Date and Time: November 3rd 2008 15:24 [GMT] Username: Vicky Age: 16 Location: Manchester, England How long I've been on OB: Around 5 years. Submission: Umm... well, I don't even know what I'm still doing here. My main excuse is that it's my homepage and I can't change it because I have a dodgy browser, but never mind. I have no idea what I come off as on here, nor what the majority of people think of me, so I'll have to leave that out. So I'm Vicky and I'm 16, joined when I was 11, had no idea how I survived. I started off posting in the Anthology - god forbid - and moved onto the Arena at some point. To be honest, my first games were the best. I think my first friend evar on here was Boo, and a variety of very old members that, if I said the name of, no one would remember because they were as obscure as me. The times I spent in the Arena really have shown because, up until only a few months ago, I didn't post outside of the Arena or the Anthology. When the Battle Arena was around, too, I used to participate in there a lot. Some fun trivia: My favourite RPG characters were Dani from Gifts and Curses, Tala-Taima from Brotherhood of the Wolf and Lykos from Shy's Vignette (how the hell did I get in that game?). I think my first RPG was Dmitri_Dragoon's which lasted 28 pages. Probably the funnest thing I've done, haha. Though to be fair, RPGing was better when I was younger - the reaction I got from some players was funny. Then it all changes when you turn 16, doesn't it? ¬_¬ I like writing things really. Though the vast majority of what I've written never makes it to the boards and my Role Playing is... sometimes... inferior to what I'd write normally, I still think OB played a good part of my writing. I'm hoping to one day become an author (jumping on the bandwagon? Well I've been there since before I can remember then haha) but I'm also planning on putting that off until I make something I'm actually proud of and is actually good, which may be a long time yet. I don't know. We'll see. Even though I involve a lot of my own life with the boards (that is, I never shut up about using it as a reference) I still doubt a lot of the members know me on here. Not really, so it's also quite hard to add a little bit as to what I'm like. I'm sure you can ask the one or two members that talk to me outside the boards. I also get the feeling I scare people off. I don't know why that is, but alas, I'm sure I'll still be talking to the same tiny group of people in two years time. We'll see. I'll add something more later ;D.

I think I did this last year, or the year before, or further back... or all three... when Ozy told me about it. First time around I got really pissed off and just pulled something out from my computer which was well over 50, 000 words to begin with and whenever I did it the next time I got just over 50, 000 with a few more days to spare. Then I forgot to submit it >_

Surprisingly, what was going to be a normal night out at a club (yes I can get in, I know the bar staff and the doorman ;D he's called Tony and he gives me free vouchers) turned out pretty weird. I went with my skull mask on but took it off most of the time. Highlights: Dodgy muslim guy! Wouldn't leave me alone, followed me for sometime, my RAF officer (and dressed as one) friend came bounding out the club and just terrified the living daylights threatening the bloke with all these weird military things, throwing ice cubes, trading lap dances with friends, doing up the button on Edward Scissorhand's trousers, walking home at about five in the morning with no music therefore making our own, phoning up work and telling them I'm not in tomorrow because my dad got run over (it's not as bad as the time I told them he had a heart attack), laughing constantly, laughing, the death threats people were giving weirdos for me, the ladies... let's not forget them, that pretty girl who's number I didn't get but she has mine ;_;. All in all it was a good night that started early and ended late. I got back home with a friend and intended to sleep but, alas, that didn't happen until about three hours ago. It probably wouldn't have been as fun without the halloween theme. I have quite a few good pictures, too, haha. Best holiday evar.

Sssh, use your indoor voices =p. I love the excitement around the game, haha, but remember everyone, you still have to get past the auditions and this time around, I'm offering no help except maybe providing a list of illnesses, diseases and a few fun trivia facts for your characters. I feel like I'm being terrible... it's all quite new =p. But not getting in doesn't exclude you completely - having made a character you should be quite familiar with the storyline. If anyone doesn't get in, feel free to post suggestions to the story here... same goes for any members who end up following the game. So far I only have a vague outline of the beginning, the middle and the end. Everything in between is an infinite blank XD. Oh, and I'm thinking of keeping the auditions open quite long, because I spied some people spying on my thread in the Who's Online, so I want to give everyone who was thinking of joining a chance to consider. I'll be thinking of closing it around next week, possibly longer, if there's a reason for it.

