Evanescence isn't goth rock, The Sisters of Mercy is goth rock.
Yes, I see you got that first, I was going to mention that along with stuff like The Cure. Evanesence is not Gothic Rock
I don't want to be considered an elitist or anything similar but it's really very hard to find any decent new goth bands, it pretty much went the way of punk.
Well if you are happening to look for some good goth bands, I do suggest the ones I mentioned to you as well. They are really worth checking out. Oh and Morbid Angel666 I really like the bands you listed there, awesome stuff. But they aren't gothic in any one way either.

I don't want to sound rude or get into a debate of any sort, but the people who said Slipknot.. They aren't gothic, they never were and never. will be. Neither are Shadows Fall, Mastadon, Caol Chamber, Kittie, Otep, Evanesence, Korn or Tool. I don't mean to sound like an elitist either, but go and do some research honestly, you'll find out some very neat things about what "Gothic Metal" is and isn't.

A distance in my eyes, With burdens underlined. Formulas form of sight and What I see in hymns of night Come to me, with chilled and waned Waves of shrouded mist, Gentle touch and I seem to kiss The portrait of life upon the main; we wished. Upon the crowded stars, Gliding hear in space, Upon natures scars And nothing has replaced The feeling deep inside Of floating nothingness. Wrap a shall of darkness around me So I can reminisce In Silence. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Silk raven hair, swathed in the simmering moonlight A life I am now ensnared too, in the flickering of night Beckoned on before the strike of dawn, did she call And their did I see her, a white swan, upon crimson .....................................Velvet darkness enthralled. I crouched on my knees and peered on among the brush And entangled in divine ease, did I now continue on, hush, A silence swarmed amongst the trees, it swallowed me And my aura, entranced in what was, this shivering beauty ................................................Here I felt what was to be. Eons and countless untold years passed all me by and by, And what fell in front of me, cast upon the reflection, whereby The mirrors of untold fate had let me cross her crimson path. I threw myself for her, for in love had we been, a life of untold And pleasure and sin and deafening sounds had not been contraband. .....................................And so for our paths, had been lit with gold. Auburn eyes, Iced and sweet lips, blue is all that beauty Drabbed in clothes and beyond that of sweet delusion. Like the nectar flowing from life and here upon the night And beyond, was I to find myself with her and the darkness now white. ...................................Never to be snow-blind so I could see with sight. Comments, criticisms , ect, are welcomed.

Good goth metal? Cradle of Filth, absolute first choice in this genre. Though my personal favorite album out of their like 20 releases would have to be Vempire, but I suggest picking up Lovecraft & Witch Hearts, it showcases their music throughout their career. Except for there latest two releases, Damnation and A Day and Nymphetamine. As for recommendations for other good gothic metal bands, try out these. Entwine To/Die/For Lullacry Charon Moonspell (Newer stuff for these guys, older stuff was considered Black Metal. My absolute favorite band in this genre) Paradise Lost (Check out their Symbol of Life Album, their older stuff I don't think you would enjoy as much.) Type O Negative Chalice Darkwell Devil doll Trail of Tears Old Theatre of Tragedy From Autumn to Ashes Leave's Eye Penumbra That should keep you plenty busy for awhile, have fun with that list. there are some pretty good bands out there as well that I fail to remember right now

I listen to Japanese music, but, most of it's incredibly rare and or amazingly hard to find considering that the Genre is Black Metal. I didn't even think any Black Metal Japanese bands existed for the longest time until I found the band Sigh and Sabbat. Currently my favorite Japanese song is Sigh - Infernal Cries and Sabbat - Demonic Serenade. Both bands though have.. some very well interesting themes.Sabbat more so though.

Here is a banner that should be much easier to make then the last one I requested, so if someone could that would be great. Here are the pics, oh and make it smaller then the one I have in my sig. http://www.thyprimordial.com/pictures/prim7.jpg http://www.thyprimordial.com/pictures/prim1.jpg http://www.thyprimordial.com/pictures/new2.jpg http://www.thyprimordial.com/pictures/new1.jpg http://www.thyprimordial.com/pictures/prim6.jpg Any of these can be used and I would like it to say Thy Primordial on the banner somewhere, an older or just neat style of text would be cool to have. That's about it, hopefully someone can make it.

