OOC: Yeah Ginny, I am familiar with FFX ^_^ I completed it not long ago, so I pretty much know what's going on in Spira. ~~~~~ The whole party spirinted to the temple, Zell fairly quick to catch up. "What the heck is happening?!" "You think I have any idea?" snapped Auron, as they made it to the temple. "That's what we're trying to find out." "Y'see," explained Rikku, hovering near the entrance, seemingly without the courage to go in, "He's been... well... rumbling since I got here... At first we thought it was an earthquake, but I dunno..." "Is there any way to find out?" Zell blinked, having wondered that himself. "By asking the fayth... That seems to be the most likely option." "But... he... it? Sounds kinda angry..." Rikku nodded. "That's why we need to go to find out." She paused, as though not wanting to admit her secret. "There's a way past the cloister of trials... A shortcut. We can get there quicker if we go that way..." Auron blinked broadly at this announcement. Surely there shouldn't be a shortcut... not past the Trials... "Do the monks know about this... shortcut?" Rikku bit her lip slightly as she shook her head. "Nu-uh..." "Does that really matter? If there's something we can do, shouldn't we just hurry up and do it?!" Zell looked at Rikku, raising his voice as the pillar, which had been dying down, shot up anew, threatening to drown their voices out. "Where's this shortcut?" Auron frowned, the blonde's decsive tone reminding him quiet plainly of Tidus. He then turned to Rikku, his gaze seeming to repeat Zell's question. Seeing Auron's gaze as a sign of permission, she led the three survivors around to the side of the temple, to a door set in the ground, which could easily have been part of a cellar. "It's down here..." Without hesitating, Cecil grasped the handle and pulled it up, opening both doors to create a hole in the ground. "Down here? Rikku nodded, plainly terrified. "Well, here goes nothing." Crouching, Cecil dissapeared into the hole, closely followed by Auron, then Rikku who was ushered down by Zell, who followed last. He landed on the floor with a soft "thump" and looked about in the dim light. "Where to now?" "This way." Pointing, the Al Bhed led the way through the shortcut that shouldn't even exist.
Originally posted by MillieFan Gravitation is original yaoi ^sick^ . I personally find it distasteful and wouldn't choose to see it no matter what, but as it is original work and not fanfic/fanart made with characters that were not openly intended to be yaoi, I don't officially oppose its existence nor will I judge those who don't share my conviction.
*sigh* And I don't suppose that was about the topic at all? *refuses to get into a debate at the moment* Although, quick note, there's a difference between yaoi and shounen ai... Anyway... I'm glad ADV picked up DNAngel... I'm a huge fan of the manga, but didn't think much of the series (watching an episode near the end which didn't make any sense -- d'oh!) but having recently filled in on the whole lot, I'm looking forward to getting hold of the English version. And .hack//DUSK has made me pleased too ^_^ I've only seen one episode, but if it's .hack it has my full attention! And... ugh... Galaxy Angel... I saw maybe, the first 2 episodes of that? Then I stopped watching it. It was... ack... O_o Bandai can do what they will with it, I'll not be buying it ~_~;; Gundam F91! *does a happy jig* I have never seen that. And I want to branch into more Gundam than just Wing... So yay for that!! *bounces some more*

