Anime What Kind of player would you Be?
Braidless Baka replied to Heavyblade's topic in Otaku Central
I dunno, I figure I'd be a Wavemaster... Mostly because I don't usually have "strong" characters in anything I play. Like in D&D (what little I've played) I'm usually a highly intelligent theif. So, something intelligent and probably weak. But since my goal in the world would be socailising, not picking fights, I wouldn't need all that strength, I'd need intelligence to gossip hard ;) ^___^ -
Well, here ya go Logan, as requested ^_____^;; Name: Mortimer Toynbee X Name: Toad Mutant Ability: Leaping (jumping large distances) and Secretion (sticky stuff comes from his hands so he can climb up stuff etc.) Children (if any): None Good or bad: Bad

OOC: "some people wouldn't know that" yup, my point ^_^ - i didn't know that, but tried *cringes, knowing her post now sounds incredibly bad and misinformed*
Braidless, I TOLD where to find the items in the post, and the locations can also be found from the map I posted earlier. Why is this so hard?
A tad patronising there Sage...? *sniffles and shuffles off* I have been reprimanded...

Anime When should you stop watching anime?
Braidless Baka replied to AnimeAddict's topic in Otaku Central
Personally, I enjoy anime. I will watch it until it stops being enjoyable to me, which I can't see happening any time soon. I think that a lot of anime is just timeless. For example, it's like asking people who enjoy drawing if they're going to give a precise age for when they stop drawing. But they can't, because it's instictive, and they enjoy it. So why stop the things you enjoy, just because you get "too old" for it? Does a musician give up his instrument because he's "too old" to play it? Most of the time, no. They play it until they can't hold it to play it anymore -- Or they stop enjoying it... So in answer to the question, I'll give up anime when I don't enjoy it anymore, age will have nothing to do with it ^_____^ -
Okay people this is gonna start soon, I reckon 6 is a wonderfully round number to start playing with ^_^ We're still waiting to hear from: Zidargh Panny Chan Draagul Yu Yu Hakusho! But if they don't sign up within the next few days I'm going to start regardless. So keep an eye on the thread ^_^ And remember I'm still open for sign-ups! But it's gonna be one of those rare occasions where I don't accept them after I start. So don't wait around!! *grins* EDIT: Oh yeah *fwaps Kouby with the fish-on-a-stick* Don't make fun of me in my own thread :bawl: *chuckles*

OOC: Okay okay, *puts hands up in surrender* I admit I've not been posting, but I have NO IDEA what's going on in this challenge O_o I don't have the slightest clue about where to find these dead peppers, so I was waiting for someone else to start me off so I could just write a coherent-sounding post after that... But at this rate we're gonna lose through lack of posting, so meh! ~~~~~ IC: After Vivi had explained the best way he knew to find the Dead Peppers, Avalanche all filed out of the Ragnarok, and looked about. "So," said Zell curiously. "So, you're telling me that, in Chocobo Paradise, we have to race against some kid who's "at one with the chocobos?" "Uh-huh." Zell rolled his eyes. "What is this guy? Some kind of "chocobos must have rights" campaigner?" Vivi blinked. "Uhh... never mind. So, where is this guy?" "If Vivi says he's here, then we just have to start looking for him." said Cloud, his gaze scanning the area. "And if we beat him, he's gonna give us the peppers?" asked Zack, also looking around by now. Again Vivi nodded. "Well," announced Rinoa, picking a direction and walking in it. "Let's go look for him!"

Warily, Traumerin watched Hood rise again. "Y'know... You shouldn't be picking fights with newbies..." "You're no newbie." Quickly, Traumerin sprinted in, rapping Hood's weapon's hand across the knuckles, making her drop the weapon with a curse. "Okay, I'm going to lose... I know that. Let's stop this." He paused before smirking slightly. "Besides, I haven't had a chance to save since I got here." He watched as Hood fixed a wary gaze on him, perhaps suspicious as to why he didn't want to fight. Why fight?! He'd get trounced!! "Can I consider my lesson learned?" Hood frowned a little more before relaxing. "I suppose so..." "Are we still a party?" "I suppose that too." "Then shall we?" Traumerin made a grand gesture as he asked the question, so that Hood couldn't help but smirk at the boy's antics. "I suppose we shall..." "I suppose you should stop saying 'suppose' then huh?" Hood smirked a little more. "I suppose you're right." She paused then, glancing around at the small gathering. "And what're you all looking at?!"