Well, since I saw this I'll reply, first of all, I've listened to the whole album already it's amazing. Very symphonic, very great, and they've also taken another direction with their music. Their track Swansong For A Raven, the sequel to Her Ghost In The Fog is amazing. I enjoy listening to the band a lot.. but, Cradle of Filth, is absolutely nothing close to Black Metal in any way, shape, or form. It just what the media has said, thus everybody just assumed that, that's what they are. Black Metal is music that far suprasses Cradle of Filth, in it's chaotic style, even when it's Symphonic Black Metal. Cradle of Filth, in it's demo days were death metal to most people.. and after that they went on to do a weird hybrid of a few different genres meshed together thus creating their own. They are unique band, but not even close to being Black Metal in any single one way. If you want to know real black metal.. then just ask, but I don't think you'll enjoy it at all. Though I do recommend people this album when it hits stores, because it's much different from their previous releases.

Well first of, thanks to whoever decides to make this banner. Ok so, I would like the banner to be smaller then the one I have currently, but not by to much and for it to say Aes Dana on it. It's another band banner, as you can tell, so that's really about it, oh and I would like someone who is pretty decent at making banners like the last person if that isn't to much trouble. Please and thank you once again ^^ Ok here are the pictures. Use whichever ones you want, they were pretty hard to find though, so hopefully some of them can blend well together. I don't know how hard this may be to work with. Anyways thanks once again to whoever makes this banner. Edit: Updated for new picture formats

I personally do not listen to Evanescence, as stated before there are much more talented bands out there with a similar style, as some of the ones that have already been mentioned in this topic I wont bother mentioning them again. But all in allI don't truly like those bands either. Most bands with women singing in it don't appeal to me, most, not all there are a few I enjoy now and then. But with the type of music I listen to it's quite rare to find any female vocalists. As for hating them, I don't, I don't hate music, I just choose to not listen to it instead of bashing it.

Robert Smith of The Cure; Lyrics? When it comes ot Robert Smith, he can write the most amazing lyrics, it's like setting the most amazing poetry to the most amazing music. Especially when comparing this statement to the songs of the album Pornography.
A hand in my mouth A life spills into the flowers We all look so perfect As we all fall down In an electric glare The old man cracks with age She found his last picture In the ashes of the fire An image of the queen Echoes round the sweating bed Sour yellow sounds inside my head In books And films And in life And in heaven The sound of slaughter As your body turns The Cure - Pornography
Danni Filth of Cradle of Filth; Rhyming is this mans gift, he can use some of the most amazing words, and he can hide many alternate meanings within his music. He keeps his lyrics incredibly dark of course, especially because of the type of music that he plays. All of his songs tell a story, a twisted, demented sick story, but a story none the less. Just an amazing Lyricists. An Example of this
The Moon, she hangs like a cruel portrait soft winds whisper the bidding of trees as this tragedy starts with a shattered glass heart and the Midnightmare trampling of dreams But no, no tears please Fear and pain may accompany Death But it is desire that shepherds it's certainty as We shall see..." She was divinity's creature That kissed in cold mirrors A Queen of Snow Far beyond compare Lips attuned to symmetry Sought Her everywhere Dark liqoured eyes An Arabian nightmare... Cradle of Filth - Her Ghost In The Fog
And My Last Favorite Lyricists Trent Reznor of Nine Inch Nails; This choice is a little different, he is one of my favorite because of how much more simplistic his style is, and yet it still hits you right in the face, some of his songs are quite astounding to listen to, especially of his album "The Fragile". Also, his song "The Great Below" is just amazing when being played live on vocals and instruments.
ocean pulls me close and whispers in my ear the destiny I've chose all becoming clear the currents have their say the time is drawing near washes me away makes me disappear I descend from grace in arms of undertow I will take my place in the geat below Nine Inch Nails - The Great Below
Those are really my current favorite for lyrics that is. But Nine Inch Nails really isn't on my top ten favorite bands list anymore oddly enough, though they are still good.
Firstly, I would just like to say... Wow. That having been said, onto the critique (or lack of said critique) and praise. Critique: Ok, I couldnt find anything here, and I would have to search for 10 minutes to find anything out of place ^_^
Thanks, glad you liked it
Praise: 1.) I love how you use words that I personally dont see very often. Words such as incognito really inhance the piece, and the words you used gave it an almost gothic style. Thats the closest style I can think of off the top of my head. Very elegant.
I guess that would be a correct assumption, for the "Gothic" style, though I don't prefer labels, but I find the words to be quite interesting thus why I use it.
2.) This seems like something 'Cradle of Filth' would sing, and as such I can follow it with a tune. I think if it had a rhyming pattern it would be easier to 'picture' (for lack of better words) the tune. But thats something totally not needed, as poetry doesnt have to rhyme.
I'm assuming this is in reference to "Morbid Fantasies of Subsequence" if it is so, then yes it does doesn't it? I think it's because of me listening to Cradle and Bathory while writting this song.
3.) I love the piece from 'We're all gone' where it says:
I'm standing in the mist, Standing in the rain Standing in the anger Standing in the hate.
and I dont really know why. It just brings shivers up my spine, which is a good thing in my books.
Yes it is a good thing, I'm glad you enjoyed it. I've done that with a few of my poems to people actually.
Summary: Very close to perfect from my view. Maybe somebody else can critique it more then I, as all I gave was praise ^_^.
Thank you very much, I'm am looking for critique though to make my poems better, but praise is always welcome. Oh by the way, I'm a guy to clarify that.

