1.
Originally posted by Desbreko Yeah, it's been February 9 ever since any release date was announced, I believe... And it's also been said a couple times in this thread, lol. Maybe you missed it.
Awww ****--I guess I did. Well, I haven't had the time to search all over the Internet for release dates, so I guess I'm a bit behind. No big, I'm just glad it's coming sooner than I thought. I've been feeling a bit out of it lately. I haven't rented any new games or played any, because either the video store doesn't have it, it's being rented out, or there's just nothing that grabs my interest. A mix of all three, basically. :( Really, I need to be rejuvenated. Hopefully, the new Metroid will lighten everything up a bit. But I just...hate waiting! And to get MZM, I'll probably have to go to the next town over, cuz all our WalMart usually sells is ****in' shovelware. I like the new weapons in MZM. And didn't they have an unlockable NES Metroid when you beat Metroid Prime? Now they're including it in MZM? Maybe they're running out of ideas. And for the release date, I wasn't sure from the beginning, but I was more certain from the start it was to be released around February and no later. It's just that recently my mind's been on March-released games and it's totally aggravating me, considering they're games I've been anticipating since fall (God, that seems such a long time ago). And not being able to get MZM until March doesn't seem to be helping much (tax-refunds). :twitch:
  2.
Originally posted by roymund Most irratating moment? Metroid Prime... Right After the furnace room not being able to figure out what to do! I kept thinking there was something I was missing. :angry2: :angry2: Most Aggrivating moment? FF1.... Final Boss Chaos... He attacked 5 times in a row and killed three of my charecters and put the last one on his knees at 13 HP from 8914 HP !!!!!! Then he healed himself back to full!!!! :flaming:
Oooooh. Sadly, I've been through that same situation too many times. Any old RPG has cheap-*** bosses. Maybe to make up for the graphics? That reminds me of Mega Man bosses, too. I recently played MMX4 and couldn't even beat one boss. I had few problems with the stages (although they were too short for my taste), but when ***-kicking time rolled around at the end of each stage, I had at least three lives left and my my right thumb was starting to aggravate me. Despite the fact I paused the game for some R&R, I wasn't prepped enough for the bosses. Half their attacks are unavoidable unless you can ****in' hover or fly around in the air. :( And their life meters take up half the height of the TV screen, while mine (I usually play as Zero) only takes up about a quarter of that, maybe less...I mean, that's ridiculous! Not to mention most of those attacks take off a 1/5 of my life meter. Some people justify it as "challenging." I justify it as retarded as all hell, not to mention as cheap as any boss can get. I enjoy challenges. That's why I like the Mega Man games, but when it comes down to this, it's not fun at all. Even when I've already mapped out their patterns of movement and know when they'll change (like, when they're life meter barely falls below half), I can't help but get hit and die by one of their insane attacks that I can't avoid, usually because there's no wall to wall-jump over them and my own life meter it almost gone anyways. Then there's that Owl boss. I gave up on the second try. Fortunately, in the MM games, you can play through all the "main" stages at any time, which is fun. Well, except for Mega and Bass. Then there's Vexx. I die, I have to get everything all over again. I return to the level, everything I've already gotten is still there. Wouldn't that create a paradox? :cross: It's like I'm reliving Banjo-Kazooie all over again!
  3. Okay, alright. I got March's issue of NP yesterday, and it is a remake. Oh, well! :whoops: I just wanted to make sure. I haven't read all of the issue yesterday (busy), but I read it this morning. I'm sure it's being released in March. Dammit, I hate waiting. Well, NP has already started on the maps and strategies, so I'm assuming March. Geez...this's driving me insane. I'll have to wait for Pokemon Coliseum and Harvest Moon, too! Oh, well. At least I can get FFX-2 when I get the chance. And the screens for Kraid are awesome. I like the art they have in the mag of Samus.
  4. *starts hugging people* Sweet! I completely forgot there was an Excel Saga thread around! I've only seen about five or six episodes. My friend has the series (or most of it), but I'm planning on buying the whole thing myself sometime this summer! Everytime I watch the series, I can't help busting my gut over the stupid things Excel does and the characters, like the floating macrocosm and Nabeshin, doing all sorts of random crap. The scene that burns vividly in my mind still would have to be the first episode, where she's a crossing guard and makes the cars dance around the street and spin on their bumpers. And then there's the guy with the blond drainage-pipe hair, who looks as if he could knock out everyone within the vicinity with just a twitch of his head. This's such a great series! It's my favorite anime, and I think it's funnier than Furi Kuri. Whoever hasn't seen it is missing out.
  5.
Originally posted by Shinmaru For those who still might be unaware, Metroid: Zero Mission is a remake of the original Metroid for the NES.
Didn't NP say it was a prequel to the series? :whoops: I guess that's maybe why the title has the suffix Zero Mission. But if it ends up as a rehash, I'm gonna be so pissed. I'm kinda getting sick of "replaying" old games. Oh, the game's enhanced...*silence*...ri--ight. And besides, if it is a rehash of the first one, then the title should just simply be "Metroid." That was the name of the original. Oh, so what if it doesn't sound cool? It's still a Metroid game! If they want a different title, add it to a different game! Regardless, I'm still buying it. :shifty: Spring is my game season, so in addition to MZM, I'm also getting FFX-2 and the GCN Harvest Moon game. As if I didn't have enough games already.......heh. The screens drove me totally banana bread, so now I'm more determined to nab it. But to be honest, Prime was good, but I still like Super Metroid better. Dagnabbit, gimme more Metroid!
  6. Well, everyone else already took the words right outta my mouth for OoT and Chrono. However, I can't help but mention Mr. Iwadare's game music (Grandia/Lunar). Those're the only games whose tunes that are catchy enough that actually I hum to myself, usually when no one's around. :cross: And I can play most of them on my acoustic and soprano recorder. The music also puts me in a bouncy mood. Nintendowise, it would have to be the SNES Mega Man games. Each stage brings back musical nostalgia of the early 90's, when I was in grade school and the SNES and Sega were hot stuff. I also like Mega Man and Bass's stage music. I've always liked Capcom's side-scrollers. ^_^
  7. Whoopsies! Sorry if I haven't been contributing! :whoops: Wow! I can relate to all you guys! I don't see how Sem can stand going through all that dialogue in Animal Crossing :cross: all I find myself doing is "B button, B button, B button" with the occasional "A button" for confirmation. *@#$!!! Well, another annoyance is the SLOWNESS in the Final Fantasy remakes (Chronicles, etc.) I'm sorry, but I don't like it when games take 5 full seconds to get to the MENU! And for multiplayer games, I can totally go on! In SSBM, my friend was Donkey Kong, and I was one of the Pokemon (forgot, it was, like, a year ago). He had 2-3 lives to spare, and I had ONE! He grabbed me, and kamikazied into the pit! ARGH!! Suckage! So, let me rant about Mario Sunshine! What I can't stand in that game is the game's layout isn't as fun as Mario 64. The everythingalmostlooksthesame-ness it has. All tropical (of course, I know why), but Mario games ar at best when you can go to different worlds! And every Episode, the area changes to what it was to begin with! It's annoying. You can't get Shines in any way you want to. It lacks the freedom I got when I played Mario 64. It's too...linear...for a new 3D Mario game. I mean, yeah, I like the challenges, but I hate the Red-Coin Hunts (it was fun in Mario 64, though)! Time limits??? C'MON here! That's an annoyance. The most frusterating thing about games are stupid time-limits. Grr.

