1. OOC: *doesn't dare be inactive* I'm certainly not gonna risk a scare like THAT again O_O!!! Actually, to share something with you, I honestly thought I was going to be first off... then second... then third... *chuckles* who'd guess I'd still be here eight evictions later? *blinks* Has it been eight already? Whoa... Urm... YES! Bring on the next challenge!! I am prepared!! *hopes it's in a FF world she's familiar with* O_______o!!!
2. OOC: *was so nervous over this it's not funny* O_o Wow... I never thought I'd get so worried about it! *glomps Mei* ^____^;; *glomps Zidargh too* *then glomps Sage, Ginny and Desbreko for the heck of it* Ack... yes... that was so scary... O_o
3. Urm urm!! Lister and Duo!!! we don't need bios do we? If we do, I'll just edit ^__^ MWAHAHAHAHAHA!!!
4. *glances up at Ravenstorture's post and grins idiotically* Hear hear!! Amen to that! *oogles at there being no internet fees* Heh, yeah I would go just to meet everyone and go on grand adventures!! Mwahaha!
5. OOC:
Originally posted by GinnyLyn Good to see you back, BB, I was getting really worried about you there.
Good to know I was missed ^_^
Originally posted by GinnyLyn But see? BBaka brings up a good point--she had finals and didn't have enough time to post. And...well...well, I'm trying to go somewhere with this to show how I feel bad for BBaka too, but my words always come out wrong and I end up insulting someone.
Hey, don't feel bad for me Ginny ^_^ - I know I really should have told someone I wasn't going to be posting, but when it came to the cruch it was this or my grade. I'm just hoping Zidargh's prolonged absence prods things in my favour ^_^ -- It's gonna be kinda wierd if he beats me after not posting in two challenges in a row, even if he is on holiday O_o (not that he shouldn't beat me, I'm not saying that, just that it would be wierd.)
Originally posted by GinnyLyn I still say we should only have to vote between Zell and Zidane. No personal offense to either of you, but I thought the one with the least Espers got evicted instantly. :twitch:
*nods in perfect agreement* None taken - and I thought we were doing that anyway? O_o??
6. What it could be (I'm not sure though) is Episode 00 -- They sometimes do this with anime as a sort of backstory or a "making of" episode. Gunsmith Cats, Weiss Kreuz, and X all had an Episode 00, and they were all explaining the series in a little more depth. That's my guess, let me know what it is Solid!
7. OOC: Seriously, you guys have no idea how sorry I am... Yesterday was the end of my last exam in about three weeks of them. I was online, but nowhere near long enough to post. But I'm back now, so if I don't get voted off I'll be providing you guys with some competition! *grins* And, for the record, I was blown away by the post quality in this round ;)
8. This should be shot and then some... This has been a killer O_o ----- Once upon a time there was a kingdom. This kingdom was called Esperia and was a kingdom that prospered vibrantly under its royal family. In the streets people rejoiced at the mere mention of the monarchy, and everything was wonderful. The magic courts were the place of the most magnificence. Streamers flew from every beam across the ceiling, and the craft of magic weaving was celebrated almost as much as the monarchy. Times were good. It was very hard to imagine them being any more amazing than they were. One day, the princess of Esperia, a pretty young girl by the name of Esmeralda, told her parents she wanted to weave magic into the kingdom. Again, the land of Esperia rejoiced. Royalty was prepared to weave. Esmeralda began to weave, under the instruction of the most learned weavers in the kingdom. But, every weaver must have a partner. After all, how can you hold a woven magic net across a kingdom with only one pair of hands? And so, in accordance with the laws, a number of candidates were introduced to her. But none were any good to her. As though she were being wed ? she would know when the time came. This went on and on for many a year, until swiftly 5 years had passed, and she was five years older, five years more experienced, but still without another to hold up her side of her woven net. This made the pretty princess sad. Then, without warning, the happiness of Esperia was shattered. The evil kingdom to the west, the kingdom of Matar, became jealous of Esperia?s contentment, and wanted the happiness for itself. So it sent weavers of its own to Esperia, with the intent of burning the kingdom to the ground. Then it would no longer rejoice. The war which broke out as a result of this was horrific. Thousands died to protect their kingdom and their beloved royal family. Esmeralda dearly wanted to help her people, but, like I said, you can?t hold up a net with only one pair of hands. But savagely the war raged on. There was only one way to defeat the army?s onslaught was for