1. I haven't dated anyone as of yet, let alone in an LDR. But that doesn't mean I can't be sensible about it. There's downsides and upsides to both situations, but to me there seems to be more downsides with LDR. That's not good. Why go through something as serious as a relationship with more downs than ups, rather than more ups than downs? It's not what's easiest, it's what's best for both people i.e. some couples even need time from each other, if y'know what I mean. It could help in the long run. Straighten things out. You don't learn to appreciate what the other person gives if they're there all the time, and eventually arguments arise, generally ones that scar. Even if there's forgiveness, I'd rather be with someone I don't end up arguing with all the time. But it does have to do with what kinda person you are. My best friend (or closest--I've known him for about 5.5 years and we've been through hell together) has a girlfriend who lives here in town (and she's gradding this year, while he gradded 2 years ago), and he moved for college/classes, about a couple hours away. Even though it doesn't seem far, he's the type of person who gets depressed when left alone for too long (even though he lives with his grandparents and has his cousins around). I know it may sound a bit insensitive, but me knowing him, he's a bit emotionally insecure. I just don't see why he'd pick someone 1.) still in high school, 2.) cannot be intimate enough for someone like him and 3.) they don't seem to really do things together whenever he comes to visit. No dates or anything, lol. They've started dating in February, and have been accquaintences for about 1.5 years. I didn't even really know her myself until they started going at it. 9_9 And they've even planned on marrying in about 5 years. -_o; His last relationship seemed based solely off of physical intimacy, and he WAS dating a freshman (while he was a senior), that he had only met her a couple weeks after she entered high school. So, I KNEW it wouldn't work out, but no one believed me until she dumped him about a year later. A few months after he got another relationship back up again, an LDR. If he's so dependant on physical contact, I just don't see why he's just doing this to himself, instead of meeting a girl at the school he goes to now, or within his town. Well, when someone's in love they don't really look past their own feelings. Period. All they think or care about is the other person, and no one else, or anything else. All they think is "We're strong--we'll do alright." I'm just basing this off observation. There's a difference between the initial joy of being someone that makes you feel good, and all that good stuff, whether it be LDR or not, and being with that same person for the next 60-70+ years of your life. Sounds like a plan, ne? Well, life isn't a fantasy. I know relationships aren't flawless, but that doesn't mean peeps should be encouraged to jump in headfirst, instead of footfirst. There's problems with being with someone too little, and being with someone too much (my friend's example). While LDR is good in a way where the relationship doesn't depend on romantic physical intimacy, because it wasn't there to begin with (well, if you met the person online or you decide to ask someone out you know personally after you leave town, and they're still in town and, in my own opinion, sounds like a senseless, spur-of-the-moment situation). Overall, I'd rather wait it out. If there's someone online I like, then there's someone offline I'd like even more. Because I accept the fact that there ARE temptations both offline and on (as Lix mentioned, and I totally agree), and I'm not about to run the risk of ruining an online/LDR deal just because I enjoy being with people rather than just type to each other and whatnot. And e-mail can be used for the "beyond" intimacy. And you don'tquite need to live outta town to IM each other, lol  I don't solely depend on my trust, though, I rather depend on how selfless the other person is, because if both people aren't giving to each other, and not really expect anything in return, then it won't work out, or it won't be as successful as it could and should be. Alright, I've blabbed enough, lol. X3 I hope this may have helped someone. :whoops:
  2. Ach mein gott...it feels like four years, but it has only been since January of '03 since I registered. I arrived as just dark_serena, and hung out in the Pokemon/game forums a lot, cause that was the year I started getting into Pokemon...and in March that year Pokemon Sapphire came out, and me and Crimson Spider dominated the "Rate My Team" thread. XD It evolved from merely posting our teams up and evaluating them, to in-depth strategies that seemed to confuse and repel people (such as EV training, etc.) because after a while, Metatron, CS, and me were pretty much the only ones in that thread, then Metatron vanished also. X3 But hey, we discussed what Pokemon was really all about: battling, lol. Oh, well. It was time well spent, anways. I learned a lot from that guy.
  3. Football Player: "It's a male, sir." Ref: "Alright, just making sure." *shrugs* ^^; EDIT: *resists huge urge to go ahead and put up a better picture* X-/
  4.
If I did hear about the Apocalypse before it happened I'd more than likely hold up my local videogame retailer and enjoy some virtual happiness until the big adios.