I forgot to mention in the game... and this thread... that the RPG will be mature. But I'm sure the majority of you gathered that, what with the blood splatterings all over the auditions thread, hehe. Violence and language will probably be a definite - I mean, how else do we get food? Coax the foxes into letting us eat a bit of them? =p - the sex is all up to you lot. As long as it's something interesting that occurs through the process of the game and no one jumps on each other immediately without good reason... Raiha =p. (You know I'm kidding!) And when I say mature, I don't mean to be jumping on the bandwagon of the constantly mature RPGs here. I just mean to give a feeling to the world. It's dog eat dog, and that ain't pretty.

Marc Chagall - Jewish modernist. He's 20th century and it's probably quite easy to find something on him... wiki it, maybe. My favourite artists are quite a long lists of them, mostly the controversial ones (Marilyn Manson is also there - yes, he does art, he paints with absinthe). My favourite of the legends is Van Gogh, for the obvious reason that he was afflicted that mental health problems and it was quite interesting in itself. I'm more drawn to the extreme personalities.

Assassination attempt, first of many?
Vicky replied to Drizzt Do'urden's topic in General Discussion
WWith how many white extremist groups out there, including the skin heads (neo-nazi's), the KKK, and all other less prevalent groups.
Correction, just 'Neo-Nazis' on its own, unless you say Nazi Skinhead. The vast majority of skinheads are completely aware that it's a contradiction to be a Nazi Skinhead (as the music that inspired the culture was derived from reggae and other forms of black music). I just had to shove that in somewhere XD. I don't understand why his race would be a problem, or anything else about him that doesn't relate to his opinions. If America is not ready for a black president, so to speak, then it was never ready to call itself the world's super power. But like it's been said some people will always dislike the leader and it's common place for them to find something to use as an excuse or attack. I don't know, but I get a very very gritty feeling that Obama may not last that long, and it may not even be up to the American people anyway. And I think I'll blame the Zeitgeist movie for this opinion >_ -
I was actually thinking of the kind of societies animals would have created... monkeys in particular. I was also thinking of all these eyes in the buildings (hence the first line of the RPG haha) from the vultures and birds, or a lion's head popping up out of an eroded windscreen and staring everyone down while its mates wander out of Big Ben... ...I thought about that way too much >_

There are voices in the walls and life in the floorboards, scouring and breeding without any kind of intervention . The dogs are dead and the wolves are the masters; they’re responsible for eating all the toy dogs and putting good use to the dead flesh of their domestic brothers in the cities. The North American planes become littered with ten of millions of cattle, bisons and horses, the largest herds that had ever been seen since before humanity. The monuments in the desert are hidden beneath layers and unmonitored sand dunes, the great statues eroded and covered over by moss and trees. There isn’t a trace of any kind of intelligence left beyond instinct and feral desires – there is no life beyond the nature. Except for the very faint remains, when the rains come down, of steel foundations and century old cell phones, sometimes bleeping out the last of Beethoven’s 9th Symphony. * Cryogenics reached its peak during the last half of the 21st century. It was a process that cost money and was often only given as an option to those with the money, or the select few who gained the sympathy, having some kind of disease or illness that was possible to be cured by medical advances. Either way, a cryogenics lab was established underground in a few selected countries, totaling only fifteen. At some point during the end of the 21st century there was a massive wave of increased intellect and talent, often called the next stage in human evolution, or the calm before the Posthuman era. Due to political tensions amongst nations and fear of economic collapse the future of these spectacular human beings the majority of them were placed into the ‘Sustainable Future’ programme – which was simply a means of placing them in the cryogenics programme at either a young age or an age where they would show above-average qualities. No one knew why, nor how, but shortly after the arise of the 22nd century, humanity was gone. The only traces that remained were around one hundred skeletons scattered across the globe, the statues that they build, the roads and the damage. There was not a trace of humanity left in the world and no one knew why, because no one was around to ponder it. Some five hundred years A.H. (After Humanity) the cryogenic labs located under ground (as opposed to the ones above which had been completely broken) either began to malfunction or shut down completely. Those who did survive centuries after their time walked out into the underground labs, perhaps the only places preserved on the planet, and proceeded to the surface. It is those who are the last of human kind – the rich, the dying, the savants and the vague Posthumans. The awakening times of each varied but when all did awaken there seemed to be some hidden obligation, some pride for their own species, to unravel the mystery of what had happened. You will be playing a cryogenically frozen individual from 2050 onwards (apologies for that not being on the timeline). There are no weapons beyond your wits, no shelter beyond the clothing you wear and absolutely nothing out there except those frozen with you and the vicious, primal wildlife roaming the streets. You have nothing. Despite all this a few of you are wondering what the hell happened. There are