any other jibes about being a "small bal" from Lara, Pac quickly bounced off to find soem more mushrooms. They had unfortunately, become sparse in these areas, and Pac feared that he might have to travel to world 2, when seemingly out of nowhere, a mushroom appeared. "oh, it is my lucky day!" Pac said with glee, rubbing his non-existant hand together. Just as he was about to grab the mushroom, a Koopa out of nowhere ran into him, inflicting damage. "son of a bi---" Pac groaned as he felt the life draining away from him. Pac lost a second life, and respawned in a much different location. "damn! I had that stupid thing!" Pac grimaced as he noticed Shadow and Lara out in the distance, searching for more shrooms. He coudl not be too sure, but he was quite certain that Crash had also found another Mushroom, at least it looked so. Pac decided that to get results, he'd have to get a taller teammates help, so quick as he could, he found Shadow, lookng for his own shroom. "Shadow," Pac called out. "I don't know about you, but I could do with a little help. whaddya say?" Shadow glanced at the Pac, suignificantly smalled than he, and sighed, "now why would I help you?" "because, If I don't get any 'shrooms soon, we're tribal council fodder!" "mph whatever," Shadow remarked. "here's a little help." Shadow then flung Pac to the farthest reaches of the world. Which left Pac a little shaken, but surprisingly damageless. And Just as he though Shadow had tried to get rid of him, he spotted it, it was the most beautiful mushroom ever. Pac decided that was because he hadn't seen a good 'shroom for ages, and promptly ate the shroom. A ragiing fire went through Pac's sphereness, and he quickly ballooned up a level. "Ah, now we're talking, Pac said, feeling a little proud again...

L337 H4XX04!|\|G 4[_]lZ!!1 Seriously though, all leetspeak does is annoy me, it is so annoying to try and figure out what these people are saying that I give up almost immediately. I figure if it was that friggin important, the least they could do is grammarize it. It seriously takes more typing and such to "l337 up" all those words, so it's useless as a shorthand, people use it to show how 'net-worldy' and 'cool' the are, but are only shown up to be inchoherent psycho babblers. PacMan mused over the absurdity of this world, it was one of the most bizzare places he had been too. The same bush that winked at shadow, also winked at him, and seemed to be calling out," eat me, eat me!" PacMan joined the rest of his teammates with a branch protruding from his mouth. When he saw how big his teammates had got, he dropped the hapless bush in awe. "damn, and you think blue pills are bad fro your health!" PacMan exclaimed as the taller Krystal, Shadow, and Lara looked down on him. "hmph, small ball" Lara joked. "hows the weather down there?" Krystal mused to the ball "hey, don't steal my joke" Shadow butted in. "oh, didn't know it was YOUR joke!" Krystal snapped back, obviously shadow hadn't coined the joke himself.... PacMan ignored the shenanigans, and went off to find a mushroom. He found a small little brown one that appeared to be moving, and promptly mouthed it before realising it was lethal. And with that, Pac was sent hurling into the ground below, to respawn with one less life, and a throbbing headache. "Damn, that was not nice." Pac groaned, it almost felt as wierd as splitting in half and withering into the ground, which was one of Pac's pet peeves. "Hey Lara, which of these mushrooms do we need to eat?" "The red ones." Lara boomed from the heavens, scaring Pac a little with her deity overtones. "okay okay, I think I've got it." Pac went around the world until he found a cluster of winking bushes, which upon seeing the mangled wreck of the first one, promptly stopped winking. Around them, Pac found two brown ones and jumnped on their heads to knock them out, to his surprise, they seemed to just pop. "man, this world is whacked!" Pac exclaimed as a red musroom came into view. Pac bounded over a couple of floating boxes and found the 'shroom behind a little brown fence, guarded by these strange turtle creatures. Pac bounded over the fence, and did his best to avoid the turtle thingy's, which, despite their bubbly cheery look, seemed intent on killing anything that looked like a player in this game. Pac finally got to the 'shroom, and after eating it, felt a little wierd. "hey, I think these 'shrooms have the same medicinal properties as the blue pills!" Pac exclaimed as the tingling grew more fierce, and he promptly exploded into a bigger sphere of his normal self. "well, maybe not quite the same" Pac remarked as he went to join his team, thankful he felt like he belonged in this wierd world, for once.

Pac-Man almost innediately volunteered to take acre of the mirror. "I've got big cheeks, I can hold it in my outh aqnd keep it safe." Pac suggested. "uh, no way." Shadow remarked,"you'd just end up eating it." "hey" Pac snapped back, "I overcame my accidental lemming eating to win us the game, didn't I?" "Everyone knows that you were going to eat them, you just ran out of time." "Whatever, whatever." Pac gave his first ever frown expression. "I'm still volunteering anyway, I'll show you there's more to Pac than eating..."