one of the magic weavers to weave their net around Matar?s king. This task, by now, would most likely end in death for whoever managed it. None dared attempt it. Except brave little Esmeralda? In the dead of that night the princess sneaked out of the palace. Despite going against the wishes of her family, she was incensed. How could they see a war and not let her help? She would find a way. She had to? So she slipped through the darkened streets of Esperia. But she was not alone on this night, another youth, a boy by the name of Calum, spotted her sneaking about. He was curious. He recognised the robes of the court, and couldn?t imagine why Esmeralda would be sneaking about in the dead of night. So he followed her. Esmeralda remained completely oblivious to Calum?s presence, and continued in a straight line, seeking the palace of Matar. It was not, in all honesty, a hard palace to find. The clouds that circled above it shot off lightning and had huge thundered roars would have made even the highest weaver shudder. Esmeralda was afraid, but she also knew she was the only one who had made it this far. Calum, too, was afraid. He didn?t know why he?d followed her this far. And as he watched Esmeralda steel herself for the last part of the journey he suddenly realised something. Having followed her so far, and having watched her admirable resolve, he realised he was in love with the entrancing Esmeralda. Inside the castle was as bad as the outside. Lightning danced along the darkened corridors and was the only light to illuminate them. At the end of the most darkened part of the hall, was a huge wooden door. No guards were to be seen anywhere, but the king of Matar was naively confident that none from Esperia would make it this far. He could never have assumed that half a pair of weavers would make it. Taking a breath, Esmeralda threw open the door and jumped in, throwing her net at the gnarled and ugly king. Her life had been poured into this net, and, should it break? She would break too. Calum didn?t quite know what to do, but finally he broke his silence and pushed past the door. One end of her net was flailing wildly, and the evil king was trying to escape from under it. So, Calum grabbed it and held on for dear life. Esmeralda was amazed. Not only had someone come to help her, but somehow he was the weaving partner she had been looking for all these years. The only one who could hold down her net. Which he was doing quite impressively. The king was enraged. How dare two children try to fend off his entire attack? But he was trapped under the net, and could see no obvious way out. Quickly he pulled a small dagger from within his robes and stabbed the princess with it. But she made no sound. Her grip on the net never wavered, and eventually the evil king was defeated. In that instant the attacks on Esperia stopped and the violated kingdom was free to rebuild itself once more. But the princess... Calum cried then. Esmeralda was a wonderful person, she had sacrificed her life to do what was right. And more importantly, he loved her. So how could she possibly be dead? He took her dead body in his arms and wept. For a whole day he held her there and wept. And a second day passed in the same fashion. Then, on the third day, when he was sitting quietly beside her, no strength to cry anymore, a bright light visited him. A beautiful angel descended from heaven. ?You have been brave and strong,? the angel said. ?You have done things nobody has expected you to do, and you did not waver. You may have one wish.? Calum told the angel that Esmeralda should be brought back to life. ?You cannot have that wish,? said the angel gently. Why? ?She left her home knowing she wouldn?t be coming back. Besides,? the angel continued, glancing at Esmeralda quietly, ?She has already had her wish.? And, as Calum could now see, this wish had been to come back to life. Silently Calum wished for the strength to tell Esmeralda how much he cared for her. Immediately after the thought went through his head he announced his love for the princess. The news was received gratefully and together they made their way back to Esperia, hand in hand, to be received by the joyous celebrations of the people. Truly, they lived happily ever after...
9. My guess on why they're realeasing only 4 on the next DVD is that if they can stretch it onto another DVD they'll get more money off the fans -- the only series that didn't so this that I've seen so far was Weiss Kreuz (aka Knight Hunters) -- Evangelion and Gundam Wing were released like that too O_o less episodes on a disc = more discs to buy = more money from the consumers I don't think it has anything to do with the episode content - someone who's not seen the series isn't going to know if episode 14 is a "hint hint" episode, so it's not likely to sway anything ^_^ *fwaps them with a large rubber fish* Money grabbers!!