Writing Throw a little more gasoline on the fire.
Amorphous replied to Raiha's topic in Creative Works
I really enjoyed reading those poems; I'd have say "From Me" and "Enforced Silence" were quite my favorite by far, though the others were fantastic. Though I'm not sure if you?re looking for constructive criticism (even though I wouldn't be able to find any anyways) on these or just the praise of some really good poems that deserve it. -
Hopefully I will get some replies this time. Were All Gone Auspicious hearts caught in the night, Burning like fire as the rain collides. Nearing are the footsteps of a stranger As I hear the voice you fake. You?re calling on me, burning this way. Waters crawling up me I'm drowning in your sound. Your happy you can love, but someone's There, you need to catch that hate. Bleeding, I'm altering the rain, Prayers calling for someone else's pain. You?re ripping my heart out, You?re tearing my soul away, You sold me out. You aren't screaming at me You?re screaming at the agony. I'm the translucent man you knew Soaking in the cold blooming dew. I'm envying the reality you see The cold rains pale fatigue It's burning me. My soul is drowning in the sea. There's nothing more I can see. Emerald cold and blue Those eyes they're staring back at me I'm stuck in this, stuck in new. I'm not here anymore. Nothings Staying, bleeding rain, anger aching. I'm standing in the mist, Standing in the rain Standing in the anger Standing in the hate. Stop screaming at me, Stop screaming, I'm not going to make it. I feel the pain; oh I'm just waiting For you to end it, the current is flowing Through me, I'm not sure what it's doing I can't feel it anymore; it's gone it's gone Your gone, were all gone. The Doors Chattered Upon The Wind Three Rightful places 'neath the earth rack up the winds and screech of dirge Lunging against the bark of that bare grown trees Delicate up in the sky where incognito weeps. And I feel the grapes upon the tattered vineyard Broken like the clattering graveyard gates Light breaks upon that subtle courtyard Knowing the contemplation of as skewed hate And those broken doors in the field rattle Those doors that chatter upon the wind Feeling the knotting in your grave side cradle And realizing the plight of hell's reign within So speaketh the forest you doth here Lying to you in the swayest form of seer Where the bones lie on the wayward An ebon dart of darkness pace it's slight of card These all lie before you as the doors of 'neath Writing in a passage to tend you and wreathe Your neck, yourself upon the darker of forests The sullen of plains The cradle of graveyards that lay within And to quote the poet. "Nevermore" Shall I lay in my death bed, but always ?neath the earths floor. Untitled As I draw my final breath I hear the church walls hymn Singing like a snow white dove upon death You lay your hand upon my caskets rim I draw thine breath of mine A sensation that masses hear through time A violin course rings like that for signs That love she feels, her hand so kind And she knows I shall never rise Though it will close, my eyes. I feel the sadness swell to stains For you my blood will lay, Forever you in saddened pain. I know those tears wont die For many pillars line the years, Though I rest in the translucent sky An hour did fled, she kept, I reflected in golden mirrors. I draw the final breath upon my coffins cedar lid Watching my flesh drawn hands weep Her name into sculptured frost. Then I seeped Into silence for all eternity that ever shall forbid Morbid Fantasies of Subsequence Silence careens in the darkness and my empty life; Where my eyes see through. Dark hues beyond the velvet curtain of the night Deep seated; the translucent moon. Heirs seated upon the throne Of Tyranny, where I see. Brought from depths un-atoned Benighted upon the sea. Eyes quiver, hands they shake; My blood it does run. Upon the imperialistic wake Of Sinking from the sun. Turned away from the clattering gates. Where my graveyard sits. Hallowed tombstones, dense macabre negates; Screaming howls from the pit. Ebony stench, quailing from austere sights. Offers in scowling flesh Under weights of the draconis talons blight. Thirst under angst pressed To the stench of the coiling of a tempest night. Crescendo's eyes are musically under towed. A hymn of dark seed angels. Archangel Gabriel is cobbed in barbwire head to toe, Wreathed and forever strangled. Necrologies wreathed in bathory terrors Grief wrapped in a shall. Slithering tongues belting out the ire of error. Perpetually overhauled. Bleeding from my wounded shell. Astral nightshade in comparison pales. At night under the dark moon cell Grayish stench of camphor and my morbid tales. The Lake of Glass Reflection Hording at the pale portrait, Severing deep at porcelain mirrors, My deception, the liquid that bestows, The water drawing my own lifeless echo. The heart is beating, soulless burning. Pounding at it, deepened fists Screaming below the lake of glass. Splitting the cracks of relapse. Screaming desperate cries As I watch my own suicide My liquid flowing, needled crying For it is dripping the aura of life away. I'm seeping deep, the wounds of blood The heir of nothing, this lake of glass. I'm seared in moonlight shadows Of the frozen lake, of sweet delicacy. My blood pours out and I can see it all Slipping away. My heart is crushing As I sit back in my turquoise cage. I'm drowning in the lake of glass reflection. I call from the other side, where the Water flows, you standing above Where the liquids are soothing still. Emerald tears fall from the heavens The calm of the whipping deception. Lashing back and forth, in the Pale winter moonlight I'm drowning in the lake, calm and breathless as could be.

