I haven't been in this thread in a while, haha. Awful shame, to be honest. Anywayyy, I'm gonna get some things off my chest. Elysia's new full-length CD "Lion Of Judas" was a complete FAIL in my opinion. They completely did away with their sound which I think helped popularize Deathcore and slow, heavy-a** breakdowns. They kicked out 3 of the 5 original band members, got 3 new ones, and got a new sound. They're more thrash then anything now. They got a bit more technical, but that still doesn't take away from the awful direction in sound they took. Zak, the vocalist, doesn't sound good AT ALL anymore. He has no high scream anymoe, and hardly uses any growls. He's using yells now, kind of like The Warriors. It's just all bad. I miss old Elysia. Listen to their debut full-length, "Masochist." That CD is just fantastic, but the new one makes me go ew. =/ Anyone listen to any Knights Of The Abyss new songs off of their new full-length "Shades" yet? Because THAT is fantastic.

Photographer: "Oh God, this picture is ridiculous. I mean c'mon, no one's gonna believe this. HIS CHOPSTICKS ARE RED FOR CRYING OUT LOUD. WHY AREN'T THEY BROWN."

No one replied to it this time! Haha, oh well. Aceburner won this round. ;D!

YES! Haha, awesome. I've been meaning to use this picture for a while for something like this! ;D! http://japanload.com/wp-content/uploads/2007/08/die_hard_bruce_willis.jpg I posted the link as well just in case anyone has trouble viewing the image.
Thats pretty amazing. Im really clueless when it comes to digital art and hopefully I can learn it from these boards as have you. Its amazing how influencial OB have been to you, you even went and got a art/comercial design bachelors. Nice!
Thanks! I'm actually in the process of getting it right now, I haven't yet done so. Yeah though, the Art Studio here had a HUGE impact on my love for graphic design right now. Well it used to anyway, when it was actually active. haha It's actually not funny, I don't know why I added that last "haha." =/
As Alucard said, that's pretty impressive. I too plan to get a degree in some sort of graphic design, although I'm having trouble deciding whether to go farther with illustration, computer graphics, or music. I was basically raised around Photoshop, with my dad who worked as a photo re-toucher for some car companies, and now works for a newspaper in Atlanta.(I don't get it seeing how we live in Michigan.) I would use some of the banners I made for OB, but sadly they exceed the size limits
And thanks to you too! That's really cool that you were actually raised around the software though, so you at least have basic knowledge of how it works, what is appealing, and so on. I grew up without it so when I started, I had to basically start and progress on my own. I did have help from online communities though, especially here like I previously said. And you should post up the banners in your own thread anyway! You're never going to learn and progress if you keep them stored on your hard drive without showing them to anyone, haha. Comments and criticism are a beautiful thing. You learn A LOT from it. ;D!

What got me into art/graphic design? It was back in 9th grade, so a little over 4 years ago, and I discovered this one really interesting website. At the time I was really into anime, which I no longer am, so I was interested in finding anime websites. I found theOtaku. And then OtakuBoards. Haha, as surprising as it is seeing the current condition and activity level of the Art Studio, OtakuBoards and many GFX artists on here actually got me really interested in art. Nomad and Kenji were actually two of my early influences, I really admired their artwork and banner/art making abilities. At first, I was using MS Paint, which is just awful. I know, hahah. Then I got Jasc Paint Shop Pro 8 which I still use to this day, but only to add borders to tags/artwork, hahaha. I was never really good with PSP 8.0, and I was only making artwork every now and then. At this point, I thought making signatures and LP digital artwork was fun, but I never really took it seriously. Then, I finally got my hands on Adobe Creative Suite Design Standard. I was always just messing around with Photoshop CS and Illustrator CS, but this time I started getting more serious towards the art field. It's been about a year since I got Adobe CS Standard, I have since then purchased the upgraded version to CS2. I'm also planning on getting my Bachelor's in Art/Commercial Design within the next few years. And it's all thanks to OB, ha.
It would make a lot of sense if Wal-Mart were actually funding an entire system of illegal activity. I wonder if the CEO of Wal-Mart sits in a big leather chair and strokes a cat or something. He's probably twirling his moustache and saying "Excellent, excellent."
Ah, yes, of course. His name is Giovanni. He's the leader of little-known team known as Team Rocket. Team Rocket owns Wal-Mart, obviously. The evidence is obvious! BANDANNAS! Jesse uses them as her skirt. Heaven knows it's small enough to be. And for the obvious uses for bandannas, I suppose. OWNERSHIP OF WAL-MART! Wal-Mart is taking over small, local business stores wherever they pop-up. Team Rocket's mission is to take over the world and every possible Pokemon ever born. Mainly Pikachu, anyway. And I guess trying would better suited in this case. There's more evidence, I actually have a file on my desktop. And the cat is actually a Persian, James. ;D! Haha, James! The description of the CEO was just too good to let by. ;)