Well said, Kane. Well said. >:3 Except Wal-Mart wouldn't be a good choice, lol. I'd raid GameCrazy, since they over-frickin'-price the games. Payback! Well, I might leave a few bucks on the counter, lol. X3
  5. Haha. There's only 4 things that'd make me supremely happy-- 1.) Video games 2.) Making people laugh, and laughing in general. 3.) Knowing/finding out that someone I have feelings for has feelings for me, even if it ends up being temporary. :P 4.) Simply having someone to cuddle with.
  6. I wouldn't quite use popularity status to show value in something. Although I love Mario, I like Sonic even better. They both have their ups and downs, but I wouldn't quite say one IS better than the other--they're just different that's all Now, I don't really need to spend too much time working on a post to get my point across. I'm just gonna tell you what I think. Yes, 3D Mario games were always fun for me, I'm all for exploration. And I go nuts whenever I hear about a new Mario game. But I don't care about Sega and Nintendo's past, and comparing. I'm gonna look at the two of them NOW as I speak. And I'm gonna talk about Mario and Sonic as characters, not just games themselves. I think Mario is has a boring, space-cadet-type personality. Yeah, I do also think he's funny, but after a while I get bored with "save the Princess" heroism, and seems too innocent for a protaginist, but that just goes against my personal tastes, lol. I like Sonic as a character much better. I can't resist his spunk, and his spunk-themed games, and he even has a cool sidekick, Tails, who isn't even one of those irritating, idiotic, unnecessary cronies that you'd love to kick across the room. :3 (And Sonic's a pretty nice color, too, lol.) Even in terms of artwork, I prefer his 2D look over his 3D look any day. (But I think Mario looks just as good in 3D as 2D, but that's beside the point.) I agree with Box Hoy on everything else, lol. :3 For now, that's all I'm gonna add to the discussion. I'll come back later for the games. EDIT: Actually, I'm too lazy to talk about the games, lol--too much to talk about. James pretty much said it all, albeit I like Sonic games because they're just fast and fun. :whoops: If only they had excellent exporation elements, I'd consider Sonic game over Mario games pretty quickly, lol. :p
  7. GASP! I got it! Just change the thread title to Roadkill. Who would'a thunk it? o_- What is Amusing About the Subject? Just Bugs In General. Personally, I can't help but snicker and snort whenever we get back from a long road trip, and see the front of the car covered in a thin, grisly layer of insect leftovers. One time, I even saw a huge grasshopper halfway smashed into the front of the cartop carrier once we got back from Eastern Oregon. It was more sick than amusing, though. I may sound disgusting, and call me what you liek, but I love the smell of dead skunk. Honest to God. But I still feel a tinge of sadness when I see flattened fur on the road. T_T Dogs Among the Populous. I throw the blame almost entirely on their owners. It's so irresponsible, and puts dogs' lives on the line, when they let them run around without being on a leash, or in a fenced yard (not to mention effing annoying). Leashes are there for a reason. And I'd complain to my neighbors of they'd let their damn dogs run around in a yard/neighborhood without a fence or leash on. They can even put 'em on runs, too, if there's space. In all... ...I understand it when cats are run over, accidentally, etc. because they're independant animals by nature, and don't stay on leashes, etc. (and when I read that post about the pregnant cat, I nearly cried myself; cats are my favorite animal). I blame effing IDIOTS that refuse to slow down for some God-forsaken reason. BUT, dogs are different--all it takes is a stray squirrel and the dog can get itself killed. But I blame the owners, not the dogs' instinct. Although speeding fatheads can be blamed also, the owner shouldn't have allowed the dog to run loose in a residential area to begin with. Most of the dogs around here are only partially supervised, never on leashes, and hardly anyone in our neighborhood has a fenced yard--my mom has to shut our garage's back door so the damn dogs won't get into the garbage...and deprive our 18 year-old cat of all her food and water. >_
  8. Eh...I'm too laid back to care, lol. Just because I have an idea about what our purpose of living is, doesn't mean I have to care, lol. I choose to simply pop my back, stretch out, stand up, and do what needs to be done. I leave all the great achievements to the, well, great achievers. Doesn't mean I don't wanna do something koo myself. >:3 Once love, gaming, hand-drawn graphics, classical music, manga, art, and wholesome, nutritional food become obsolete, only then will I have realized life isn't worth living, lol. :3 I believe that only you yourself can truly know if your life is/has been worth living--no one can tell you, "You have a meaningless life," just because they don't like what you do, or think it's, well, not worth doing. Ach, I don't see why they would. I'd never find myself saying that to another; about as pointless as asking a dog why he pees on fire hydrants. I dunno if that's relevant. Bah, who cares...X3
  9. I'd have to go with Sir Auron on the issue, albeit I'm too lacking in brainpower to elaborate any further. :3 What I see myself doing when the Last Hour arrives is being surrounded by my games, playing peacefully and happily away (well, unless I'm playing Mario Sunshine, lol). At least I'd die entertained.