"Joe?" With a start, Joe lifted his head off his desk, papers scattered all around him. Comically one was still stuck to his forehead as he prised it off, leaving a red mark where it had been. He glanced over at the door, where his father was leaning in slightly, frowning a little. "You studying again?" Joe nodded. "Sure I am... Big exams in a week..." "There is such a thing as trying too hard you know..." Gathering up a few of his scattered papers, Joe nodded. He was trying hard... of course he was. He had to pass these exams. He sighed, eventually meeting his father's gaze. "I'm fine, okay? Another half an hour, I swear." "You promise?" Joe nodded an affirmative, rubbing at the sleep-encrusted patch on his forehead idly. "I promise." He raised a hand to his heart as though to seal the promise further. His father paused, surveying him for a wary moment. Then, deciding that he was growing up just like his mother, changed the subject. Sauntering in and sitting on his son's bed he said, "Watcha make of this whole 'vampire' thing anyway?" Joe shrugged, observing the ploy to inturrupt his school-work. "I dunno. It's not really something I'm paying attention to." "Are you serious?! It's been all over the news!" Joe smiled a little at his father's mock outrage. "Yeah, I know." Joe shrugged. "I just don't really think it has anything to do with me. I'm not a vampire, I don't advertise what I think. Nobody's going to bother with it." Joe's father raised an eyebrow as Joe said that. "I'm sure they don't care who's side you're on when they suck you dry." Again, Joe shrugged, scratching at his head with the end of the pen in his hand. "I suppose not. But I can't really do a lot about that, can I? Even if I had an opinion, they wouldn't quiz me about it first." "Good point." There was a lengthy pause, before Joe said quietly, "Studying Dad." "Oh yeah, right. I'll just... umm... go then!" Joe laughed as his Dad made a huge show of being sad and dejected going to the door, before throwing a slipper after him. Chuckling, his father left, leaving him to his school-work - which continued for much longer than half-an-hour...

Rat Name: Nezumi Taitsu Age: 14 Type: Tunnel Rats Description: Asian in appearence, black hair and dark eyes, a hint of some deeper understanding in them Personality: Highly insightful for a Rat, but not without his own spark of humour. Can get defensive VERY easily. Mis: Is actually an empath who's powers were stunted somewhat, classing him as a rat, but if they had been recognised earlier he would have been leading a normal life. Note: I've actually arranged the empath thing with Sarsy offline, I don't suggest doing the same thing until you've run it by her first ^_^