cars crashed into trees and remaining buildings; where did humanity go? There are no computer logs available where you are and no documents to tell you. It would be feesable to go around ignorant and re-building the population, but how could you possibly know the same fate won’t happen to you? How can you possibly ignore a hidden obligation to your species? Your allegiances, your hospitality, your desire and your trust in your fellow humans is the only thing that will make or break you. Name: Age: Include in brackets the year frozen (the 'Sustainable Future' programme is active in 2080 - yes yes, I forgot to put that in the bloody timeline!) The low-down of Chase is a boy who shows off his extraordinary memory whenever he can, who can be verbally abusive when he pleases, a dominant prodigy, arrogant and, above all, formidable. The personality is often considered a 'persona' to hide something deeper but Chase himself is incredibly good at keeping up the said persona without so much as a chink in his armour. Chase is well-known as a television personality because of his genius and because of his incredibly strange outlook, nicknamed the "Jersey Jackal". Chase tends to be a very, very subtle sick human being who is well known for using his intelligence to tear a part people on his shows, or make comments about people he knows he is better than. There have been numerous controversies around Chase's shows and the comments he makes (he is most infamous for his politically incorrect sense of humour), in which his general response is "it's just a joke!". At first hand Chase comes off as the 'funny guy' but quiet observation shows him to be much more. He is a devious and calm character who only ever shows this man who is always smirking or laughing, rarely showing his true feelings. It has often been speculated that Chase uses his sick humour and personality to hide his depression (a disease that runs in his family) but this is, like many other explanations, simply a theory. Despite his controversial nature and impulsive need to comment on everything and belittle everyone he comes across, Chase has been a valued member of society. His numerous skills have given him a reputation beyond the 'Jersey Jackal'; he is mostly renowned for his work in philosophy and music (on the downside he often twists this philosophy to meet his own needs). The Jersey Jackal An unauthorised biography. INTRODUCTION Galileo Chase, named after the great Galileo Galilei, is perhaps better known as the Jersey Jackal. He was born not in New Jersey as many assume but instead the island Jersey off the coast of Normandy, France. When asked about his childhood Chase would never give a full reply, instead a blunt one, but it soon became clear to me after talking with parents and relatives that Chase was quiet, recluse child who received no recognition for his intelligence nor had the chance to exercise that incredibly formidable persona. As many well know, young Galileo was born with an eidetic memory (that is, the total recollection of all images, sounds, smells and sensation). For the majority of his childhood we assume he took up most of his time studying mathematics, literature, philosophy and music as when he did emerge on the 'Posthuman' scene he was already well-versed in these subjects. He only became known as a prodigy at a University lecture with his father when Chase corrected Ali Bhutto's physics portion of the lecture. He was tested for his IQ at the same University and managed to gain a score over 170 points, a massive score at the age of thirteen and perhaps only occurring in 2% of the population. Despite the score it is alleged that Chase said, bluntly and sarcastically, "I've done it before." The more attention the boy was given the more his 'Jackal' personality developed. Chase delved into as many subjects and categories as he could, often appearing on talk-shows and receiving the same amount of media coverage as other 'Posthumans' were given. Chase's abilities were often passed off as his extraordinary memory rather than actual talent, although Chase argued that his abstract abilities (such as music and writing) could not be memorized. It became almost common place for Chase to appear on television. He was characterised for his snappy remarks and degrading comments, as well as a tendency to do as he pleased. It was a mystery as to why Chase was so impulsive and formidable as, generally, the most intelligent humans were quiet and modest (leading once again to many theories of how he developed this persona). At the tender age of eighteen Chase managed to convince (or, more than likely, force) a network into letting him host his own show. His show was somewhat popular and helped in projecting his television personality; soon enough Chase had trouble getting guests on his show because it was common place for them to be ripped a part. For the next part of ten years, Chase improved his mental agility, participating in debates on talk shows. Though music and philosophy were his main interests, Chase's memory allowed him to bring up information his opponents could never know; that being said, it was rumoured that the big bad Jersey Jackal had never once come face to face with another child prodigy and had refused any such offers. It was often said that after his long talk show era, the great Jersey Jackal let too much of his personal life go. To the media's delight, Chase honed some strange fears and antics - above all it was said that Chase feared other Posthumans or even vaguely intelligent beings so much that he would completely ignore them. There were also the amusing internet rumours surrounding Chase's fear of statues and birds. Chase eventually became bored with his adventures and was offered a place in the Sustainable Future programme, although the presidents were reluctant to have such a loud-mouthed, foul creature on board. The Jersey Jackal now spends his days in a freezer, and we're not entirely sure if that's a bad thing.