Anime Yaoi or Straight? What's the deal?
Braidless Baka replied to LetalisNox's topic in Otaku Central
Ohhh, I don't know MillieFan... "artistic vandalism" is going a little too far methinks...
Originally posted by MillieFan I've seen pages of listings for fanfiction where there were about 4 yaoi stories to 5 or 6 normal stories per page listing.
The links are there only because people have written them. If you don't want to read them, they're usually clearly marked as yaoi/yuri or whatever before you read them. Don't like them, don't read them. Some people obviously like them, or they wouldn't be there... O_O;;
Originally posted by MillieFan It is similar to taking a look at the Mona Lisa, thinking "wow, this would be better with pink hair, a moustache, and a toadstool growing out of its head," and spray-painting your features onto the painting itself, or peddling your Photoshop remake of "The Real Mona Lisa" for money and telling both art conoisseurs and people who haven't even seen the real thing that it's supposed to have pink hair, a moustache, and a toadstool.
And if you like it better that way, then power to you ^_^ The fact is that some people do, and that's how they got into anime in the first place. And if they don't prefer that, if they're interested, they'll soon find out that it doesn't have the moustache, or the mushroom. There was a time when I thought Weiss Kreuz was a shounen ai show... (Although, you've gotta admit, four guys working together in a flowershop? It's just a little suspicious?) I mean, I get unnerved by all the yaoi pictures out there... I'll admit I get a little squirmy if someone suggests my favourite characters are paired off in an act of lustful sex. But, at the same time, it's freedom of interpretation and freedom of speech. Shounen ai doesn't bother me (same for shoujou ai). And the same kind of pictures and fics in a hetrosexual manner make me squirm too. Maybe that's naive and childish of me, but there's my view. Fans' interpretations of the shows they're watching are part of what makes it a better show, I think. When someone's pointed out a pairing to me, I'm usually surprised I didn't see it first time round. The DuoxHeero pairing was something I completely missed the first time round. Now it's just "normal". As long as there's a basis for it in the story, I don't mind ^_^ It's just another idea for what could happen / be happening in the story, and I like speculation like that. It adds flavour. ^_^;; -
You know what? That wasn't even funny... There's no way I ever want to be in a situation like that again... The basics of it was, I panicked. I have a slight claustrophobia. Usually not enough to make me panic like I did, heck, usually I forget it's even there. But suddenly, I forgot it was a simulation. I forgot that my life wasn't on the line. I also forgot that I was being supervised. I was fine for the first few minutes. The mission I was simulating involved liberating a small town from the enemy. This basically meant, acurate shooting, and avoiding stepping on random buildings/villagers. A fairly good choice, some might say. Kinda like shooting toy ducks at the fair. But I wasn't gonna get a prize... For a little while I was in control. I tried listening past the speakers for whatever the boys were doing. No dice. These pod things must be pretty solid. So I returned my gaze to the mission, the simulated night quiet around me. Then it started. I just felt a little warm at first, y'know, a little hot under the collar. It occured to me that, if something happened, I couldn't get out. I started to sweat a little bit. But nothing else, this was a simulation, nothing was going to go wrong. Then in my head I named a thousand and one things that could. The walls started hemming in on me, but I ignored them as best I could. Then, suddenly, from behind, came a spitting of gunfire. Promptly I turned around, the butterflys in my stomach beating desperately against my ribs as I disposed of the opposing suit. But it was no good now, the gunfire had alerted everyone else to my location. Throwing caution to the wind, I stood upright, and concentrated on shooting them all down from a distance. Then, about three came in too close. So, I disgarding the earlier tactic, I drew a saber and moved in closer. I realised then that I was screaming. I'm not sure when I started, but I found that I couldn't stop. Fear, nausea and panic all in one action. And a small amount of pain too. Always the odd one out, no matter where I went it was the same. Here it was going to be no different, boys versus girls. I was too loud to be taken seriously. What was the point in even trying? "DIE!!!!" Relentless I hacked up several moblie suits in a wild frenzy. I guess that way I did it was quick and effective, they certainly werent standing when I was done. Then, suddenly, the world went black. There was a slight hum as the simulation ran to a halt, and a small voice sounded in my ear. "I think that's quite enough Rix. Out. Now." I had no problem obeying the order as the door slid open quietly. Trembling and pale, I pulled myself out, suddenly autely aware that I had had an audience.

OOC: I never thought I'd see the day when I'd roleplay Zell as a toad... O_o Heh, the fun never ends... Did you realise we've been playing this for 2 and a half months now...? Whoa... ~~~~~~~ Zell hopped around for a few minutes, croaking for all he was worth (albeit veeeeeeery sloooooowly), before finally Tidus picked him up and glared at Auron and Cecil. "You've gotta turn him back!" "And why do we have to? To us, this is fun." Cecil contributed to this by sniggering like a ten-year-old. "CROAK!" Tidus and Squall both glanced at each other and blinked. Then Tidus took up the offensive again. "You just can't leave him as a toad! A slow toad at that! It's hardly good sportsmanship!" "Sportsmanship?!" "Trust me," murmured Auron with a slight smirk, "We like him a lot better this way." "Auuuron!" "Yes?" replied Auron cooly to Tidus's glare. Then with a smirk, he paused. "I'm not the one who turned him into a toad. You should take that part up with Cecil." Blinking, Cecil muttered, "Thanks for passing the buck." "No problem." Auron chuckled, clearly amused, as Tidus's attention shifted from him to Cecil. "Cecil, c'mon!" "CROAK!" "...!"

