It's happened to me before, but I lose friends because I am Christian, and my friends, who were friends before I came into faith (not religion) think I'm going to be all holier-than-thou and shut them out. I'ts actually quite the opposite. If I'm to follow Jesus' example, that means loving people who are not of the faith, and doing what I can to show those people why I believe (if they want to hear it, of course) There is no room in my faith for shutting unbelievers out, that concept to me, is foreign. I know that some people of the faith do put on a holier-than-thou act, and, it's hypocritical of them when their own religion clearly teaches them to love unbelievers.

How does this look to you?

Here's the avatar to go with it.

I do not fear death, because death is not the end for me. Death does not worry me because it's such a small part of the process. I share basically the same views as Dan, so I'll keep this short, and sweet. :smooch:

Welcome to GTO. This RPG is a take on the popular Grand theft Auto series, and will, with moderator approval span over 3 simulntaneous RPG's representing the different cities, in each city there will be mob bosses and crooked cops that you can run errands for, you can even sign up as a mob boss! Or you can be a cop hot on the trail of the nastiest villains. The choice is up to you, in these cities, anything goes. A word about the cities... The cities all run at the same time for a specific reason, that you can travel to them from your current city. Say, for example, you are running things up pretty smoothly in Liberty City, so you decide to go and expand your empire into San Andreas or Vice City, you would then write your characters exit from the original city (or escape!) and write them into the next city. Extensive knowledge of the other cities is not needed, as this will make the game more realistic. (being the SanAndreas newbie, lol) Character bio is very important in this story, as it will dictate how your character runs throughout the story. These are the cities that you can choose to start, and then run amok in. Liberty City/ Otaku Lounge The worst place on Cyberspace. Liberty City is notorious for it's crooked cops and it's Mafia families, who control most of the assets in the city. Survival in this areas depends on how smoothly you can convicne the mafia or other gangs that you have got what it take to be a player in Liberty City, pitch your motives in the wrong way, and you could end up wearing cement shoes! Gangs who rule this turf: Mafia (to be named after it's best sign up, who will get to be the Don), Yardies, Columbians, Triads, Jacks, Nines, Hoods, Diablos Is inspired by: New york/ Manhattan/ New Jersy Vice City/ Adventure Arena: Surf sand and Murder! The hedonistic tropical paradise of Vice City can fool you, on the outside, tropical paradise, on the inside, a city filled with corruption and scandal, in this city, it's best to stick with a few close friends, there are a grand number of scamsters and gangsters willing to make shark bait out of you Gangs who rule this turf: Hatians, Cubans, Sharks, Vercetti Gang, Is inspired by: Miami SanAndreas/ Literature the Sin City! Corrupt cops wishing make a quick buck are everywhere in the city of love, and so are the gangs, don't be startled by the frequency of drive-bys and confrontations you will encoutner in SanAndreas, just try to dodge as many bullets as you can, get on side with and recruit gangs to assist you, and generalyl try to stay alive! Gangs who rule this turf: Orange Grove Gang (only confirmed gang) (unknown, make some up!) Is inspired by: San Francisco* *NOTE: I know SanAndreas has been revealed to be a state, but for the sake of this game, which already has 3 cities, it will remain a single city. Sign Up: In all these 3 cities, Sign up is imprtant, it helps the movers, players and shakers of the underworld determine if they can trust you, or if you are their enemy, remember, a good sign up can mean the difference of life and death in LC VC and SA Name: Age: Gang: (relative to the city you're in, or you could be a visiting gang member from another city) City: (where your character starts off) Biography: (how did you end up in the city you are in, and crusing with whcih gang you are now? make it as extensive as you want, more detail, the better) Weaponry: (Not too extensive please, don't start out with a rocket launcher and all the uzi's money can buy, work up to it!) Car: (The main car you ride in: detail your car, and any modfications it has been given, also, use fake names for cars, to keep it GTA-authentic.) I'll sign up later. See ya.

