Do you know any place other than animelyrics.com that I can find both romaji and English translations of the ending theme to Cowboy Bebop (The Real Folk Blues)? I'm writing the epilogue to my more serious Trigun fanfic, and the dub/edit translation would have matched it perfectly (since in that translation, the song seemed to be about love and loss, and the epilogue of my fanfic is Vash and his children by Meryl reflecting on those they have loved and lost and on outliving everyone they have ever met) However, the (possibly more accurate) animelyrics.com translation is more sexual, less mournful somewhat-and really doesn't match my fanfic's epilogue at all.

Writing How Many of You Have Fanfiction.net Accounts?

Actually, I wish my flamer was anonymous, because those are easy enough to deal with. My flamer is a registered member of the site using signed reviews, so the only way to stop her to e-mail the reportabuse@fanfiction.net thing, which I will do as soon as the site comes back up. Also, I do like that where the pairings are listed-and that is the only time I flame a story, when the pairing isn't in the summary and it's a *surprise.* I don't like yaoi surprises. One time I read this fic in the Trigun section that looked like it was WolfwoodxMilly from the summary and it was really WolfwoodxMidvalley :flaming: and yes, I know that pairing is even canon in the manga, nevertheless it's never done well by fans and. . .ugh. Anyway, I hope fanfiction.net comes back up soon. I've almost gotten another fic's first and second chapters ready to go online. . . -
Because I've talked to more than one person who has read it. I would advise you to send a message to Metatron, Plant_Angel, Spinnelein, or Sunde-all of whom know as much or more than I do. There is more than enough evidence that it is a different storyline, so I'm really not going to sit here and argue this with you. :tasty: And by the way, Maximum is the continuation of the story in the original manga. It is not a continuation of the anime series.

Yeah, it sure is annoying. I'm kind of having writers block anyway, nevertheless the downtime isn't something I like at all. I hope they can get the site back up (and remove some spam reviews I've been getting from someone I flamed once) -
My username says it all. LOL, I think Milly is the funniest airhead character in anime, or at least that I've seen so far. I mean, I was almost rolling on the floor in laughter in that episode where she mixed up the weather report with the fugitive report (think it was episode 19). . .oh, LOL:laugh:

This thread is spam, and I don't know why it's still even *here,* but I will do my best to answer your questions (although I've seen the TV dub of the anime and theotaku.com's site among many many others, read a lot of fanfiction, and whatnot, I still haven't seen the sub for myself-I really want to someday-and I haven't read the manga. Any errors, then, can be attributed to that or to my bad memory. Vash was made with the angel arm. That second question is too silly to dignify an answer and I think that you are too young to be watching this anime if you really meant it. In the anime, the showdown between Knives and Vash is in a location called Berd. IMHO, the evidence is more than enough that Milly is carrying Wolfwood's child. The fifth question is pointless. Of course most of us don't like that plot twist.

Writing How Many of You Have Fanfiction.net Accounts?

