Name: Shaun Callsign: Spyder Age: 18 Appearance: Black, short spiked hair, black top with a number 3 emblazoned on it, and ripped jeans. (pic shortly) Biography: Shaun, or Spyder as it were, was one of those faithful models, a great service to his community, and a dear friend to those whom he served in his daily life. Spyder wasn't of the dissenting type. That all changed on December 7th 2507, Spyder was overcome with a fierce rage after waking form a terrible dream. The rage was all-encompassing and very powerful. Spyder, no longer able to control his rage, lashed out at members of his family, killing them, and also at those whom he served. This had a profound effect on Spyder, after all, what made him do such a horrible act? Spyder, concerned for the safety of those remaining in his family, took flight out of the center of Novus Concordia, and planned to live a life in the shadows, of the far reaches, where he could hurt no one. Though, after a while, spyder came right. He discovered that a mysterious virus had overtaken him. After all, those who did not know of this virus were only the kind found living under rocks. He also knew that there was no such cure for this disease, so how did he survive it? Spyder came to the conclusion that the virus had only partially entered his system, and while controlling him, had no time to fully incubate and download. He was one of those lucky ones. About the same time, he had heard of the X-Hunters, a squadron of Reploids determined to see an end to this evil. This interested Spyder greatly. He had no qualms about bringin the "spyder brand" brand of justice to these anonymous jerks who had taken his livelihood away from him. With nothing to lose and everything to gain, Spyder ventured out to seek the X-Hunters, to join the cause, and bring about an end to this menace. Affiliation: X-Hunters Primary Weapon: modifiedlaser gun. Finding a gun was pretty interesting, a valuable find. But finding it didn't work? Now that was a pain in the ***! thus, the modifications came about. About the only physical change is the colour of the laser, which went from blue to green. As much as Spyder thinks that it has improved accuracy, it's all psychological. He still frequently misses targets and is "in training" as it were. Secodnary weapon: Since Spyder has no other weapon as of now, his matrial arts training is more or less the equivalent. Defense Mechanism: Spyder has a force field, that he activates with a password. that he is able to place on himself in mere seconds. This force field can deflect almost anything, yet it does take considerable damage form the heavier blows. Still, it has come in handy in so many of those desperate situations, that he would never be able to part with it.

What do otakus think about Homosexuality?
TheShinje replied to Miryoku's topic in General Discussion
I have a question to ask the detractors of the "slippery slopes agrument" The point has been raised quite a few times in these threads, about Homosexual marriage being the gateway to other marriages, say, to an animal or a cousin. Detractors of this argument say that it is a totally different thing, and it's immoral and sickening. No-one seems to agree with the prospect of marrying an animal, or cousin, for obvious reasons. Yet, take a step back here, isn't this what was said about Homosexuality? Homosexuality was considered evil, immoral and sick, just like bestiality or incest is now, yet, it grew to become more widely accepted through tolerance and understanding. I'm not condemning here, I just want to know how you can be sure that this won't in fact open some sort of doorway that will lead to sexual practices of other, more questionable kinds being accepted, give or take about 50 years or so. I mean, if the pattern of acceptance begins for such things, will it not fulfil it's due course? -
*speaking as character* There I was, thinking this was quite a fantastic world to be spawned into, yet, as I was giving my props to the programmer, my mind changed. What the hell was that ms-paint speech buble look-alike? Did the programmer's standards drop? There is NO PROGRAMMER!
Recently in Australia, The goverment has been laying down increased Training for P-Platers after a series of Accidents involving P-Platers. So to counter the amount of accidents, the goverment have layed down an extra training program. I know that this doesn't apply to me , being 16 and all but They fail to recognize one thing....... There will always be accidents, especially with the street racing fad around and the usuall just act like an idiot.
Of course there will always be accidents, even they know that. The government has obviously seen a upward slide of accidents amongst P-platers, and acted upon it. People who participate in those illegal street races shouldl have their licences revoked. period. They create nothing but menace and are often quite intimidating. As a learner driver,I didn't think much of joining hteir activities anyway.
They have created a bit of a curfew, meaning that P-Platers coulding go out driving after 10pm. For chrissake, they are out of school and are old enough to drink and drive.
The curfew is reasonable. Over here, we have had it for quite some time. What does it matter if they are old enogh to drink-drive? That itself is an offense and in no way justifies the lifting of a curfew. It's like saying that this rule shouldn't apply bcause the P-platers are old enough to do worse, lol.
P-Platers have also been banned from high powered cars ( All for this one because nearly all of the accidents i hear about involve some bastard P-Plater in a Skyline and such.
You don't need a super-charged v8 gas guzzler to learn to drive. and the less power, the better. Over here, you don't get a car until you are on your Restricted license. This is basically a full license with a curfew. Until that time, I am using my dad's car to learn. Not much point in having my own car just yet, lol. After all, you wouldn't peice together a nuclear bomb if you were only just beginning to learn chemisty, would you? I really don't see a problem with what they are doing.