As they disembarked from the ship, Zell looked about him. The place seemed so... busy! People were milling about everywhere, and they all seemed to have somewhere to go, something to be doing, famous people to hunt down. "Hey... Is it really okay to be just exploring? Everyone seems so busy..." "Yes... we do seem a little... touristy, don't we?" Zack rolled his eyes. "We've been told to go explore, I know that that's what I'm going to do." "Well, can I go with someone? I don't want to get lost..." Cloud nodded to himself. "She's right, we should stay together." But rather than Rinoa, the team captain shot a look at Zell. "We could lose anyone in this place." Zell paused for a moment. "Heeeeeeey!! Was that aimed at me?!" Cloud simply raised an eyebrow, and Zack started to snigger. Rinoa didn't do anything to intervene, but hide a small smile at the boy's antics. "Maybe," conceded Cloud after a few more lengthy seconds. It was pleasing to see the team react a little better amongst themselves, compared to when they first met. Zell seemed to be not so proud, Cloud had warmed up a little. Rinoa, while still being a gentle person, didn't worry quite so much. And Zack... well he simply enjoyed being Zack... It's kinda cool... Zell thought to himself. "Well," he continued aloud. "Where to now?" Peering at a signpost, Rinoa read off the arrows to her team. "Industrial District; Theatre District; or..." "Theatre!" yelled Zell. Obivously... he was stil estatic about his victory over Tantalus, and anything related to acting had his full attention. Cloud glanced about the rest of his team. "Any objections?" Rinoa and Zack shook their heads. "Exploring is exploring," admitted Zack. "If he really wants to go there then-" "I dooooooo!!" Zack laughed and shrugged. "Your call, captain." But, as Cloud turned to announce that it was fine... "What?! After him!!!" Yes... Zell had already set off at a sprint...
Originally posted by kiddy_phenil a filiment to be inserted in my wrist
Speaking of filiments, I know this isn't what you meant, but they have actually engineered a "chip" (I use the term loosely because I don't know that that's what it is) that they inserted in a man's wrist - and with that he could flex his wrist and a robotic wrist flexed too. Kinda strange hmm? So, with that in mind, behind the scenes we could be a lot further ahead than people imagine. Just some food for thought ^___^;; EDIT: Sorry, I just realised as I posted that I haven't made my point clear ^_^ - my point being that as far as VR goes, technology is advancing in manipulation of inanimate objects. If a robotic arm can be controlled with nerves and electrical pulses, why not graphics generated my a PC? - There, point made!

Anime What would you do with youself if "The World" were real?
Braidless Baka replied to Braidless Baka's topic in Otaku Central
Personally, I figure I would try to find out everything about "The World" - physical strength wouldn't matter to me - it would be mostly the socalising aspect of the game. So I'd probably pick a character who doesn't have a lot of strength, but high intelligence and defensive stats. I'd probably end up being a "master" of something in "The World" (like history, or game secrets), something that would make people look up to me and respect me ^_^;; -
Art Queen Asuka you have been Chibified ^^
Braidless Baka replied to The Majin's topic in Creative Works
*chuckles* Well, you like your chibis don't you? *has seen them floating around* If I had to give a crit, I'd say try to fluff the hair up a little... it's kinda "stringy" - but it's too adorable ^_____^;; I'm gonna give it... 8/10
Originally posted by treton_noir what exactly does this "chibi"-ness mean?
*laughs* "chibi" is "child" in Japanese, but a really young child, like about 5 downwards. So, if characters are drawn as "chibis" it means they're drawn to look little and unproportioned, like a child will have a large head, so do chibis. Hee, it's all quite sweet really ^_____^;; -
OOC: *phew* Hey everyone has a life outside of the boards (except me maybe >.>;; ) I didn't think you were the easy quitter Zidane ^_^ - don't be pessimistic! You're in this TO WIN! *chuckles* And have a good time of course! You have your reasons for being off-line, and your team will take that into account while voting - I have every faith in that. Glad your sounding a little happier! *hands Zee a bag of chips* Good ol' English chippy chips mind ;) None of this "fries" stuff ^_^ Chips/Fries/Crisps... confusing O_o!! Eeek...! I'll stop now! *slinks off to await the vote-casting*
-
OOC: *huggles Zidane* Gee, I'm sorry kiddo... that's all I can say... but, from what I can see you've been a wonderful captain and done your team proud - If you're really dropping out I hope to have the pleasure of roleplaying opposite you in the future

Personally, I don't mind 2 person rpgs - it's just an rpg with fewer participants than usual. I know I'm doing a PBPM (heh play by private message ^_^) one now, but I considered bringing it out onto the boards to begin with. And we have the Battle Arena, which more often than not, only consists of 2 people... if you stick by your first point then those spars should be PBEM too...

Okay, let's say "The World" is real... One of the main themes in .hack is that players can set their own goals in "The World" - just like in real life. Some people collect member addresses of pretty ladies, some people train to become craftsmen or tradesmen within "The World", maybe a goal is to simply socialise, or to become the strongest character out there. So, what ideas do people have? What would your goal be of "The World" if it were released tomorrow? And more importantly why?

