I recently purchased the Neon Genesis Evangelion movie on DVD titled "Death and rebirth" And I thoguht it was the most amazing anime experience ever! It was very confusing, as are the few tapes I hired aout a while ago. It jumps forward in time, and then back in time, back in time some more. It seems to have no linear timeline and sub plots and paradoxes in the timeline are well written and timed. I had seen a few scenes in the series tape i hired out, which confused me although I get the idea that it is basically an Armageddon storyline. It is easy to get attached to the characters of NGE as they are so well written with their characteristics and personality. As you can tell by the name I chose for OB, I like Shinji. Shinji is very shy, and doesn't want to intrude on people or be a nuisance, when he isn't. Sometimes I feel like Shinji, and I can relate in some way, which makes the story even more interesting.
It was so sad too see Kaworu was the last angel. Shinji's best friend, and you couldn't help but feel sorry for the guy, he's been through so much!
If i could have changed something about EVA, i would have either developed a relationship over time beteeen Shinji and Asuka, or even Kaworu for a longer period of time (I would have introduced kaworu into the series a bit sooner) It would have been nice to have a relationship.friendship grow for Shinji. I was a bit dissapointed witht the hospital scene in the beginning of the "Rebirth" movie, It was quite funny though. Did Shinji really have to do that? if he did, then did we need to see? If you don't know what i'm talking about, please hire the tape, you'll see. I can't say it here, I don't think. - to quote: "I'm so f***d up" Anyway, death and rebirth was a fanytastic movie, full of some wiccked EVA action
Like the Eva unit 01 eating the Angel and breaking free fo the Armour restraints. and the scene where the final adversary to NERV was a fellow man and an army of men. I heard something about 666. It's got Christian themes! my favorite anime series has Christian themes!
I am now savign for the "End of evangelion DVD" Which, by the special preview on the DVD, looks very good.
Originally posted by Devidramon The chicken thing was pretty bad (unless they had someway of catching it later. They can't really do that to an animal legally, can they?) but it's hard to feel sorry for the old people or the handicapped people because it's not like anyone forced them to do it. The agreed to do it and were probably paid more than any of us make in two months. However it looks to us, the fact that they're there means it's not as horrid to them.
I think I did see a piece of nylon string tied around it's leg, thank God. It's quite funny, funnyin the sense it's so moronic you can't help but laugh at it. Mr Shake hands man. What's the deal with him! We bet on the skits here when we watch it. We actually thought the show was imported from japan, and that the "betting" applied in Japan. v_v
Originally posted by Solo Tremaine There's a fantastic euphoria when you break out of being a Newbie. I'd be tempted to do it again just for that :p
Yeah, i know what you mean Solo. I also had an even bigger sense of euphoria when i broke out of "Junior member" OK, it seems that most newbies don't mind the title as much as I thought they did. I think newbie is a cool title as well. so I like James' idea of shortening the times between the ranks. Just keep "no life" in there OK, I've been hoping to post enough to get that cool title for a while now. :p

PoisonTounge, I shre your disgusdt at that program. It's just plain stupid. Like betting how many heluim balloons will take a chicken off the ground and to it's most certain doom thousands of feet in the air. or pne in particular which is too perverted to repeat. Banzai gets a huge thumbs down from me. I wonder how many other otakuties hate this show, and who likes it? place your bets....Now!

I have a small idea for the rankings of members. It seems like the genral consensus of newbies is that the title "newbie" is somewhat derogatory, I've seen newbies asking the members here how much longer it's going to be until they pass the newbie stage, and some even put it in their sigs (I think there's one guy who's been here for 2 years, and he mentions in his sig after all this time he's still a newbie.) I don't see the problem myself (n00b11!!o_O;;11...;;**!, now that's derogatory lol). I had no problem with being a newbie, but if so many people hate the title, then I suggest we drop it. Have something like "OB Member" for the newbie/junior member/member stage. or you could have something like "OB member" for Everyone! But it depends on how much your title means to you i guess. What do you think of this idea?

I believe that it was proven at some point, than in fact, CD sales and the like INCREASED in the age of Napster. Correct me If I'm wrong. I have nothing against people downloading the mp3's to find band they like. Me First and the gimme Gimmes albums are rare here. So I downloaded my favorites until I can locate and buy the album. I'd even support the downloading of Mp3's and then giving the artist the money, instead of through RIAA (RIANZ here) which takes most of the money itself to line it's own greedy pockets. I think in that other thread I posted that lame RIAA poster which declares quite accurately that if you download mp3's you download communism. I have nothing against communism, so that didn't work RIAA. I buy the albums, so i don't see the great fuus If I want to listen to it a litttle bit earlier than i can afford it :p

I hate being alone. I hate it. All I do is go to a movie. alone. Hang out at the mall. Alone. I do See one of my only reliable friends quite often, I know him IRL and here @ OB, although he doesn't post often, and that keeps me borderline on sanity. It's good to have company. Lonliness sucks and it's aggravating!.
Mine always blocks me if I'm even 1 pixel over! So this is very wierd indeed. On Windows XP it has an automatic resize image for any picture you post as your "avatar" for the loigon screen. Maybe OB could put a simple image resizing hack on. If it is simple or not i really don't know...

My purpose is to live for God. That may not be the case for you, but it is for me. there is too much evidence for the existence of god for me to ignore it... That isn't a dumb pupose ^_^ it's actually very self rewarding I suggest a "try it before youu knock it" scenario. as for me. well, I've got alot of very difficult stuff to sort out with my creator. The very person who has kept me alive these past few years, without him I'd be DEAD. So please, at least give it a go. Conviction of the Holy Spirit isn't a burden, it's shown me a better way of life. Sorry if that's too harsh for you, but it's the truth.