20 going on 21 right here. I joined the boards in 2002 after browing TheOtaku's Dragonball collection. I stilll like a little bit of Anime, such as Evangelion, but I mostly come here to discuss the latest movies, music, or just have a general chit-chat in the Otaku Lounge. Time spent online has greatly diminished over hte last year or so, I find it hard to think of new topics, and/or don't hold too strong an opinion on current ones.

I had this idea pop into my head a few minutes ago... Is it possible to create an option for MyO, where you can place a background image on your sidebar? the one on the left, that is. I'd like to be able to create images for the sidebar that would be a part of my style, if it's possible.

What do otakus think about Homosexuality?
TheShinje replied to Miryoku's topic in General Discussion
I thought I'd just throw in a little FYI, concerning the homsexuality found among animals. As Christians, we believe that we are set apart from the animals. This means that finding homosexuality amongst animals isn't a free license to practise so. Animals don't have the law, or the Bible. Some animals eat their own young... but I think that's been brought up in this thread already, so I won't beat a dead horse here. Again, not being 'homophobic' here, I'm just sick of that argument is all. -
I'm opposed tot he death penalty under any circumstance. Most of that stems form my Christian upbringing "He who is without sin cast the first stone" and the Bible's idea of forgiveness for everyone, no matter what the crime. All sin is the same under God. I do believe, however, he should be sentenced to life in a correctional facility. I'm not advocating murderers andsociopaths just walk away with no punishment, lol.
Btw, Shinje(sic).. would you care to explain why you're against the Civil Union Bill? I know it's just like marriage, and it symbolizes what marriage is, but without the Christian ties. Why don't you think your homosexual friends should have the same rights as other heterosexual couples have?
I don't think I quite explained that well enough, lol. Again, I see marriage as a sacred union between man and woman, yet I advocate the rights of my friends and the homosexual community to receive the same rights as heterosexual couples. The main problem wihtt his bill, is it was rushed through parliament wihtout referrendum or the appropriate ammendments to effectively distance it from marriage, Civil unions, I'm all for them, it's an olive branch of sorts, to extend God's free will to all peoples. Yet, Civil unions should not be as close to marriage, they should be more like civil relationships, this bill was effectively the same bite of the cookie, only without the cleverly rewritten marriages act, which is what Civil Unions, in their present state, are. And I know a lot of people who feel this is right, but i feel uneasy about it, to be honest. I guess as long as they don't force churches and other organizations that digress on the issue to marry them, It's no skin off my back. -

We, in New zealand, have just passed a Civil Union Bill, giving same sex copules and de facto's the same rights and privileges married couples get. I don't like it, vividly campaigned against it, but it went through on Thursday. To me, Marriage is a sacred union between a man and woman, and should stay that way. Civil Union is effrectively gay marriage, without the titles. I have nothing agaisnt gay people, and in fact, so,e of my friends are gay. It's just the Civil Union bill that has me irked. There was another, more reasonable "Civil Relationships bill" that was same rights, and not actualyl marriange. I would have voted for that. But the guy who put it forward was a Christian, so his ideas were instantly branded as "homophobic." That's the way it is around here, you don't support it, you're a homophobic redneck. It just irks me to no end. btw, my friends in the gay community don't act like that. -
These are my splash images that I kept, ranging form the earliest to the latest. There are some missing, unfortunately. The first image for my New Myotaku, which reflected my new name, Shinji, without the surname Ikari. The logo was based on Otakuboards and TheOtaku designs, and the "Ikari" being scratched out was based on both WWE's "Get the F Out" promos, and WCW's Souled out logo in which they crossed out the nWo logo (the last time they placed the nWo logo on their logos) I doubt I'd do one of this size again, lol. The one that replaced it soon after, smaller, more sleek looking,. At the time the idea was to always have the "MyOtaku" in a grey bar down the bottom. Why it says "Otakuboards" on a MyO spalsh? I don't know. Again, I doubt i'd do one of this size again. Created after watching Apocalypse Now! for the first time, accompanying a Space Odyssee theme, which is now lost. And of course, used in the time leadign up to the launch of V7 OB. Fiery coolness. Done soon after figuring out a fire text effect. Looks like a "flame grilled Burger King" promotion, lol. GTA badassness. XD, The most recent theme to be thrown around, and the only one ot have a various form. Though the beige version of it was rather, bleak. Merry Christmas from the hood. I wanted to do an unconventional Christmas theme, you know? one without chestnuts roasting on an open fire, little jack frosts, reindeers with red noses, pine trees, and Santa Claus. What better than to hip-hop Christmas up, and give it GTA urban-style overtones? Quite poissibly a lot of other things, but, but.... NEXT! And the next one to feature on my MyOtaku...... Whooops! Did I just leak a preview?