10. Sign me up for nightcrawler too ^_^ are we after movie-type nightcrawler or evo type?
11. Well... I don't claim to be any kind of scientist... But if you keep halving numbers like that you will never get below zero. This is simply because the only numbers you can half to gain a minus number are minus numbers themselves. 0.5 halved is 0.25 - that halved is 0.125 - that halved again is 0.0625... see where I'm going with this? No matter what you half, you will come up with another number (smaller, granted, but still being a positive number -- even if you half zero, you still get zero.) If you travelled at 400mph, you would cut your journey to an 1/8 of the travel time... 800mph would cut it to 1/16 - 1600mph would cut it to 1/32 etc etc etc So in that way the theory is flawed. But I heard that there's an area of space where time travels backwards or something... Theoretically anyway... so I figure it's possible, you just need someone far brainier than me to actually explain it ^_^;;

I belive in ghost, but some people say that I'm nuts, 'cos I belive in them.
I don't think it was because you believe in them, you just took everything someone said as a direct insult... Everyone is allowed to have differing views, just you kept pushing your "evidence" harder and harder at people... it was almost preaching - I for one stopped reading that thread after a while, because I was being preached at
Originally posted by vicky 2. I know, no one understands me.
Hey, nobody on OB knows my real name, what I'm really like, but that's because I don't really "know" them. Some of them have differing views of me... but I don't know if I'd be comfortable with them "knowing" me...
Originally posted by vicky 3. Some of the guys here keep say'in stuff about my storys. Like the spellin' and the plot! I sick of it! I get loads of that in school.
It's called critisism, I don't post any of my writing up here because I know I'd be critisised. I prefer to be critisised by someone I can discuss the critisism with face-to-face, which just can't be done on the boards. *shrugs* Nobody's going to smother you with praise if your work could be better. And trust me everyone gets the same treatment. The same goes for the Art and Design forum. You post stuff up there to be "critisised" -- at least that's how I understood it.
Originally posted by vicky 4.The moderater's on the DBZ part, close the tread for no reason. I saw one that said 'Man, do they ever give an age?' And this was how it was closed, no one had posted on the tread. 'nope.' That all that was put. I could have told the tread starter Goku's age.
Mods never close a thread "for no reason", and usually they're very good at explaining their reason, I've never seen this particular thread, but I'm sure, if nothing was said, it would be very obvious. It was a question that could be answered in one word (I assume) and that word was "nope". Threads are supposed to stimulate discussion... one word answers, aside from being spam, are not discussions There's no way you're being treated differently... everyone is treated the same, and if you're so bothered I wonder idly why you almost have a 200 post count...
13. The TCG has expansions, like you've got your basic deck, then there was the Jungle Deck which included more (different) Pokemon, I stopped playing round about there, but I've seen them in game shops, I think there Neo- something cards, and they released cards for gold and silver too, as far as I know. So yeah, more new creatures for Pokemon TCG Trainers ^____^;;
14. That's one thing I don't do in an RPG is let a player character die... I figure it's utterly pointless to destroy something someone spent hours making. I'm fairly new to it so I may be missing something, but as a GM I provoke a little miracle or something to help the players out. That is, if they wanna continue playing that character rather than already have a new one in mind.
15. "Uhh... sure..." conceeded Joe, as they stopped and switched seats before starting again. Joe didn't drive much, but he was capable. "But why dawn?" "What?" "Why do we have to be back by dawn?" Inhaling heavily on her cigarette, Xaphania sighed. "Do you believe?" "Believe what?" "That you're like me? That you're a vampire?" The question forced Joe to stop and think. Did he believe her? Normally he would have said no, that was the craziest thing he'd ever heard. But... But he'd nearly bitten a man. And he couldn't do anything to stop it. Still watching the road, he touched one of his canine teeth with a finger. Sharp... "Well?" prompted Xaphania, taking another drag from her cigarette, the light illuminatng her face huntingly. "Do you believe? Or are you still swimming in Egypt?" "Swimming?" "You know... Egypt, the Nile... denial... "De Nile"?" She sighed then, giving up all hope on the boy's sense of humour. "Look you're a vampire, whether you like it or not. And vampires have to get back to their coffins by dawn. Otherwise we get caught in the sunlight and **poof** - we all vanish into thin air. Just like that." She paused before pushing the point. "So that's why we've gotta be back by dawn. Y'goddit?" Joe nodded, choosing not to say anything. Xaphania sighed... and conversation lulled uncomfortably.
16.