After a few more minutes, Linzi got below deck and glanced about. The place was dark and depressing, and she wondered who could possibly live in a dungeon like this. "Helloooo?" "Eh? Who's 'at?" Linzi blinked at the roughened voice, leaning a little further into the darkness. "Is someone here...?" Then, with a sudden shriek, she leapt back, as several blades thrust themselves at her. "Wha?!" "Oops, sorry there," came the voice again with a chuckle. Now she was properly focused in the dim light, she could see Gold, the cook, a little more clearly. His handful of knives rotated round to show a metalic hand which he offered her to shake, and awkwardly she took hold of one of the fingers and shook it. "M'name's Gold," he announced warmly. "Y'must be Linzi, are ya? I've bin hearin' a lot about'cha." "Y-you have?" Gold nodded, and first thing I gots ter tell ya is that Bobby was down here before looin' for ya. The Cap'n's havin' a meeting for some o' you more important folk. Go on, off wit'cha." Nodding, Linzi, her hand gripping the map in her pocket tightly as she went, moved away to the meeting. ~~~ OOC: K.K.C, the only reason I didn't invite Gold to the meeting is that he's a "bad" guy, and Kat will have only wanted to see the "good" people. Maybe he could eavsdrop if you like?

Stupid, stupid, stupid punk! Yeah, trust me, 5 miles isn't pleasant in the early hours of the morning! I was going to smash something!! Ohhhhhh! And that kid, Brant, what was with him and his "hahaha"s and his freaking pancakes!? "Too cool"? What's with that too? Oy... Guys are a mystery we may never work out ladies... just go with it... Which was another point... Just because I was the girl, I was always on my own. When they were probably socialising or whatever, I was talking to myself... Well, not literally I guess, but close enough. I mean, I understand why guys and girls need to be split up or whatever, but it was annoying. They seemed close already, and it was something you could see in the way they acted around each other. It wasn't a "strong" friendship yet, but you could tell it was on its way there. And I was just the "girl" - y'know? The alien thing... O_o But, anyway, the next morning was another early one. Rude awakening, not much time for breakfast. Brant made a smart comment or two, Frank even chipped in with one of his own, and Noyade seemed to stay mostly quiet. Then the "wonderful" (ick) guy from yesterday, who's name completely evades me, stalked in. And I mean stalked. He was like a tomcat on a mission. "You may thing you had a hard day yesterday," he announced, "But today's gonna be a little different!" I blinked. "Different?! How?" Smartly, he turned and the stalk morphed into an important-seeming stomp. I assumed he wanted us to follow him. Although I'll never figure out what gave me that impression...

Literally bouncing, Zell approached Squall, who, as per usual, was standing around glaring. It looked like he and Tidus hadn't made up just yet... "Heeeeeey!!" "... ... ..." "Hey, what is it? Aren't ya pleased to see me?!" "... ... ..." "Urrrmmm..." Squall paused, looking down at his feet for a second. "Well done..." "Eh...?" Squall continued as though Zell hadn't spoken. "I really didn't expect you to get this far. Rinoa maybe... but never you." Zell blinked. "I'm sensing my Dumb Zell stereotype kicking in again..." He paused. "Why "never me"?" Squall shook his head slightly. "Never mind. Although," he continued after a pause, "I do have one question..." "Uhh... y'do?" "Yeah... Right at the start I heard you say something like "Blondes gotta stick together"." Squall paused with a smirk. "And I'm not blonde." "Eek... y'mean you heard me say that?" Squall nodded, "Not that it matters, I just thought I'd bring it up." "Geez... I'm sorry... I just got, y'know, caught up in the moment. And that Rikku chick looked like she was going to take my eye out." "I'm surprised Rinoa didn't..." "Trust me, me too..." "So..." idly Squall scuffed at the ground with a foot. "How's the challenges been? Easy, hard?" "Well..." Zell leaned against the wall behind him beside Squall, sctratching his head. "It's been interesting... That's the best word for it." "I heard you look good in a dress..." Zell's face turned a beet colour. "Hey! I won that challenge!" Squall continued teasingly. "I also hear you were quite "feminine" in the part. I've never seen you slap someone before Zell..." "Who's been blabbing!?! I'll kill them!!" By now the poor blonde's face was beet red. "Sephiroth." Zell twitched a few times. "Or maybe I'll let him live..." And, for once in his life, Squall actually smiled. "How did I know you were going to say that?" "You're phychic?" "Not quite, Zell. Not quite..."