I know for a fact it wouldn't change a thing. As if those gang members or their mothers couldn't make their own homemade bandanas? Just imagine it everyone. On KPBS or something, haha. Arts & Crafts: GANGSTERED OUT. haha I'm sure they would still manage to find a way to obtain their "precious bandanas." If Wal-Mart wants to keep selling them, I say go for it. It's not going to effect me anyway, unless I join the Mexican Mafia. Then we've got srs busness on our hnds gais. haha ;D
-
Yeah, Wal-Mart should discontinue selling red and blue bandanas. Because according to a statistic I just made up, once you stop selling red and blue bandanas, gang violence involving Crips and Bloods will decrease by about 93.984% hahah ;D!

Harry Potter > United States > Arkansas > Diamonds > Jewellery Materials > Quartz ;D! Alright, here's one: Adobe Photoshop > Chromosomes lawlz, have fun!

Rivalries run deeper then we think? hahahaha, oh God, that was really bad and dirty. Sorry everyone, haha. =/ [EDIT] Ha, I hope people get the joke. It's... well, naughty? Um.. yeah. hah

"Time for srs busness, gais."

I've been going through my "I'm going to listen to All Shall Perish non-stop while I'm drivin my car around" phase. haha They're building up so much for that CD, ughhhh, I can't wait. ha Lucky! Haha, Summer Slaughter won't be in San Diego for another month and a half or so. I'm excited for it, but I'll wait. Zen, how many people are you going with? On a side-note, is anyone going to Warped Tour? There are actually a few bands I really like who are gonna be playing, so I'm seriously considering attending the San Diego date.
-
George Bush at his finest, everyone. ;D!

THIS THREAD SHALL NOT DIE. Anyone into All Shall Perish? I can't wait for their new CD to come out. This is a quote I got from one of their blogs:
Great news is finally here, we have been working frantically around the clock with Zach Ohren at Castle Ultimate Studios to create what we consider the heaviest, most cutting edge Perish album to date. Listening back on what we have already laid down in the studio, its apparent that we have upped our game again compared to the last CD. The new stuff literally is sending chills down my spine!
hahaha, their last CD was already WAY heavy and cutting edge! This is gonna be beyond brutal, I can't wait hah. The breakdowns better sound good too, or I'll punch them all in the teeth. I don't doubt they will though. ;D!
-
It's like this: every time you create something you wanna show it off. Hey, why not show it off at the Art Studio at OB! It's really popular, you'll get a reply in your thread with really detailed critique and constructive criticism in like 5 minutes. OH HEY, WAIT. :animedepr hahah

