Originally posted by Shroom Oh yes, because every series that expands itself into the cartoon realm is a rip-off of the Matrix. Even if they got the idea from the Animatrix, is it fair to call it a rip-off? That's like saying the Matrix is a rip-off of Star Wars because Star Wars was a trilogy first. :p It just doesn't matter, if anything we should be happy that more film creators are seeing the advantages in expanding their series, and if it turns into a cartoon/anime we should be even more happy.
Yes the Matrix was a ripoff, Star wars was a trilogy first.
I just don't see what (logical) problem you have with it.
I have absolutely no problem with it, just chill out okay. I said it was probably going to be an okay series, you didn't quote that.
Originally posted by Manic You know, I'm getting really tired of the word "rip-off." It's getting to the point where two completely different series are being compared to one another. I mean, come on! You wanna used that kind of screwed-up logic? So can I... The Animatrix is a rip-off of Aladdin: The Animated Series. That was a series of cartoons that took place between Aladdin: The Return of Jafar and Aladdin and the King of Thieves. See how much sense that made? Aladdin, The Matrix, and Star Wars are nothing alike. Saying Clone Wars is a rip-off of Animatrix is... asinine.
o_O woah, relax, before you both explode. :drunk: Is it that big a deal? I decided to mix a bit of humor into an observation, ergo that observation was indeed the systematic anomaly of linking a series of movies in by a series of short animated films, concordingly this is something that I'd like to see more of, not less. Asisnine as it may have been, it was meant to be that way, I was merely taking an observation that, Shroom also made, that they might have got the idea off the Animatrix, and turned it into a sarcastic, humorous observation. Did you absolutely have to bite my head off for it? I agree with shroom however (yes, I AGREE) that we should be happy more filmmakers are decideing to do this. If i'm a fan of the animatrix, I am sure I'll like clone wars too. The Idea that they will explore more of Anakins turn to the dark side using some cool animation sequences is a neat idea. Not to mention some of the other realms of the Star wars universe can also be explored. The still shots I've seen of it looks realy good, I can't wait to see it.

    Clone Wars

Two words, Animatrix Ripoff. Let me justify that, a series of cartoons aimed at linking episode 2 and 3 together, sounds a bit like linking Matrix 1 and 2 to me. While I have not seen the series yet, and it is doubtful I'll see it for some time, and no doubt, it's probably an okay series, The whole thing just reminds me of the Animatrix project. Is the first one done by Squaresoft? just kidding.
  3. I just watched this movie today and I thought it was a cool flick, well, for the most part. It stars Nicholas Cage as Roy Waller a phobic con artist, who is on a potentially lucrative job, when his teenage daughter, Angela (Alison Lohman) shows up unexpectedly. It startsd out pretty good, Roy is obsessive compulsive, and he has a routine, which Angela disrupts. Nicholas Cage does play this role very well and he is believeable in the role which contriubutes to it's sucess. The way Roy is so meticulous about being clean and how
he spend two days cleaning his house
shows a light funny side while also not making fun, we laugh, but are still sympathetic to Roy, who can't help it since
his dealer, who gets him these drugs skips town, he gets them illegaly so he doesn't have to speak to a shrink. It's throught this dealing that Roy finds out about angela.
\ The heist scene is pretty good too, but after the major scene things go from good film, to crap film.
During the movie, you see Roy continue to go to the same checkout lady at the supermarket, even if the line is longer, as Angela poijnts out, turns out that this is in fact, "angela's" mother, who miscarried their child. Roy, being seperated after the first two months of pregnancy did not know this. Angela is not his daughter! This is what I gather from it as they are very distant so it seems at the end when he is a carpet salesman, woop! a big twist! It seems like a lame futile attempt to pull off a "Matrix Reloaded ending" Ruined the whole movie, well not the wole movie, Alison Lohman was exceptionally great in the supporting role, since she played a fourteen year old and she is actually 24. She does the part of the 14 year old Angela so well, it's easy to overlook the horribly crap ending and remember the films bes parts, being the entir movie up until the last 20 minutes.
Great movie, crap ending.