Name: Josephine Rix Age: 17 Gundam: Phoenix Gundam Alliance: E.S.N. General Bio: Josie is generally a loud individual, confident in everything she does, and not afraid to do things that'll spell trouble for herself and those around her, providing she sees a way out of the trouble in the end. This tends to make her a little headstrong and overconfident, but if someone doesn't like it, they can go talk to someone else. Josie (also known as Joe amongst her friends) generally doesn't take much interest in politics, although the current situation between the rebel faction and the earth/colonies has captured her interest. She was more than a little surprised to discover she'd been spotted by military agents, and greets the proposal with mostly disbelief. However, she doesn't take much convincing after the time had been taken to talk her through the proposition, and accepted the offer readily. Mech Design: A medium range gundam armed with a High Output Mega Particle Beam Cannon. It is also equipped with two beam sabers, this gundam is dubbed this because of its large wings (no not like wing zero custom's.) also dubbed Phoenix because of its fire-red color scheme. NOTE: Just so you're aware, my knowledge about any series of Gundam, other than Wing, is very limited... I'll do my research, but I just thought I'd tip you off before you started selecting people. ^_^

Well, I changed my sign-up in a bid to be slightly older ^_^ Let me know, I'm willing to play first year anyway if I'm not what you were after! Oh yeah, you said "over" 3rd year, so I went for 5th. That's okay right? Or did you mean "3rd" years? -
OOC: Heh heh... the amusement *laughs and sets about waking zell up* ~~~~ At this point, Zell was walking through a wonderfully sugar-coated land, full of doughnuts, hotdogs, and striped candycanes. With no recollection of how he'd got there, nor wanting to leave. Then, for seemingly no reason, the blonde was accosted by a group of pixies... all of whom wanted to give him candy. And who was he to refuse such a gift? "Uhh... thanks" ^_____^ "Glory to our King!" "Your King?! Wow!! King of Candyland!" "Long live King Zell!" ~~~ Meanwhile, in the waking world, the blonde was being carefully pursued by Auron, who by now knew better than to wake sleepwalkers. Auron was also a little afraid of Zell's candy-related mumblings, and really didn't want to be chewed on like some kind of human-sized hotdog. "Candy is mine... the King... all mine..." "Yes Zell... whatever you say..." "Yeah...!" ~~~ "Enter the lair our King!" Zell blinked, several candy bars slipping from his grasp as he did so. "What?" "Slay the feathered beast my Lord!! Here is its temple!" Zell blinked again, successfully surprised. "What the heck are you talking about?" "Won't our King protect us?!" "Uhh... sure... but..." "Our King has forsaken us!" "What?! No!" Zell paused, looking between the pixies, and really not wanting to surrender his candy in order to go on his quest. Reluctantly he continued, "What? In there?" The pixies nodded, throwing up a huge cheer as Zell decidedly approached the mouth of the scary "lair" of the "feathered beast". ~~~ And, Zell managed to surprise the watching Auron as he suddenly turned, the action decisive, towards the temple. As though he was headed there with a purpose. ~~~~~~~ OOC: I'm not actually sure how Zell would've known about Valefor, for his subconsious to tell him about the "feathered beast" - nor am I sure what he's going to do when he gets there O_o Let's just see what you guys do with that ^_^

