I think it's mostly a "coolness" thing - I mean sure there's multiple subarus wandering around, but that's just a character model after all for a female heavy axe. just like tsukasa isn't special, it's just the character model for the male wavemaster. That's why BlackRose (from the games) and Mimiru (from the series) can look so similar. Because they're character models. So I'd go with Solid's second suggestion, that there's not really a reason for it - the character designers probably thought the characters looked too "normal" or "mundane" - after all they needed something to remind us we're in a video game - hence the extensive body paint (since Bear's pretty much lathered in the stuff O_o)

Anime Yaoi/shonen-ai: what's the attraction?
Braidless Baka replied to Utena_Tenjou's topic in Otaku Central
Originally posted by amibasuki not really. some people just think some guys go well together :p.
Heh, really? I've lived through the squeeing before now with a certain someone(s) if she/they read this thread they know who they are... ^____^ It went something like this: "NOOOO!!! YUUUUUUKKIIIII!!! That stupid [insert swearing referring to the female in question here]!!! MIIINE!!! MYYY YUUUUUKI!!! NOT YOURS!! MINE!!! *begins clawing at the screen in an attempt to break right through it to rescue her beloved*" Heh... yeah... O_o *laughs* I'm sure I can rest my case now your honour ^_^;; -
Anime Yaoi/shonen-ai: what's the attraction?
Originally posted by Ohkami I think it is gross and wrong. Lesbian couples and Gay couples just freak me out because they have to do it in gross, weird and disgusting ways.
I think you've been slammed enough for that (well maybe not enough... but enough that I don't have to repeat others) As for shounen/shoujou ai... I don't personally like it (I don't mind it - but I don't go actively seeking it out in a squeeing fangirl-esque way ^_^ - I'm not quite that brave!), I'll watch an anime or read a manga for the plot, nothing more or less. So if there's a couple in an anime that're gay (male or female) then that's all good - take Gravitation for example, that was shounen ai the whole way through, but the plot relied on it, and it was a wonderful anime for it. But I think people are missing out if they draw a line at same-sex couples. There's a lot of great animes that include shounen / shoujou ai, and a load of great stories like that. Like Gravitation, Yami no Matsuei (where it wasn't open shounen ai but even I couldn't fail to see the hints towards the end O_o), Card Captor Sakura was shoujou before it was dubbed apparently, likewise for Sailor Moon (so I gather), and in Fushigi Yuugi there was the character of Nuriko... So if you're saying "NO SHOUNEN AI!" you're missing out on a heck of a lot of good television! I think the "twisting the shows to get shounen ai fanfiction" idea really stems from fangirls not wanting any of the female characters getting their favourite guys ^_^;; *hides from the angered fangirls* They'd rather see their favourite guys paired off together than that annoying little "madame" getting "their" bishounen... Heh, that's my view anyway ^_^ -

(hence her love of long sleeves and full length trousers) Feline, green eyes, little kitty nose, has larger-than-normal canines, but you don't really notice them unless she wants you to. Has claws, but also has an absence of fingernails, the claws extending out of the tips of her fingers when she feels threatened or wants to scare something Mutant Power: As described above... she seems to be a cat/human hybrid... She also has the heightened senses and agility that goes with being a catperson - suffers from colourblindness as a result of *significant pause* being a catperson! Bio: Sonya has always been shunned because of her outward apperances. Born and raised (by herself - her parents had no tolerance for "les mutants") in France before wanting out of the country - unable to stand their closeminded views on what she was, she tried desperately to get somewhere else. Several plane journeys later she wound up in New York, aged 19, and much to her dismay her reception wasn't amazing there either. Mankind, she decided, all had poor judgement. Personality: Very wary of people, and has a "decent" grasp of English - not totally fluent but enough to get by. Is fairly curt with people, even once she gets to know them, rarely giving up anything about her own life but wanting to know everything about everyone else. But, as they say, curiosity killed the cat... The main idea would be to experiment, transparency and the other filters are really great, and, as DD said, internet tutorials are a godsend ^_^ It's like with anything else you do in life ^_^ Practise makes perfect! Just try things and see how they look. Then try lotsa things at the same time and see how they work. If they don't, just bin it and try again with something else ^____^;;