I'm so sorry to hear that Christophe passed away Lady M. I'm here for you, even if you don't know me that well, He is safe with God now. I'm utterly speechless :( -
I don't see how the Evangelion series can better it's animation already, and Putting CGI Eva's and Angels in the series would make it look kinda cheesy. I wouldn't like it. The Animations fine, I'm still thinking about gettign the box set of DVD's

Bushwhacked by Jesus, an existential fender bender
Originally posted by PoisonTongue I feel that religion is one large crock of cow dung. I'm not biased against religion, of course, but the moment I see somebody claim they're acting on the side of God when they persecute someone, I lose my mind.
While they say the worship the God of the Bible, thoier very persecution defies their statement. They worship witht heir tounge, and do not practice what they preach, unfortunatley, this is the Imange people tend to get when they view Christianity, where in fact it's the exact opposite
Originally posted by PoisonTongue Oh, God wants me to kill you because you feel Abortion is okay. Oh, God wants me to kill you because you're gay. Oh, God wants me to kill you because you don't belong to my religion.
Once again, this is not the God I serve, I serve Jesus, who forgives everyone. If he wasn't so forgiving, we would have been smoldering ash a long time ago lol. The fact is, Jesus want us to love for the Abortionists, to love for Gay people ect... We're all sinners so no one can truly claim to be "Holier Than Thou" Hypocrisy itself is damned in the bible. So you can view it however you want, at least know it isn't as horrible as you make it out to be. To Change , if the words of the Bible were only the words of wandering shepherds 4000 years ago. Would it have predicted so many modern day events in 100% accuracy? It's something to think about. Please don't think I mean it in an insulting way. -
Bushwhacked by Jesus, an existential fender bender

1. Why live for God? To devote yourself to him I understand, but to live for him...I don't think that is even what he wants, after all, he sent his son to die for you... The best answer I can give to that one is he has done so much for me. I want to worship God who is almighty and all loving, despitewhat I really deserve, death and eternity in hell. He sent his son Jesus to die for us, so that our sins could be purified so we could worship him. Until then, the only person allowed to confront God spiritually was a priest with no sin, or an offering had been made in Atonement. Now, peoiple can Go straight to God, without all the proceedures described in books like Leviticus. 2. Why codify spirituality in Religion? Do you look at the words, or the message? Why? I'm the same as Justin, Christianity isn't a religion as far as I'm concerned it's a fellowship with God and a lifestyle. It's basically living for God. Religion as I see it, is do this and do that and it's all good. 3. Did you like the title of this thread (I thought it was kind of funny)? It was pretty funny. Although yeah, you were pretty much more or less bushwhacked by the girl. Hope that answers you're questions. -
It could have done with a bit more of the Hulk appearances. I understand that the movie was basically laying the groundwork for the sequel, and showing how Bannerman became the Hulk. But I think it could have done with some more "hulking up" The Final scene with
The military chasing the Hulk, and him smashing up their helicopters and tanks like they were mere cardboard,
I could have sworn I saw an Incredible hulk episode with that storyline, then again, that was ages ago. I enjoyed the movie for what it was worth. It wans't quite what i expected and I enjoyed X Men 2 better. I now await The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen to hit our theatres, form what I understand it's another Marvel comics - to- movie, but I have never heard of it before. EDIT: the cameo with Stan Leee and Lou Feringo I din't catch when I saw it on the copy that was *cough* leaked to the internet *cough*, but I did see it when i legitimately saw the movie in the theatres :p

I don't have a problem with gay people showing affection. That doesn't bother me at all. My faith is more than rules it's a fellowship with my creator, so that doesn't bother me either. No one has successfuly told me who I can or cannot love and they never will. I choose to love someone because I genuinely love them. So what? go and love who you want to love and leave me alone ok? I don't like that tile "gay-ness either, it sounds mildly insulting, as if it were a disease. Can someone change it?

I think the band Me First and the Gimme gimees are an awesome band! For those who don't know MFATGG, they punk up classic 70's and broadway tunes like Somewhere over the Rainbow, and cat Stebvens Wild World, which are my favorites,a swell as Rich Girl and Leaving on a Jetplane. I've listened to all albums so far, and Like the secon album "blow in the wind" the best, I really enjoy listening to punked up tunes from my parents hey day, and they even enjoy some tracks and the way they've been punked up. Anyone else like this wicked punk band? And what song would you really like to hear them do a punked up cover of?

I support gay marriage, in the sense that we should have the unremoveable right to choose for ourselves our lifestyle and who we are. The most important rule that jesus gave us was to "love one antoher as I have loved you" I am also bisexual. There is nothing wrong with that lol. It was after all the way i must have been created because i did not choose to be bi. My spiritual life would have been far easier for me if I weren't bi, So to TN, Lailaith and others, I know what you mean in all honesty. When it comes to munam (human - I'll leave that humiliating typo for soemthing to laugh at lol) rights, I also believe in allowing people to air different beliefs and choose different paths form that which I chose, it makes sense lol. well that was my 200 cents, hope you could understand it as it was difficult to write ~_^

The Sign brings back memories of primary school lol, that's where it was thrashed non stop when it came out heh. I havve a lot of respect for them, the melodies of songs such as The Sign are quite pleasing to the ear, I however wouldn't go rushing to buy a CD just for a few old memories. Has any rock/metal band done a cover of The Sign yet? there's heaps of punk metal covers out of old songs so it made me wonder.

Well, we sometimes have a spontaneus name changing month in which charles, our admin, changes names via the pm system, I think you've just missed out on the last one though, however, if you send a message to Charles detailing what you want your name to be, He might do it for you. Those with former username tags in there sigs, like mine have successfully had a name change, so yes, they do happen ;)
