Originally posted by Queen Asuka Heh, don't take things so seriously. ^_^ You don't REALLY have to take things to the Sparring Arena, it just seems like if you're going to start a fight, that'd be the place to do it. Now, let's get back on topic.
Ok, don't worry about it. :) I wasn't planning on starting a fight that WASN'T about Street Fighter, but anyway... The one in my sign is Akuma. That's a screen cap from the Street Fighter Alpha movie. I was upset at the fact that the movie showed Akuma scarcely, and I'm sure fans wanted to see the movie BECAUSE of Akuma. The movie was good, but I'm sure Alpha fans, like myself, were disappointed in some way.

I just saw episode 13. Wow... I am suddenly mad at ZAFT. Too bad one of the Gundam pilots is a reckless fool. I hope Kira gets him! >
Originally posted by Valick well not all animes can be good can they. I will wait and see other opinions.. but I'm still renting it, I like to broaden my anime experiences.
Originally posted by Queen Asuka ALRIGHT you two. This is not an arguement thread. You can take it to the Sparring Arena and argue as much as you like.
Sorry. I just tend to fight fire with fire in these types of arguments. In other words, if someone replies to be offensively, I tend to reply with the same attitude. One thing, though, since I did not read anything about it in the rules: Can't we disagree with something someone else says here? Must all disagreements, about any topic, be taken to the "Sparring Arena"?

I am actually wishing that the TV series gets a different ending. Of course, I haven't seen the manga, so I'm less informed, but the movie ended very tragically. Even so, the opening OVA of the TV series gives the viewers hope that the destiny isn't written yet, that tragedy isn't a certain outcome. I took the words by Kotori as a foreshadowing for a completely different ending. *Crosses fingers*

One of the worst anime I've ever seen. After Zoids and Tekken: The Movie, it is one of my least favorite anime. The characters are boring and uninteresting, lifeless and without motivation. The strange color scheme in the episodes is more disturbing than artistic, and the story just plain sucks.
Originally posted by Meier_Link huh? so what if guy was in street fighter alpha? he was also in Street Fighter 2 series.. maybe Asuka was talkin about the movie with Guile being the main character. I'm stopping this arguement, you can say whatever you want
Hahahaha, that's great. I hand in proof of the series that back up what I say, and you back down? Why? This is nothing more than a friendly debate about a series. And yes, after checking, Alpha had already been released, but I'm still right about the show sucking, and about who the main character is, which is the whole point of this discussion.

The show WAS called Street Fighter II, and it was shown on the USA channel. You say that the show Asuka was referring to was about Ken and Ryu, when in fact the main character was Guile. She said it herself, and I agree with her because I saw the show in USA every Saturday as well, right before (or after) wrestling. Sure, there were times Ken and Ryu were important players in the series, like when Akuma showed up AGAINST Bison, but they were not the main characters. And it DOES sound like you are mixing the series and movies; it gets very confusing. Also, what is your problem with my criticizing the show? If I have an opinion about it, whether positive or negative, and I feel like speaking my mind, I will. Lastly... kindly use paragraphs. They are your friends. EDIT: Here's a link that may give you a clear head about the situation. In fact, I'll look for other links that explicitly state that Guile is the main character. http://www.cammyfan.com/Cammy-info/usa-sf-cammy/usa-sf-cammy.htm Oh, Mighty one! May I ask you... where are Ryu and Ken there? Being main characters, they should show up in every episode, don't ya think?

New Mobile Report Gundam Wing is one of my favorite overall anime series, and I'm growing a liking for Mobile Suit Gundam SEED.

I haven't read the manga, so I had no basis to compare it with the movie. Nevertheless, I liked X: The Movie because of the slick animation, gorgeous artwork, and great action. There was hardly any time to care for the characters or its story, so that was something I found displeasing. X: The Series is something else, though. I have the first two DVDs, and along with Hellsing, Mobile Suit Gundam SEED and Saint Seiya Hades, it is the series I'm currently more into. THIS time we get to know and care for the characters, and the animation and soundtrack are nothing short of impressive. The opening theme is great, too.
Originally posted by Meier_Link Guile was main character of the television series? No he wasn't. The animation was great, and Akuma, Sakura, Guy, and other characters were in it too so that's pretty cool. Why would u say Guile is main character and not Ryu and Ken? I don't believe u, I've seen the series on USA channel before and it mostly showed Ryu and Ken. I've only seen guile in one episode, the one where Cammy gets brain washed. It wasn't american crap, and the subject of this topic is "Street Fighter 2v", like I said, these 2 series are different. So why? why would u make fun of a different series and not even contribute to the the topic?
*Cracks knuckles* I thought I'd never get into an argument here. Luckily, I was wrong. ^_^ First of all, you seem to be confusing the many shows and movies that have come out for the franchise. Guile was the main character in the American Street Fighter series. He's even the guy that appears in the center of the screen, taking up all the space in the opening sequence. Ryu and Ken appeared rarely. Don't believe me? If you have Cartoon Network MEXICO, watch the show there. It shows both Street Fighter II (American crap) and Street Fighter V II. You will quickly notice that the main character is Guile, who's the leader of a group called "Street Fighter," where he has several 'members' under his command, like Cammy. Ken and Ryu are secondary characters there that Guile only looks for when needed. The whole show is basically this "Street Fighter" group, led by Guile, fighting the Shadowlaw group, led by Bison. Secondly, YOU were the one that who brought the USA television series to light, and I simply stated my dislike for it. However, I wasn't "making fun" of the series, but I was critiquing. The show had poor artwork and animation, and the story did not follow the video games.