Anime Is Bandai/CC2 actually considering "The World?"
Braidless Baka replied to AzureWolf's topic in Otaku Central
Originally posted by Solid considering most of the users will be watchers of the anime it will "brake the illusion" of the magnificent world as shown in the anime... dont u think so?
Not really... I think most people, like you or I, would be sceptical about what can realistically done. We won't be disappointed much... Then (as with the numerous Final Fantasy games) every version after that will be refined until a game like the anime can be made... But they've gotta be REALLY wary about making it just a spin off... like all the "movie license" games that sucked big time... because then it would just crash and burn and then there would be no "refinements" O_O!! -
Joe blinked a few times as he comprehended what she'd just said. She was right... he was hungry. So hungry it hurt. But... did he really want to...? Before he knew what he was doing, he was tentively drawing closer to the half-conscious man. He opened his mouth, drawing nearer to his throat. Just a few inches more. The skin rippled as the man swallowed groggily. Then... suddenly... a tooth touched the warm, moist skin and Joe backed off as though he'd been stung. Xaphania glared slightly. So, so close... "What's wrong with you? Do you want to die or something?" "No... I, I just..." Joe refused to meet her gaze, feeling strangely embarassed at having refused to suck a man dry. "I can't kill another human being." "You're not a human being anymore are you?" She sighed quietly, recollecting herself. Joe sighed too, looking down at the damp ground. Then he looked up at the darkened sky with a slight wince. It was raining... How ironic... And why...? Blinking, Joe shook his head. He was still feeling light headed. He felt like he was going to throw up or something any second... "You okay...?" Xaphania asked slowly, idly slamming the man's head into the brick wall behind her as he groaned something inaudible. "Yeah I... I just..." Joe blinked a few more times before swooning and passing out to hit the damp pavement with a thud.

What the "heck" was going on here? Confusion was the purest understatement thathad ever been made. The blonde, a girl called Deborah, was nice enough. But that was the problem. What was supposed to happen now? He was like a virgin pondering the way to make love. "Uhh, listen... You're gonna have to go now..." Deborah blinked large blue eyes in surprise. "What d'you mean?" "I mean you're gonna have to go home... like right now." She huffed a little. "What's that supposed to mean? You were fine about this a few minutes ago!" "I'm a little clearer about it now... trust me, you want to go home. Right now." "Are you threatening me?!" "No, nonono." He sighed, not sure how to deal with the annoyed girl. "Just... I'm not interested anymore okay? It's for your own good..." "Really?! Well...!!!" words failed her as she turned and huffed off, stalking up the street. Joe didn't have to listen hard for Xaphania's disappointed snort. "That's not how you do it," she murmured. "You can still catch her. I'm sure her temper would cool if you sweet talked her a little." "I'm not sweet talking her..." "Oh, why? Spoilsport." Joe finally turned to face the vampire, who was leaning against the wall, seemingly hypnotised by the tendrils of smoke from her cigarette. "Will you just leave me alone? I don't need this crap about being a vampire or whatever..." He rammed his hands into his pockets and made to stalk off, before Xaphania clamped a hand onto his shoulder. "You're not going anywhere. Not yet at least..." OOC: And any of you who've read the Vampire Chronicles will see a Louis-alike emerging ^____^()

Not "cried" as such, but I used to read the "depressing" threads, and things that are said within them journey around with me for the rest of the day. Other's losses are things I take very seriously and even if I don't post in the thread (it feels wrong posting in them to me if you don't know someone) I still think of them all day. I suppose it's my way of showing support. Even if the thread-creators don't even know I'm doing it. So, no, I've not cried over any specific event, but I get strangely emotional (happy, sad, irritated) by goings on at OB...

think of it this way... something's really hurt or confused you... and there's this girl (or guy if you're the girl) who keeps trying to get close, to find out what's going on. But you're so mixed up in the head that you don't know if she's (or he's) trying to hurt you or heal you. Everyone else has always hurt you, or cared so little that it's hurt anyway. So the best idea is to stay away all together. Then you don't get hurt, or she doesn't, depending on how the situation works. Don't get close and there's no risks to either party. That's the way I look at it anyway ^_^

I don't think .hack//SIGN is "depressing" as such... because it doesn't depress me to watch it. It depresses the characters maybe, but doesn't that make it angst? The characters are angsting over problems which may, or may not, make them depressed. For a show to be depressing it must make you walk away in a foul mood, or about to break into tears. I find it more of a thoughtful show. I come away from it thinking "how would I react?" or "how could that come to pass?" or maybe "how could he DO that?" So, yeah... my opinion: Not depressing but thoughtful

Personally, I think Tsukasa is a very denfensive individual. He's not sure exactly what's going on, and there are certain things he doesn't understand. So he acts cold to those around him in an effort to, perhaps, keep them out of what's confusing and hurting him so much. When he's scared he refuses to turn to others for support, and he wants to be stronger because he fears so much
which is why, in my opinion, he welcomes his "Guardian" so willingly - because in a strange way it makes him stronger as a character (and a person)
I don't really think this makes him a bad person, just that he really needs to learn to deal with those inner demons O_o!

