5. Crash was still wiping up the drool brought forth at the sight of CJ's tank, when what felt like an iron vice grabbed onto his ankle. With a jolt he looked down at the withered hand anchoring his leg to the spot, and the other hand searching purposefully for his free leg. With a quick spin Crash pulled the hand and arm right out of the ground, and a critical stomp on a nearby head which was just pushing out of the ground gave rise to a long low moan. Crash grinned. Whilst they weren't the nicest challenge they'd had to deal with, they were somewhat amusing. Especially when they tried to attack CJ's tank, still clawing and biting it frantically as they were ground under the immense tracks. Crash turned around and punched a zombie in the face, feeling what he anticipated to be hard bone dissolving upon impact to a disgusting jelly-like texture. Taking a quick glance around he wondered where Mario and Shadow had got to. The others [aside from CJ] were fighting back-to-back in a closeknit group, but those two were nowhere to be seen. As if in a response to his attention, up on a dark hill he got a glimpse of a glowing red flash, and what, even from this distance, appeared to be the silhouette of a small italian man bouncing high through the air. Crash grinned. His attention was returned to the fight however when Fox's long foot flashed in front of his face and sent a nearby zombie flying backwards. "Crash, pay more attention, that thing nearly had your face!" Fox called over his shoulder. "It wants yours more!" Crash jeered at the cheeky fox, before jumping into a knot of zombies and decapitating them with a spin. "You guys, this is a fairly pointless position, we gotta get to somewhere sheltered and defensible!" the one called Kuja yelled. He was putting up a good fight, but seemed to spend a lot of effort making sure he avoided the flying goo of zombie brains and other things too disgusting to name. "That abandoned sanitarium behind the creepy looking fence looks ideal, we should try and get over there," Kuja yelled, as he smacked a zombie in the face with a branch "just let me clear a path". His eyes flashed, and with fists clenched at his sides a burst of flame appeared out of nowehere, decimating a countless number of zombies, in a straight path all the way to the door of the building. Crash blinked blankly at him. "Why didn't you do that before?" ----- [Sorry if I messed up Kuja's power use. I have no idea.]
6. I don't know if it is already being considered for the next version of OB or not, but I would like to suggest a Quick Edit feature as shown implemented at both Groupsounds and Neowin. When you just want to quickly edit a misspelled word, or something along those lines it is much nicer to be able to just click on quick edit and do it from the same page, I find. Just my two cents.
7. Nightblade and Tetros fought hand to hand in the cavernous hall. Nightblade had earlier emtpied his clip in the battle against Sheba, and this doppelganger of his appeared unarmed. Flurries of blows occurred each second, the two androids almost evenly matched. There was no clear advantage apparent, but Nightblade had experience that his doppelganger mightn't necessarily have. Plus he'd beaten Tetros before. The doppelganger leapt backwards from a kick Nightblade levelled at him, before springing back onto the wall. He leapt forward, arms extended, catching Nightblade in the throat and sending him flying across the room. He crashed into the metallic wall for the second time that day, and as he ran back towards his opponent a lumbering monstrosity emerged from the wall... another of Kaida's creations. It paid him no heed, instead heading towards it's creator and her doppelganger. Nightblade grabbed his doppelganger from behind, attempting to tear his head off, but was crushed against the wall when his doppelganger drove backwards. Standing back up, he leapt over the head of his foe, landing behind him again. With all the force he could muster he punched him right in the small of the back, sending him flying into the wall. He then dodged a hail of bullets from yet another war machine, and un-clipping a small device from his equipment belt, he slid on his back along the floor, between the robot's legs, he attatched the device to to it's underside. Hooking his arm around one of it's legs he pulled it off-balance and threw it across the room. A piercing whine was heard, and then the bottom half of the robot completely disappeared, disitengrating into billions of tiny particles. Nightblade's smile was removed by the appearance of an arm around his throat as the Tetros doppelganger whispered "Time's up". Nightblade flipped backwards, wrapping his left arm around his opponents neck. As he cannoned face first into the ground, they were again evenly matched, each having an arm around the other's throat. Nightblade grabbed another of the devices from his belt and groped blindly for his opponent's face. With a decisive punch he forced his closed fist into the doppelganger's mouth and partway down the replica throat. He let the device go, and dislodging his opponents hold on his neck, threw him in the direction of the half-ruined war machine. The doppelganger was destroyed in a firey explosion, as his internal systems were destroyed by the tiny bomb, which was powered by an infinitesimal speck of dark matter. Nightblade grinned, thankful for the powers of another of the Legionnaires, Astros. And then an inhuman, pain-filled roar shook the Temple to it's very foundations. Tetros did a double-take, and re-analysed what he had heard. It distinctly followed the speech wave-patterns of.... Unhate. It couldn't be.