    Mario Quiz

Super Mario Bros. 2!!! Shazam!! Q: What is the name of the Mario game where he flies around in time getting clues and stuff? (yes...a bit uncreative, but a question, nonetheless...)
  9. That's PT?? *thinks of Harry Meets Lloyd* Ahem-uherm! Definitely avatar #2. Banner? #4 hands down. Pair it with the above, and it somewhat gives you a look (not "evil," just proud of yourself) as if you had just created the perfect army of gamers to do your bidding. Okay, I'm not helping, aren't I? :cross:
  10.
Originally posted by Drix D'Zanth I can't say anything about me is organized. Like Charles, I abide the "don't clean my mess, you'll ruin the system", system.
Amen to that. Strangely enough, I get obsessive compulsive about being disorganized. I can't stand it when people mess with my clutter. Like Sem, I am organized with my games, though. For my SNES, I get a bottle of amonia, a damp cloth and get at it. For everything else, I just dust and wipe. All my Final Fantasy games (and I mean every one of them) are in numerical order. I'm against lending any of them out to my friends (in fear of smudges and scratches, particularly FFVII). I'm not too big on cords, though. The controllers, I "stretch" out the cord and set it on an elevated surface, away from harm. I try and buy as many "cartridge covers" for my NES and SNES games as I can find, to prevent unwanted dust. You should see our living room. I have gaming mags/Guides/papers scattered here and there (most are in a neat stack), random crap on the ottoman, and on the side tables of our sectional couch. My shelves is cluttered with all kinds of stuff. But hey, I have one shelf for each category: first, action figures. Second, gaming stuff/consoles. Third and fourth, whatever thingamagogs were on the floor. Then it comes to rooms, I live like a hamster. But I do hate having stuff on the floor, especially clothes. My sister is opposite. You'd figure she'd adopt the floor as her second bed or something. I always put dirty clothes either in our hamper or the laundry room. Whichever's closer. My bed's like a hamster's. A few clothes, a water bottle, my SP, books, a quilt, an afkin, about six stuffed animals, papers, four pillows, an issue of NP, a plastic cup, and I think an empty bottle of Starbucks. And most of this stuff's mashed against the wall. >_O, I'm comfortable with my habits. But I know some people that "look" their habits. Me? My friends sometimes say I look like a punk jogger, but that's it. I dunno if anyone would call that a "cluttered" look. 'o.O' In all, I'm one hell of a pack-rat.