WILSON!!! Ten points to moi, I believe. Although the coconut friends did call to mind the Nightmare of Milky Joe. Anyway, I haven't seen the documentary, but I very much like the idea - the whole survival aspect of it is something which does interest me quite a lot. What about the climate? The Wiki page mentions some changes in weather and such - colder winters than before and so on - but has there been any drastic change in climate? I would imagine global warming is not such a problem, what with there being no humans and all, so are we looking at a healthier planet Earth? More trees and plants and less man-made structures? To be honest, the Wiki page probably covers most of this, but it's late and I've only just got in from work, so forgive me if I'm asking questions which have already been answered.
YOU GET TWENTY POINTS! The coconuts were Milky Joe ;p. I haven't thought about the climate all too much. I was thinking that, in winter, it would be too cold for us to survive it for very long so I'm basing it in summer or spring at the beginning. The Northern Hemisphere might be where we're starting but I'm not sure how cold it would be up there without humans. I'm aware that Britain would still be warm as the currents may not have changed, but otherwise we might actually be looking at basing the entire thing around Europe (France, Spain, Italy, Africa .etc etc) or Asia. I'm not entirely sure about having the game over in America because there are a lot of cattle which can indicate there aren't as many predators. I'll have to look up my history but you see, even though America is massive, it doesn't have as much variety as over in the European area and further into the Eastworld. If we start off near a place that is relatively close together, rather than across the Atlantic, we have much more to explore. I might get out the globe, spin it around and put my finger on somewhere random and make up the climate, haha XD. I'll try and bring up some information for the climates though. EDIT NOTAGE: Production is postponed until tomorrow or possibly Wednesday (well I say production, but it's already finished... I'm just... lurking and waiting).

SPX because her banner is bitchin'. *ahem* It's the colours, really. I love those colours and they're very fitting for a war theme. That's the kind of colour you find on decay and old things, and I think the sort of 'decaying' look in the background contrasts with the text, which makes it look more technological and... stuff. Two things in war nowadays, I guess. I love the way it all blends together, as well. It's a very nicely done piece.
That'll do, Vicky, that'll do. How do you feel about corncob pipes? (joking)
That would work =p. I was also thinking of having football's with faces and coconut friends! Ten points to whoever gets the movie reference. Seriously though, cheers for the questions, it clears things up for the shyer OtakuBoardians who probably wouldn't ask, haha.

Haha, I'll answer them here since this is where that kind of information would generally be anyway.
The communities. What kind of settlements have these people established and what is their quality of life?
The depends on the players themselves and what they come up with. Obviously the overrunning of nature makes it incredibly difficult to establish anything incredibly brilliant and even civilised. As these humans in the game will have grown up in a sheltered environment they won't be used to the feral animals out there, nor will they have access to the primal human instinct their caveman ancestors had. So the settlements may be entirely up to the player's imagination. Quite often I might try and push the characters into exploring and there may be clues upon clues that lead them to different areas to find the answer to what happened, so each settlement might be purely temporary.
The hierachy. Do these people have some sort of established government or is the community ruled by a counsel of elders (Planet of the Apes style)?
