1. A piece of comical genius. DW you've done it yet again. I was laughing from start to finish. Poor Shinstrap. They didn't like him too much did they? Well, I look forward to seeing Captain DW in the upcoming chapters, my guess is that you be the Jack Sparrow of this parody no? what else can be said about this Pulitzer prize winning epic... Savvy?
2. Gah, the red X of Doom V_V. This will sort that problem out, I hope ^_^
3. Here it is, the second Caption Contest! If you are unfamilliar with what the Caption Contest is, it's a thread in which a member posts a picture, and the other members have to come up with funny captions for the picture. The member who posted the picture chooses a winning caption and the person who posted the caption gets to post their picture. There's your first pic. I will choose a winner after a day or so.

The Oscars

I do believe the LOTR has a very good chance this year, but I said that last year and Chicago won. V_V; There are plenty of deserving movies and persona nominated in these categories. Johnny Depp is one of them because he just worked so well in Pirates of the Caribbean as Jack Sparrow. Keisha Castle-Hughes was brilliant in Whale rider, and I think that she is also very deserving of such accolades. As for best picture, I have only seen Master and Commander and Lord of the Rings from the nominees list. I fell Kiwi bias showing through when I root for LOTR, but who cannot be simply awe struck by it's scale? truly a deserving flick. Academy, please don't snub it again! Having said that, I've been pretty uninspired from the Academy's choices over the last few years. Compare it with the people's choice awards, or the MTV movie awards, and LOTR cleans up. eh, I don't see an Academy as being the be all and end all of cinemas critique thank God. Chicago sucked!
5. Java isn't a flash thing. It's an entirely different programming language. You need to install java applets so that the browswer of your choice can understand the Java code. You're thinking of shockwave player.
6. I don't think limiting the amount of OTC (patent medicines)drugs you can buy is going to deterr the manufacturers one bit. It's hapening over here too, sadly enough, you can't buy patent medicines without proving you're not going to make meth. But, i suggest they look closley at their new policies. Couldn't a drugn amnufacturer just go store to store and stock up quanitities that way? or get mates to drop in and grab it for them? This si the reason why I think patent medicine limitations are not going ot work, now or never. If I can think of that, I'm sure soemone whose livelyhood is the manufacture of Meth would have too. 8. I play drums on occasion, usually after Church services I can get a play on them. Recently, I've been invited to join the worship team, and they're going to tech me a few new things. I really like percussion instruments, especially the drums, so it'll be a treat!
9. If I were New Zealands Prime Minister, I would move to cut ties with the British Monarchy and end over 150 years of British sovereignty. I would move to establish our own congress and a New Zealand-born head of State would be democratically elected by the people of New Zealand. It makes absolutley no sense to have a head of state that is so distant from our people. I would move to have tertiary education publicly funded again, like it once was. I would move to regian our State owned Enterprises which were sold out to private organizations in the 1980's/1990's. I would bring back the traffic police if I could. That was a separate force that watched ove rour roads, and was more efficent that just having the odd speed camera. I would build my election campaign moost of all on cutting ties with the monarchy and becoming a separate state. I'm sure most New Zealanders would like the chance to take our own country into the future.
10. I wouldn't want to be anybody else, I enjoy my life as it is now. My Parents are kind and loving, I couldn't imagine having anyone esles parents, which is what I'd have if I were somebody else. I wouldn't have gone down the same path which, for me, is a path that God specifically chose for me to walk. I'm quite happy with who I have become, and that I have been made who I am out of the fires of pain and suffering (forged in the refiners fire, it's a hymn!). Such things can shape and mold you, like metal.
11. It's really cool DW, I'll check out your Jack Sparrow Sketch too. He looks the character, I too think it's a spittign image of Orlando's character Will Turner. It's shading has turned out really good. Funny, I don't remember the outfit, but still, 8/10 it's awesome
12. Thanks very much for you feedback. CrH - I will undobtedly cast you as a Vampire next production. So sorry to say that drunk dude wasn't you, he was, uh, completely random! I like you're advice DW, you've helped me out a bit there. I used some of you're jokes as a tribute, i guess you would have figured that out heh. So sorry that MIDGET! was cut from final production for lenght reasons :p Keeping your advice in mind, next production will be better that a....a... CAKE! It won't be a Moderator and Otaku sequel either, that's just a Shinji excuse for not building the Enema's boat.
13.
Originally posted by James Secondly, you're sitting there saying that illegal immigrants should be "choosing" where they are located while their claims are being assessed. I think most people would object to that. Nauru is being used as a processing point for illegal immigrants -- those who have their applications approved are obviously allowed into Australia. And those whose applications are denied are deported to their point of origin.