Anime Is Bandai/CC2 actually considering "The World?"
Braidless Baka replied to AzureWolf's topic in Otaku Central
I figure, if they were going to make it an online version, it wouldn't be .hack as we know it. You wouldn't be "in" the game as such, living, breathing it. But a 3D playable online game has already been considered for the PS2 in the form of FF11 (and, I understand, it will be released on the PC as well) - So, maybe they're considering a competetor for FF11? That would be kinda interesting, seeing as FF11 looks set to be a huge success, in Japan at least. -
Originally posted by wrist cutter I don't see why everyone is up in arms about this.
Mostly, I think it's because if you wanted to critisise a use of Japanese you should really have PMed the member concerned rather than posting it in a recruitment thread you had no intention of joining. And, however it was meant, it did sound a little almighty and derogatory (or from my end anyway, I don't know about anyone else's). Sorry for the misunderstanding ^_^ But, that aside, another announcement: I'm planning on getting this up and running either today or tomorrow. Check back within the next few days where I will post a link to the thread in the adventure arena ^____^ (Or just keep your eyes open, whichever works!)

OOC: Argh! Where is Domon?? *throws things at him wherever he may be* IC: Several vine-like branches were swaying round the pair, investigating, curious as to what they were. A vine slide delicately around Zell's ankle and then up his leg to his knee, exploring the man inquisitively. "Zell? What's going on?" Zell shot a glare over at Sephiroth and opened his mouth to speak. But the vine seemed to sense it, tighting suddenly with a barely audible wail and pulling away. With a hiss, Zell bent to investigate the cut. It wasn't deep, the kind you might get on a finger if you caught yourself with a vegetable knife. "Don't do anything sudden... I don't think it knows what we are yet..." This level of conscientiousness, although unusual for the blonde, was also sensible. There could be many more vines where these came from. And it stood to reason that if they could draw a little blood, they could draw a lot... "Do we want to wait and let them find out? I'm sure everyone else is at the top by now waiting for us." He paused before grumbling, "And laughing at us." A vine moved towards Sephiroth now, and exasperated, he plunged down on it with his sword, severing it cleanly. The consquences dawned on Zell as the air around them filled with a piercing wail, making him wince, and a vine lashed out at his face leaving a trail of blood across his cheek. Another tried to encompass his wrist, but he pulled away. And trust Sephiroth, doggedly hacking away at the angered tendrils making them screech louder with pain. "IDIOT! We've gotta go, Now!" Surprised at the blonde's anger, Sephiroth glanced towards him. "Wha...?" "NOW!" Zell barked, rushing up past him and grabbing at his wrist to jerk him along. Then, suddenly, Zell tripped, frantically trying to kick off the vine that had snared his ankle. Slowly it pulled him backwards, trying to pull him off the ground. He had hurt them, so they would hurt him... "Don't just stand there!! Do something!"
Originally posted by Failed_Attempts Why you have this in the Poetry, FanFiction and Literature section? I'm not a big shounen-ai fan but I think I'll have to go hunt it out O_o!

Kinetic: Shouldn't we do something?! We can't just leave him! Doom: What should we do, eh? Against an Agent?! They didn't want to leave Clash... But there was nothing they could realistically do. So they took his advice and ran, praying and praying that he'd be able to get himself out of the situation. Kinetic: C'mon! This isn't funny anymore, man! Pheonix: You see me laughing?! Kinetic: No, idiot but what do we do?! Suddenly, before Kinetic got a response to his question, they were fired upon again, this time by a regular SWAT team. Good, old fashioned bullets should be good for this one. He wasn't watching what anyone else was doing anymore. He hated this part. Everyone moved so fast, the silence seemed shattering. Quickly he wheeled towards their attackers, his automatic spitting out bullets like some kind of frenzied tennis-ball machine. Some hit home, some didn't. He wasn't exactly the world's best shot. Rat-a-tat-a-tat-a-tat After what seemed like an eternity, someone grabbed at his shoulder, pulling backwards slightly with a jerk. Doom: Hey! Quit it, they're wasted okay?! Kinetic blinked. Wasted? As in... gone? Pheonix: You don't do this very well do you? Dutifully, Kinetic pulled the empty cartridge out of the gun and reloaded it. Of course he didn't... He never would... The idea of, bending the rules, he would never be comfortable with that. Kinetic: Not really... but don't we have somewhere to be? Doom: Yeah, this way!