Originally posted by K.K.C. Is their a game called ".Hack//sign" for PS2 and it has all the characters from the show in it?
Not to my knowledge, but that's because .hack//SIGN is a completely different part of the timeline... The TV Series deals speifically with Tsukasa's part of the story, the .hack games deal specifically with Kite's part so on and so on... Though it would be a cool idea ^__^
17. There's a lot of this in anime, I've noticed it too ^_^ You've got your generic, "Character hiding a dark past" "sickening happy character" "dumb but resourceful character" etc etc... These pop up all over the place ^_^ This thread will probably have people quoting a few names to you - I would but I can't think of any off the top of my head Except Jim (Outlaw Star) and Souichi (Ex-Driver) -- Both nerds of their prefered area but forces to be reckoned with ^__^;; (And they're both 12 to boot O_o) I think a lot of characters in anime are just "templates" of stereotypical characters ^_^
18. Well, until about a week ago I could answer this as a "non-player", but now I've managed to get hold of a copy ^_^ Yeah, I don't actually think it's released yet in Britain -- countries where it hasn't been released will have a heckuva hard time getting their grubby mitts on it (and renting... that's out of the question O_o) So yeah, that was my reason/excuse O_o!!
19.
Originally posted by Agatio I started a thread about these a while ago. But hey you never know, they might not close it.
Well it's not on the first page of the Otaku Lounge, or I wouldn't have posted this one... Has anyone actually heard of ShadowRun? Or have I just found a reasonably obscure RPG to start playing with? O_O?
20. I've been trying to get into these kinds of games for years now, I've recently discovered a game that I'm trying to start a campaign for, called ShadowRun, which looks very intriguing. I guess I'm just wondering what other members like to play (I know there's more out there than just Dungeons and Dragons ^_^;; ) and what makes pencil and paper RPGs so great in your opinion? And two more questions following from that: 1) How do you get people to stay in one place long enough to actually play? Short of locking them in my fridge I find very few ways to keep them all in the same place at the same time O_o!! 2) Can you play with just the GM and one player? Whatcha think? Can it be done? Heh, I'm done I think ^_^;;
21. Well... Like most others, I fall into a lot of the catergories -- but I feel a need to justify myself ^_^;; The Bookworm - I've been involved in voting for several book-awards and, until recently, the only place to find me was in a book. Dratted exams... no time to read anything but textbooks O_O! The Comedian - This is more among friends than family, but friends are the "family you choose for yourself" so... yeah... I'm always the one to get all the laughs, do all the funny/stupid stuff, and the one to twist an idea out of reasonable proportion... The "Brains" - So far... my family have been able to boast about my excellent grades... O_o I'm hoping this trend continues! The (bad) Artist - My curse... Desperately wanting to draw manga/anime... and being physically incapable... ~_~;; and don't get me started on non-cartoon drawing! That's even worse!! The Emotional One - I cry at ANYTHING - honest I do... and I get worked up really easily... angry/irritated so easily it's not funny But at the end of the day, just like everyone else, I am really just myself! ^_____^;; Six categories... I picked "comedian" though... It's the most true to life ^___^
22. Interesting... It kinda looks like some images put together, but your edges aren't sharp enough to make it a proper issue... I have a problem with that logo though... I suspect the gray area in it is to make it look like a flag or something yes? but it bugs me... to me it would look better if it wasn't there O_o but that could just be me ^_^ I've not seen much of your banner-work, so I'll give it a tentive 8.5/10
23. OOC: The participants in this roleplay are: Braidless Baka - Nathan Carraway/Sonada Ryuichi Bishie - Lain Dekin/Aizawa Kane Walnut - Nuna McFaris/Haskoylu Yuki erinzyger - Michela Geraro/Minamino Suzaku Geist - Dominic White/Tamura Miyuki G. Ryoko - Jolisa Smith/Tanaka Sayaka The recruitment thread is here: http://www.otakuboards.