I didn't know that Nauru was a processing point for the Immigrants, I felt, that like Guantanamo, the Asylum seekers were being simply held there, at least that's what the Press article hinted at. I didn't meant hey should choose where they're held. There is still something wrong when the US can invade (whoops! perhaps it's better said, "go into") another country and steal people away when they're suspected of terrorism. Where does the US get it's right to do this? I'm not Anit - American by any turn of the book, but I remain skeptical of the Patriot act. I mean, shouldn't this course of action be left up to the Canadians in this example? He is their citizen after all. I can see how easy it is to come to some sort of conclusion that falls on one side, regardless of the facts. For this one, I think I'll remain neutral until I learn more.
14. Watch the movie with the Directors commentary selected. It' a real eye opener. ^_^ For example, one of the things they explained in the commentary was
Rei is Yuri Ikari, and this is why she has a bond with Gendo that no one else has, Gendo is seemingly distant from everyone except for Rei, and remember the tank? and how it was explained that All those Rei's were just empty shells with no soul. I believe that Rei Ayanami was Yuri Ikari. At least, that's what I gather.
-edit- forget this philosophy, i just read that
Yuri's soul inhabits EVA unit 01,
so unless they cloned her soul.... Death and rebirth was okay, a lot of it is taken from the last episodes as a recap. The best part about Death and rebirth is the end of Evangelion preview. I'm going to love that movie. Edit: loved the movie :toothy:
15.
Originally posted by Transtic Nerve Doesn't surpise me... and if you don't believe it, well.. open your eyes.... The US can take anyone into their custody without due process under the Patriot act. Anyone they feel could be or is a threat they can take without questioning, without a lawyer, without anything. It happened to this guy apparently, and I'm sure it's happened to others.
was wondering what the Patriot act was since i read the transcript from the State of the Union, it read like Bush was asking Congress to keep the act, as if they wanted to throw it out. It doesn't surprise me though, all those supposed terrorists out in Guantanamo Bay still haven't been given due legal process, and there are similar incidents happening in Australia too, where the Tampa asylum seekers have been kept on an island called Nauru without due legal process, something that was promised to them should they agree to go to Nauru. The war on Terror stinks of human rights abuses. It's not to say i oppose a war on terror, I'm just saying it could have been handled a lot better, how about giving these supposed terrorist the same rights we do? Innocent until proven guilty? What ever happened to that?
16. This is an animated feature I created in the same vein as dragon warriors featurettes, it's about as long too. ^_^ Moderator and Otaku: The short side of TheOtaku. The feature film tells the story of the S.S Otakuboard, captained by the fearless James, which encounters a terrible Foe in the shape of the infamous AE Board: That stands for Anime Enema. Be sure to watch the whole feature for the surprise ending. Enjoy, this took a long time to make. Comments and critique welcome. ^_^ Format: .zip The only way I could fit it anywhere was to archive it in a zip file. I hope that doesn't deter anyone from watch it. Click the link below to download. 17. I'm liking what I see here Adam, very nice. I've done one of the quizzes to test the saving results out, and it worked fine for me. Just one question. When will it become visible on my site? When the site officially launches? It doesn't seem to be appearing right now. I like the last part, where I can now customize my quizzes easier than with Quizilla. I haven't had the chance to try it out yet. I have a job interview soon, however, I shall return this afternoon to test it out and give you feedback in that regard. -Shinji.
18.
Originally posted by cloricus Block any addresses that send you people this sort of crap
Most spammers do not use legit e-mails. And I think it's been concluded that it's just a generic e-mail from poetry.com, and not a scam. I've done some pretty stupid things, but never anything that stood out as something which could ruin my life forever heh. My multiple personalities here on OB is one of them. well, as a recovering "name-a-holic," I'm proud to say, that since Nov 2002 I've kept the same account ^_^
19. The movie is not going to be released until 2004. So, you have got a very long time to wait. Official site To quench your thirst for movie plot, This is what I've learned so far... It will be directed by Tim Burton (Batman, Beetlejuice, Big fish) and tells the story of Sopngebob's journey into hell after dying in a car crash. When he finds new living people have invaded his Pineapple, Spongebob calls on the expert exorcist, a sea anemone called Bootlejuice, who is fond of making up tall stories and dressing like a bat to fight crime. spongebob makes new friends along the way, including a talking couch, and a red bicycle. Apparently the scene where Patrick questions his mortality is one of the greatest cinematic sequences ever.
this is a joke, byt the way.
Edit: The trailer is available, I don't think it lets on about the Burton connection though.