  4. Shinji's theory Expanded ^_^ I have something to address concerning the Matrix Revolutions. I don't believe anybody can sit through it once and comorehend everything, as it is very vast and complex, I myself am still trying to figure out how Smith
could download himself into Bain's brain, it's weird
My theory on smith is that
Smith represents fallen angels, looking at it religiously, he has rebelled against God, who by Shy's theory is the Architect, now, Agent Smith is not on side with the Oracle, I think he is moreso the personification of Satan religiously than the Oracle is, the reson is that they share some very common traits, both are greedy and want power, both want to be "like the most high" I'n Smith's case, The Architect, in satan's case, God. The end of Revolutions hints at a system perhaps, of reincarnation, I reckon Neo is as dead as a doornail, and that he is going back to the source, to be reincarnated in the Matrix, he will return, to be the world's "messiah," Considering this idea brings to another, "what if the war wasn't over?" Man and Machine could easily slip into another situation, and, like the one over B166-ER, it could inflame man machine relations again. Another Oracle would tell of the One, being Neo, and that she would prophecize his return again, as she did in the sunset scene this keeps everything in the Matrix universe Cyclical baaby! A huge death and rebirth cycle that becomes too far fetched to believe, however, it is one of many theories circling in my head after this movie. It's end was amazing, the susnet was pretty, and it felt surreal. And throuought the movie, especially in the Trainman Scene with the Indian family, To hear machines, talking about love, you get to feel sympathetic to the machines, you don't actually want them to be conquered and destroyed, the brilliance of the trainman scene in exploring this idea was incredible to say the least. Peace between man and machine was a far better ending than Neo just kicking ***. When I left the theatre, I left feeling really good and uplifted, not alot of movies can change my mood like that, the Matrix succeeds in mood changing very well ^_^
Matrix, phew, one hell of a movie series for sure! edit:\ I accidentally made this a new thread, must have pushed new instead of reply, however, it's merged now.
  5.
Originally posted by rttocs77 Yes, becuase we know all Christians are way too pure to leave out information right?
Of Course we are, we're dirty unholy sinners fallen short of the glory of God, that's really pure. :cross:
  6.
Originally posted by ChibiHorsewoman Hey, it's possible. There have been so many things omitted from the Bible. (ie Lilith and Judith)
How do you know for a fact that they actually were books from the Bible? I ask you to read the CARM website linked in my sig, it has some useful information on the so called "lost books" and you can read them there too. Usually, a book left out of the Bible, based on my experience with them, contradicts the gospel, therefore it is not gospel. Lilith = the name of a demon. and the name of a bible Chapter, o_O ???
That anything could be possible. Well, except for the possibility of aliens. That just seems a bit too far fetched even for me. Besides, if Christians can come over to Ireland and turn the goddess Brigid into the St.Brigid, then why can't Jesus get married? It is after all a sacred act.
Not all Christians turn pagan God's into Saints by the way.
16th century Roman artwork is not always an accurate and precise portrayal of the true last supper, given that it was created hundreds of years after Jesus' death and resurrection. If it were Mary Magdalene, then it doesn't really matter. She wasn't a hoar, and she wasn't Jesus' wife either. The reason I discredit this picture is that, From bilbical accounts, the only people present at the last supper were Jesus and the disciples, and I hold the Bible up as the true inspired living word of God.
  7.
I'm trying desperately to figure out what that little Indian girl was. She took credit for the sunrise after Neo defeated Smith. However, earlier in the movie, she was being smuggled into the matrix because she was a program with no purpose.

I think the answer to that is simply that she found a purpose, and that, I guess, is to control the Matrix weather systems, or the Matrix solar systems,
8.
Originally posted by Mitch The new actor that played The Oracle was lackluster in comparison to the other one. She just wasn't The Oracle..I don't know what else to say.
You can't beat the original. I enjoyed the final installment of the Matrix trilogy, it had all the action and dramas that I'd expect from the Matrix franchise,
the scene where the sentinels breach the docks of Zion was a CG masterpiece, millions of Sentinels, it was incredible how they did this scene, I saw the making of a while back, and they literally spent ages on this one scene, getting everything just right, and it pays off, the flow of sentinels and the resistance fighting it out was a real treat.
My expectations for Agent Smith's involvement in revolutions was spot on.
I thought that the agent Smith/Neo scenario was crucial to the story, and had to be integral to Revolutions, and it was, It was the ending of Everything, when Neo went to Machine city to negotiate the peace deal, it was a negotiation centered around Smith, and the fact that the machines had lost control of Him, even if the Sentinel-Face machine thing denied it. (can we get subtitles for this guy?) Neo becomes the sacrifice for humanity, buying the peace deal between man and machine, it is an allegories to Christianity if you think about it this way, Machines represent God, and Neo represents Jesus, Man has fallen short of God (they reject the program) and therefore Man needs Neo to buy the peace between man and Machine. It doesn't all fit in, as Neo wasn't sinless, and Machine is definitely not God, but it's a niche symbolic gesture to end the films. Neo, when he fell down at the end of the smith fight scene, fell down in cruciform, and completing this allegories is the Machine face saying, "it is done."