I saw the Day After Tomorrow the other day, and it's main starring attraction was the big budget special effects, the one dimensional "got to save my son from the ice age" plot seemed rushed, and thrown in at any old angle in order to give TDAT some backbone. I really enjoyed the special effects though, especially the
Tornadoes in L.A, and the Wolves on the container ship. Elemeno P Elemeno P's debut album, called Love and Disrespect blew me away, Fast Times in Tahoe begins like a slow pop song, but as the chorus kicks in, it becomes more rock-punkish. Evrey Day's a saturday is a really good song when you're in a party mood. Top 5 songs from Elemeno P Fast Times in Tahoe Every day's a Saturday Goodbye Verona Hip Hop Verona (single remix) Scribe Great Kiwi rapper, who's performances are top notch, Scribe is definately a respected artist who is shooting straight for the top of the NZ music charts. Sogns such as Theme fromt he Crusader, and the album title itself, The Crusader, are references to his (and mine!) home town of Christchurch which inspire and draw pride. Excellent style and vocals, Scribe is defiantely worth a look. Top 5 sogns from Scribe Theme from The Crusader Stand Up Not Many (if any) Dreaming Not Many/ the REMIX! Pink Floyd Need I say anything? Pink FLoyd is timeless, albums such as Dark Side of the Moon are put together very well, including the trademark tape effect experiments in Time and Money, where ticking clocks and clanging cash machines ring in an array of melody that's ahead of it's time. I first got my tastes for Floyd watchign an amateur TV station play a road trip from one end of our country to the other, playing Pink Floyd along the way, the trip lasted four hours! Writing OtakuBoards members doing stupid stuff.
TheShinje replied to MaxSonic's topic in Creative Works
The story could have benifitted form a better title. And perhaps a refining of the talking sections, the whole thing reads like a play script, with the characters: and what they say and the narrator in between, don't know if you were going for that style though. G/S/B, what is the harm in MaxSonic trying Dragon Warriors style? If done correctly it could be almost a satire of it, sure believes itself alright, I simply suggest a bit of refining. -
Art Tackling Photoshop for the first time...
TheShinje replied to cinnamon's topic in Creative Works
I think that you have used multiply in the layers for the picture Cinnamon, this is when you can colour on a layer and let the lines of the picture show through. It's available under the drop down menu "layer options" in the layers menu. Adora, I do believe oyu meant set the colouring layer to multiply, otherwise I'm doing it wrong, lol. Sciros had a very good ppoint about the light source, I myself am still rying to render my colourings to a light source, it can be a hard thing to tweak sometimes. Did you use the dodge and burn tools for the shading/highlighting? -
Writing Untitled Short Story (Looking for Constructive Critism!)
TheShinje replied to Flashlight's topic in Creative Works
Quite a nice, descriptive piece of writing that you've created, well done. The finer points of this story are the way you deal with a character suiicide, the wya it's described as such, and yet not directly told to the reader deserves credit. Some of the descriptions, such as the dove, and the pelting rain and hail were also very well worded and placed. There were a few little points I didn't like, such as the calling out to Christine being the main characters voice, I had laready felt by the descirption that this was the case, it was "niether an imagined voice or the winds" From the tone, you can tell that the main character is alone, therefore, it is his voice. I flet you didn't need to emphasise that point. Other than that, great work, It's also noteworthy to point out that those who they are running from are not physically in the story, they are like an unseen menace, that could be anything, leaving that up to readers minds is a strong point in thsi story, it worked well for Blair Witch, too. -
I haven't breakdanced before (save for the time when I got a little hyper on carbonated beverages, attempted the worm, and came out with something else) and I think that Breakdancers are incredibly talented, and skilled people, and the dances themselves are highly entertaining to watch. I can't even dream to do half the stuff performed in a break myself. I find that most people break to RnB and Hip-Hop because the style gels so well with that particular genre, Techno is also getting in there, but breaking to rock and metal, even country or classical? I just don't see it happening, lol.