I quite look forward to this anime, it looks very appealing, as to when I get to downloading it, is when I've watched everything in Hunter X Hunter, I'm currently on the 3rd OVA of that, so It wont be to long hopefully. It looks very promising, but how come the download is not working on Anime-Kraze or am missing something? I mean there is no link to download though I have bittorrent.

Request A New banner would be cool (pics included)
Amorphous replied to Amorphous's topic in Creative Works
That's awesome, it really is. Thank you for this ^^ but before I use it, I do want to see if anyone else could take a shot at making this banner I just like variety. But otherwise, I really like it! Most likely will be using it -
Ok, I would like a new banner to be made, it would be great if someone could try and make me a banner with these pictures, shouldn't be to hard. But I don't know that much about banner making. So anyways, here are the pics first.(Oh Pics can be big, so I'll just give URL links for them) http://www.darkthrone.at/images/hunger.jpg http://metalrules.no.sapo.pt/bandas/imagens_bandas/darkthrone_foto1.jpg http://www.metalprovider.com/darklyrics/logos/logo-darkthrone.jpg http://www.scream.no/magazine/scr44/bilder44/darkthrone.gif http://metalartwork.free.fr/images/pochettes2/tailleoriginale2/big1/Darkthrone_-_total_death.jpg I figure that's a decent amount I can find more if requested easily though. So anyways now on with the specifications. I want the banner somewhere on there to say "Darkthrone" and the widthand height to be something like this banner but a bit bigger. Oh I'm not advertising or anything either, I just don't have any other banners this size to really show for an example. >> So yeah thanks to whoever can do this banner in advance!