    You.

Count yourselves as lucky as to furthering your knowledge to the Almighty Dark Serena! Hahahaaaa! *coughs* Moving on. First Name: Erica, meaning "strong ruler." Mwaha! Age: 18 Birthday: August 7, '85 Hair Color: Brown Style: Jenn Aniston-ish. And no, I don't go to the hairdresser. It just...happened. *points at sister* Eye Color: Brown with black pupils. The rest is white. Height: 5'7" Weight: 137 lbs. What I'm wearing right now: Plaid scarf, black duster, my sister's Gir shirt, red off-court Nikes with rainbow laces, dark blue glasses, dark blue socks, and dark gray jeans that're two sizes too big. Wardrobe: Personality: To-the-point, sometimes blunt, fast-talker-slow-thinker, not a biter but a kicker, throw food items at my friends' faces, corrective, gushing with ideas and imagination, get along with most people (I look down upon those that slap labels on themselves and draw lines), I never side with anybody unless I have a good reason, I laugh too much (you can never laugh too much, Erica, what're you thinking?) and I love making other people laugh too much, brutally honest and totally random. Mentally mature in terms of accepting responsibility with my own actions, I try to be reasonable with people, I take things literally. I pretty much have a head on my shoulders. Favorite Type of Music: Anything light-hearted or upbeat with a "lot of sound." Most music I hear that I love is just simply background music in video games (like Grandia II and Lunar), or commercials. I can't remember which ones, though. :( Favorite Band/Artist(s): Weezer, Evenescence, japanese composers, symphonies, Aerosmith, The Bangles, 'Creedance, Michael Jackson's 80's songs, Powerman 5000, Kim Wilde, Smashing Pumpkins, Devo, and the almighty Al Yankovich. Hobbies: SNES, RPGs, drawing half-*** comics (like my improvised Wang and Nut comic popular among my peers), doing all kinds of art (like cut-paste-from-magazine stuff/adding captions to National Geographic pictures and calling it art), writing (mostly typing) stories or scenarios, character designing, anime (well, yeah), video games, reading magazines, playing acoustic guitar/recorder/music sampler (still needs lots of practice), drawing (mediums: colored pencil, ink, pencil, cut-outs, all on black or white paper).... Favorite animals: KITTIES AND HAMSTERS!! EEEEEEE!!! Current pets: four cats (Suzy, Whiskers, Toonces and my cat, Neko), a hamster (former name was Kazutoshi, Kazu for short, that I named after the Japanese foreign exchange student in my school *drools* and now my hammy's name is Gichi) and two stupid goldfish. I hope I haven't traumatized you when I squealed. That's my weirdest feature: squealing. I can't help it! Honest to God! Whenever I see my cat or hamster, I can't help but hop and down and squeal their names! So, yeah. I make quite a character.
  12. Oh, man. The few times I've gagged on anything digestable were bad ones. First, this was sometime back in '02, I had digestive problems. I dunno if it was the flu or what, but my mom made me take this formula stuff that looked like a cup of soupy cat ****. It was called "indigestive formula" or something. I was so damned reluctant to take it. Well, I eventually did, after my mom simply said, "If you wanna stay the way your are, fine by me!" So I took it. I swear, my gut hitched, like, with every swallow. It was wicked stuff. It tasted so bad that I almost felt like crying, which is a rarity, especially when it comes to food. Well, now that problem's solved: my mom just ordered a bottle of the stuff only in capsules. Condensed fiber, I think. Well, it works like a charm, anyway. Another gross taste occurs is whenever I eat a salad that has lettuce in it (I love spinach salads so much more), and I happen to taste a leaf that reminds me of old, rancid tarp, or a shower curtain that needs washing. I spit it right out of my mouth. And the most killing flavor burned in my mind right now would have to be a piece of fish or game that was old. But it was wrapped in special paper and frozen, so it kept for a while, but the thing was, the date on it said 12/02. That's ****in' two years ago, and we had this stuff the other week! The fish tasted like dirt and grass. My mom said it was algae the fish ate. Ugh. And have you ever tasted stomach acid? Sick.

