1.
Lol, I had fun replying to Shinji's post. Pac-man is having withdrawl symptoms from the lack of blue pills XD
I had alot of fun working that into my Lemmingsitters post too. Poor Pac, he's feeling the grind not being high on his little blue pills, going cold turkey into the game was probably not the best diea, but he'll tough it out. He is, after all, a survivor of the ages, what's there to surviving without his pills really? p.s, I might act slow on some occasions, my bandwith limit is exceeded so getting on here realy hits the wallet deep. :(
2. Pac-Man, having decided to stay back alittle and watch the proceedings, bounded into action, promptly eating a lemming. "Noooo!, yo idiot!" Shouted his fellow teamamtes in alsmoit perfect unison ans Pac grinded and chewed on the ill-fated rodent. "huh, what? I supposed we were to eat them?" Pac said as he swallowed. "no, we're supposed to save them, get with the program!" Fox muttered as the adventurers piled together to stop some lemmings from walking off the chasm. "Damn, these thigns are stupid" Pac said as he tried to save a few, he though his mouth was big enough to hold a few until the end of the game, but when he foudn himself chewing again, it wasn't such a good idea." "well, they're not the only stupid creatures in this world." Fox remarked, hopping off to stop a few lemmings from being vaporized by a fire. Pac then decided the only way to stop the lemmings sliding off the chasm was to assign some blockers, so he bounced over to Crash to give him the idea, and they set about turning some of the hapless rodents into blockers. "thanks for responding to my pleas" Crash said to Pac as they were finished doing the blocking."Plea? Pac sopunded a little puzzled. "I didn't even know you were down here!" After a while, some lemmings decided to spontaneously build platforms over the chasm, and, much to the blue teams chagrin, they gave up halfway, and falling there, promptly died. "Oh, these stupid critters" Pac exclaimed as he scooped a couple itno his mouth, remembering he accidentally ate the last few, and spat them out to avoid the same mistake. Unfortunately for Pac, he spat them into water, which is a lemming's certain death. "pac, maybe you should sit down for a while." Fox called back" "huh, what, oh, yeah, that mgiht be....good idea." a disillusioned Pac murmured as he slid away."
3. You don't deserve abuse, no-one ever deserves abuse, It doesnt matter what you've done. I know it's not nice, it sucks to have no-one and I hated going through that. It's exceptionally sad to see that they seem to distance themselves away from you during the tough times you face, that's when a friend should be there for you, to comfort you and lift you up. They're just a bunch of sad losers to be honest. I was fortunate enough to finally find some people that did care about me, and they didn't shy away from me during my down times. I found that acceptance and for that I am grateful. I pray you do find some people who will genuinely care for you and be a true friend. Anyway, I've got plenty of love that needs sharing, so PM me if you wanna talk some more.
4. Interestingly, most of OB's controversial threads are littered with restraint and reasoned argument, it's probably one of the few places online I can share an opinion on something without being blown to bits for it. When you get someone who takes your objection to their views as a personal attack , you get problems. If people were able to be 100% objective and emotionally removed from the discussion, then their wouldn't be slides into flaming. I'm just happy that the ratio of controversail threads that actually do descend into fights or flame wars is relatively small here.
5. "I still reckon we should get some blue pills as our luxury item" Pac-Man said witha resounding no from the other team members. "look, just because you're addicted to those things doesn't mean we all want to get hooked." Shadow snapped back. "Oh yeah? What would you want, some golden rings I suppose?" Pac-Man retored. This was going to be a long, long journey. Pac-Man took some time out to get familliar with his surroundings, for this was no maze. He was happy that wild coloured ghosts didn't seem to live on this solitary island, and the island itself, well, it would do for a home. Pac would have preferred a maze, though, and he made no secret about that. "Alllright, I conceed the blue pill idea, but we need to come up with something fast." Pac-Man said to the other members of the blue feather tribe ans they sat down to ponder just what luxury item to bring.
6. My hero would most certainly be Jesus. Who else? Jesus is God in the flesh, God who decided that he would take on our sins and flaws so that if we call upon his name, we can be pure again. He came to destroy sin, and put Satan in his place. The sad thing is, many followers of Jesus have made fuddled rules and kept many things exclusive to them. The real message is come to Jesus with an open and repentant heart and be saved, man has twisted that into "do this, do that, and then be saved." Because of that, many people have turned away from Christ's offer. But, no matter how far you turn away from that, he's always there to welcome you back the second you decide to follow him. one of the most blessed people in the3 bible is the prodigal son. That's why Jesus is my hero. He's awesome.