  10. (Post relevant to Des's post--didn't see Syk3 up there, lol). Yeah, kinda partially defeats the purpose, lol. :whoops: Well, I've got my new town now. Kinda late for the fish/bug-thing, but it doesn't matter now, cause I'd like for it to count in my menu as "caught", since it helps me keep track of ones I put in the museum.
  11.
I think a good idea would be for them to have made a lawnmower so you could ride around and plow through all the weeds hoo ha ! :D
Hear, hear! ^o^ I'm proud of my own first floor layout. I have it Oriental/Asian-themed. I have an imperial floor, exquisite wall, cricket, pine cricket (bell cricket soon to come), a birdcage, a couple Lulloids, a Gongoid, a classic bed, a lot of exotic furniture, including about 4 exotic screens, almost all of the bonsais, a scroll, and one of those trees with the colored tages hanging from them. XD I think it's called a lady tree or something.
  12. Yeah, most of the best fight scenes I've ever watched came from Jackie Chan. :3 BUT, my favorite ones--well, ones that I get a kick out of most--are the ones from The Terminator III. W00T!!! I dunno if you could call it a "fight scene", but it's just awesome when two psychotic robots/androids are going at each other in the most awesomest of ways (ok, I'm at a lack for more descriptive words now 9_9)-- --chasing each other down in big-a** trucks and car crane things through neighborhoods and freeways is a lot more fun than kicks and punches. And when the Terminator leaps from the side of the road and lands on the roof the car that Arnold dude and the guy and girl were in (argh, I can't believe I forgot all their names!!), it turns its arm into some buzz-saw, and starts tearing through the metal. And when it wasn't able to use its "primary weapon" anymore (damaged), which made me laugh crazily, it busted out some wicked flamethrower. But the BEST out of all this was near the end,
when Arnold took some self-destructive device out of his chest, activated it, and rammed it into the Terminator's throat, then simply said, "You are terminated", as they were being crushed under the exit/entrance's door, after he had prevented the Terminator from killing the main guy and his future wife.
Hahaha. There's just something satisfying about hard-hitting, simple fights that include human actors, in the role of being actual machines, that say little, at par with each other (usually one running from the other), and with hardly any expressions on their faces, and pretty much using whatever they can to go at each other--from trucks and semis to metal pipes and car doors. They just fight. No blabbing, no "discussions" or stupid strategy lessons--just FIGHTING. ;) (Which is what Naruto needs a LOT less of, but that's for another time.)

LMAO!!! I know! It's like the damned Windwaker theme all over again! :cross: I HATE that! T_T I was very disappointed when I found a bunch of dinky little midget-sized islands, usually with only a few places of interests on each. But I love this game nonetheless. I've beaten the Eilte 4 using only Blastoise, Nidoking, Butterfree, and Pidgeot. But then again, I bought a lot of Hyper Potions and Revives. :p But the biggest thing I love about this game other than the fun factor and graphical eye-candy (for retro RPG gamers like me *wink*) is the music The battle music all sounds like something off Mega Man--and Ru/Sa could've used a better make-over, lol.
  14. I haven't read the whole thread, but someone probably already mentioned the final Sephiroth battle (Safe Sephiroth? Gah, I can't remember). If not, then oh well. I'm here, heh. Seriously. I haven't fought him since '99, but I still remember the events as if they all happened last night. I remember feeling somewhat anxious, but since I waded through all those nerve-racking "pre-battles", I was feeling a lot more confident than when I first started. However, as soon as "One-Winged Angel" came on and Sephiroth started summoning Meteor (or whatever it was), my confidence all went to hell. -_o; But I defeated him, although everyone was at 1 HP. :whoops: That battle was pretty high-strung for me, and I had it in Active mode, which is what I normally use. So yeah. That battle's the most memorable one on my list -_o; Took about a good 15 minutes, too.
  15.
I've never really been a fan of multi part bosses. [/SIZE']
Yeah, they are the suck. I've seen those in a lot of Final Fantasies. XD My most memorable boss fight, actually, ONE of my most memorable boss fights would have to be
Yunalesca
from FFX. (I dunno why I put spoiler tags there, but just in case, I guess, lol. Don't mind my random spaciness. XD) Good God she gave me a hard time. I was always confused as to who to heal, who not to heal, because she inflicted Zombie status on my party members and went on a Full-Life fest, and when my characters needed healing, I'd be killing 'em off rather than curing them. So, by the time I finally defeated her, my brain was pretty pooped.. XDD I thought there'd be only two forms, but then a giant female head appeared out of the ground after the second and I'm thinking, "Oh, sh**, time to die." Basically, I didn't have much armor with the Zombie Ward/Proof abilities. But I managed after about, like, 10 tries, if my memory is doing me any good right now. :moron:
  16.