EDIT: In Sapphire/Ruby Version. :whoops:
  14. Check it out, y'all! Here's my completed Excel Saga banner! I would totally be grateful if anyone would care to hurl their comments at me! Whee! Oh, the joy of anime.
  15. This's got to be a ludicrous subject! And a way to let off some steam. I didn't know exactly where to start this thread, but since Nintendo's been around since I was born, I picked the Nintendo forum. And aside from having the best games around, Nintendo had also (and still does) at the same time ticked me off with just about every game I've played. And got me annoyed, too. I got this idea while playing Animal Crossing the other night. This topic ranges from the most difficult to the most TV-hurling moments you've ever faced in Nintendo. Some of the Most Frusterating Moments I've Faced -Getting through the dialogue in Animal Crossing. -The giant praying mantis bosses in Jetforce Gemini, and trying to defeat them with the dog. -Mario Sunshine itself. -Save Battery dying out on SNES cartridges. -Trying to beat A Link to the Past without dying, only to discover in the credits that I died once in in the first dungeon. -In any Rare game, time limits. -The Dodge 'Em-style Mine Cart bonus stages in Donkey Kong 64. -Someone saving over Final Fantasy data on the NES. That's about all I can think of now. I'd say the most irritating moment on this list would be Animal Crossing. They--won't--shut--up--!! And about Jetforce Gemini. I remember this clearly...it took me, literally, 10 tries before I finally beat them. 'Thing is, on the last try, my friend was with me. I guess friends can be good luck charms. Mario Sunshine. Not only are the stages repetitive, I get sick of restarting the stage in the Delfino Plaza. And the Manta Ray boss on the beach drives me insane. This game has received the worst language from me.
  16.
Originally posted by Desbreko Ganon is in The Legend of Zelda, Adventure of Link, A Link to the Past, Ocarina of Time, Oracle of Seasons, Oracle of Ages, and The Wind Waker. You don't don't fight him in AOL, however, since he only appears on the Game Over screen, and you only fight Ganon at the end of a linked OOS/OOA game. Still, even if you weren't counting AOL, or even OOS or OOA, he would still appear as a boss in more games than any other boss.
The word "appeared" was in the question, so I assumed Ganon. Well, whatever the case, maybe I should just ask on. Lemme see...I don't know if this question has been asked or not, it's more of a memory question than a brain-buster, but since it's morning, it's all I can think of... Name all the Inventory Items in Ocarina of Time. o.O; Ha! Such a creative question...well thought up *a-herm!* And please, no excessive information, or dark_serena will be forced to kick you in the head.
  17. My view on preps? I'll keep it simple. If they're gamers 24/7, then they're gonna have a hell of a time getting rid of me.
  18.
Originally posted by Semjaza Azazel There isn't even any word on the story yet... absolutely none. I don't know how people can make these conclusions. FF7 was 50 hours worth of blabber anyway.
Yeah...yeah, I totally agree with you, Sem. But I wasn't drawing a final conclusion there or anything, just basing my complaints on what I've seen so far. But I needn't complain anymore until I see more of this, or see the whole gong-hooted thing. And about the 'blabber.' I actually enjoy reading (dialogue or not), and I have no complaints regarding dialogue. However, it'd be great if actual voices accompanied the dialogue i.e. the Grandia series, and FFX, but it shouldn't disappear when the person's finished talking. Every once in while, during FFX, I had to pause the game in order to fully understand what they were talking about, then I'd unpause it and move on. RPGs usually are revolved around storytelling, right? FFVII was great example of this.

    Is it right?

"Translating" shouldn't be considered if it's foreign music. Just like the Greatest Hits Chrono Chross, they can just simply include the translated lyrics in the instruction book! I mean the lyrics for the "main" song, the Radical Dreamers, in case wondering what the hell I'm talking about. o_O; It's as easy as that. In that case, people that buy the game in other countries will know what the song means, and the song will remain in its original language. It makes sense to me. Also, the translators can translate the lyrics into the three most widely-spoken languages i.e. Spanish, English and French, for example, and include them in the instruction book.