OOC: No problem Tigger ^_^ I hope everyone'll forgive me... I've just had a week of eams to contend with O_o! "B... But wait! Hey!" Joe watched, incensed, as she slammed the door shut behind her. What the heck...? Why him...? And... He growled to himself sharply. What good were questions going to do for him? She was lying... of course she was... This was some kind of sick twisted... thing...! Still grumbling to himself he stood, and stalked about the room. He was feeling faint and a little light headed... but she probably just clobbered him really hard. Three days? That just wasn't possible... It just wasn't... His gaze snapped up as the door opened again. "I didn't give you the bag to leave it on the floor. After three days you need a new change of clothes..." "What's that supposed to mean?!" She smiled slightly. "Whatever you want it to." She paused before continuing. "I'll be waiting in the car outside when you're done. You don't have to come with me... but those aren't love bites on your neck there." Subconsciously Joe put his hand to his neck, feeling the two roughened pimples there, toothmarks... No! It was some kind of insect bite... Big insect... But it wasn't... It had to be! Was it...?

Call me close-minded if you want, but I listen to Obession and hear English lyrics... They've gotta be right because I sing it a lot and they always fit perfectly... So... yeah... I'm done O_O! And... if I'm wrong (which is entirely likely ^_^) what the heck are they singing? It must be documented properly somewhere O_o!

it kinda looks like you've painted it with watercolours... you didn't colour it on the computer... did you? i like the fact that the lines aren't sharp, i think it gives it a slightly softer feel... anyways, I'm liking this a lot ^_^ I'm going with "quite good" ^____^
Originally posted by AzureWolf Also, the opening song, Obsession, is sung in a mix of english and japanese
Not meaning to ruffle any feathers, but I beg to differ... Obsession is sung all in English. Both the TV-Sized and Full-Sized versions. *gets it out to listen and make completely sure* Yup, all English ^__^ - It's just a little hard to pick out because the artists singing it are Japanese
Originally posted by doukeshi03 I believe that when you die, there's either gonna be a large black nothingness, no conciousness or anything and that scares the bejesus out of me. Then there's the other one. We are reincarnated, in another life. However I don't believe in all of this Karma whatever you do in this life is punished in the next...no. What you come back as is pure chance, but there's always some small part of you, your soul if you wish that goes with you...that effects who you are. It won't effect your actions completely, I mean you could be a murderer in one life and a nun in another. I'm just saying that there are going to be similarities.
*coughs* Well, as much as I'd love to debate the existance of God, I'm sure this thread was about the afterlife, so, if I repeat what anyone's said, or step on anyone's toes I apologise. I haven't actually read the whole thread O_o! Anyway! *pulls out Lalaith's soap box for herself* Onto the main point, I believe in reincarnation... I can only say this from some strange stuff that happened to me when I was little - at about 6 or 7 I promised my grandma that my grandad (who had recently died) was just waiting in "god's waiting room" to be born again as a baby... So, I wasn't making anything up really, I just felt that my grandad was going to be reborn... So I must believe reincarnation, if I was announcing such things as a child. Also, one afternoon my father and I were watching golf. Again, I was younger than 6... 4 maybe, and he decided to explain the rules to me. I told him I already knew the rules, and explained how they played the game 50 years ago... My father rang my uncle, who's a complete golf buff, and asked him if I was right... I was... but why would I make up stuff like that? And how did I get it right? I don't know if deeds in a past life affect what you "return" as. I can't imagine that I did anything amazing in past lives to be a human now. And if that was so, how come there are so many bad people around nowadays? That part doesn't work out, I know... But I still think we are all reborn. Also comes the fact that I'm too afraid to admit that life might just stop **POOF** like that... So... yeah... *pushes the soapbox under the table for someone else to use* ^__^ I'm done! By the way... I don't have a clue how to play golf anymore O_o!!!

Sephiroth prodded the "twig" gingerly with his sword before looking back at the blonde with a glare. "What?!" "THE TREE IS MOVING!!!" "What...?" "Look behind you!!" "What is this?