You know, it's all very well people saying "save me a spot" but I'd prefer actual applications. From now on, if anyone wants a spot saved could they notify me by PM, or just post the application? I'm sensing a flop in this because nobody's actually "signing up"

Gaming Final Fantasy themes explored: SPOILERS INSIDE
Braidless Baka replied to GinnyLyn's topic in Noosphere
Originally posted by GinnyLyn Shin-in Japanese, means "god"
I always thought it meant "death" or "to die" (i don't remember if it's the verb or the noun...) Is it double meaning? *has now been provoked into thinking* My dictionary claims it to be "core" or "wick"... so, yeah... I get that O_o! And yeah... When I look at FFX's logo, I always see Yuna
as a Fayth fighting Sin...
I'm not sure if the game turns out that way, but that's what it says to me. I figure that would be profound in some ways. Also the comment on Tidus's head... That would also be profound considering
Sin (or 'Shin' heh - I'm not going to call him Sin now ^_^) is Tidus's dad. I don't know if Tidus ever becomes Sin, but that's the vibes I'm getting thus-far. *chuckles* Yuna vs. Tidus - there's a fight I'd pay to see!
Anyway *prays spoiler tags work* there's my two cents on the "logo" debate - at least concerning FFX. -
*chuckles* I wondered if anyone was going to make this ^_^ Happy B/Day Juu, even though I don't know you. (Reputation is a wonderful thing!) ;) have a great day (what's left of it!) Heh, Cavie rocks ^_^! *throws popcorn around*

At my school, we seem to have an different set of names. "Moshers" - stereotypicaly people who go to concerts and "mosh"... Almost gothic, but not quite. "Charvas" - Basically, lots of large gold jewllery (necklaces and earrings primarily) and make-up... the popular people I suppose... Those are the two big stereotypes. I mean we still have "Goths" and "Boffs" (a derivative of "boffin") but Moshers and Charvas are the two big ones. In my opinion, a label for a group doesn't matter. Like if I were to say to someone "s/he's one of the moshers" I don't mean it in a derogatory way, I just mean it as a fact, a way of describing which group s/he tends to hang out with. I'm a booky person, and so people would describe me as being part of the "library crew" - but I'm not bothered by the generalisation, it's just describing the group I hang with. But when it becomes a slagging match... I don't agree with that. Name calling's always a bad thing, no matter where you are...

How often do you visit? Pretty much everyday ^_^ - I find I'm itching to find out what's gone on in RPs I participate in, or if any of my friends have sent me PMs Whats the longest length of your visits? Normally, I stick about for 3 hours, give or take, but I'm always using IM at the same time. Whats been your longest stay? My longest stay... Umm... Well... I'm not exactly sure, but I know I "stalk" the boards a lot, reading but not posting, waiting to pounce on people who reply to me... I'm sure I spent a loooooong time doing that once... Most of the night O_o Which forums do you visit? Adventure Arena / Recruitment Forum - That's my main haunt. I also venture into the Banner Request forum sometimes if I'm feeling arty, but usually I stick to the RPGs or Lounge. Why do you continue to stay at Otakuboards? Because OB is an extremely warm community. This is my first message board that I've been involved with actively, and I love the fact that there are so many friendly people. I talk to my mum about them as though I knew them in real life. Sometimes she has to ask me if I do O_o - I also have no wish to go anywhere else, so why not stick around? ;)