How about a system where, you have a certain number of "points" a day to give to people you think deserve them? So say someone's written an intelligent post, you click a little button in the bottom to give them a point? But you only have so many points a day, so you've gotta be careful who you give your points to... And the number of points would reset itself across the boards, say every week? I've seen a similar idea in use elsewhere, and it seems to work well... although you would have to contend with friends just giving their points to each other O_o -- I dunno, maybe it could be workable

Heehee, this sounds intriguing ^_^ Name: Todd Greenbottle Age: 11 (16) Sex: Male Eye: Green Hair: Dusty Brown Wand: Birch, pegasus hair, 9 inches House: Not yet sorted Year: 1st (5th) Pet: Crumpet (Honey-coloured cat) Personality: Todd is a loyal person, very aware of where is alligience lies, and perfectly ready to fight for his beliefs. However, he can also sometimes be a little too quick on the uptake, jumping to conclusions which he may or may not act on. He's acutely aware of people's feelings and how they might be feeling underneath a fake expression. He's also quite the one for practical jokes, although they backfire on him more often than not. Hwever, that doesn't stop him trying! O_O! Biography: Todd is from a pureblood wizarding family, his parents being reluctant to let him attend Hogwarts to mix with "mudbloods" (an opinion which Todd doesn't share), but putting up with it because of the excellence of the school. Todd sometimes feels overpowered, as his parents push him into "proving" his heritage, and being a little clumsy by nature, he has always suffered at the end of sharp words. He loves his parents dearly, but is aware that sometimes he's taken for granted, or overlooked somehow. (If I'm accepted as being older, you can just disregard this next bit) Todd's trip to Diagon Alley was made alone, both his parents being too busy with their magic-related jobs to see him much further than to the dismantling wall, and to ensure he had his shopping list with him. EDIT: Anything in (bold brackets) is stuff I've edited, if Todd is accepted as an older student! ^_^ -
This day the heat was not itself The weatherman, convinced of change But the poor soul had no idea Of what his fate had pre-arranged The ground was the thing that gave at first Though slowly, it was over time Easing gently through the motions As though it were a knowing mime Then suddenly it gave its all Foundations felling with a snap Frustration released with such contempt The trembling echo of a sudden crack And then the heat took to the sea Raging tempest morphed to steam the water sizzled and cast away No more important than our dreams Then from the sea, up into heaven The inferno turned, a raging sky The birds then panicked, all soared away But we refused to hear their cry We were all blind beyond ourselves This wonderful thing to explain Why is this, and how does it work? We were desperate to stake our claim Our death began to build one day But bless us if we saw Then common sense enveloped us But by then we were no more...

OOC: WOOO!! *blinks* Why do I get the feeling I'm being treated like a Tidus-a-like? *chuckles* Heh, he's my favourite character after Zell, so it's all good ^_^;; ----- *throws things* Argh!! Why do people post while I'm typing! *wanders off to type something else* :D ~~~~~ "Boys will be boys," Lulu murmured in an amused tone, leaning down to pick up the tray from where she'd dropped it, flicking random tiny braids back over her shoulder. Then she stood straight at look at them. Then, as was Lulu's usual manner, she simply turned back the way she had come and wandered off, simply waiting for them to follow her. Hurriedly, Wakka, Cecil and Zell did exactly at as they followed Lulu and Auron. They caught up with Auron, slowing from their jog, and Wakka queried, "So Rikku and Tidus are out huh?" Auron snorted slightly. "Tidus never even made it onto the ship..." "Are you kiddin'? No way!" "Yes way, he was fighting of all things..." Lulu sniffed slightly. "When he gets back I'm going to hang him up by his ears." Wakka winced. So did Zell, much to Lulu's amusement. "Come on," she continued, sauntering on ahead. "I'm sure Yuna would like to say hello to you..." Auron smirked slightly, the action looking slightly unnerving when it wasn't hidden by his collar. "I'm sure she would, let's keep going then shall we?"

