The Simple Life and The Simple Life 2:Dumb Blondes
TheShinje replied to kenshinsbabe's topic in Noosphere
I've never quite grasped the resoning for this shows green light, quite frankly. Take two rich girls (Paris and Nicole) out of their pampered lives and let them live a regular "Joe bloggs lifestyle". Can they think of anything more pathetic, that making a show that revolves around two grown ladies moaning, (simply because, I believe, there is no Gucci speciality store in Altun.. or wherever the hell they are staying) I live the simple life, do I really need to watch rich people living it like some kind of club sport? -
ABA CAB B? I've never heard of it, lol. Aside from my not knowing the codeness, this poem was a real fun jab at the outraged politicians and the like thereof who would rather ban and restrict mere games rather than face the real issues. Full of humor, great stuff.

Writing There's Something About Gavynn [New Series]
TheShinje replied to Dragon Warrior's topic in Creative Works
Great stuff Gavynn, funny as hell as always it is. (even though hell is no laughing matter, since it is filled with fire and deathness and stuff, but, eh...) I cannot wait for next chapterness. :D I find that picture disturbing, very, disturing -
Shrek was witty, well written, and sharp. It was a real treat to watch. Shrek 2 looks equally as good. The premise of this movie isn't falling to far from the tree of the first, it's again going to be a movie based around acceptance,
Shrek now has to win over the support of the "in-laws". It all makes for some very hilarious scenarios, most noteably, the Prince Charming dilemma.
:p Antonio banderas as Puss In Boots,
the hitman
was a very nice addition.

Slasher movies are simple, enjyoable, blood-soaked fun. They almost seem to me to be satirical, both of Horroir itself and themselves. But of course, watching people die in the most gory unusual and downright nasty way is the best drawcard for a slasher flick, IMO. What I meant to say in the previous post of mine about the Blair Witch project, is that it does what it does well. The whole unseen villian can get pretty creepy, a tangeable witch would have made it less so for myself. Especially if that witch hat a pointy hat, a black cat, broomstick, all cliche's lol. Sorry about that last post, OB, was kind of in a wierd way, but I'm back to my normal self now ^_^
My reasons for liking these movies are simply that I've played almost all of the Resident Evil games and I feel that the movie followed them nicely and didn't disapoint Resident Evil fans.
Interesting, I am a hard core RE fan and I felt the movie did not even come close to that of the games series. It had zombies and and evil Umbrella corporation and that's it. The movie failed to re-create the magic of the game, so to speak. The monster at the end, a Tyrant? perhaps the Nemesis? no, it's a
common licker, Lickers are a common enemy in RE2 that don't compare with Tyrant, Nemesis or even the mutated Dr. Birkin.
My 3 favourite horror mives are as follows. 1) Blair Witch Project; This movie kicks ***, I didn't find it all too scary, it was just the idea of an unseen, terrifying menace that couldn't be stopped that kept me in suspense. If you don't know your enemy, how can you defeat it? Blair With

Cloricus, I find this "hell isn't fire and brimstone" thing quite interesting, elaborate, please? That wasn't meant to sound condescending, I'm genuinely curious. "Besides we live in the modern world were we understand how the body works and a place known as 'hell' cannot exist as a soul cannot 'feel' as that is something your nervous system does." So you have heard. But what if the nervous system is an outward manifestation of you inner soul? Perhaps it is the bodily reactions that having a soul brings. It's another solution, anyway.

So anyway, I'm watchng the trailers for upcoming movies today, when I came acroos one for this movie. The day after Tomorrow, and from what I can gather, it's an apocalyptic look at the side effects to global warming. So, being that I am an absolute fan of apocalyptic movies, i am really looking forward to the day, May 29th here, when it is released. Who else is looking forward to this movie? Who thinks it will be crap? The SFX look really good. they managed to capture compltere weather-orientated chaos, the SFX wow me in the same way that Twister did when it came out. Theya re gorgeous! In short, I think this movie is going to be kick ***, chaotic fun.

How Correct is Politically Correct?
TheShinje replied to ChibiHorsewoman's topic in General Discussion
Dirty Old Man- sexually focused chronologically gifted individual and Dead-Terminally inconvenienced
These are a joke, either that or the book is. either way, I'm not referring to the dead as "terminally inconvenienced" And who says all duirty old men are sexually dirty? perhaps some of them just need a bath! So, are rubbish collectors "Waste Disposal Officers?" Are Torrets patients, "expletively-orientated persons?" It never ends. Political correectness is a very good idea, that has been mutilated and spun out of control to the point that it's laughable. Soon, pets will be "domestic live-in aminmals" -
Personally, I couldn't care less wether the phrase was taken off the currrency.
Their new album "Underneath" is coming out in Tuesday April 20th and I can hardly wait to kill myself from the torment of listening to it.
You could always not torment yourself by listening to it. Simple, eh?