Again, based on the players. There could be one character whose personality dominates the rest and gives all the orders, or possibly a division of power and alliances. I don't think there would be a council per se, not with the amount of humans left, but there could be something vaguely like that. Again, it's up to what happens in the RPG and the players, though I do anticipate there may be a lot of traveling and exploring about.
Dwellings. Have they built their own structures to live in or are they squatting in whats left of buildings erected before the human disappearance?
I would say probably squatting or making other buildings out of the remains. In the actual audition thread you'll hear, briefly, of a 'economic and political unease' between nations so there could in fact be a lot of bomb shelters around or buildings that were built by paranoid citizens anticipating a war.
Technology. Weapons? Transportation? I understand most machinary would be rusted away by now, but what has been rebuilt, if anything?
Considering we're going to have a couple of 'above average' human beings in this it's a possibility that machinery can be rebuilt once again but technology will be very, very limited. There won't be any guns or weapons of that kind unless we did an immense amount of traveling and found... area 51 or something with weapons that didn't degrade. It's all a possibility but at the start of the RPG we're going to have little to no technology - perhaps odd and clever contraptions built, like a cross bow, but nothing beyond medieval until we get further into it. To answer your further question on the situation, we're basically fending for ourselves completely and there's only a small amount of us left. We're looking for answers (at least the majority maybe wishing for that) and we're surrounded by wild nature with little to no help except our wits about us and an almost buried instinct. Pretty much, I want people to imagine this lonely, post-apocalyptic future, with all these weird and unexpected things occurring (quite natural occurrences might I add, just 'weird' as our characters lived in a sheltered and secure past). The idea is to have nothing to begin with and see how the characters change and develop, but not only that, we'll have the plot twists I have planned for later on. It should be more interesting than it sounds.
-
So the characters are waking up between 450 and 500, but at what point will the RP begin, in the year 500? So we can assume some sort of culture has been created by those humans that have been "unfrozen" for 50 years? In the documentary they said the Hoover Dam would be the last man made structure to survive because its hundreds of feet of solid concrete. I believe it's supposed to stand for nearly 100,000 years. So maybe there is a human stronghold inside the hoover dam?
It would be unlikely as the characters who woke up at 450 would be rather old by now, or even dead. The amount of cryogenic characters is going to be the amount of players, no one else (unless I play out my twist, but nevermind that) as the majority of the machines would have shut down and killed those inside. Although I gave fifty years of freedom before the actual game I was thinking of people only using a few years of that - like a character who was unfrozen about twenty years before 500 A.H. could be useful as a sort of 'guide' and a knowledgeable character to the world after humanity. I am, however, open to anyone having a character who is the result of two characters who were unfrozen fifty years ago who had a child. They'd have to run that by PM with me first, haha. The dam, though, could serve as something for later on in the RPG.
I'd like a little more clarity on the plot of this RP. Why is it these people's job to find the cause of human extinction? What would they gain from this knowledge? I think there has to be a link between their survival and that information.
Human curiousity of obligation/pride of a dead species, mostly. But I decided there should be some kind of goal and some kind for force behind the characters, as I'm not planning on having them staying around the same place. The reason for finding the extinction would also possibly increase their survival rate - the fact that there are only a few skeletons suggests that humanity probably went somewhere. The small amount of humans around in this game would find it incredibly difficult to create their own civilisation... so they probably have nothing else to do until they die, haha.
EDIT: Regarding the timeline, Vicky... the numbers on the right side are what... the year? If so why don't they correlate with the years on the left?
The right side are the year in C.E. (A.D. though I don't really like that too much) and the left side is the year after humanity. That's just following the Wikipedia timeline so people don't get confused (and gives the almost exact year in which humanity fell, 2150). I also thought it'd be rather interesting to see what happens where, and exactly what year we would be in had civilisation not collapsed.