Activity in the Art Studio? haha, yeahhh. =/
Speaking of deathcore, has anyone listened to At All Cost or Arsonists Get All the Girls? AAC has alottttt of thrash and stuff in their stuff... And AGATG has like... well. Alottttt of grindcore... electro grind stuff that is. AGATG's new cd is kind of all over the place, which I thought when I bought it would appeal to me alot, but... this is a bad kind of all over the place. Not too great. But their debut CD was aweeesssome. "City of Angels Cakewalk" is one of my favorite songs off of it. Ah... this feels too good. Before boothten showed up, no one else listened to deathcore on here. :]
The only CD I like by At All Cost is "It's Time To Decide." The song "Human Now" on there is really good, by far my favorite on the CD. And I agree with you about Arsonists' new CD. I'm not a fan of it at all, "Hits From The Bow" is just way more appealing to me. And I've been here at OB since 2002, hahah. I just wasn't active for a while, then came back. Granted, when I first joined I was listening to Linkin Park and what-not, hahahah. Good times, ha. I'm much more satisfied with the music I listen to now, to say the least. The music I listen to now = secks. ;D! Did anyone listen to any of Elysia's new songs off their new CD "Lion Of Judas" yet? Haha, I sound pushy, I know. I just wanna hear other people's opinion of it.
-
I listened to them for the sake of conversation, lol. They were good, enjoyable, etc. But to be honest, they need a little bit more of an originality factor, you know? But I'd definitely listen to them regularly if I owned a CD from them. Good stuff.
+1 QFT, my friend. QFT. To be honest, I'd probably get bored with them pretty fast if I had their CD. "Legions" Live by Tales Of The Black Freighter I saw this video cause someone left it as a comment on their page. If I'm being completely honest, I'm not really impressed. They don't have good stage presence, they're just standing there playing. Haha, wtf is up with that. I mean, I know people get nervous when they play live, but I can't stand when everyone in the band kinda just stands there. They were alright though. Like Whoa, Mann said previously though, they definitely are a bit lacking in the originality aspect of their music. Anyone listen to Elysia's new CD "Lion Of Judas" yet? Um, yeah. =/
If your going to gang up on me and force your your opinions down my throat fine. If you wanna go on and on about the same old **** fine. Excuse me for trying to talk about something else for once.
I personally am not trying shove opinions down your throat, nor do I think anyone else is. By all means, keep talking about your "extreme" pop, like I said though the majority doesn't find it extreme so don't expect acknowledgment or any form of approval from me or anyone else in this thread. I also find it extremely hypocritical that you can bash all you want on the "-core" bands/music but the second someone bashes on the music you like, you p*ssy out of the discussion and walk away. Stand up for your opinions bro. Onto the topic at hand, haha, iwrestledabearonce should go on a US tour soon. I barely started listening to them but want them to come to San Diego asap, hah. [EDIT] Hah, Aberinkula, this thread is about Metal? haha Aberinkula, this thread is about Metal. ;D!
-
If you use pop music as the center I'd say NMH is pretty for away from that. Making them extreme in that sense of the definition. Also they fit in with the definition given at the beginning of this thread.
Haha, let's all get super anal about what we each think the definition of "extreme" is, shall we? If you want to talk about bands that wouldn't fall under the genres of Metal/Hardcore/what-have-you (which are honestly the genres I think were intended to be spoken about in this thread but that's just a matter of opinion), go for it just don't expect any awknowledgment on my behalf. Just being honest.
Anyway talking about these core bands gets so boring after awhile. I'm actually starting to understand Jakes stance on the whole thing. So yea I am gonna do my best to bring up things that aren't what people normally think of as extreme but still fit in. It will keep the thread interesting. Dammit.
Then you go ahead and talk about something other then "-core" bands? We're not forcing you to talk about them. We'll just talk around you, hahah. Seeing as how the majority of the kids that have posted in this thread all like "-core" bands/music quite a bit. I'm not trying to start a fight, ha, I'm just giving my two cents on the matter. ;D!

ZOMFG I KNOW! hahah, ahhhh. Listen to "Alaskan Flounder Basket" from 00:15-00:34, that beats sounds fantastic. Especially the beginning little beat from 00:15-00:23. It reminds of another song, but I can't think of it for the life of me right now. The same applies to the final breakdown in "Ulrich Firelord" that start at 02:30-End ha. Regardless, it's all soo danceable/tear-upable hahah. And the video they have on their is just ridiculous. All of their songs are just fantastic, to be honest hah. Everything about them is just incredible for me right now. I think they're easily one of my favorite bands for the month as of right now. haha
-
I think the point of the thread is to talk about Extreme music though, not music that is more underground than it is mainstream. Correct me if I'm wrong though. I don't listen to that band, nor have I heard or taken the time to listen to them, I'm just sayin, folks... haha Change of subject: everyone on here who listens to and enjoys Deathcore SHOULD LISTEN TO THIS BAND IMMEDIATELY. iwrestledabearonce ohmygod. They're crazy good, awesome breakdowns, really chill parts during songs, and insanely random. Just listen and we'll all have some coffee and talk about them, haha. AND THEIR VOCALIST IS A GIRL, BUT SOUNDS BRUTE AS F**K. hahaha She sounds really good, I could go on. I'm really into them right now. Listen to every song completely that they have on their MySpace before coming to a judgment. I promise you, they are worth the listen.
-
zomfg, I'm going to that too! Not all the way over in South Carolina mind you, haha, the one here in San Diego. I'm hoping to destroy in the pits they'll have, along with a few friends. Ahhhh, I can't wait. Especially for Born Of Osiris, Despised Icon, and ESPECIALLY Whitechapel. How dare you not post them Zen. How dare you. hahah
-
Just some quick questions before I go off, make something, then find out I had the wrong idea of what to do from the get-go haha. Now, we can make anything right? Are these like the Graphic Challenges we had some time ago where you make a piece with a theme provided by the previous poster, then when you post your own piece you then choose a theme for the next artist to do? Or is this going to be along the lines of a contest. Or will you be the sole person to decide whos is best or what theme will be next? [Note] Haha, these kinds of things should be planned out here or something. And the title sounds funny. Might just me, but yeah, hah.