I have an account as AnonymousTrigunOtaku and I write Trigun fanfics. Currently, I have a serious one (Trigun: The Aftermath) and a humor one (Trigun Meets People's Court) posted, with more coming up and additions to the serious one (a last chapter and an epilogue) on the way. -
Metatron, Plant_Angel, Spinnelein, and Sunde, among others, know a ton about both of these manga. LOL, I'm a HUGE fan of the anime but all I know about the manga is secondhand or rumors I've heard-so what I have to say probably is worth less than a doughnut crumb. . .but here goes. As far as I've heard, the manga is much more focused on the Gung Ho Guns, Legato, and Knives than the anime is, which means that it is more senselessly violent than the anime, but also it means there's more plot/character development for the GHG, for Knives, and for Legato. The huge uptick in gratuitious violence from the anime is one of the few things that might make this a don't buy for me (because while I don't mind violence normally-LOL, Trigun and Cowboy Bebop are my favorite animes-,I do mind blood and gore every scene for no reason except to have blood and gore every scene because it's stylistically annoying to me as a writer.) Nevertheless, the character development might convince me to overlook that if it's done well enough. I so wish my local library had manga like that of someone else I know-that way I could see if this manga is something I want. I've always been a bigger fan of anime than manga. . . Its connection to the anime is tenuous to say the least. It's not even close to, say, an American movie and the book on which it was allegedly based. It's more like the manga is one way the story could have gone, one way it could be told, while the anime is another entirely (i.e.
in the manga: Vash begins to age after the Fifth Moon incident, Wolfwood lives, Legato lives so far, Wolfwood and Milly never fell in love, etc, while in the anime: Vash is assumed to be immortal or near immortal and the Fifth Moon incident sends him into hiding for two years, Wolfwood and Milly fell in "love" {or at least lust, whichever you choose to believe LOL} and it's implied that Milly is pregnant with his child, Wolfwood dies, Legato dies. . .
If I had to pick something to compare it to, I'd compare to playing Chrono Trigger/Chrono Cross in two different ways. It's the same game, same characters, but different stories and different endings. Now, some more rumorish things I've heard: In the Trigun Maximum manga, Wolfwood and Midvalley have been lovers in the past, however the relationship ended badly. By the way, I don't see this as an endorsement of fanmade WxV or even WxL yaoi simply because for yaoi, both sides have to be interested (unless it's nonconsensual yaoi which is an even sicker thing) and in the manga, Legato is too focused on himself and Knives to care about anything else, and Vash is in a somewhat-relationship with Meryl. I also heard that as fanservice to the female fans, the LegatoxKnives relationship may begin to develop such undertones in the manga. I hope not-not all of us like shonen ai/yaoi.

By the way, I heard that Shinichiro Watanabe of Cowboy Bebop fame was involved with the making of Big O-that may be why there are so many similarities with the music and style and such. . .

We said this in the thread on that anime: the voice actor for the negotiator is the same one who did Spike's voice. :) -
One theme I *hope* doesn't take over the series is the "love" between Roger and Dorothy (which I would guess would become more prominent because of the ending credits scene where they're sitting on the hourglass together as the closing theme, a love song, plays). I personally hope that it stays as a sort of platonic thing, because although a "deeper" relationship between a man and an android would be an interesting topic to explore, and (to me, maybe not to you) not as simply disgusting as, say hardcore hentai/yaoi/etc, it would be quite *different* and could POSSIBLY approach something really sick if not handled correctly by the writers. I say leave anything beyond nonsexual love between these two to the fanfic writers, and that the series should keep on track with its main plotline, LOL.

I'm watching Big O for the first time (though I missed the first episode), and I'd definitely say it has style LOL (and I noticed all those similarities between it and CB also, ) anyway, it's quickly becoming one of my favorite animes. I really hope theotaku.com opens a section on it. If it would be anything like their WONDERFUL Trigun pages, I'd be very happy.
Originally posted by animeforever105 *nods head in agreement*.Exactly! I am much more open with my close friends (who are girls),than my close friends(who are guys). There are things you can share with your friends, and there are things you can share with your love (of course your love should probably know all the things your friends do.oh well) I am disgusted by a few of the pictures I've seen. >_< blech! I don't mind people matching guy-guy girl-girl as much as I mind the pictures! The thing is, you may just accidentally see one of these pictures. That's the case with me. I looked at a title that sounded interesting then BOOM! This pornographic picture is right in front of your face. NASTY!
Yeah, and while most responsible authors of yaoi/serious shonen ai (I'm not referring to the "bubbles in the air fics" but to the stuff that's one shade short of yaoi), at least on fanfiction.net anyway, label it as such in the summary (or at the least the first page) for their fanfics and rate it accordingly, some don't. In my time of being a fanfic fan posting and reading in the Trigun section of fanfiction.net as "AnonymousTrigunOtaku," I've seen, among others, a nearly lemon WxV yaoi summarized in such a way that it didn't *look* like yaoi. The "yaoi surprise" came in the second chapter. I've also seen a KxL shonen ai fic that was done pretty much the same way. Basically, the only reason that one was "shonen ai" instead of "yaoi" was that it was a monologue of Legato's fantasies about Knives and they didn't *actually* have sex in the course of the fanfic. :blackeye: Basically, if you want to write/draw yaoi/shonen ai, please don't post it online without warnings, and please don't force sites to host it in order to "keep the fangirls happy." I'd like to see more sites that didn't have yaoi on them in some form or another.