It'll definitely be a survival route with a few nasty twists here and there. The thing I'm going to like is it's a chance for everyone to throw in two cents - if you've heard anything interesting about nature, for example, that has never been observed then you can throw it in. I haven't thought about anything supernatural but I'm looking for twists and whatnot, so supernatural creatures is indeed a possibility. There's actually no official number, haha. I'm thinking of around five, but that can go up to around eight or even down. I'm not entirely worried about the numbers (though if it suddenly explodes to about twenty haha, unlikely but yeah, I'll rethink this) and I'm more worried about the characters. The criteria is very vague so it's up to everyone to consider the game and come up with something unique, yet fitting. I may or may not post a criteria for characters, because I'm more inclined to see what people can do. To answer your question, vague numbers. Twelve at the most, I suppose. I will be looking out for a somewhat balance between the different people, though. EDIT: Timeline, somewhere to keep it for now before I forget the URL. The thread itself will be up tonight =p. So, I came up with this idea at lunchtime when I was watching the documentary Aftermath: Population Zero, and I thought... what a great idea! Except I twisted it a bit. Basically, the setting and environment in Aftermath: Population Zero will be the same setting for this game (don't worry if you haven't seen the documentary, the information needed is on a webpage I'll link to shortly and doesn't require immense amounts of dedication and time). The basic overview? You will be playing a character who has been cryogenically frozen (either due to being rich enough to afford it, dying of a disease... which means you'll die somewhere in the game haha, or being one of the illusive 'possibly Posthumans' or a member of society with above average intelligence/skill that was placed into the 'Sustainable Future' programme. See RPG) and thus outlived the destruction of humanity. Your job is to find out how and why humanity suddenly disappeared with little but a few hundred bones left. This will be one of the only games I do where I'll be picky with who gets in. Not based on writing talent so much, more based on the characters themselves. I really doubt I'll be offering places for hard-arse military mercenaries, haha. The characters will be accepted on the writer's ability to take a setting and twist their own creative designs to make them fit... which is odd, as one would find it difficult to fit into a world now full of animals and nature. But you get me. The characters can wake up any time between 450 A.H (After Humanity) and 500 A.H., which is the year the RPG will take place. I haven't decided on a chapter set up, or even if there will be one, for the game yet. I'm pending on ideas for that. I was just wondering if any was interested or had anything they wished to contribute? Ideas for the chapter system/story system would be good. I'll probably post the timeline when I'm done with that too. Any takers? EDIT: This is your bible for the game if you're interested: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aftermath:_Population_Zero . You just have to ignore the events after 500 A.H.

Sin sat on the far end of the bar and swirled the glass under her nose inhaling the smell with a slight smirk. She knocked it back, sweet nectar of Southern Comfort on the back of her tongue and sliding down her throat. She really did love that stuff. Stretch had came up to her from behind scratching his head but she didn’t notice him. Instead, she ordered herself another drink and sipped that one slowly this time. “Sin?” Sin raised her eyebrow and turned around slowly on the stool. She raised her other eyebrow upon seeing the blood trickling down from his ear. Stretch’s eyes flicked from her gaze to the blood, which he touched meekly, and gave a lopsided frown. “You had an accident? Or are you just PMSing from your ear?” Sin mocked. Stretch breathed out and shook his head, too nervous or too tired to give a reply. “Well, she wants to see you in the Windsor room. When you’re ready.” Sin laughed. “Of course when I’m ready,” she whirled the drink under her nose once again and throw it down the back of her throat, Stretch sitting at the bar stool beside her wiping off the blood from his ear. Sin had, once again, ordered another drink before she planned on moving. She slid half of it down her throat then handed the rest to Stretch. She stood up feeling slightly tipsy from the shots themselves, bracing herself on her cane and leaning in to pat Stretch on the back, who held the drink up almost mockingly. “Have a good time, like I know you will.” Sin raised her hand, Stretch flinched. “Watch the fuckin’ tongue.” Stretch held his hands up and nodded his head, mouthing an apology. Sin only grinned and patted him on the shoulder and he returned a nervous grin, a nervousness he rarely ever bided anyone to see. Sin walked through the Birdcage, cane in hand and all that demeanour she carried so well, making her way to the Windsor room which was located at the basement of the club itself. The path down to the Windsor room was isolated and lonely; it was a narrow, steep corridor down to a door, where even Sin had to place her hands either side the wall to keep her balance graceful. She had raised the goat head of the cane to tap at the door, a little hint of modesty and manners shining through, but she suddenly caught herself and whipped it back on her shoulder. Instead she opened the door rather forcefully and stepped in, closing it with the back of her palms. The room brought a smile to Sin’s lips because it looked almost like an offshoot of her homeland. She stepped forward a little and took off her hat, placing it down on the floor and cracking her neck from side to side. The room was quite bright, considering, and fresh. Sin took a glance around, almost white washed walls, with certain objects and furniture’s place upon them. It was a small room, actually, with school desks on one side with ropes, chains and whips hanging off the hooks just above them (Sin raised an eyebrow). There was a chalk board, too, with words on it that Sin took no notice on, instead taking notice of Graie, Painslut, or whatever she went by, kneeling on wood. Sin bit her lip. She was sure to have the cane by her side as she walked through the curtains against the arch and leaned against it, some distance behind Graie, with a grin on her face. “What on odd place to be meeting…” she chuckled.