Musical genres? I listen to as currently, Gothic Metal, Gothic Rock, Black Metal, Death Metal, Doom Metal, Pagan Metal, Viking Metal, Power Metal, Progressive Metal, Symphonic Black Metal, Sludge Metal, Sludgecore, Neo Classical Metal, Melodic Death Metal, Classical Metal, Drone, Industrial Metal, Industrial Rock, Classic Rock, Grunge, and Alternative Rock. I don't download music of Kazaa, infact I really don't like downloading music for free, but currently it's my only source to listen to decent music. The bands I listen to deserve the money, but I can't buy these type of albums anywhere near me. I plan on buying the music eventually, if I can ever find it.

My predictions are the same as Radishman at this point. Orton beats Edge. Think about it, you may not like Orton, but he is a damn good wrestler, he probably won?t loose it until most likely Summer Slam. La Rez and Eugene and Ric Flair, winner. La Rez gets the win, it doesn't make sense that Ric Flair and Eugene would win. Even though Eugene rules. Jericho over Batista. Come on, if Jericho looses that would be kind of pointless. Kane destroys Hardy, I mean for the most part it's a no disqualifications match. Kane won the last one like that and he seems to win those types of matches anyways. I like Kane and Hardy, but I think they are pushing Kane for this one, unless Lita interferes. Benoit > Triple H, I don't see Benoit loosing to him yet or at all.

One of the creepiest songs lyrics wise that I can think of the top of my head at this current moment would have to be Cradle of Filth's song. Her Ghost In The Fog. The story begins like this, everyone accuses this women of being a witch and her and her husband have to deal with the fact of other people accusing her all the time because this story was set back in Medieval times and it hasn't gotten to the point of where she has been executed or anything she still lives a free life. But one night she's out while it's snowing in the forest and five men from the town, well this part is a little graphic so I will put it in a spoiler thing.
They basically, raped and killed her
leaving her there in the snow to be found. Now her husband found her there dead, lying on the cold white snow and he knew had to exact vengeance on the ones who had committed this heinous crime. So, one Sunday morning when everyone was at church he locked the doors, locking everyone into the church without them knowing at that point, and he set fire to the church killing every single one of them. Some key stanzas to this song are That fateful Eve when... The trees stank of sunset and camphor Their lanterns chased phantoms and threw An imquisitive glance, like the shadows they cast On my love picking rue by the light of the moon ----------------------------------------------------------------- Dawn discovered Her there Beneath the Cedar's stare Silk dress torn, Her raven hair Flown to gown Her beauty bared Was starred with frost, I knew Her lost I wept 'til tears crept back to prayer ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Then this I screamed: "Come back to Me I was born in love with thee So why should fate stand inbetween?" ---------------------------------------------------------------------- And so for Her... The breeze stank of sunset and camphor My lantern chased Her phantom and blew Their Chapel ablaze and all locked in to a pain Best reserved for judgement that their bible construed... Putting reason to flight Or to flame unashamed I swept form cries Mesmerized By the taffeta Ley Or Her hips that held sway Over all those at bay Save a mist on the rise A final blessing to hide Her ghost in the fog So yeah, this song is on my Creepy list for songs.
Whoa taht is a lot of abbreviations.... Hell in a cell? Is taht two men or a guy and some girls in bikinis? its probably not girls in bikinis, and thats why wrestling is kinda wierd... two guys go through hell in a cell together wearing...spandex?? Not my thing. But since its yours, what are your predictions on the "victor" of the "match"?
It's not that many abbreviations.. HBK stands for Heart Break Kid and HHH.. just is triple H.. I'm not actually sure if there is an abbreviation for all those H?s. Hell in Cell? It's basically, where two men beat the hell out of each other until one person wins... >_> Though it?s not like all other matches are like this, the thing with this match is there is one hell of a big steel cage that is set around the regular ring and you can climb atop of it and beat people up there and throw them of how ever high of a cage it is. I?m still new too these type of matches. I hopefully am getting the basic overveiw of it though right? >> Anyways. Chris Benoit>Kane, Shelton Benjamin and Randy Orton could go either way and the same with HHH and HBK. (Though in my own opinion, HHH will win as much AS I don't want him too, because for some odd reason I have this theory that since HBK asked for this match he'll loose because just look at the trend with Foly and Randy. Foly asked for the match and he lost and there have been a few others as well that have been like that.) and Eddie Guerro>John Bradshaw Layfeild, not that I care for Smackdown at all.

