I've met Peter Jackson, of LOTR fame, before, on a train either going to, or leaving, Arthur's Pass. At the time I met him, he was filming The Frighteners. That was pretty cool, I heard that he was thinking of doing a film version of LOTR while travelling on a train... I wonder...

I find the Simpsons ot be just as funny as it always has been. Sure, there has been a change in direction, and now the jokes are more blatant and out there, but I like that too, it doesn't have to be sharp written and subtle to get me to laugh. I do like to go over the old episodes again, because I do find certain jokes that, since I was younger, I cimpletely missed. I don't think that they're any better than the new episodes, however. Michael Jackson: Guilty or not Guilty?
TheShinje replied to foxfire_2008's topic in General Discussion
Good point, Baron. It's always boggled my mind how people like the security guard, who supposedly saw some pretty horrific child abuse, didn't go to the authorities the moment they witnessed it. By then coming forward now, they just look like they're jumping on some witch-hunt bandwagon, which undermines the prosecutions case. -
I think that the "casual" gamers described here are actually hardcore gamers. Casual, to me, doesn't invoke images of someone who's going to own the game for 10 hours and beat it at breackneck speeds, that's hardcore. As for trading the games in after owning them 2-or-less days, that concept seem rather silly to me. You won't get retail price for your trade-in, so you lose money by trading it back. That's hardcore. Casual gamers like myself just rent them from video stores, hardly ever finish them, and return them after a week. :p

I personally would like to see the Google one's over any type of flash banner. they are the most non-annoying and are relevant to the things you type in your MyO. I absolutely loathe those "OmG sh00t that thing1!!11" banners. :p

Here's a banner/avatar combination.
Memories are another matter entirely. Those cannot change. Past experiences can come back to haunt us. We, as human beings, evolve. We face these past demons with newly accquired skills, logic and conviction. We can tie up loose ends, but somethings aren't meant to change.
Hmm, interesting. If I had the power to change ym past at will, I would want those memories to stay. Like i've learned from the past and at the same time, bettered my present. I would still want the memories of a screwed up timeline, i guess. I know that it would never happen, and I would probably die of fright if I did one day wake up and I was 12 again. Still, it's quite a fanciful though to go back mentally and mull over what you'd do, with the knowledge you have of today. Adahn is right though, if you don't like your cirumstances now, change them today.

If you could change your past, what would you do differently? I think about this quite often, beginning this year, on how nifty it would be to go back and do things differently. For me, I would change my school work ethic. I would recognise that the path I was travelling down was going to lead to dead end supermarket BS, and worked better at my grades. Socially, I would relish the opportunity to make new friends, and not screw up some old frienships as well. There's also the idea of toying with old enemies using the mentality I have today (eg, and IQ advantagde) being quite nifty in itself. I'd definately go back and change things in a heartbeat. But I don't mean butterfly-effect movie type when you flash forward again after setting right a wrong, I mean living the last few years over again, as if they had just been a big premonition dream. That's my take on it, anyway.

I've stayed up all night before, not all on the computer though. I've also had people in my house telling me to get some sleep too, but that's part of the territory, of sleep being a normal, everybody-does-it thing. Sometimes I just don't feel like everybody, lol.

Pope John Paul II was a great man of God. He will be sincerely missed by both catholics and non-catholics alike. JP2's legacy will be a hard act to follow, his papacy will be remembered for years to come.

Okay things are lookign good. I'll keep the sign-ups going over easter, and then i will post up the RPG. One more thing. It seems that there are two "Zion" alliegances. You might like to clarify if that is, er, good Zionism (freedom, treaty upholding) or Zionist rebels (Smith-releasing clan)

Terri Schiavo may not have much of a life, but she still has a life. I don't believe that it is anyone's right to deny that life to her, no matter how vegetative she is. Who's not to say they might find a solution, a cure someday? Retrieving data....... Name: Isaac Ashton Age: 21 Alliegance: Zionist Hacker Weapon: Not-too-flash sawn-off shotgun from the old world. Background: ______Isaac is the ring-leader of a group of Zionist hackers determined to destroy the Matrix, unlike other freed minds, Isaac sees the Matrix as nothign but a sleeping threat, and the scriptures of neo, rather than calling for peace, call for underground war. Born in M.D 2990, Isaac was one of the first post-neo minds to be born outside the Matrix, as a teen, he alligned himself iwht the Zionist front to combat the threat of machinekind. Now, as the time for the release of Smith approached, Isaac looked back and gave a smile of contempt. Finally, these machines were going to get what was coming to them. Isaac clutched the smith culture under hois arm, boarded hsi ship, and headed for machine city.

