Anime Cartoon Network Line-Ups...and anime on television announcements
Cyber E. replied to Syk3's topic in Otaku Central
Yeah, some people have been discussing this in the 'Cartoon Network Line-Ups' thread. I posted the news article here. Still, it's cool news, but Shaman King is in one heck of a ride with 4Kids at the helm. -Cyber -
Originally posted by WW2 Note: I just found out that there will be a total of 13 new episodes, making the entire series 26 episodes.
And if the new episodes do good, Cartoon Network has the option to create 26 more episodes, bringing the series to 52 episodes. -Cyber
Originally posted by Teknomanfan are they gonna show other new anime to? There are still around 40-50 episodes that have yet to air, but they aren't that far with the editing. I am just saying September because now that DBZ (their biggest player) is out of commission they are going to have to do some major stuff to replace it. They are even airing four 1-minute parts and one 11-minute part for their Total Immersion Event. DBZ does need a long awaited rest, but starting this monday they are going back somewhere inbetween the Captain Ginyu/Freeza sagas (Again skipping the final episode) which hasn't been played for over a year. This is an odd move, especially given the odd episode placing. So something is up with that. Also, once FUNimation redubs all Saban episodes, they will air every episode, no interuptions on Toonami. Once they reach the end, it'll likely leave Cartoon Network a while. -Cyber

Actually, this news is from May.
Posted: May 15 2003 by Matthew Hazadu 4Kids Entertainment announced today that they have acquired the rights to the anime series Shaman King to be part of their Saturday morning FOX BOX lineup. Twenty-six episodes will be produced for a fall launch. Here's how 4Kids Entertainment describes the series: This adventurous series takes place in a world where anything is possible...where spirits and ghosts interact with humans. The main character is a thirteen year-old boy who is a modern-day shaman, one of the gifted few who can see the spirit world. His power comes by teaming up with Amidamaru a samurai warrior spirit -- together they travel the globe fighting evil spirits and misguided shamans on their quest to be the next Shaman King. Each battle prepares them for the once every 500 years "Grand Tournament," that will name the new Shaman King. [Source: Animation Insider]
The Fox Box schedule will look like this as of September 6th: 8:00AM: Cubix 8:30AM: The Cramp Twins 9:00AM: Ultimate Muscle: The Kinnikuman Legacy 9:30AM: Sonic X 10:00AM: Kirby: Right Back at Ya! 10:30AM: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 11:00AM: Shaman King 11:30AM: Funky Cops -Cyber -
Originally posted by MillieFan I know I sound kind of out of the loop, but what is SVES? Thank you -^.^-
SVES = Saturday Video Entertainment System.
Originally posted by shadowfire I didn't know they picked up Saint Seiya, but what is SVES ? Is it the Saturday thing or is everyday like Toonami or AS.
Saturday Video Entertainment System (SVES) airs various shows that have aired on Cartoon Network. It airs every saturday from 7PM-2AM.
Originally posted by shadowfire Also DBZ at 12:30, they better show it uncensored/uncut if it's gonna be on that late.
SVES doesn't air uncut or uncersored shows. If a show were on at 1:30, it'd still be TV-Y7. -Cyber -
Anime on DVD has their report from the Gundam panel at AX up, and...well...read for yourself: SD Gundam will be broadcast on Toonami this year. The series is a departure from Gundam. In addition to copious amounts of action, there is comedy and levity to it. Up to episode 5 has been completed. We then saw episode 5. It stars a kid named Shoot, who has roller blades and leave in Neo-Polis or Neo Tokyo. SD Gundams are about the size of people, and are their companion and server as the army. The Dark Axis powers come from another dimension to attack. It is computer animated using cel shaded animation. It didn?t look all the impressive. Episode five?s title is ?Gundam Force, Team Up.? This series is squarely aimed at kids. Shoot joins up with the SDG, the Superiorior Defender Gundam Forces, which of course is lead by a Haro. It is being recorded in Todd/AO studios in Burbank. The Japanese recording has not begun yet, and the DVD release in the US will not feature the Japanese dub. Let me repeat part of it for you: It stars a kid named Shoot, who has roller blades. OMG KILL ME NOW. -Cyber [Note: Thanks to Andrew of Animation Insider for bringing this up]

I don't seem to recall anything about the Gravitation anime, but TokyoPop bought the rights to the manga. I don't recall anything about the anime, though. -Cyber

Just so you all know, Kenshin moving to SVES is nothing more than a stunt to get the viewers from Toonami to SVES to get it ratings. Adult Swim is kicking major butt in the ratings while everything else seems to be falling behind. If you have the same crowds watching both blocks than you'd get good ratings. Therefore Kenshin will be back on Toonami in no time, possibly September. If this theory pans out (which, it will. :-P) this means that Kenshin will not get less cuts. Because Williams Street isn't going to two sets of editing within such a close period of time. They will be at the same level. -Cyber