:wigout: :bluesweat   I'm soooo happy about that-hey, are they starting the series over or at episode 22 where they stopped? I need to set my tape if it's ep 22. -^.^- -
Or if they look no farther, they will think it is "all about the mushroom and the moustache." I've seen people angrily blast animes on the basis of fan yaoi pairings that had little to no basis in the anime itself. I've seen people say that, for example, Gundam Wing was hardcore yaoi and refuse to watch it to dispel that canard-while screaming that anyone who does watch it or like it is a yaoi fan.
Originally posted by Circéus My small point over the subject is when I first started getting interested in anime fanfiction, I saw so much yaoi it looked as if heterosexual relationships where exceptionnal among anime fans o.O Actually, it doesn't seems to matter whether or not there are "official" couples to Yaoi fans. Even married caracters have a roaming troup of rabid yaoi fan. 0.0
Isn't that the truth! Seriously, I've seen pages of listings for fanfiction where there were about 4 yaoi stories to 5 or 6 normal stories per page listing. Also, so many fan sites feel that they must pander to this market and host at least one or two yaoi-related images or stories, or at the least provide a link to them. On a separate but connected rant, yes, I know the characters are just ink on paper and words and that we shouldn't care what fanfic writers do-or that's one way of looking at it. Another way to look at it is that, especially in the case where the yaoi fans try to "prove" the writer wanted fans to interpret the characters as yaoi, is that it is a form of artistic vandalism. It is similar to taking a look at the Mona Lisa, thinking "wow, this would be better with pink hair, a moustache, and a toadstool growing out of its head," and spray-painting your features onto the painting itself, or peddling your Photoshop remake of "The Real Mona Lisa" for money and telling both art conoisseurs and people who haven't even seen the real thing that it's supposed to have pink hair, a moustache, and a toadstool.

Gravitation is original yaoi ^sick^ . I personally find it distasteful and wouldn't choose to see it no matter what, but as it is original work and not fanfic/fanart made with characters that were not openly intended to be yaoi, I don't officially oppose its existence nor will I judge those who don't share my conviction.

I know I sound kind of out of the loop, but what is SVES? Thank you -^.^- -
Mmmmm, nice, nice flamebait. I think I prefer something a little more sweet though, something that isn't so obviously flamebait. ~.^ I don't think these setups are "romantic triangles." Maybe that's because I'm not a fan of yaoi or shonen ai and don't read that into it, but a character can have a close friend without them being lovers, even if one of the characters' girlfriends is, politely, a dragon and/or an obsessive. Also, your theory falls flat in that if it were shonen ai/yaoi fanservice, BOTH guys would have canon girls that were monsters or one would be single, but that isn't the case much of the time (i.e. Milly and Wolfwood, Duo and Dorothy, etc) And what's the other options? Have the main guy have no friends at all? Have his girl be his only friend as well as his love interest? Sorry, but where you see "love triangles," I see a platonic close friendship and a hopeless or close to hopeless relationship that are unconnected. The way I look at it, the characters are just friends until/unless the writer makes it explicitly clear that they are more than friends in the storyline of the anime/manga or in a published, referenced interview. (by the way, I'm going to pester some yaoi fans somewhere with a fic pairing Legato and Milly-and then post a note on it saying I have as much evidence for that as I do for the VxW pairing. Which I'm sure I could contrive just as much, i.e. they both like pudding, they both are subordinate to someone who is ordering them around [Knives and Meryl],they look good together. . . ) And before you say I'm totally closeminded, I recognize that there are some relationships that while not openly shonen ai, have nothing much to discourage it *cough cough Knives/Legato or Quatre/Trowa cough cough cough* and while I find those pairings personally revolting as I find all yaoi, these characters don't have ANY somewhat workable opposite-gender relationships, so I'd class them as potential shonen ai fanservice.

Anime The relationship between Legato and Knives?
MillieFan replied to MillieFan's topic in Otaku Central
I'm NOT a fan of LxK. . .nor am I a shonen ai/yaoi fan at all (as my banner used to mean, you know the canon couples one that I lost when trying to replace it with a banner for my site?) However, I'm wondering if, especially in the manga, LxK was actually canon, as a kind of (IMHO mindless) fanservice, especially since fanservice in this series, on the rare occasions it occurs, is usually directed to the female audience almost as much as to the male audience.