The speculation that because their is homosexuality in the animal world it is natural for their to be homosexuality in the human world, and because it is natural it is therefore alright, is only speculation, and not any sort of solid evidence. What i would consider to be solid evidence that homosexuality is caused by our biology is if we actually found some reason that it would be... a gene or something. Nobody should say that it's ok to be homosexual because there are gay animals, and neither should anybody say the opposite. So, i suppose on that part we agree (not to say we even really disagreed on anything in the first place, hah).
You see, I personally only use the 'in nature' counter argument when people bring up nature and I rarely use it as an 'excuse'. We should not do because animals do (if you get me) but we should also realise that being of higher intelligence doesn't justify hatred, damnation, bigotry and violence against what we think is wrong. I think the major issue here is, why is it not right, whether it's in nature or not? Homosexuality doesn't hurt people. You can say killing is nature (ignoring the driving factors of a murder) but we know this is morally wrong because it hurts people. I don't understand why homosexuality has all these morals issues because, frankly, it doesn't hurt a thing. You can understand arguments about, lets say abortion (damn threads) about being right or wrong because it involves speculated life, harm and all that jargon. The main problem is the only evidence people bring up for this sort of thing being wrong involves 'unnatural', 'against the Lord', 'not scientific'. There is a lot of loose evidence and ideas about how children are born as... let's say a savant for now, but does that make it wrong because there is no scientific evidence?
Just because homosexuality or hermaphrodites exist in the animal world doesn't mean it should be accepted in the human world. Some animals sometimes eat their young to survive, should this then too be considered alright in our society? This is often called the naturalistic fallacy, unless i'm misunderstanding it. Just because something exists in nature does not mean it's any better or worse than what is produced "artificially" by man.
I was a rather blunt statement, but what I mean is people often state it is unnatural in human nature above all and I was referring to humans as animals. The very fact that it happens suggests that it's probably nature. To make it clear, I don't care at all whether it's nature or not. We are not nature anymore, and I see the whole 'unnatural' thing as a fallacy itself. Therefore any statement of it being against nature is downright silly.
Hmm...actually, sometimes I wonder if my personality would be a bit more normal for me if i were a boy...but then again, normal's boring as hell.:catgirl: Anyway, I've no problem with people bending or changing their genders. Heck, I've always wanted to wear a tux to my eighth grade graduation instead of a dress. But I also like girlish clothes sometimes...it all depends... (And yes, I'm a girl.)
Beat you, I wore a tuxedo for my prom =p. Nice white one with my master mohawk and this blood red shirt. Had some make up on as well. Right here. I also play the men in my school plays... or in my former school. And get the comment 'is that a boy or a girl?'. I'm the skinniest and shortest lad I've ever seen, then. Either way, I know how to play both roles incredibly well.
Well, I don't know anyone who was born as a hermaphrodite, but people I've met who are transgendered get a lot of hate for it. Why do you guys think that is?