My MyOtaku (sic) I use my MyOtaku to either, post about my day, rant about the latest movies, or talk about my latest projects. The theme changes constantly, as I'm either never happy with it, or I find soemthing else that I want to plug. Right now, i'm using a War of the worlds theme, but I mgiht change this for easter. My Page is a bundle of surprises, you never know what's going to go up from day to day. Ther is even an easter egg hidden on the page for those adventurous enough to try and find it. :p
Well, file sharing may seem harmless and all, but the industry does suffer pretty badly with each file exchanged. With all the conceving, planning, recording, and tweaking that went into every individual song, the final sum is a pretty hefty one. And to think that, they won' t get their $9.99 for their CD might not seem like the end of the world to you, but when you considering HOW many people aren't paying for it...that's alot of potential profit lost.
For a full album over here, we pay $30 bucks. Now, i don't have a problem with that, and I do eventually get the albums to support the artists. The problem is that, for $30 bucks, that might be a little too severe for some people, who then resort to downloading their favorite songs for free. If the music industry let up on some of their massive profits (not a heck of a lot of that $30 goes to the artists) then they may be able to stop most downloading going on today by placing their product within reach of most people. They might very well find out they stop their problems for the most part by acting as a positive force, rather than using this negative "stop or we'll beat u up!!" mentality

Skin bleaching? Jackson has Vitiligo. http://www.niams.nih.gov/hi/topics/vitiligo/vitiligo.htm I'm not sure if he's guilty or not, it's too sooon to tell, the cross examinations haven't finished yet. The boy's story seems to have changed quite a bit. this whole situation is not helped by the fact that Tom Sneddon has been after jackson for such a long time. It's possible that his judgement might have ben clouded, and he's jumped on this chance to have another go at Jackson. There is no doubt in Sneddon's mind that jackson is a child molester, wether he is or not is another story.

What are your opinions on file sharing? Do you think that file sharing is wrong, or do the ends justify the means? I feel that file sharing is ok within reason, myself. I use the program I've got to listen to music before I buy it. I've used it to search and find new bands and performers that I wouldn't have even heard about if I was limited to radio. I always go later on and buy the CD's if I like the band, or delete the mp3's if I don't. That's how I feel that my use of such file sharing applications is fine. it's responsible, and it's a win for the music industry too. Flie sharing, yay or nay?