OOC: ACK! Domon! *fwaps Domon with a fish-on-a-stick* What is with this kissing scene?! Do you WANT them to kiss?! *cackles in pure amusement* I will have nightmares for the rest of my life!! ^0^ If anyone actually wants to read the play to figure out what the heck I'm talking about, it's here: http://the-tech.mit.edu/Shakespeare/romeo_juliet/full.html OOC2:*cries* Sage! I was just about to post!! *is glad she checked and prances around, happy for victory* Well, I'll change it slightly. ^_^ ~~~~ IC: "WHAT DO YOU TWO THINK YOU'RE DOING?!" yelled the director, running after both of them and grabing them by their collars. "YOU STILL HAVE THE KISSING SCENE!!" "Get - off - me - NOW!" "Lemme gooooooo!!!" However, the director was deaf to their pleas and dumped them back in the middle of the stage. "You'll go to the end of this scene or I'll have Cid evict you both!!" Both looked to each other with a twinge of fear... They had no choice... And so the acting continued... "Thus with a kiss I die." No! No!! Pretend Damnnit! Pretend!! Don't kiss me!! Desperately, Zell's mind fished for ways out of this horrible predicament. Sephiroth was closing in, puckering up, making Zell feel queasy. He was going to kiss him?! What kind of sick, twisted... Finally Zell understood why Sephiroth was such a brilliant arch villain. "NO!" Zell blinked a few times, realising that the protesting squeak had been himself. "Uhh, my dear Romeo!" Desperately Zell looked to Sephiroth for help, but his "lover" was looking confused too, not quite sure where to go from there. Offstage Frair Lawrence and Balthasar were awaiting their respective cues. "Improvise," hissed Zell, sitting up. "I will be damnned if you're kissing me!" "The feeling's mutual. Believe me..." Zell stood up and, flicking out his dress, stalked around Sephiroth a few times. "Romeo, my father is an ***!" Zell declared finally, forcing a squeaky "feminine" voice. "He doesn't want us to be betrothed, and I don't intend to let him win!" Zell grinned a little as he got more comfortable in his "improvised" role of Juliet, being reminded vividly of SeeD briefings only a short while earlier. "My Love!" cried Zell enthusiastically. "We are at WAR!" Spehiroth's response to which was to blink broadly a few times."But I am poisoned my love..." "Stop being such a freaking attention seeker!" cried Zell, waving his arm enthusiastically. "Everyone knows it was water, so stop being a ham!" "A HAM?!" "Yes, my dear a ham. Now... You have a knife with you somewhere don't you? And Paris had a sword!" Zell pushed past the limp figure of the "dead" Paris, the actor of whom was desperately trying to stifle laughter. Triumphantly Zell pulled out a prop sword and waved it about. "I always knew Paris would come in handy!" They both paused for a moment. "What now my love?" Zell paused, thoughtful for a moment, before raising his sword dramatically and yelling, "ONWARD! To the house of Capulet! My father will pay for his insolence!!" With that, Zell proceeded to prance offstage happily, pleased at how well they had avoided the kissing scene. ~~~~ OOC: Heh, don't feel you have to follow this Domon, I just HAD to post it - I had it all written just as sage posted :(
-
Well, how in the world do you follow up some of these introductions? I'm not nearly as interesting ;) Let's see, I'm 17 years old, I attend high school in the UK, planning on university shortly. I've been told that I have, and take pride in, my own erratic sense of humour - and I love telling stories to a large group of people. I have been known to wait half an hour, until having everyone's attention, before telling about something that had happened to me that day. So I suppose that makes me eccentric too. I enjoy ANIME (as if you would never guess) and recently I've developed an addiction to Final Fantasy games. I enjoy reading in many of its shapes and forms, including game books, which were popular a long time ago, the general quality of which has decreased over the years. Joe Dever is my favourite game-book author in particular, and I strive to collect all the (out of print) Lone Wolf books! As far as writing goes, I enjoy writing almost anything. Factual writing would be tough for me, seeing as that's my weakest point. I still need to work out how to write a haiku too. Maybe get some practice in before one gets thrown at me out of the blue. Mostly I like writing fanfiction, but I'm also in the progress of scripting an anime project and writing two novels (yes... at the same time!) So? There?s my introduction. If I were to win Otaku Idol I would? umm? TAKE OVER THE WORLD!! Ahem? yes? And I would boast a lot too ^_^;;