'cause people are insecure bigots? If you're happy then you're happy and others shouldn't hate someone if they're happy, regardless of whether they fit the 'social norm' or anything like that. Personally, I think the amount of people with all this hate for transgenders, hermaphrodites, even drag queens and cross dressers, should shove it up their arse and get a grip. Anyone who says it's not normal should look up the term 'hermaphrodite' and realise that the majority of this is present in the animal kingdom, lol. Us human beings ain't above all that yet to be condemning nature because society (pretty ****ing unnatural) says so. This issue often irritates me because the people who will jump out with the hatred and 'wrong wrong wrong' statements are quite ignorant. There's no perfectly identified gender anywhere - there are gender roles in society and that just makes it all the more awkward and silly. All these gender specific items are ignored - you must have, at one point, worn at man's jacket or bought one if you were a girl, and vice versa? So what's the point of slamming the table and saying 'woman and man - born that one, no other way!'? That's not to do with nature - hermaphrodites did not just appear in the 21st century. It's a social set of rules and, again like the issue with sexuality in the bible, there are 'exceptions' to the rule that benefit the haters. It's really silly that we, a 'civilised' society, cannot fathom the same acceptance to these issues like the majority of the brutal ancients could... notably pagans. I love saying that. I'm not saying anyone who's transgender etc etc should be given special treatment, nor that people should willing agree with their lifestyle, I'm saying others who don't agree should stop hating and leave them alone. I dislike organised religion, but I do not protest outside churches, yell in people's faces, or even kill anyone from organised religions. I tolerate it and accept it as their faith and their way of life, even though I'm quite suspicious of it and question it myself. Why is it so difficult elsewhere? Anyway, I have a very strange gender identity. Of course I'm a girl, slightly... but you see, I role play online as men, I also write more about men and sometimes when I join other forums I pretend to be a man =p. Someone on here once thought I was a man... I also accidentally said 'we' once or twice and I do it a lot of here - when I say 'we', it's actually very unlikely I'm referring to a group. But my gender identity issues can be simplified with one statement, which I refrain from saying, as you don't need to know =).

What was the weirdest thing a family member of yours has done?
Vicky replied to Cat's topic in General Discussion
I was rather young when this happened but the weirdest ever thing was my oldest brother. He's weird most of the time but this was really odd. Basically there was all this noise at about two in the morning so me and the second eldest (who would have been about fourteen or fifteen at the time) went to see what was going on. Turns on Malc (oldest) was painting the living room yellow and black O_o. Needed new furniture and everything. He got absolutely thrashed by my mother and although I was too young to understand what she was yelling at him I gather, in my older age, that he was probably on something... I'm guessing LSD >_ -
The problem with this is, even though I know this thread is just for laughs, the people I really like and want to meet, it's as friends, not to 'bang' them. So... I abstain. Seriously. *joins in with the chanting/singing*
Maybe it should be 'theoretical/maybe/possibly without much choice' members you would err... sleep with, haha. I can say now that if I ever did met anyone on the secret list that was not in the first post I wouldn't even try. I'd actually back off and lol at them if they even did. Because even if I possibly maybe perhaps without a choice in the matter would 'bang' 'em, I'd still see them as friends too much to do that. Though I'm sure Raiha has different ideas for everyone ^_~

I haven't posted my list on there. So everyone who thinks I did read it again, you're only on the 'favourite almost-shaggable personality' list =p. I'd have to go about it a different way for each one. I have my ways. Whether that be buying them their own Starbucks Cafe or tying them to a chair, I don't know. I don't do romantic evenings... Jesus Christ, do I look like the romantic type? I do five pound gigs and sitting under a bridge with Southern Comfort. Not romantic evenings. My normal tactic is get them drunk. Though, somehow, I don't think that would work...
And I don't see a difference between the two. Of course they don't have actual hypnotic abilities. But they are a device of the cult that is organized religion. I'm awaiting the angry replies to this. I'm ready.
Just like plastic green army men brainwash children into becoming soldiers - like every single boy nowadays that ever played with them! It's a toy. You simply don't buy the toy if you're not religious and you buy the toy if you're a religious family and want your child to grow up being religious - if this is 'brainwashing', then teaching a child your religion is brainwashing. That and nearly all toys nowadays portray some kind of belief that could be arguably wrong or serious. Bratz, therefore, brainwashes children into becoming band sluts, as does Barbie brainwash children into becoming pregnant vets. They may be an influence but at one point children grow up and think 'lol this is silly' and throw away the toys. Toys aren't the main influence - I hardly see how any toy is going to brainwash children. If anything, it's all the powerhouses doing the brainwashing... which would be the parents and everything above them. Organised religion is far too devious to start selling brainwashing Noah dolls.