Another movie would be terrible, and i hope to high heaven that this does not happen, another animatrix, maybe, but not another movie. The Warchowski's did so well to wrap up everything that, another movie would almost be instantly b-grade material,a nd discredit the original Trilogy, like Star wars. Edit:/ I see that the matrix reloaded does not have Rage against the Machine on the end credits like the last 2. Figurative? because they no longer rage against a machine?
  9. Please critique my Stacy's Mom song parody. -----------/////------------------------------------------ Stacy's grandma's got it goin on Stacy's grandma's got it going on... If you play one you can have there personality unfold as the RP goes on. And, if anyone was wondering how we were going to end this, if it gets that far, we won't. will do a kinda to be continued, and maybe finish it later. who knows. ok, lets see what happens :smirk:
Actually, you can have a pretty good sign up for an agent, example, mine. Name: Agent Johnson Created: 12/20/2199 Specifics: Agent Johnson was created by the machines to hepl with many of the problem agents faced in the population boom and subsequent rejections following the creation of eden Matrix version 01, being a top of the line Agent model, Johnson began searching for those who had rejected the program, and began dismembering them, Johnson worked along side Smith and Jones, two other agents that are very obscure in his memory databanks. Weapon of choice: Johnson does not use weapons, he can dodge bullets and is an excellled martial arts programmed agent.
  11. That's quite interesting, I like you choice of colors, and the way you have created the background, it's a nice look. I also like the effective border and you choice of color for it matches the artwork itself. (by border, I mean the boxes top and bottom of the image, and the triangle part too) *steals it*
  12.
The nephew, that poor kid. I feel really sorry for him I don't want to spoil anything for Shinji Ikari, so I'll shut up.
Ah, the joys of [-spoiler] tags :p
So stupid... it's rated pg 13 while all the others were rated R... it's either produced or directored by different people too this time. All of my friends that have seen it thinks its way dumb. Don't waste the 6 dollars to see it, it's not worth it.
that actually makes me feel better about this movie, that hey could perhaps make a movie that is funny without being too overly vulgar and disgusting, I've seen the reailer sneek peaks, and from what I've seen it's good. I don't know about you, but i don't feel like seeing fountains of
"you-know-what"
again, ever.
  13. If what PT quoted in his post is the song in question, then I fail to see how it's a swipe against Islam. It's only his bad attempt at conforming to he pro war populous, stirring up the old September 11th attacks to get the blood boiling again, there are other avenues he could have gone down to do his attention seeking, however, it's within his freedom of speech rights to make a fool of himself. There is never a time when freedom of speech is taken too far, I hate it when people start talking anti Christian themes, but that doesn't mean i think they should be forced to stop. This world's people should be allowed their freedom to speak their mind, no matter how much I myself disagree.
  14. I have sene the first 2 movies, sadly, the third doesn't come out until the 11th of December over here. They are good movies, but can never measure up to the like sof Airplane and Hot Shots, arguably the spoof movie kings, however, with David Zucker directing this movie, the mastermind behind the Airplane Duology, I think it has some kind of hope, I really hope it surpasses the other two, I'm up for a good laugh come 11 December. I know, I know, most of you have seen it, so you probably know my expectations are either spot on, or hoplessly lost, let me dream, pass over them if they are hoplessly innacurate.
  15. It's all a mind control Conspiracy by James and Adam to keep you hooked on OB, there are subliminal messages in the board's script I tell ya! ahem. I actually have had 1 dream about Otakuboards, but it was about me surfing the net of my favourite places in general. When I got to Otakuboards my status under my username was "banned," Then, when I got to surfing OB the next day, it wouldn't take my username and password. That's enough to make your electrical impulses scream "It was not a dream!" turned out to be my e maiul verification (I had changed e mails, I'm a dummy.)

Posts here in Suggestions and feedback also don't count I think. Another reason for this is it is genrally not discussion material, and they (staff) don't want people posting banner requests, suggestions or the like simply for the post count.
  17. Just use the forgot password option, and it will give you your password via email, if that is still the same e mail address you used, if it's not, then I don't know what you can do. Otherwise, just stick with the account you've got now, and welcome to OB.