7. I like the idea some other sites, eg, Worth1000 or DeviantArt, have adopted, where you pay for a premium service and get no ads, or use credits to buy blocks of ad-free time. That would pay for the adspace and provide the user with the option to disable them or not. I'm personally unfased by them, but it would be cool if the option was there, I know you're looking at adopting a premium service, so is that possible?
8. The party was suddenly interrupted by a yellow ball bounding into the arena, thinking it must have accidentally crossed into the CPU via the park, CJ kicked it out of the CPU. "hey! what was that for?" the yellow ball responded, coming back and making sure to show his pizza-slice mouth. "I came here to play the game, not get kicked around like a ball, you gotta problem?" "Pac-Man? oh, my bad," CJ shouted back, in a way that everyone wondering if he was sorry, or sarcastic. Pac-Man looked around the big blue expanse, he felt he had been here before, it looked somewhat like the eaten ghost room of his games. "Kuporiffic!" the host moogle exclaimed, "welcome to the game, my crack-addicted friend" This got the attention of CJ, a yay snorter in this game? "No. hell no, Mog!" Pac-Man quickly corrected. "Ever since those bloodhound jerks released that song, I've been getting crack jibes form everyone!" Pac-Man obviously lamented the reputationr recieved. "Kupo!" the host quickly moved on," So, did you bring your item to the game? "Sure did" Pac-Man replied as he drew out the blue feather." I guess that means I'm in the blue feather tribe huh?" "Yeah, somethign kupo like that" the host replied back. \\\Confession cam\\\ I've come here to play this game, and there is some stiff competition here, so I'll have to be on my guard. Being one fo the only 2D characters here, I'll be the first targeted for deletion, but I'll show them all how tough a competitior that I can be. ///confession cam/// Pac-Man headed over to the area of the CPU where the blue feathers had gathered,a nd started talking away, attempting to form early alliances....
9. I like dang near anything! But, I like the christian releases the most, and people tend to group all christian music into one category regardless, not minding how diverse christian music actually is. I mostly listen to the rock/punky type stuff, but I have room for anything else depending on the situations, or my listening mood in general.
10. Interesting, most interesting. I think that you should conduct an investigation into the side effects happening to the OBer's that weren't included into your experiment. That'd be interesting, most interesting...
11. The biblical prophecises are not as vague as you would readily believe. They are not some "oh, there will be a war some time in the future at some place, yeah, ho hum hee." The prophecies are straight to the point, pulling no punches. Consider the tiny nation of Israel. It was prophecised that the nation would be scattered, then bought back in one day! [Isa 66:8; Mic 5:3] No other nation has ever achieved restoration from utter desomation to becoming a nation again. not Rome, not Egypt, yet, little ole Israel did it. And it was bought back, and ratified by the U.N in one day. Vague? Yeah, right.
9. There would be an increase in earthquakes-Mt 24:2,3,7; Mk 13:8; Lk 21:11. This prophecy is correct. Note: One might think as the earth settled over a period of time that earthquakes would decrease like ripples in the water. Yet the Bible indicates the opposite is true. In this last generation, research from the U.S. Geological Survey, National Earthquake Information Center reveals that major earthquakes of a magnitude of 6.0 or higher have remained relatively constant during this century. However, the total number of earthquakes in recent years appear to be rising. For example, it was reported that in 1986, the total number of earthquakes was 12,718. In l990, it was 16,612. In 1994, it was 19,371.
It's most interesting. I don't think that anyone who has done any unbiased reserch into the prophecy can say that they are vague, there is plenty of evidence the are nore accurate than that.
12. My first crush was at age 11, with a friend of mine called Kyle, I didn't know what the heck was going on with me, just knew that it felt funny when I thought about him. First real serious crush was at 13, with a girl called Rachel, I knew her all my school life but in the end really ended up having feelings for her. I discovered that it was the feeling of love, remembered how I felt about Kyle those years back.... felt a little wierd after that. :p As far as relationships go, nothing ever came out of etiher crushes.