VERY BIG ANNOYING BOLD FACE WARNING;This Genre of Music... is quite, heavy and some of the lyrics are offensive to people.. just trust me on that even though you can't understand what most of them are saying and I'm not sure of how this topic will effect people being here. OH AND I don't want a discussion on what religion is right and wrong or how bad satanism is in this thread at all. Otherwise I'll have it immediately closed because it's not what it's here for. This is just for people who listen to Black Metal in general and for them to express their veiws on their favorite bands that have sprouted from this genre of music.
Black metal is a subgenre of heavy metal music. Black metal generally consists of heavily distorted, extremely fast guitar playing, screamed vocals, and fast drumming. The genre makes extensive use of repetition, with some songs being quite simple musically. An abraded, very low-fidelity recording style is common to the early albums associated with the genre. Also common are overtly Satanic lyrics which blaspheme against Christianity, as well as other occult themes. A distinct feature of the early bands' image was the use of corpse paint, a special kind of black and white make-up which emphasized their demonic appearance. There has been some concordance in recent years between the black metal sub culture and right-wing nationalist movements in some countries. The progenitors of modern black metal are bands like Celtic Frost, Mercyful Fate, Bathory, and Venom. The movement can be seen in its mature form with the recordings of Bathory in the late 1980s and early 1990s. Black metal congealed in its current form through the influence of Norwegian bands such as Darkthrone, Carpathian Forest, Burzum, Mayhem, Immortal and Emperor, who began with the earlier style and introduced elements from mainstream heavy metal, classical music and hardcore punk and popularized the style to a growing underground audience. Their influence is most apparent in the satanic imagery, blasphemous lyrics and occult themes.
First of all, I'd like to de-spell a few myths on this particular genre of music. A lot of these bands are considered satanic and blasphemous to the Christian religion. But it's not true for many of the bands that reside in the Scandinavian countries. Most actually sing of their own Nordic Religions and I use Nordic in wide spread generality and thus it's why we have sub-genres like Viking and Pagan Metal. Now there are some that sing about Satanism and such, but that's why we have so many people believing that this genre is made up of these types of bands alone and they try to make themselves known for mostly shock value. But these bands in general that sing of Satanism are just not worth listening to at all. I can also think of some bands that just really make fun of the Christian religion. Example "Cradle of Filth"; Not in the their lyrics but just in general. Dani Filth the lead singer of Cradle of Filth I believe, believes in ?The Powers That Be.? I can?t say that for sure, but he?s not a Satanist. The occult themes in general though are not left out in black metal lyrics. Anyways the whole genre of music is quite complex and has over the years broken down into many Sub Genres. My favorites include, Viking Metal;
Viking metal is a sub-genre of Black metal music. Some leaders in the genre are Enslaved, Vintersorg, Otyg, Borknagar, Amon Amarth, Bathory, Einherjer, Mithotyn, Thyrfing, Ensiferum, Falkenbach and Finntroll. The lyrical content of the songs usually talks about Norse Mythology, Paganism, Vikings, and Christian oppression of the Norse Pagan religion. Arrangements are usually more complex than the somewhat simple early black metal that originated in Norway in the early 1990s, incorporating extensive acoustic and folk passages
Symphonic Black Metal;
Symphonic Black Metal has the same components as Melodic Black Metal but a lot more orchestral pieces, mostly during the entire length of the song, mixed with the Black Metal element. This sub-genre of Black Metal has gained much criticism from Black Metal purists who argue that it is a watered down version of the real thing. The two albums which defined the sub-genre are generally agreed upon to be Cradle of Filth's Cruelty And The Beast and Emperor's In The Nightside Eclipse.
Troll Metal;
There are three important bands: Mortiis, Finntroll, and Arckanum. Whilst serving as a good genre for these bands to expand their musical style, they usually try to stay close to their usual lyrics. It is for the aforementioned reason that the three major bands sound so different: Mortiis, with a Medieval Ambient sound (no longer as current); Arckanum, with a pretty simple Black Metal sound, only with Trollish lyrics; and Finntroll with a Black Metal/Polka mix.
Folk Metal;
Folk metal is a sub-genre of black metal and is, quite simply, folk music mixed with black metal. The two biggest bands in this sub-genre are Skyclad and Waylander (also pioneers of an other sub-genre of black metal, Celtic metal).
and Pagan Metal. Which I really don't have a definition for But a band to check out is Graveland. (Note; this band is blasphemous to Christian Religion in some ways >>) Now as for my favorite black metal bands, there is a long list and I don't really feel like describing to as why I like each one. But here is a list in general of what I listen too. Burzum, Cradle of Filth, Finntroll, Bal-Sagoth, Vintersorg, Graveland, Bathory, Emperor, Darkthrone, and so on. It just ranges in so much different sub-genres that I couldn't possibly name all the bands I listen too, I just know a lot of them are good. So What I am asking the Public, is, or at least people who listen to black metal, what is your favorite bands and why?