Exactly what is wrong with reading into a movie, Sublime? Reading into movies can be enjoyable, and it can provide some very interesting discussions that looking at the movie on a Superficial basis simply cannot provide.
Absolutely no offense to anyone, but this rates among the top ten of biggest loads of **** I have ever heard. When they made Alien, they were trying to scare people, not create a bunch of sexual.... stuff. I mean, whoever wrote this obviously has a talent for interpretation, but geez... he/she's making the movie sound like some pervert's dream.
Sure, it's meant to be a scary movie, but that doesn't mean that they didn't also put this imagery in there also. No one is suggesting that Alien was a closet porn film.
The part where it's talking about the layout of the alien craft... the inner design was meant to make it look bio-mechanicle, not... organic.
Again, the Bio-mechanical look can also encompass a sexually-suggestive design. Desn't mean that it aint bio mechanical though. Thi point also for the next quote.
I heard a commentary on the making of Alien, and the artist that designed the xenomorph ( H.R. Giger) always designs his creatures to look bio-mechanicle, therefore, the ship was some-what designed from Giger's work.[/qoute] Another point of interest. Deos he say outright that there isn't anything else in the imagery? The Warchowski's didn't exactly go off trumpeting abotu the religious symbols in Matrix either, but they're there.
The comments on the alien bursting from the egg and the 'membrane' etc, etc, were just... well, the best phrasing I can think of is 'out of line'. The alien life-cycle is just like that of an insect... it comes out of larva state and finds a living human host whom it later bursts forth from. It was based on bugs, not sexuality. Why do you think they call the xenomorphs 'Bugs' in various video games and articles? 'Bug' was the original name they were going to give the film!
But it does look like, I mean, Don't you think?
Again, no offense, but the guy who wrote this is just a little too imaginative.
None taken. I think you'll find the symbols are there though. Who cares if it takes a little imagination to see them? aren't movies (most) meant to stimulate your brain?

I have just watched a documentary on the Bermuda Triangle which has sparked my interests in the paranormal again, I want to know what your thoughts are on such things. I am especially fond of the Bermuda Triangle, it's such a fascinatiinng area of the world. Ships and planes have vanished, and there is still no real logical explanation as to why this happens. Theories range form the "sensible" gas pockets causing the water density to weaken and the ships to sink, to the far-fetched wormholes and secret governments experiments. What do you think happens in the triangle? And do you have any takes on other paranormal activity? if so, please share.

Good question. I don't really know anymore ^_^ I came here in v4, lured by theotaku's Absolute dragonball Z/GT which is an anime I don't watch anymore, plus, it's forum is dead. I guess I've just been hangin around movie and the lounge for the discussions on subjects that grab me now (obviously, that's movies, music, and general topics ~_^). Anime hardly does anymore, isn't it ironic? So, I'm kind of an off-beat OBer, in the sense that I'm not here for any particular purpose, and could easily be gone the next day.

The only thing I can think of is, the ability to change the white post background when changing your styles. Everything else I had, including the different sign/view guestbook links, has been covered.

The three worst movies for me are... 3: The Others. I hated this film, The main reason why I hated this movie was the acting. I felt nothing for Kidman's character the whole movie, she came off as a flat, one dimensiona character. come to think of it, I felt absolutely nothing for anythign in the movie. The fly buzzing around my coke cup was entertaining though. Oh, the twist was horrid, really,
the ghosts are the people of the living world and the living people are, well, vice versa.
I know what the movie is trying to do, tell us what life might be like on the other side, yet I felt the movie was flat, and unenjoyable. 2: Hulk I didn't like Hulk as much as I thoght I would, and in the end, thoiugh it to be a drawn out piece of crap. It seemed endless in it's drivel. I'm sure the Architect in Matrix was more entertaining! not to say there isn't some quality entertainment to have with such a long backstroy, it's just not a movie I am likely to want to watch again.
the mutated dogs were cool, especially the psycho Poodle!- Hulk taking on the military almost redeemed it.
The movie I hate the most is Jackass. What is funny about his asinine movie? nothing, no plot, just random skits of stupidity, no wonder they call it Jackass. I saw it at the movies when I didn't know what Jackass was, the poster looked good and I had a bit of money to blow. When I'm sitting in a theatre, the last thing I want to watch is something I could have taped with a handicam and mates stupid enought to risk life, limb and reputation for some 5 mintues of fame. While some skits were funny, others were downright disgusting, and compltetely moronic. Each to his own, I guess.

The chart is comprised of the best selling singles of that week/day. So if a rock band isn't making number 1, it's the record sales talking. At least that's how it works here. I don't give a crap about the charts anyway, I like music because I like it, not because it's number 1. Your thread title makes me think of pop, Hanson pop. not a good thing.