13. I would get myself a nice house, flash sports car, and start a business in the Graphic design industy. Anything left over would be squandered on amenities, stereos, big screen TV's and pizza! I'd like to give a little to charity, but I don't have a charitable bone in my body. Besides, if I was given that amount of money, then I wouldn't dream of giving it away, that would be...insulting to the original giver. :animeshy:
14. Mog: Hi there, kupo. What is your name? kupo. ???: Well, it ain't Kupo, that's for sure.... the name's Pac-Man. Mog: ok, kupo. Do you have a picture for us, you know, so the textual audience can see you, kupo. Pac-Man: The name isn't kupo! It's pac-man, and I'm sure the textual audience will know what I look like, you know, yellow pizza dude with a missing slice for a mouth, ring a bell? Mog, uh, yeah, kupo, but for games sake, we need a pic! Pac-Man: Fine! [Here] you go! Mog: Kupo, so what kind of game ya from?: Pac-Man:I come from a retroriffic little series called, of all things, Pac-Man! I'm married to miss Pac-Man, and she has a few of her own games too. Mog: Kupo, so, what kind of genre is your game where you are from, Pac-Dude? Pac-Man: Platformer I guess, well, I spend my time running away from ghosts and eating little blue dots. I eat the blue ghosts as well, I'm hungry! Do you have any spare blue ghosts? Mog: uh, no, kupo. Anyway, what's your personality like, kupo. Pac-Man: Angry little pizza dude, I don't like any of these new young punks who come into my territory and think they're all that just because they have a 3rd dimension, I'll kick their *** and take their names too! In comparison, my battles with DigDug were more of a challenge to me! Man I hope he signs up for this thing so we can sort out our 20 year vendetta! Mog: Kupo! So, like, what are your special talents? Pac-Man what, besides kicking ***, my obviously awesome humor, and having an unlimited appetite for blue dots and ghosts? Longevity, I guess, yeah, the girls are still calling me! (but I'm married though,) Mog: Kupo, very kupo, so, what was you movite for joining otakuboards survivor? Pac-Man: to show the punks in the 3D realm that they are still no match for my retrorifficness, I'll show the gaming world once and for all that you can't beat me! DigDug found that out the hard way, now it's these punks turn. I'm going to take them back to school. Pac-Man school. ~_^ Mog: Good luck to you, kupo. Pac-Man: My naime isn't Kupo! AAAARGH! :animesigh
15. Yeah, the butterfly looks real awesome, maybe if you have a bit more time someday you might like to go back and render the background as well since the butterfly, good as it is, sticks out against the plain leafs in the background. It does look real from the thumbnail too. I'm not sure if it is intended, but you got two of the butterfly's white dot's jutting over the black outline, I think it would look much nicer if they were cut off at the beggining of the wing outlines. All in all, good job, good job.
16. Here is another picture from my Rising Sun anime series. This is mor eor less a generic portrait of Jack, for use with RPG's and/or reference pics. I've drawn him hiding something in the pic, can you see? It's a little easter egg.
17. Well, I have had a few usernames in my time on OB, I will briefly describe what they were about. SaiyanGohan2002: My first name derived from the Dragonball Z character of the same name, his race, and they year in which I joined the boards. Nuchlear: This name came about because of my hotmail address, i added a silent "h" to be able to get nuclear without adding numbers. People thought I typoed the name, so I changed it.... SunRiZe: ....Into something so n00ish! I seriously don't know what was going through my mind with that one. S@bretooth: I didn't want a n00bish name, but the @ for the a was an attempt to make a less serious name, one that could be taken comically, without being over-the-top n00bish, I don't know if I succeeded. Shinji: I took this name after seeing, and liking, Evangelion. This particular username has quite a history with OB, and I was unaware of that at the time. I like the name, however, and have stuck with it. Evil Jedi: My last username change was a reference to Poisontongue (now Brasil) calling my attention to the theory that the rebel alliance in star Wars are really the agressors of the saga, hence, Evil Jedi. I changed back though. Shinje: Shinje is a variation of Shinji I sometimes use (eg. Shinje's Graphix) it's a little nickname, It is pronounced Shinj; Shinji wihtout it's "i"\ While the temptation was there to ratify it as an official name when I changed back from Evil Jedi, I liked it better as a casually-used nickname. :smirk:
18. I live in a small pacific Country called New Zealand. New Zealand is pretty cool, we have a population of about 4 million people and the greates Rugby team int he world. Australia likes to debate this, but yeah, Australia likes to whinge. :p Places to Go: Auckland Skytower: I though King Kong was going to scale this int he latest movie! Cathedral Square: Nice meeting place revolving around a neat old neo-gothic cathedral. A Rugby Game: Be it provincial or international, our rugger is the best rugger, so yeah, it's a treat to see. :p
19. I took another shot at it as well, I decided to use PacMan this time...
20.