You know you're easily amused when. . .
TheShinje replied to kenshinsbabe's topic in General Discussion
1) you create threads detailing creative ways people are easily amused. 2) you use unbelieveably light, have-to-highlight-to-read text for your posts. 3) you think Shinji is funny. ;) 4) you can make sense and reason out of religious and Iraq threads 5) there is a glitch on your favorite website, and you will not rest until it is dealt with 6) you think multiple smileys like this (:flaming: :flaming: :flaming: ) are the most effective form of communication. 7) you can watch an animated smiley's animation rotation 500 times, and still think it's a wickedly funny mini-movie I'm done. -
Oh, one last idea...okay, so you have their be an American Idol game, see, but the catch is...you don't sing! You just press button combinations! Oh, and so it'll be kid friendly and widen the market, we'll tone down the insults too. Oh, and you have to make your singer look good too with a variety of nice clothes for the guys and thongs for the girls!...oh, wait, they made that. I'm not kidding. There's no actual singing in the American Idol game and they tone down Simon's remarks (the only reason I ever watched the crappy show in the first place.)
Where would Americal Idol be without Simons remarks? I had an idea for the American Idol game, I didn't realise they had made one, but hey, they could probably take a leaf outta this one! American Idol: Unleashed (or some other crappy one line catch title) American Idol, the game, uses the lates Eye Toy and karaoke technology to put you right into the action, square off against 32 polygonated hopefulls to become the next American Idol. Juding will be performed by using the latest wave-length technology, which will compare your wave sound (your singing) to that of the original song, after this is done (takes 3 hours) the A.I enging will select various pre-set remarks from Randy, Paula and Simon. Juding will be harsh, but fair. Presentation will be a must also, as the Eye Toy technology will be coded to analyse how well presented you are, play this game in your pyjamas, and you'll never winn support! If you like, you can buy special accessories to make the Idol experience more authentic, such as the Simon's Coke Cup, for those who can't handle criticism. We at Idol Software Inc. will not be held responsible for water damage to your PS2, or for any "police brutality" that eventuates from the virtual bouncer that accompanies the cup.
Perhaps because it was the U.N that gave this land to them. This land, was in fact, Israels originally before the Romans disperesed and destroyed it in A.D 70. Israel, along with Palestine rightfully deserve a homeland each. I support the movement for a Palestinian state. but also acknowledge that such will not curb violence, To Hamas, this is a holy war against the apostate Israel, to Israel this is a holy war against the apostate Palestine. Hamas has vowed to destroy Israel, invoking the name of Allah to their cause. With that in place, there will not be peace, even though both religions promote peace, odd? I wish people would actually think before creating controversial threads.
I don't think this is fair.
The flapping of a single butterfly's wing today produces a tiny change in the state of the atmosphere. Over a period of time, what the atmosphere actually does diverges from what it would have done. So, in a month's time, a tornado that would have devastated the Indonesian coast doesn't happen. Or maybe one that wasn't going to happen, does. (Ian Stewart, Does God Play Dice? The Mathematics of Chaos, pg. 141)
Can the single flap of a butterflys wings cause a storm in China? Or set off a tornado in Texas? The theory is quite intriguing to me. It insists that the simple flap of a butterfly's wings can set off a chain of events that would have not occured if the butterfly hadn't been there ( not existed), It's a miniscule detail that, when added to the equation, mutates itself into something more.
....One day in 1961, he wanted to see a particular sequence again. To save time, he started in the middle of the sequence, instead of the beginning. He entered the number off his printout and left to let it run. When he came back an hour later, the sequence had evolved differently. Instead of the same pattern as before, it diverged from the pattern, ending up wildly different from the original. (See figure 1.) Eventually he figured out what happened. The computer stored the numbers to six decimal places in its memory. To save paper, he only had it print out three decimal places. In the original sequence, the number was .506127, and he had only typed the first three digits, .506. By all conventional ideas of the time, it should have worked. He should have gotten a sequence very close to the original sequence. A scientist considers himself lucky if he can get measurements with accuracy to three decimal places. Surely the fourth and fifth, impossible to measure using reasonable methods, can't have a huge effect on the outcome of the experiment. Lorenz proved this idea wrong.
So, in the experiment above, somethign so small as leaving a few decimal places out has a profound impact on the outcome of the sequence, this is the Butterfly Effect. Chaos theory, anyone? What are your views on it?
