1. I know it's probably a bit late in the game to ask, but I was wondering if anyone from here was going. http://mizuumicon.org/
  2. A pretty good friend of mine died in early January. Her death was very much unexpected, like your friend. I'm very sorry for your loss. I really do have an idea of what you're going through. The only difference is that I know who is responsible for my friends' death [she was murdered and the perpetrator was caught] but you don't, and I'm sure that affects the grieving process.
  3.
I usually pour the syrup into one little square until it overflows into other little squares and creates a sort of "Noah's Waffle" of syrup-destruction.
I do that too. When I was younger and transfered to public elementary school in central Pennsylvania [U.S], there were quite a few times where the cafeteria served waffles with chicken and gravy. I don't know if that was a cultural thing or if the school district was pretty poor. Has anyone else ever heard of said concoction?
  4.
* Ghost Tracks A long time ago on the south side of San Antonio, a school bus carrying a full load of children stalled while straddling a railway. The bus refused to start and, unfortunately, their lives were quickly ended as a train smashed into the bus and killed all of the children inside. Today, if you go to the tracks, you can get the ghosts of the children to help you out. You place baby powder along your bumper and put your car in neutral at the specific spot where the bus was. Your car will slowly start to move forward, seemingly uphill, until you safely are over the tracks. According to this legend, the ghosts are pushing you out of harms way to make sure you get to safety and do not suffer their fate. You know it is them because, once over the tracks, you can get out and see dozens of tiny hand prints along the bumper where the baby powder is.
A few friends and I just tried that story out last week, to see if it would work. It was raining and 3 in the morning, so we couldn't do the baby powder part, but the car was slowly pushed up and over a mound, then over the tracks and off to saftey. We did it 4 times before we went back to the dorms. If anyone else was to do it they would have to be careful because the tracks in question are still in use.
  5.
I know what I want, since Isaac Asimov already said it. D'Ann: "Life is pleasant. Death is peaceful. It's the transition that's troublesome."
Off topic, but I adore Isaac Asimov. Judging from the articles and stories that he has written, he would have been an amazing person to meet. If he wasn't dead, I mean.
If we're discussing the specifics of post-life Kenneth Howell, I would actually like to be fertilizer. I would like to be cremated and planted with a tree or in a garden.
I've always wanted to be cremated and planted with a young tree. Maybe like... a willow tree, deep in the middle of nowhere. Then I guess I would literally be a part of the tree, as well as whatever else grew in the immediate area.
  6. Like HC said, she came out of a long and emotionally abusive relationship, so a relationship would be the last thing she would want to go into now. Are you guys going to stay friends?
  7.
I was about to come upon the local Dillion's
Ah! I remember that store from when I visited Kansas. I guess a recent story would be from Friday, which is when I first walked into my dorm room. School started last Monday, but because of administrative and financial aid problems, my moving in was delayed. Next to the sink on the counter were two letters from the head of the Res Life office addressed to me. They were dated from Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, informing me that because they haven't received my business office approval papers that they would "force me to fully evacuate my room". I had given the Res Life office my business office approval papers Tuesday night, and that is when they gave me the key and reactivated my student ID so I could have access to the building. I had spoken to them on Saturday, explaining that I may be a few days late in moving in, so they knew that I wasn't in a dorm on campus. Does that make sense to you? I mean, even the reasons of why that would irk me?
  8.
Well, aren't you old?
Not necessarily so. About 1/2 to 3/4 of my high school class got married or engaged within 3-4 years after graduating.
  9.
She seems nice online, but I have observed her devour an entire child on a whim. Terrifying to the core.
Both online and off, he likes to tell silly stories.
  10. When I was in high school, me and my siblings didn't have internet access at our house until I was 17. I explain this because I was in such a rush to hurry up and create an email account at the time that lacking creativity or originality wasn't an issue in the least. I came up with lea2385, lea being a nickname of my real name, 23 being the day I was born, 85 being the year. One day I was talking to a friend over the phone and he wanted to send me a pm. He was too lazy to type in my whole screen name, and so instead went through all the trouble of changing my name just so he wouldn't have to type in the four numbers at the end. Tada~
  11.
Is there someone you're around that seems too nice to be true?
Friend A is suspicious of friend B's boyfriend. He's incredibly nice and goes way out of his way to be sweet to her. I guess friend A sees friend B's boyfriend as giving to a fault, and since he doesn't seem to have issues or anything, it makes friend A very suspicious of his niceness, like he might have an ulterior motive or something. Thinking about that scenario had me wonder if the general populace would normally become suspicious of a person who was "too nice".
  12.
The sage hath spoken, end of thread.
That's not a sage. That's a fluffy owl.
  13. Would you ever be suspicious of a person who seemed a bit too nice? If so, give reasons as to why.

    School Life

I just took an accidental semester off from school, and I believe classes start again... next Monday? I'm kind of excited, to be honest. My enthusiasm is dampened somewhat by the required math course I have lined up, but oh well. >.
  15.
None of this thread makes any sense to me. It's getting worse now. "Prostitution is necessary?" What the hell? If it's necessary because people are in poverty or extreme circumstances and not in a situation they can make a choice, how does that support the notion that it should be legalized?
I could possibly be wrong, but I see other people who are arguing the use of prostitution as seeing a situation in extremes - I'm pretty sure I haven't seen anyone outright say that prostitution is necessary in general.
  16.
Having a safe city is good, and having an unsafe city is bad, unless you care to disagree.
Out of curiosity, if say a government was to legalize something like prostitution and have strict health regulations on it, how would it make a city dangerous? How would it make a city less safe?
  17. I've met a few people from online here and there, but the few that I have met I've spoken with online for quite a while, and they were from here.
  18. To those who insist that prostitution should be outlawed: You do realize that things such as drugs are outlawed, and yet there are still people selling and using them? Just because you outlaw something does not mean that act will eliminate the crowd that wants it. If there is a market for something, there will be merchants to cater to it.
  19.
So since you don't believe in a higher power, killing people is okay then, right?
Silly you. Higher-power less people have morals too.
  20. I don't remember there being any fun in allergies. Maybe I have the wrong ones.
  21. I was raised as a relatively conservative Muslim, so there really weren't any birthday parties, let alone traditions. On my 21st birthday my room mate and her then boyfriend took me to IHOP. At midnight, they informed the waiter it was my 21st birthday, and so he gave me a free ice cream sunday. Later that day my other friends took me to the local hookah bar and we hung out. That's what they did on my last birthday as well, so yeah. =] Have you ever met anyone with the same birthday as yourself? I did, but only once. It was very random, and he was the icecream truck boy in a little nothing town in Pennsylvania.
  22.
This thread needs more turtles.
Zomg my turtle! =O ... Zomg me! 24. I think of [this] And of Alan and that crazy fool Baron, wherever he be.
  25.
What about www.penisland.com? Pen Island has to be the worst name for a website ever. It's all about pens. Who the hell is that obsessed with pens? Autistic kids? Another wierd one is www.whorepresents.com. Who Represents is a site dedecated to what agent represents what celebrity. It's really wierd. Plus it has a funny name.
So you think the second link has a funny name? I dont think you wanna know how startled I was when I 'misread' your first link's name.... *grins sheepishly*