  18. jesus did do away with most of the laws in the Old testament, but those were ridiculous laws made up by the pharisees and teachers of the religious law. The fundamental laws have never changed. The ten commandments are still in full force today by most of the worlds professing Christian populous and things Jesus taught, such as love you enemies as you have been loved, are in the old testament too. God never changes yes, Jesus just allowed us to see God's intention more clearly, and to be the final sacrifice for sin and to break that power it had on us. No longer do we have to slaughter an animal when we do wrong, I'm sure the animals think it's a good deal too.
  19.
WARNING - this RPG contains spoilers about the Matrix reloaded, it possibly contains spoilers referring to Revolutions as well. If you do not want to know some pivotal points that happen in Reloaded, do not read any further. Neo had done it, despite the machines best efforts, their systematic anomaly broke their cycle of death and rebirth, and was now their worst nightmare. Neo had freed the minds of many people who, like Neo, possess that systematic anomaly, to be the one. The machines never stopped it, their logic failing, they could not foresee that their systematic anomaly would continue to function in the post - Neo Matrix. And with no one having he possible powers to take on the One, let alone thousands of "them", the machines were ready to face defeat. But then, agent Smith was brought up in their minds, and they remembered that Smith had once tried to download himself into Neo, and that Neo had got a part of Smith's coding, so the machines logic thought and pondered, until it realized that Smith also now possessed a part of Neo. Smith, a renegade program, had become the machines last hope for the salvation of the Matrix, but could he be convinced to take up the role of agent of the system again? Smith by all means was now a renegade program, a virus that the machines would have so loved to destroy only in the yesterday, but now, they needed him, and they needed to convince Smith that he needed the Matrix. -----////------- _ in his RPG, you choose to play as either, a person gifted with "the one's" powers, or as an Agent smith clone. I will not play the part of Neo or the original Agent Smith, but they are playable characters if anyone wants to play as them. The only difference between the Smith clones in he Burly brawl matrix reloaded scene are that theses Smith clones retain their personalities. sign up is as follows. 21. Transtic is right. Nearly 2 hours. It was a pretty thought provoking movie. One of those few movies I think that you still think about days after seeing it.
The monkeys were infected with RAGE! which leads me to believe that there wasn't an actual "disease" and that, it was rage, in it's purest form, driving everybody to insanity.
Gruesome, gory, bloddy, and I liked the Idea of the extremely fast moving zombie rather than your average run of the mill slow zoimbie, and I hope it isn't overdone by everyone else, as bullet time was witht the Matrix.
Originally posted by Molleta It's 28 Days Later, 28 Days is a Sandra Bullock film.
That was a horror movie! 22.
Originally posted by Kyo no Ryu "thread closed"
You can't just command a thread to be closed, you're not a moderator. It's a good suggestion, just not applicable for OB for the reasons James stated above. My opinion of having a chat room here is that, while it would be a good thing, the instances of it being abused are too numerous, unless of course, you had a registration process for it, and I've seen it done elsewhere, then, abusers could be banned. But then again, AIM is easy peasy to download, i suggest just downloading that to use, and it's free.
  23. My favorite scents would be anything minty, or freshly cut grass. I like the smell of freshly cut grass for some reason, don't ask me why. I could always put it down to reminding me of spring lol. I like pine trees and Xmas Lilllie's, only because they remind me of Christmas. I prefer Christmas Lillie's over any other flower scent, I'm not much of a flower smeller usually. V_V
  24. I really don't understand where the anti war, anti Bush protesters get the idea that America is in it for the oil, sure, they haven't found any weapons of mass destruction, but they have liberated the people from an iron fisted tyrant, and that's something that an oppressing force, when you think about it, simply would not do. If the U.S.A is an occupying terror force, then why are Iraqi's shooting guns in the air, and giving the American soldiers the high five, and cheering as their supposed "empire tanks of terror" roll into town? The answer is that they are happy to be liberated from such a brutal dictatorship such as Hussein's. The attacks on U.S convoys are not done by every single Iraqi lol. These are used as evidence by the Anti War protesters to support their claims that Iraqis are fighting off the oppressors. These are only splinter groups of the deposed regime fighting tot the death. If every Iraqi wanted to destroy the American occupation, it would be complete pandemonium over there, whereas, apart from the odd skirmish, it's not. That's my understanding of the situation over in Iraq anyway.
  25. I like your banners James, the mik sang photography works very well with them. The Kill Bill banners are stylish, especially the bullet one. My favourites would have to be the matrix ones however. Keep up the good work! One question; if we have off site image hosting, can we put a code in our signatures that will display the random images?