FF8 is vastly overrated for me simply because the battle system is pure crap. It's clunky, the Draw system is utterly half-baked, and the Junctioning is overly and needlessly complicated. Quite frankly, if they were going to go for a Junctioning system, why not use Final Fantasy VI? The Esper system was amazing, and damn easy to use.
Yeah, I totally agree. To me that's the only complaint I have of that game, but other than that I love FFVIII. :whoops: I have a game I personally think is overrated. I'm sure it's for legitimate reasons, but it's just to the point to where I can't help but roll my eyes at it, even if I like the game. Well, it's mainly the fans of the game that annoy me a little. Final Fantasy VII. Period. I'm a big fan myself (my favorite game ever), and y'know what they say, it takes one to know one, and that can't be any truer. Honest to God, the fans drive me insane. Sometimes I even drive myself insane! :cross: A few plot twists maybe a few deaths, and fansites sprout up like mold on bread. That, and almost everyone keeps calling themselves "DarkSephiroth", "Sephy", "Sephluver56" or some other stupid wannabe name. Ggh--!!!! >_O; *twitches* And
Aerith's death
does my irritation no justice. Yeah, it made me cry first time through, but I mean, I never liked her to begin with. It's not the scenario, but yes, the fans that tried finding stupid plotholes and theorized connections--connections that went as far as pre-rendered background "glitches" or something. I dunno. Although I find it temptingly sweet for an RPG to have this effect, it bothers me how people freak over it, and even today, I don't see anything that has surpassed its overrated-ness. 9_9
  17.
You can dodge attacks by pressing back plus jump at the same time. I think that's plenty. I don't find it all that useful in the thick of battle anyway... so I guess it just depends.
Well, I mean by roaming around and stuff. But yeah I do agree with you since it DOES have a linear whatchamacallit battle system, lol. :p I block pretty well, but jumping I suck at. T_T
  18.
Plus i love all nintendo games unless there gay like pokemon
A person's word usage reflects the person himself. :nope: And it's not a Nintendo game, it's just on a Nintendo console. +>_O But yeah, I'm sure that's what you meant. . .well, I hope it's what you meant. And I had no clue that you can do that with Zelos--change the scenario! Sheesh. I guess I should start a new file when I have the time, lol. :p The side-scrolling battles sometimes get annoying, because I can't really dodge attacks, which is what I'd like to do rather than just jump/run away. But I am relieved that magic spells can be avoidable--or some, if not all, anyways--because itmakes the fight a bit more realistic. And "roaming" battle movement, whether it's linear or all-around, like Star Ocean, gives you a feeling of "Ahaha, I dodged it!" rather than just sit there cause you know you're gonna get hit by the spell no matter what. :cross: But sitll, I don't mind turn-based either. That's why I like RPGs--they're different and the same all at once. :whoops:
  19.
Chrono Cross is a FAR better game as far as I'm concerned. You'd do well to give it another chance. The whole extra ending thing is rather lame as it is. Many of them aren't true "endings" and most of them aren't even remotely interesting. There's really only a couple that are worth even attempting to get. That whole ending thing is insanely overrated. Other games have managed to have many seperate endings and keep them interesting... I think this game failed in that regard.
I wholeheartedly agree!! Especially in Chrono Chross. My favorite song from that game is the song you hear when you enter the magic training room at The End of Time, lol. I just think it's a cute song. That, and Robo's Theme (but it gets a bit repetitive after a while, lol).
  20.
I don't know if this is a spoiler or not.
Then just simply put up tags, cause, well, you're not sure. But yeah, at first I was a bit disappointed with Sheena (dumb name, too), but as the end of Disc One and all of Disc Two progressed, I started liking her because she seemed to open up more, and wasn't as pissy. So now she's my favorite, although I didn't use her in battle as much as I did Zelos. (!!BIG SPOILER!!)
And speaking of, I was so irritated and disappointed when towards the end Zelos completely betrayed the party and kidnapped Colette for Mithos!
He was my favorite character, lol, second only to Sheena. T.T I don't like the way the game's scenarios are slow, like, everyone "takes turns" talking and taking action. And there's not much emotion or action going on unless your battling, and the only emotion/reaction I got out of the whole game was surprise (plot twists). It's an awesome game (mainly the gameplay and graphics), but there's only
one actual cutscene that I've seen so far
(I'm at the final boss), and it heavily disappointed me because I was expecting something like that integrated into the game's story, like the FF and Lunar games. And yeah, I definitely agree with the "attacks and spells go through the target" glitch-deal-thingy. :cross: And I hate it when bosses keep attacking/casting when you continuously beat the living crap out of them. That really ticks me off, because even with EX Skills, etc. enabled, it still takes some time to cast my own, and one little flick from the stupid boss sends me flying backwards. >_O+
  21.