I don't really see a problem with Otaku Lounge. It has it's moments, for sure, but the really neat thing about them, is the threads they are in, can be overpassed! If I'm not liking the direction to which a thread is going, I'll simply stop posting, if I'm clearly not getting my point across, I stop posting. If it's a really interesing and engaging debate, I'll stick around. As for content, as James pointed out, it's up to us as a membership to provide the discussion, and quality therefore lies in the memberships hands. There is no problem except that which you make.

Life of Brian was a good movie. Funyn as hell. I'm a Christian, and none of the religious motivated jokes and gags bothered me, it was all in good fun and wasn't really demeaning to Christians, except for those who come up with some weird and crazy beliefs
the crazy denomination skit helps this point along.
I like mostly anything Python, like Holy grail and the series (Flying Circus.) The only one I didn't really like was the Meaning of Life, for some reason.

Senator Jones tried explaining to his wife that this was a picture created by Paparrazo with a virtual computer game, to be used as a smear tactic, but she wouldn't have a bar of it. Needless to say, Jones moved back in with his mother.

The last episodes I saw over here were the ones where SG-1 was searching fro Atlantis. I didn't know there would be a spin off, lol. Stargate is a pretty cool series, one that I haven't watched for some time, yet, the current story is pretty intriguing.
I remember back in V3 before the avatar restriction we put in place people would have huge avatars, one that comes to mind would be Sephiroth's Sephiroth avatar which was about 100x500 pixels in size.
Wasn't the insanely huge avatar thingy mod-exculsive?

Palestine was Israel before the Roman invasion of 70 AD, Israel has been captured and run over many times before that, and always come back to it's spiritual home. Israel today, by being in it's home of old, is merely repeating history. I would like to see a Palestinian state. Perhaps one day, that will eventuate. However, with the unrelenting viloence of the Palestinian intifada and subsequent revenge attacks, I don't see it happening. "There is nothing new under the sun", how true.

This topic is over 3 years old now, lol. Photoshop 7 and CS have come out in the time since. :p

I like a local carol we have in New Zealand, called Te Haranui, it's very "angelic" when sung at Carols by Candlelight, and is more localised to New zealand and it's culture than most of the others, One line goes "Not on a snowy night," referencing the fact that Christmas is the middle of summer for us.

A'ight, here's my Christmas Wishlist, I'll probably be getting only 1 of these with my Christmas money, since I'm saving up for Parachute music festival. Which one? I've yet to prioritize them. :p Playstation 2 -Gran Turismo 4 (I've only ever bought the first one) -Ratchet & Clank: Up your Arsenal - Grand Theft Auto: Mexico City X-Box -Halo 2 -Fable I've yet to get an X-Box console yet....so...yeah -_- Amiga -Mc Donald's Land, I know it's just an ad gimmick for McD's, yet since I never completed it, I'd like that chance. -The Jetsons: robotopia Pretty average storybook-like game, yet, because I didn't finish it when i had it, I'd like a chance to, although, since the game is so obscure, I doubt I will.

I would say Exothermic, seen as the Hell of the Bible destroys souls, not keeps them for all eternity. Souls can die*. 2 Peter 3:10 also says that earthly elements will burn up with a feverent heat. There are also a number of other verses, particularly in revelation concerning hell actually burning, not freezing, lol. Thats why I reckon it's Exothermic. *Ezekiel 18:4, Matthew 10:28