This violent and long-lasting war culminated in two cataclysmic events: The scorching of the sky and the enslavement of mankind into an energy sourcing program called The Matrix. The Matrix on a subconscious level was made to resemble past-day earth, and keep the humans in check, and submission. Therein lay a deeper level to the machines thinking. Give the humans hope for a better future. and so, it was done. the Machines created a system by which the humans could have hope, in the form of being freed by an entity simpyl titled "The One" And for a while... It was good...... Machine created smith, in it's own image. Smith was an agent of the system, created to chase down renegade programs and virtuous hackers. Smith was one of the machines top programs, unfortunately, Smith failed. The One had violated his being, and the two of them had exchanged certain abilities and strengths. Smith had now become a renegade agent. The machines had not claculated this into their plans, and ultimately their Matrix came crumbling down around them. The machines, in a desperate bid to retain their power, brokered a deal with The One and mankind, a lasting truce was formed in Machine city, with the One successfuly brokering a deal allowing all people to be enlightened tot he truth, and those willing to stay in the Matrix could. And for a time, it was good. Nothing lasts forever, as the machines were about to find out. A culture of the smith program, that had been kept for archival purposes, had been leaked into the hands of Zionist hackers, who's only though was complete destruction of the mechanical lie that was the matrix. They released the Smith program back into the mainframe, much to the dismay of the machines. There was no neo to save the day. The One had fulfilled it's purpose and hadn't been continued so. With time running out, the Machines turned to both human fighters and Agents of the system, to come together as one and eliminate Smith once and for all. The Sign Up:: Welcome to the archive::_ _you have selected_background.txt For our current ttruggle agaisnt htis new and formidable threat, There are two sides to this coin. you can now choose to align with either agent's of the system/human operators or the renegade program/zionist hackers. Zionist hackers believe that, while humans still have a choice, made possible by neo, to stay with the Matrix or be freed, they still see the Matrix as a potential threat. a dormant system which would one day rise again to take down humanity. They don't trust the machines, and have formed an uneasy alliance witht the renegade progam's to furthe rhteir ideals. Agents of the system, and human operators are working to keep the delicate balance of peace together. I thought it was a pretty good movie.
I didn't like the deer scen much either, although it did give me a jump when the first deer rammed the car. A pack of ravenous deer smashing up a car? I still can't take that scene seriously. Comic relief?
The first movie was better though, it had more varying scenes and exploration of the video's cotnents, and how that tied in with what happened to Samara. I wouldn't mind contrastign the American versions with the original Japanese ones. I found out recently that my local video retailer has them.

On the occasions that I have changed my OB User Name, i have left the fomer username tag in for a few weeks. I usually keep my banner and avatars for a while too, to aid in the re-adjustment. I don't see a big deal though. If a member doesn't want to have the former username in the sig, that should be up to that user. The only problem I see is the member might find himself re-aquainting with his/her online friends more often that way. :animesmil

Take, for example the tale of Noah and the tale of Gilgamesh. Both are similar stories written at approximately the same time, yet the probability that the Earth was completely flooded during mankind?s (and I am not referring to the legendary Mick Foley) existence is pretty much nil.
I tend to think of the siimilarities between the Gilgamesh epic and the Biblical flood as evidence that there may have been a worldwide flood. There is also an Australian aboriginal tale about a worldwide flood, both including the animals in a boat. I suppose that these tales are of the same worldwide catastrophe, as told form diffrent perspectives.

It's not a religion, it's simply a belief. A religion is a set of rules, a structured order, and this is one of the main reasons I don't even call my own Christian faith a religion, as it takes on many different forms and expressions. Religion however, is a structure that must be strictly ahdered to. So, atheism is not a religion, because those who practice atheism don't have a religious order, or a way they go about things. Ever wonder where the term "doing (such-and-such) religiously" came from?

Mitch, I don't think that nut-jobs high on drugs could have possibly wrote the bible. Think about it for a second, most of these people didn't even know each other, especially the prophets (with the exceptions of the apostles) and yet they write of the same God with very little, and no serious, contradictions. It all seems like they knew each other and collaborated because it's bundled together in the same book. (think of a DVD movies box set containing horror movies, it doesn't necesarily mean they're all from the same director) As for thee apostles, well, they turned an ran, abandoning their God as he was crucified. why would they then go out and be willing to be martyred for something they knew after this to be a lie? Or why would they decide to die for their drug-induced story? Soemthing must have happened to these men, and I believe it. One last thing. People of faith aren't brainwashed necessarily. I was brough up a catholic, and then, through research and free-will, changed my faith. No real reason to put that in other than to show you that I can make my own decisions, I guess.

It's not fair. There are many different levels of Metal and varying messages behind it also, I'm quite a big fan of Christian metal bands like Day Of Fire (anyone into Drowning Pool should chek them out) and they're not neo-nazi's at all. I'm sure that Nazi music can, and does, come in all forms. Nazism is a political movement and thus, there's bound to be varying peoples with diffrent tastes adhering to their philosopihies. But people are quick to label music and fit it into a box. Wheras soem believe that only certain types of people like certain types of music, the result is really shades of gray rather than black and white.