Thank you very much for that banner and the avatar it looks great as so does everyone elses banner.

I really can't decide between them, so I'll just use them all. Thank you all for making these banners. I keep forgetting to ask this every time.. but if anybody reads this again can you make me a matching avatar?

Well, to tell you the truth I personally try to find depressing songs to listen too. Just because they in essence seem to turn out quite amazing and it's why I love them so much, they just appeal to me more. Though out of all the ones I've found only a few make me depressed in some way, not all out sad though. These are the top 5 depressing songs of mine in descending order. 5. Johnny Cash - Hurt; The cover to the Nine Inch Nails song. Yes I admit Trent Reznor did an amazing job with this song there's no hiding that. But in my own personal veiw, it should have been an old, old man ready for when his time struck that should be singing it and that's what we got. In a way it's very heavy song, the video just adds to this argument. It actually makes it much more sad and the reminiscence of his life in the background of the song just grabs you until the end of the song. It's really a sad song. 4. Ozzy Osbourne - Dreamer; I don't listen to Ozzy as much as I did a few years ago, I mean he's great but the only song that's caught my attention of right now is Dreamer. The lyrics just hit me deep and the whole way the track is played just is really deep and depressing to me. There isn't much else to say, but it's a great song. 3. My Dying Bride - For My Fallen Angel; This song portrays the death of a mans beloved. It's cliche the idea at first I admit, but the whole image and lyrics that are reperesented in this song are just meticulously slow and an abundance of depressing chords played through out. The band is in the doom-metal genre so I expected no less though, especially when the violins started playing. 2. The Cure - Pornography; Now here is an unique well written song by Robert Smith. This one I can say is truly one of his depressing songs. Infact the whole album as a whole was a depressing album. There was not one song that was happy in any way and I think for some of the lyrics may of been a little ahead of their time. Though I'm basing that of assumption considering I wasn't alive in that time era. It's very good cd and an amazing and sad song. Btw here was some of the lyrics from this song as an example. One more day like today and I'll kill you A desire for flesh And real blood I'll watch you drown in the shower Pushing my life through your open eyes 1. Glen Phillips - Back On My Feet; This song, this song right here just is amazingly well done and in my own opinion it is depressing. Yet the all around lyrics don't suggest it as being a sad song. It's still played that way though and it is about a man that has been beating down, not litterally but by life, and then picking himself right back up. The first time I heard it I was amazed by it, but not everyone will think the same way, some may find it boring even. It really, REALLY depends on what type of music you listen too. But this isn't Country though. It's the one song I really recommend downloading if you can out of all of these.