Quietly, and a little surprised, Linzi watched Charlie rush off up the stairs. "There's such a thing," she murmured, mostly to herself, "As a hyperactive kid... even if he's an android..." Linzi cast a look at the Captain, who was standing surveying her crew, almost forgetting Linzi as soon as she'd stopped talking, before wandering across the deck in search of "First Mate Bob". "A-hoy there lil' Missy!" Blinking in surprise, Linzi turned round, to be presented with a little pirate who was half her height, an eye patch, a peg leg, and a ninja mask. She paused, before saying, still surprised. "Yeah, hi..." Bob squinted at her. "You're not being the girl who has the... y'know?" "You mean the m--" "SHHHH!!! The Cap'n won't have you yeling about it on board..." Bob paused before beckoning Linzi in closer to hear. "There's sneaky folk a'bord this ship, missy. Don't be ta'kin anythin' they say as t' truth. Y'hear?" Frowning slightly and standing again, Linzi nodded. "Yeah. Sure..." Bob nodded confidently, before turning as someone called his name. Then he turned back to Linzi with a grin. "We're awaitin' for a few more o' the crew, but jus' you sit tight until they get here. Then the cap'n'll wanna speak with ya about that there thing-i-mee you gots in yer pocket." Looking highly confused, Linzi nodded again, her hand instinctively reaching into her pocket and ensureing the ball was still there. Then, moving away from Bob, she went to the side of the ship, watching the busy preperations for launch. From here she would have a good vantage point of anyone who chose to come aboard, and being the cynical person she was, that suited her just fine.

OOC: Okay... I figured it was about time to get this rpg up and running ^_^ -- Those of you who haven't seen Treasure Planet should just be aware that it's a furturistic version of Tresure Island but with robots, lasers, spaceships and other generic stuff -- if you're not sure, PM me or simply follow my lead ^__^;; The characters are as follows: ~ Braidless Baka -- Elizabeth Hawkins Girl with the "map" ~ Geist -- Charlie Newland ~ vicky -- Paul Kerk ~ BearsBaby635 -- Katherine Lewis Captain ~ §corpio -- Meebo Morph ~ Shikaku Kitoku -- Atoni Rewern ~ K.K.C. -- Henry Gold "Evil" Cyborg NOTES -- Kat's first officer will be a Japanese Ninja Pirate by the, seemingly unimaginative, name of Bob. You can call him Bob, or First Officer Bob... since he appears to actualy have no surname O_o -- He's basically an old dude who likes to tell stories about "the old days" Any other questions, be sure to ask me ^_^ ~~~~~~ IC: Looking down at the slip of paper in her hand, Linzi cast a careful eye over the "Legacy". It hung a few feet above the dock, numerous ropes holding it to the ground. Sighing, she adjusted her grip of the bag on her back and stepped up onto the ramp, feeling the sphere-like map pulsating in the pocket of her large jacket. She wanted adventure... That's why she was here... Her mother hadn't wanted her to go, but the whole idea was to make something out of herself. Besides... her mother didn't ever seem to want her to do anything. Still frowning, she stepped up onto the deck of the boat, and cast her competetive green-eyed gaze about, wondering if anyone was going to say anything to her. Then, hearing a sound behind her, she turned sharply, to see a little boy behind her. He only looked to be 12 or so... Blonde hair and blue eyes peered at her. "Uhh... hi..." Linzi shifted her bag on her shoulder as she wondered exactly what the kid was doing hiding behind her. ~~~~ OOC: Well, I left Geist an opening, but anyone else can fill it to yell at him or me or whatever O_o;;

Anime What did you all think B.T.'s name stood for?

Well... when someone says BT to me... I instantly think "British Telecom" -- So I made that link, no idea why... I was rolling around laughing when I figured what it really stood for ;) -
Well... I've just got my second set done in my ears, and I like them... it was something I've been meaning to do for a while. Sometimes they hurt a bit, or ache, (like now ~_~) but I figure once they heal properly and I can change the earrings when I like, it'll be worth it. But for some reason, any other kind of piercing freaks me out O_o, like a friend of mine has her belly pierced, and everytime I see it, I'm like ~_~;; *shudder* -- It looks lovely, it just looks really painful too O_o

I got a request off Logan to make him a banner out of two pictures he gave me. I was quite pleased with the results, so I figured I'd post it here for feedback and comments ^_^