20. These days, the street is a tough place to be. Not because gang violence is rife, contrary. Here in 2045, no one dares walk the streets at night, not even the gangs who once ruled them. A mysterious race of creatures now prowls the nights, looking for human flesh to destroy. I've seen their bodies, torn apart as if they were a steak dinner... Things have never been worse, and I've been at knife point! My name is Kat Carson. I joined the Shadow warrior league when these mysterious creatures, the Shadows, killed my sister and my parents. As I walked up to the mysterious, towering gray building, my heart jumped. I didn't want to go in there, I had heard stories, rumors, that they kept a live Shadow. It scared me to think i might see one of these monsters face to face, however, I sucked up the courage, and walked straight in. A dim light lit a narrow corridor that wound, almost spirally, to a white door. Inside i went, hoping to find a receptionist, a cleaner, anything, I was lost! "Ah, you must be Kat". A voice from within the confines of the white door whispered. Hastily, I went in... I found a round table, with 12 people sitting around it, looking at me, studying me. They were the Shadow Warriors (later filled by applicants) and they were the mysterious hunters of the night. "welcome" One of the Shadow warriors said, as he walked up to me and shook my hand... I felt welcomed, yet, still uneasy about the whole situation. Driven by revenge, against the very creatures that had stolen my family, I signed up to join the exclusive league. Another Shadow Warrior raised his glass, and recited some kind of chant. I guess it was their omen for fighting Shadows, to help them remember why they fought in this bloody conflict... The warriors past shall be avenged, when we spill shadow blood on the way to right the wrong's of menace foe, To rid of shadow, one by one Then he and the others spoke of what had driven them to despise these Shadows, and how they came to be involved with The Leauge... as I listened tot heir tales, I was fascinated, i wasn't the onyl one who had been vurned by this menace, I wasn't the deepest affected either...... As this is my first really serious RPG, I have decided to limit the positions to 12 people. I makes it easier to keep a track of ^_^ I will place the accepted cast here when it is finalized. Sign up is as follows...... Name: Age: Sex: Bio: Weapons: (within reason, you're street kids ~_^) Reason for hunting Shadows: Past/Background: Picture: A picture depicting what your character looks like. It's just for the general idea, and, this RPG is unashamedly mirroring the successful Kill Adam RPG. My pic used is actually a picture from my series, rising Sun, everythign is correct, except for the hazel eyes and blue hair streaks. best sign ups get in! Example, mine. Name: Kat Carson. Age: 18 Sex:Female Bio: Blonde, blue streaks, about 6'5'' Hazel eyes. Weapons: two daggers, and a small pistol. Reason for hunting Shadows: When Kat, her sister and her parents were out stargazing one night, a Shadow snuck up and attacked them for no reason. The Shadow killed the parents had her sister and attacked Kat, seriously wounding her before she managed to knife the Shadow in the side. At that point she was the first successful Shadow attack survivor. She swore an oath to her dead family that she would exact revenge on these Shadows, whatever it took. Past/Background: Was a happy high school student until the Shadow Attack, lost interest in her science degree and dropped out after the attack. Went underground looking for contacts to the elusive Shadow warriors league as a way to exact her revenge on her arch nemesis. Trained for 3 years in combat in preparation for fighting Shadows, who are a skilled stealth and fighting race. Picture:
21. R00lz are fun, aren't they? ;) But seriosuly, I think that OtakuBoards should have the link to the Otakuboards information center at the top of each "lounge" say, for eaxample, if you wen't into Anime Lounge, then the Otakuboards Information center would be displayed, much in the same way that a sub forum is now displayed. Is this possible? Do you think it can work? I think, on one hand it will really drive the message home that the Information center must be read first before anything, on the other hand, I can see how having it appear on all forums all the time could get tedious for members. What do you think of this suggestion?
22. Works fine for me. I'm currently using Internet Exploer 5 on Windows ME OS, however, I more often use IE Explorer 6 on Winows XP Platform and it works just fine on that too.
23. I used to watch Captian Planet when I was younger, but the thing that really bugged me was the fact that the Villains was what you ere saying about the villains seemingly polluting the planet just to spite the planeteers. It just didn't make sense, why dump toxic waste for the hell of dumping toxic waste? We never got the episodes in which Gaia sends the Planeteers into fight pollution of the minds, however, I'd have to questiuon why the Planeteers would choose to get involved between Catholics and Protestants. The drug and gang angles seem really good though. Taking CP away from what was holding it back (and what, I guess, eventually killed it), the one sided "pollute for the hell of it" villains.
24. I always look forward to the next Daily Otaku, heh. Your Final Flash article was great, had me laughing for ages! You've inspired me to write a spin-off, called the "not so Daily Otaku" and if that doesn't upset you, I'm sure nothing will :p
25. Yep, 24 is a great show. Aside from it's "original" Idea of having an hour of real time for an hour of the show (there was a movie that already did that) 24 just floors you with it's intense moments, twisting plots, and conspiracies. You never know exatcly what's going to happen next and I like that. It's unpredictable storylines make it a winner for me. Season 1 would have ot be my favourite, as there was so much emotion created by
Nina's betrayal of CTU
I'm looking forward to season 3, as I have read up a little bit on the Salazar storyline. looks interesting.