I recommend Best Buy. The Hellsing DVDs are priced at $22.99 there. Pioneer dubbed them in English, but you can choose to watch the series in Japanese with subtitles. Alucard's Japanese voice rules. Oh, and if you hurry, you can get the emblem of Hellsing in the second DVD volume. ^_^

Great series. It is only 13 episodes long, but each one is packed with intense action, thanks to slick animation and artwork. The main character, Alucard, is as cool as they come. He's the usual super strong vampire that seems to be above any other night creature. I've seen 9 episodes, and I can't wait for the last volume to come out. It is a series worth watching.
Originally posted by Meier_Link I've seen all the street fighter television episodes on USA too.
My condolences. I used to watch that show when I was little every Saturday morning, before wrestling came on. That show was CRAP, and had the same mistake from the movie = Guile as the main character. Add choppy animation and awkward artwork, and you got yourself American-made crap.
Originally posted by Queen Asuka I used to watch the show that came on the USA Action Extreme Team back in the DAY. I have a few episodes recorded. It wasn't THAT bad... >.>;; I also saw the movie. The ANIMATED movie and the Theatrical movie that wasn't THAT bad, either. Better than Mortal Kombat, I'll say... I HATE Mortal Kombat. Can't even spell "Combat" right... Grr..
*Hits Cyke's soft spot* Mortal Kombat is the BEST video game movie out there, Asuka. It was true to the game, and it carried the story nicely. Linden Ashby completely stole the role of Johnny Cage. On the other hand, Street Fighter was horrible. The fact that they focused the storyline on Guile and not Ryu and Ken was detrimental to the quality of the movie. Ryu and Ken were even given the role of comedic relief. If I ever see the director or producer of that film, I will punch them. Well, not really... Plus, how can Jean Claude Van Damme play an all-American soldier? At least Bison was decent. P.S. The animated movie DID rule, though; yet Alpha was disappointing.

I have all four DVDs released by Manga. I really like the series. Sure, it isn't one of the best anime out there, but it's good enough to keep fans of the video game series hooked. It also has 29 episodes, 3 more than the usual 26, which is something I was surprised about.

I saw the series from time to time in Locomotion; they used to show it before Neon Genesis Evangelion. At the time, I didn't pay much attention to it, since it was very old. However, after watching the two movies released in the U.S., I wish I had paid more attention to it.

Anime AAKK!!! Hasn't ANYONE wanted to talk about VHD an' Bloodlust!?!?
Magnum Apex replied to Sarasan's topic in Otaku Central
Originally posted by spike speigel I watched VHD when it was on the sci-fi channel at around 12:00 at night. That really wasn't a good idea. Has anyone here done something like that? It's pretty scary.
No, but playing Silent Hill at midnight, when you live alone, IS pretty scary. FUNimation dubbing: -5 Want a good Dragon Ball/Z/GT dubbing? Learn Spanish, move to Latin America, and watch the Mexican version. Better yet; learn Spanish, turn to Telemundo every Sunday morning at 7:00 a.m. ET, and watch the Mexican version. :D
Originally posted by Queen Asuka Of course I did. The girls have to be cute. And they are. But the lack of the cute guy is a little disappointing. Oh well, I guess I'll probably check it out, though. What's the girl's name with the long reddish brown hair?
Naru Narusegawa. Oh, and there are a couple of secondary characters that are made to be "cute" in the series, like Seta, and a very dumb guy. If you remotely like high school/college romantic stories (like I do) you'll really enjoy the show.
Originally posted by Queen Asuka What attracts me to an anime is attractive characters and that guy is just not even cute...
Well, the girls are VERY cute... ...
Originally posted by sweetreyes Has anyone read both the manga and seen the series DVDs/Tapes. If you have can you tell me if they coinside with one another. You know the series doen't leave anything out and vice versa!!!
I've read 7 of the 8 manga volumes, and I've watched the 25-episode series and the Christmas movie. The events don't happen at the same time, and there are secondary characters from the anime that don't show up in the manga. The manga is more detailed, and has a more organized story than its animated counterpart. Even so, the relationship between the characters are the same in both formats.

Gundam, only ONE of MANY television Gundam Series. The Gundam series started in 1979 with Mobile Suit Gundam, a 50something-episode television series. Many movies and series were made after that, each with different characters. All the Gundam series took place in the same timeline, Universal Century, until G. After that, there have been Gundam series and movies from different timelines, including the original.