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=23499&pagenumber=1 But I warn that I doubt I'll be accepting anyone else into the rp... If you really want in, PM me ^_^ With your starting posts just introduce yourselves, don't move any further than the day you arrive. Your hosts pick you up from the airport and you get "settled" into your new home. My next post will deal with the beginning of the school day, and then more freedom will appear in regards to post quantity. Well, knock yourselves out ^______^!! IC: Subject: Kyouiku Exchange Attention student, As you know, you have been chosen to participate in an overseas exchange between Kyouiku High School and numerous sister schools throughout the globe. Places are limited, as you also know, and the departure date is drawing near. Teachers from all your schools have given me lists of information, including email addresses, from students interested in the exchange, and I am seeking confirmation of these lists. Please reply to this email indicating whether you wish to participate so host families can be informed and pairs can be made. I also ask that students write an introduction in English for their host, so interests and so on can be matched evenly. Include any details you deem necessary (allergies, likes and dislikes, gender and so on.) I look forward to hearing from all of you. Yours sincerely, Arisugawa Izumi (Kyouiku High - Headmistress) That was the email Nathan had received a few weeks ago, and now as he sat on the plane peering out of the tiny window at drifting clouds he realised he was looking forward to meeting his host, Ryuichi. They?d exchanged several emails since their headmistress had dished out the addresses. Several hours later, Nathan had got off the plane, and with a backpack over one shoulder he glanced about earnestly. Everyone looked so different? The airport seemed so busy. He?d prepped himself by telling himself to look for a family that looked typically Japanese. He?d seen a photo of the family he was looking for, but to him, the Japanese all looked the same. ?Oi!? yelled a voice suddenly, catching Nathan?s attention. ?Nathan!?? The meeting was? entertaining, when reflected on later, Nathan realised. Ryuichi?s family were wonderfully warm towards him, especially the younger sister, Hikaru, and while her English left something to be desired, it certainly wasn?t through a lack of trying. She kept calling him ?Na-chan?, which confused him at first until he figured that, on a page, his name would be pronounced ?Naa-than?. The familiarity of her calling him ?-chan? was also comforting. The parents were, although not willing to invade his personal ?bubble?, still very warm towards him, often looking to Ryuichi to translate for them. ?Don?t worry about them,? confided Ryuichi, grinning a little. ?They don?t know much English, but they?re really happy you?re here.? ?I appreciate it,? admitted Nathan honestly. It could have been a heck of a lot worse. ?So, do you miss them yet?? Jetlagged, but still willing to hang about for another hour or so before sleep, Nathan glanced up at Ryuichi?s question. ?What?? The car trip from the airport had only been half an hour, but it seemed like it had been forever. He?d been travelling for hours and, even though he hadn?t done anything per se, the trip had worn him out. How come when you don?t do anything it?s the most tiring thing you?ve ever done? ?Your parents?? Do you miss them yet?? With a slight smile, Nathan nodded. He?d spoken to them on the phone as soon as he?d set foot in the house. He?d nearly cried. He got homesick too easily, he decided. Ryuichi smiled slightly. ?You might want to get some sleep.? ?Hmm? Why?? ?Arisugawa-san has a full day planned for us tomorrow.? Ryuichi said this with a slight smirk. ?She said she doesn?t care if you?ve been travelling all night. You?re all young and energetic.? ?Bah!? ?That?s what most of us said,? confided Ryuichi. ?But she was decided.? Nathan paused, before putting another query to his host. ?Will I meet the other students tomorrow?? ?Yes, of course you will.? ?That?ll be fun.? Ryuichi did nothing but roll his eyes good-humouredly. ?Meeting people is always fun. Everyone wants to meet you.? Nathan was quietly glad of that fact. It was nice to know he was happily expected? ---- OOC (again): I'm also gonna ask that you explain any Japanese words/culture you've used during the course of your post... Like I shall do here ^___^ -chan -- Is a suffix added to the end of a name to indicate endearment We're not going to be perfect, as discovered in the recruitment thread for this same RP, but we're here to have fun! If we get things wrong, it's a learning curve ^___^
24. Heh, Jim's a cool character ^__^ - When I quote Japanese phrases from anime I'm told my Japanese dialect is like Jim's Japanese voice actor... Whereabouts in Japan is his dialect from, if anyone knows? Anyway! Mostly I think I'm like Duo from Gundam Wing... Really happy (even if it has to be forced sometimes) but practical and pretty much the comic relief of anything I do. Also Sorata from X, heh ^_^;; another practical joker, urrrrmmm... Jim *grins* from Outlaw Star - smart alec techogeek. The list just goes on and on and on and on.... O_o Geez... there's just so many characters I been labelled over the years - it's barely funny O_o