Also, in many games, cut-scenes only take up 40 minutes or an hour or something. Translating that to a two hour (or more) film is not easy without adding things, I'd imagine.
I thought this little quote hit the nail bang on the head. When a game is converted to the big screen, the most obvious flaw is it's time, the cut-scenes aren't enough to fully establish a movie, because the focus of the game is the playable scene themselves. I draw parralels to doing the screenplay for the Grinch, a 4-5 page book. when dealing with such little material, directors need to put something else in/ add to the story for the movie to be able to keep it's audience for 2 hours. The worst of these games-to-movies would ultimately be Mortal Kombat. The game, at least the early iterations the movie was based on had next to no story, and that worked for the kind of game it was because the action that the player directed is story enough. Basing a movie on a game where the only story is defeat a dude, move up etc, then vanquish the top dog, and throwing a mediocre story in there to keep the audience, was foolish, funnily enough, it earned a sequel, which also flopped. Theres also sticking too true to the story. Uf the plot of Resident Evil had been identical to the one in the first game, how ,mamy would have complained about the total predictability of the movie? I reckon that, in an alternate universe where Game-movies are sticking 100% true to the story, unoriginality is most certainly their sticking point.
21. I prefer the original smilies to the anime ones, I've grown quite fond of them since I started coming here, especially the :p smiley, It's just so cheeky! I don't mind the anime ones either and their addition added some variety. As for the future of the smileys here, I reckon we should do something along the lines of the avatars with the smileys, have forum members create a few and send them in, we could get a whole unique library of our very own.
tounge remix by your's truly ;)
I'd like to see bigger, MSN messenger style smilies make their way onto OtakuBoards, I reckon they'd go down a treat.
22. Singature marriages through a forum don't appeal to me at all. I remember there was that phase in OtakuBoards history where there were all these sig marriages poppin up all the time, but they've quitely faded off, like the one-hit novelty it was. Add to that the whole "I don't really know these people IRL" thing, and marriage, even a candid sig one, is bizzarrely odd, lol.
23. I decided to have a crack at making the logo... It's a little darker than, Lrb or Doukeshi's. So I guess it's all down to which way you wanna swing. *puts on Vader voice* Come to the dark side. ;)
24.
Interesting, most interesting. Finally on December 12th 2001 I joined under the name Red XIII after the Final Fantasy VII character whom I'd come to think was rather cool and started posting with a more purposeful approach, that being an attempt to understand that rather and sometimes unnecessarily complex story inherent to all Final Fantasy games. As Red XIII I moved into the forum I now frequent the most and have always felt the most comfortable in: The Arena or The Square as it's now called.
You were Red XIII? I wondered where you'd got to, didn't realise that you had changed names. I came to this place in Version 4, under my username Saiyangohan2002, which I despised because i put a date on it, I just generaly hang around the Dragonball forum, until that got old. I can't say that I came for the post quality, or anything. I just came along because I saw this great anime hub that I hung around for Dragonball information had a forum. If you saw my first post, you'd know I didn't come for the quality, lol. Then, I instigated a series of name changes that would lead me to Shiniji. I changed to Evil Jedi this year but changed back, Shinji is the name I'm associated with now, and changing it again and all the hassle of getting re-aquainted with your buddies, I don't have the energy for it, lol. I'm probably best known for my S@bertooth days though, those were my most active.. I'm not to be confused with the V2 Shinji. lol.
25. Well, my username derives it's origin from a character in Evangelion, and it's pronounced Shin-gee. It's like your hurting shin, and then saying oh, gee! Chabi, I always thought your name was islamic, or japanese lol. I also thought you pronounced it Chab-i-Chow. :p