A Link to the Past, check. Ocarina of Time, check. Windwaker, check. However, I don't remember officially having to defeat Ganon in the Oracle series, Link's Awakening, The Adventures of Link, and Majora's Mask, though. He appeared, I think, in The Adventures of Link, but I don't remember defeating him. But still, there's Gohma...
  21.
Originally posted by ARTommy ...but I enjoyed your last banner more.
That's my problem. I enjoy making banners, so I can never choose between them all, and each one I do I like a bit better than the last project. Y'know, practice makes perfect, and practicing what you learned is a good thing. It's also fun, too, to apply your knowledge and gain the same from others. Well, aside from going off-track like I just did, I contacted James on how to go about having a random banner. He hasn't responded yet, and I'm patiently waiting, of course. It's an interesting concept. Since I love being random, I'd like to try this out and use to my advantage. Anyways, I'm willing to accept corrections, like my first banner, except I keep forgetting to "renew" my Excel banner. I'll probably end up just re-doing it. Heheh..."dark_serena's First Banner Re-Mix..." ...I amuse myself too much.

Damn straight!! :faint: Even if it turns out "bad," it's not going to change VII. But seriously. This might be a good turning point; the staff for this movie is totally different, right? But since I am a fan of marathons, I'm extremely disappointed to discover this movie is only one hour long. ONE HOUR! Where's Tifa? Where's Yuffie? And more importantly, where's BARRET? All I saw so far is Sephiroth and Cloud dukin' it out, or something along those lines. Sounds boring. I'm just in it for the eye candy.

    Is it right?
Originally posted by James Geeze. It's one little sequence in FFX-2. Whether she sings in English or Japanese has absolutely no bearing on the game at all. Other than it being a case of "Ooo! Cool! She is singing in Japanese!" I don't see the complaint, really. As far as the "skimpy" outfits go...again, I don't see the complaint. Unless you're incredibly anal, why should you take issue with the costume design in the game? I've seen nothing so far that has made me gasp in shock and clutch a crucifix to my chest. Honestly, if you read the interviews with the creators, you'll see that the "female focus" is very much story-oriented. It makes sense to me. I mean, Wakka can run around wearing no shirt and other male characters in FFX can be dressed in a somewhat "skimpy" fashion, yet the same shouldn't or couldn't be true for females in FFX-2? Give me a break.
I couldn't've said it any better. That's exactly how I feel. "All-female roles" shouldn't be anymore surprising than the casts for the past BOF series. Insane, I tell you. I always get the impression that just because a female is the main character (or plural, pert. to FF X-2), people have to make an issue out of it and compare it to "Charlie's Angels"--it's not "girl power." I'm not a feminist, either. God forbid. Think about the cast for BOF II: a psychotic cat girl, a girl with bird wings, a blue-haired dragonian freak-boy, a womanizing monkey ex-soldier (you go, Sten!!), a walking plant...thing-person that's strangely effeminate and typically quiet and non-combatant, pretty much. Oh yeah, can't forget the "big clunky blacksmith," an oversized animal wielding a big-a** hammer. God, I can't even tell what the thing is! Pro-wrestler with a donkey head? And you people out there, who think an "all-female" cast is something to talk about, tell me if that's unusual or not. Of course, it's not, because the main character pretty much is, you guessed it, the blue-haired dragonian freak-boy. What my point is, the impression I'm getting is that people think it's all "girl power" just because the main characters don't sport hardly any muscle at all and don't throw their weight around like a 'leader' is expected to. And I can hear guys saying, "Oooh, what have we here? More digital goodness just for us!" (*still laughing at James*) and the girls saying, "Ohmigosh! Yay Charlies Angels! Whoo hoo! I never expected this in a game! Girls rule! Yay!" Seriously, people. Seriously. Take a chill pill. It's just a game. Breathe deep. I'm looking forward to this game, really, though! Even if it doesn't 'deserve' the Final Fantasy title, it's still a video game, right? Besides, other than Wakka (I already miss the 'ya?'), Rikku's the greatest. She was a bit underrated in FFX, based on my observations. And she didn't seem to 'fit in' with the game. It was like she was just an addition to the cast as a guardian and, well, that's pretty much all I saw. Yay, Wakka!