Actually, any questions regarding Final Fantasy VIII should be posted in this thread. However, you should check out a site like GameFAQs[/url'] before posting a question, since you can most likely just find the answer in a FAQ.
Whoopsies. :whoops: Forgot all about gameFAQs. Glad you pointed that out, lol. *curses at the color tags* X /
Myself, though, I've recently had some frustrating moments in Skies of Arcadia Legends, and most relate to this one thing that I really do not like about the game: The prominence of instant KO attacks.
What saves my a** countless times is Aika's Delta Shield, and it's invaluable in the final boss fight, and pretty much in any battle where the said magic is used by the enemy, or mostly magic you have to look out for. But the negative/stat-reducing magic, well, I just don't use it for bosses, although I have poisoned a few of them. Although the Delta Shield negates ALL "Moon Crystal" magic for one turn, even ones you deal to yourself, it's still invaluable if you simply have healing items. And besides, the shield saved me more than my cure spells anyways, lol. :p And lemme see. . .*rubs chin* No irritations at the moment. A new record. XD
  22. *gives Mitch a funny look* -_o ; This game started me on RPGs back in '98-'99. Before that I just watched my brother play the SNES ones, or heard the BGM playing as I meandered about the house (he has a thing for turning up the TV). Now that I have those games myself, I get fuzzy feelings of nostalgia. #^.^# Both Secret of Mana and Chrono Trigger remind me of our seemingly always-sunny living room back when we lived at our old house, and I was in grade school still playing SNES/NES games, or whatever else was on hand (but not RPGs until, like, 8th grade+). But Chrono Trigger didn't have an impact on me like FFVII did, but what makes the game memorable for me was the graphics and the music. I'm starting to miss hand-drawn graphics, so I'm trying to get the RPGs that have'em just in case they go totally extinct. They're like valuable gems to me. ^.^ And the music is just too good to describe! But as time passed the video store quit renting out SNES games (and trust me, they had the RPGs, too) and sold them (the only RPG I managed to snag was Breath of Fire. *shakes fist*), I lost my hold on Chrono Trigger, and my mind broke away from the SNES as the PSOne started cranking out RPGs by the a**loads. Over that period of time, I kinda lost track of Chrono (about 1 to 3 years), until FF Chronicles was released and I borrowed it from a friend and behold. . . . . .Chrono was back! As for the new cutscenes, I was not disappointed with the quality at all. In fact, I wish there were more of them. But y'know what disappointed me more than anything?!?!
There was NO cutscene at all when Chrono was brought back to life, and Lucca was crying over him!
T_T That's, like, the positive equivalent of
Aerth's death!!
;_; Or something like that. o.O;
  23.
I know it is a very stupid subject but. What is your favorite video game and why.
Not stupid, just simply boring. Anyways, as long as I'm here, might as well start. I have one favorite game, and a series, in which I love all the games. Final Fantasy VII ranks as my most favorite. Why I like it, well, practically everything about it is bloody awesome (and I like pre-rendered graphics). So, think of practically all the aspects of the game, and there you go. Second, it's Pokemon. I like all of them because they're just simply addictive and fun RPGs that you can take anywhere, play anywhere, and training monsters to kick others' a**es is just amusing in itself. Nuff said.
  24. Uhm. . .*scratches head* Why are you still suggesting games for? I thought this was over already. Anywho, Pokemon's cool, I guess. Addictive, simple, and plain fun. ^_< *twitch*
  25.
Yes that fight was one fight i could have done with out although i could have done with out Adel at the moment.Im stuck at her and i am only at level like twenty eight or somthing and i cant train. Each fight i get into i only get one experiance is this a glich or what. Can someone help me with that.
Nope, not here. Just start a FFVIII help thread--pretty smashing idea, eh? ;) But yeah, getting one experience point is the suck. Which reminds me of Dragon Warrior. I keep putting off playing that, but once I started a new Log, I forgot how time-consuming it WAS!!!! One blue slime only got me one EXP. and one Gold!!! Chrissakes!!! Am I supposed to level up on those things?! And there's only one place in the whole damned game you can save, at the damned castle you start the game at! I guess I'll be needing all the patience I can get. I guess I won't finish that game until I retire when I'm old, by then I'll have all the time I need. :cross:
