1. Woo! Another North-Eastern-er! *grins* Sorry, back to topic. Well... Hmm... I've never been asked that before... I guess I'd be some kind of cat... One that's just hit maybe 3 years old... Because I'm kinda playful, but I can be independent when it suits me. And I get worried by anything and everything, but I like to be seen taking point (like there's likely to be a "leader" cat if more than one lives together). I'm too adventurous for my own good (I liked climbing trees when I was little O_O) and I like to come and go as I please (like a cat with a cat-flap) ^_^ *shrugs* Besides all that, I'm as inquisitive as my own cat... so that's a plus ^_^
2.
Originally posted by Cyko Now he is constantly talking **** about me to Jacob, and of course since Jacob is a good friend he relays it to me.
Well, if I were Jacob I wouldn't be snitching out John to you, and making the case for other arguements. My policy with stuff like that is "if it wasn't said to my face, it wasn't said", but then I tend to have a naive view of the world ^_^. But it avoids arguements that way, and if it does get bad enough it'll be said to my face one day. Then I can deal with it :demon:
Originally posted by Lalaith Ril The way I read the thread is: "My friends are saying they like stuff that they don't so they can do more stuff with me. I don't want this, I like my friends for who they are. Diversity is what makes this world go round. How can I tell them this?"
And I'm inclined to agree with Lalaith there too. There's nothing bad in coming to the boards for help, and it's nice that Key feels comfortable enough to do that. And Key, if telling your friend doesn't work, just let it be. Try and get her to like what she's trying to fit in with, or offer her a new branch of it that she might find interesting. You never know, your friend might just be trying something new and that's why they're so hard to sway.
3.
Originally posted by Harry I was talking about Terrorism friend.
So? In Britain we worry because the US may seem like to big of a target to go for, so the brits are going to be the next in line. *shrugs* And last I heard, nuclear war was the big terrorism thing, or maybe I'm worng, but my comment can work for either situation...
4. *puts foot on the floor, whistling nervously* I must be wierd... I actually sit with my foot under my butt... not just my thigh... I only sit on my foot when I'm thoughtful though... hmm... That's kinda weird to say out loud O_O! Urgh... I'm sitting on it again... How in the heck....? *sighs*
5. *wonders idly why harry even bothered to edit the post to take out the bit about barbaric europeans* You're the one who started a thread about canabalism buddy... Shows what you think of most days... *shivers at the thought* Anyway, back to the issue at hand... I think Liberals are right personally. Warmongering isn't going to help anything. and besides... isn't it "innocent until proven guilty"? There's no proof against the east, which is what the whole war thing is about in my opinion... There's no proof, so we're going to force our hand. Not a nice attitude to take if there really are nuclear weapons running around is it?
Originally posted by Harry the threat of unchecked biological or nuclear devestation waits carefully in the shadows to strike at the very heart of Americans everywhere.
And I believe you're very niave if you think it's only america that's going to suffer if there's nuclear war. There is a world off the coast of the good ol' US of A... You'd do well to remember that before rushing off on a barbarian europe or igloo-ed canadians speech... *goes off to do a tribal dance... or something else obviously barbaric* [/sarcasm] Pfft, yeah right ¬_¬
6. I think, if they made a new series, Jim would end up being kidnapped at some point. In fact I'm amazed he didn't in the original series, most 12-year-old geniuses end up being kidnapped sometime in their careers. And I doubt we'd see character death, but near-death certainly. Kinda like Gene when Mel saved him.
7.
Originally posted by anime_gurl My mom has to do some interview thingy for a bible study class she's in. She has to ask people who don't go to church: 1.) What thoughts or words come to mind when someone says, "Church" 2.) Give two reasons why you don't go to church 3.) What qualities do you think a church needs to be a "good" church?
Well... lesse... 1) Faith & unity 2) A scary story which I shall tell in a minute 2) Preaching - I don't mean that in a bad way, just someone telling me what to believe isn't worth a sunday morning in my opinion, it's right for many people, just not me 3) Good contact with people who worship there, and a good support group for people who need a little bit more than faith to get them through something Okay, the scary story. Now, I don't usually go to church, but I slept at a friend's one night and she was going to church early the next morning, so rather than go home I just went to church with her. So, with the fact I never go to church in mind, I was sitting there listening to this guy talk, and he started talking about industry. Now, I was thinking, "what's this got to do with anything?" he was talking about how god made the atom and industry was god's work and stuff... all about highways and nuclear power and stuff. which may well be god's work to many people, but I was sitting there thinking "wow... industry was made by god. Uhh... good for god" O_O I was a little afraid by this point... And to top it all off, as I was leaving the reverend shook my hand and said "it was nice to have seen you again" - now I have never seen this man before or since... So... I was a little afraid. I believe in recarnation, but this was pushing it a little O_o So, yeah, churches kinda freak me out ^_^ that answers question two i think
8. Heehee, that's cool! But maybe you need to make it do something else? Maybe like a message left behind as the digits drop away again, or something else in it... I dunno... I like the whole effect though, very matrix-y and authentic ^_^
9. I really love this... The lines are a lot softer than the actual show, lotsa pointy bits in the show. It kinda looks childish and/or cute. Maybe like Tsukasa sat down and sketched his own portrait. I suppose innocence is the word I'm looking for. Nice job though ^_^
10. OOC: I hope he figures out it's still here... I'm not sure what we're supposed to be doing for classes at any rate O_o Fli poked his turkey burger curiously. Fli: Y'know... I'm sure this thing is made out of rubber... Kinga proceeded to completely ignore him and carry on devouring her pie and chips. Fli sighed in defeat. There was no way he was going to get her attention away from her food. Unless... In an act of daring and cunning, he took one of the chips off her plate and ate it. Kinga: *gobsmacked* Watcha doin' dat for?! Fli: *shrugs* I was hungry... And you were pretty... uhh... absorbed, by the idea of eating yourself silly. *taking another one and absently waving it around, with almost no intention of eating it* Watcha think the whole point of this is? *pauses* I mean, is it really just a school out in the middle of China, or is it here for a reason? Kinga: *watches Fli in a comical manner, a chip half-poking out of the side of her mouth* Uhh... me not knowin' dat... I not thinkin' mesa care much... Charlie: *smiles quietly to himself and continues eating, declining to answer the question* Fli: *shrugs in defeat and puts the chip back on Kinga's plate thoughtfully* No, I guess I just think too much...
11. If it's followed quickly by a "pardon me" or even a nervous chuckle, I don't mind. As long as I know they're embarassed about it or it's an accident, I don't care. But, like Lady M pointed out, I just can't stand boys that have the famous "belching contests" or "farting contests". I know guys that say "Come here I wanna tell you something" and then let rip. It's just plain disgusting... I actually get physically ill if I hear people having a burping contest... Eeeeeew *shivers*
12. You know, I think things like that (listening in on the phone, or reading his email) could just get Lalaith into worse trouble than he's already in, unfortunately :(. I have an over-protective father too, but he works abroad, so no worries there ^_^ But I know from experience that if you try to go against what a parent has said "it's law" (or something similar). And my life would not be worth living if I were to do any of the things suggested here (even if I were in a position to need to). My best advice is to log out of EVERYTHING before you come offline, and if your parents know passwords, change them and don't write them down anywhere. Maybe implore to your mum to talk to your father? I'm not sure what your parental situation is at home, but I can always rely on my mum to talk some sense into my dad. Anyway, if nothing else, just don't do anything bad that he can find, yeah? Just don't worry about it, if he wants to read it, let him. If he can see you're a trustworthy kid, he'll calm down eventually, or get bored... That's what my dad's like anyway. He'll have something else to do, rather than checking your internet usage for two or three hours a night. Hope your situation improves ^_^
13.
Originally posted by treton_noir just how much responsibilty can you put on them if they are misinformed about the details of the performance? they arent psychic.
Yeah, I totally agree with that, but I'm sure James said the band had used fireworks before. Surely, if they've used them on numerous occasions you're going to say to them "No, you can't use them here. It's too dangerous." And someone would have seen them bringing them in wouldn't they? Either that or the club just turned a blind eye, which was plain wrong anyway.
14. Hey, I have two, Auto Focus Global Garden Actually I'd be grateful if anyone could tell what's supposed to happen in them, since I only have them in japanese and I can't read them >_<
15. Okay, first off, sorry if this is in the wrong forum... I don't think it is, but I'll say that first Anyway! Here's my dilemma, I know you can buy the japanese soundtrack for BGC, but at the end of the credits on the english version it says something akin to "soundtrack available from genom records" Does anyone know if an english-version soundtrack was ever released? Or is it refering to the japanese-language version? Since, in my humble opinion, I think some of the songs were better in the English version. "Bye bye my crisis" being a good example. Any thoughts on which soundtrack was better? And was the English version released? Those are my two questions ^_^
16.
Originally posted by Semjaza Azazel I've not seen anything about the band itself blaming the club, all I've seen is everyone blaming the band (including the club owners) and mourning trying to find about out their kids that are missing.
Apparently, in the news (English news), they're saying each side is trying to blame the other. I think that's kinda childish, it was an accident, one that could have been avoided, yes. But an accident none the less.
Originally posted by Na'dou it's partly on the fault of the people as well because they knew what could've happened, but they go to the farthest lengths to get their entertainment....If you ask me, they should've asked they not to use the fire works, it just doesn't make sense to me...
Yeah, it can't have been all the band's fault. The club owners must've seen the fireworks coming in, and questioned it. So I don't think the whole blame has to go on the band. If it nothing had gone wrong it would've made them look brilliant. although the chances of it going right were almost zip...
17. You say you can't start conversations hmm? Well my problem is the reverse, believe it or not there are people around who have a curse of starting them so often that nobody pays attention anymore. I can't even be thoughtful properly, since people think I'm depressed (and I did go through a depressed streak lately, so all the more worry). So, my advice is to not worry about it. There is always someone who thinks like you do, and if there's not then you could always convert someone. ^_^ Yeah, so, just don't worry about it, and don't change for anyone. Be yourself, and if people can't accept that then they either aren't worth the trouble or they will learn in time.
18. Stereotypes hmm? Well... I was in America recently and since I'm British everyone thought I was really prim and proper. Ha! Anything but, and I mean everyone expected me to be really educated and everything and I'm as immature or whatever as the next person. So, there's a strange stereotype for ya. Oh yeah, and "apparently" I liked tea... That myth just ain't true...
19. heh, I agree with most of us, don't change it ^_^ even if it pronounces wrongly, it's always spelt right, which is what matters on the internet! ^_^ So, don't change it! It would confuse me too much when one day I couldn't find it *cries at the thought* I would be LOST!
20. The being, as it now appeared to be only one creature they were fighting, left Rein and pounced on Rion. Suddenly, Rein lunged forward, her hands a sea of fireworks in the darkness, and grabbed onto the beast hard, it's skin feeling tough and rubbery to the touch. With a squeal it lashed back, taking them all off their feet. But Rion was alight with anger. He had lost all awareness of what was happening, and was obsessed with only the thought of destroying the shadow. He had picked himself up and was continuing to slash with his knife. It would do no good. Rein could see that. And Rion's ice abilities couldn't be seen to help in the short-term. Rein: Schisse! Just get down! With a yell she let off heat. So much heat her hands burned. And so did the shadow. Everything dimmed out around her as she concentrated on only one thing. Destruction. She loved destruction. She loved to see these things burn. She knew it was wrong, to like destruction. But it was a fact. And she didn't care. And this destruction was justified, it was to protect those she loved. With a squeal of pain the shadow lurched away into the night, having not expected such immense resistance. That's not what its master had promised. But it would come back. Watching it leave, Rein swooned a little, collapsing sideways onto a tree beside her, feeling its rough bark against burnt and numb fingertips. She watched as the thing reeled in the sky, wondering whether it was to run away, or swing back round to finish them off. Such an event would certainly be the death of her... And Shadows aren't easily disgarded except by greater darkness...
21. OOC: Okay... I'm with Joe... *cracks knuckles* - Oh yeah, and don't ask about witchy woman... If anyone has any ideas, go for it O_o I was stuck for what to write IC: Lost, as usual, Fli trod up the coridoor in a bit of a daze. That had just been the wierdest thing to ever happen to him. He, quiet, shy Fli had just taken part in, what was in his eyes, a great adventure. And he, as part of a group, had succeeded. With this thought in mind he continued walking. Every door looked the same to him, until he realised there was a name engraved into the grain of the wood. He stopped by a door and traced the name with a finger. Then, with a yelp he jumped back, as the door was opened savagely and a sour face peered out. ???: Who're you?! Fli: *surprised and taken aback* I'm lost... The face peered out curiously, a swollen eye regarding him suspiciously. She looked more like a witch than a student, but Fli was sure he was supposed to go down this way... ???: Y'name's Lost hmmm? Fli: *stuttering* N-n-no, my name's Flight... ???: You sure? Fli: *nods* As I can possibly be... ???: Positive? Fli watched in something akin to utter confusion as the woman then nodded as though a question had been answered and slammed the door hard, making him wince as the sound echoed up the coridoor. Then a voice came to him through the door. ???: Greenies are further down Flight, fuuuuuurther down... Terrified, Fli obediently went further down the coridoor, until he found a door with his name on it. He wiped fresh sawdust from the door thoughtfully before opening it and going in.
22. With a brief nod, Rein acknowledged Bremma's help. Enough people had died tonight, Rion didn't need to be another. Rein held out her hands into the shadow, and was surprised to see it almost flinch back from her firey touch. Her fingertips brushed something solid. Bremma: Hey, what is it? Rein: I don't know. Be on your guard... Rein stepped forward this time, no longer blindly, but cautiously. Rion had fallen quiet. She feared for his safety. Suddenly, with an impact that winded her, she was thrown from the path. A shrill scream accompanied her landing, as she grabbed onto the shadow that had impacted her so suddenly. She struggled to sit, aware of the darkness around her, closing in on her. Rein: *desperately* Bremma! It's solid! You can hurt it! With a grunt she pushed herself to her feet, intent on frying the shadow that dared to knock her down...
23.
Originally posted by Tidus_Auroch ok first of all ffx had one scene that was stupid and funny which beat out all of kingdom hearts funny and that os the laughing scene it was not funny ha ha it was funny stupid
*shrugs* Yeah, sure it had the laughing scene, but I don't think that was supposed to be "comedy" it was supposed to be stupid, and you were supposed to laugh at how wierd that situation was. It was amusing, and a lovely scene between the two characters, illustrating how awkward they were with each other at that point in the game, but it really isn't the same as comedic. But "first of all ffx had one scene" it's only one scene as opposed to many in KH. Besides, KH was marketed as comedy, FFX was marketed for it's storyline, which is an ultimately stronger part of the game ^_^ Oh and BTW, thanks CWB ^_^ now I feel all warm inside! ;) :p
24. I think you're taking an extremely shallow approach to this... It's a delicate issue. I'll echo what's already been said when I say there just aren't enough jobs to go round anywhere. Where I live there's LOADS of unemployment, even people with good qualifications can have problems finding work...
There's actually a lot. Meat packing like I said before.
Woo, obviously that section of the economy is in SO MUCH demand O_o Yes, let's do that, everyone to the meat packing factories!! ¬_¬ And... labour intensive? Okay, these are relatively low-paid jobs, am I right? (If not, why does nobody have them already?) So, hypothetically, these people who are going to get "labourious" jobs, (who aren't living anywhere and can't afford a mortgage btw...)they're gonna be able to feed and clothe themselves out of this wage are they? You're going to have to shelter these people before anything else... and the (any) government just can't afford to do that. I mean these people have to look presentable for work right? And they need enough food for all this manual labour that you're suggesting they do. And then, when people in whatever country you're from, complain that these jobs that THEY could have are being given to the homeless, what will your gorvenment say to that? *thinks for a moment* Oh yeah! They'll say "Well, actually you can all have these jobs, seeing as how you're all paying tax and all", and then the cycle starts all over again.
The program will be payed by half of the welfare budget.
Really? Got nothing else that it needs to be spent on do you? Very prosperous... And besides, if these jobs were freely available, wouldn't people already have them? (I'm not just talking about the homeless here, I'm talking about people in general) I'm sure living in the streets isn't what people want. Don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to get at you as an individual, I'm just a little annoyed at how you try to give such chaste and callus answers to a very sensitive topic. My rant has now ended ^_^
25. I dunno what I'd do. If I liked what I saw I guess I'd stick with it, but it would take the surprise outta EVERYTHING wouldn't it? Take a surprise party... it's not a surprise if you know about it. That would make the rest of your life boring... And if I didn't like it, I'd fight it. I'd run from it, because I believe I control my fate, not the other way around. To quote from Minority Report - "Everybody Runs..."