8. Nightblade knew that the creature before him was not Tetros. Nightblade had personally destroyed the real Tetros, and there were certain design implementations that could still not be duplicated. It was but a shadow of the Temple's nightmares, but it seemed as if it knew enough about him to damage him. Would the others believe anything that it said? The seed of doubt was sometimes slow to spawn. But given the situation, survival was more important. Reassurance could occur later. The team spread out in a semi-circle, confronting their foes... themselves. Arachnid and Liquid were left un-matched, but joined the line. This was a team effort. But Liquid could still sense the malevolent presence slowly circulating in the chamber beyond. It tried to make itself seem like a little fish, but Liquid sensed behind it the great big smile of the predator in the shadows. There was an awkward pause, and then Nightblade felt himself be flung backwards at a tremendous speed. He crashed into the metallic wall, before falling to the floor. Not a mark marred the surface of the wall, but the Pandora doppelganger smirked at him. With a yell of anger Arachnid leapt forward, whipping a line of webbing around the doppelganger's legs before flipping up onto the ceiling, where he attatched the other end. With yet another smirk Pandora's doppelganger sent him flying away with a burst of power, before psychically cutting the webbing which held her upside down, and dropping lightly to the ground, slowly floating down the last few metres. It was five onto three, but the Legionnaires were wary. And then the doppelgagngers rushed them, as from the mirrored surface Sheba screamed and chittered.
9. I'm the kind of person who has a lot of extremes which might seem unusual when compared, things that might seem at odds with one another. See me in different situations and I can be an entirely different person. ... Actually, I just liked the title, and felt that it meshed well with banner and avatar set, so yeah. Nothing deep, but it sounds damn cool.
10.
Yeah, and then you realise people only managing a post a week are employed, or are in finals, or don't spend 80% of their time on the internet. 1 post a week is an amazing effort from some people.[/color']
A post a week is enough when you consider things like that, but generally speaking it should by no means take a week to scrape together enough time to write a post.
11. If, in a week, someone can't formulate a decent post, then they don't have enough time to participate in an RPG. If the gap is too long, people lose interest and drift away, and before you realise it you've been waiting three months for one person to post, but that person had forgotten about it until like, two hours before they posted it. Which means that three months was wasted. I think a post a week is even too few posts. To get four people to make two posts each you have just lost two months, lol. Obviously people are sometimes away or unavailable, but when the wait gets ridiculously long you have to cut your losses.
12. Oopsies, I kind of missed the fact that it was the Reds who have to choose who to vote out...
13. I hate to force it on someone, but seeing as Doukeshi didn't get any votes from anyone, I'd be happy to let her choose which of the two to vote off. If she doesn't want it though, I guess we'll do a PM ring-a-round. [Although whoever voted me was obviously trying to vote off the strongest competition >_>] *ahem*
14. Not anime based, but I hope somebody likes it anyway. 15. Not quite what I had intended... I'd viewed it as all the doppelgangers [except Arachnid's, of course] coming out of the well. *shrugs*
16. Tetros felt the rumblings grow in strength, and called a warning to the team. Barely had he uttered the words than a grotesque re-arrangement was heard, and sounding like a million freight-trains screaming in distress, the corridor split. The Legionnaires were split into two groups by the reformation, and Tetros found himself hurtling down a near vertical shaft surrounded by four or five others. Tetros figured that the shaft would have to end eventually, and he assumed that none of the other Legionnaires would appreciate a 300kg android plowing into them, so unlike the others, who were attempting to grab a hold of the shaft's oddly smooth walls, he streamlined himself and attempted to be the first of the group to reach their... end destination. With a shuddering crash he flew out of the shaft, fists aimed downwards attempting to pummel through whatever he was about to hit. He hit water with a gigantic splash, and went straight down for almost thirty metres before slowing his descent. As he swam back towards the surface he grabbed hold of two people, dragging them up to the top where another two people were already climbing out of the... well, which it appeared to be. He found that he was holding onto Pandora and Kaida, whilst Arachnid and Liquid were crouched on the ground. Perfectly dry. As Tetros hauled himself over the lip of the well, he realised that none of the liquid was sticking to him. He was perfectly dry. On closer inspection it appeared that it wasn't water after all. It was slightly reflective, but of roughly the same viscosity as water. Tetros had never seen such a substance before, and taking out a small vial from his equipment belt he scooped up some of it and secured it tightly on his belt. The Arbiter could be interested in this. As Kaida pulled herself out of the well, torches along the side of the room burst into flames. Arachnid flicked off his LED tube and moved towards the walls. He could only get within around 6 feet of them though, because a large ditch isolated the main floor onto a kind of island. On three sides of the room this ditch stood, the fourth side was taken up with yet another ornately carved golden door. But it was the content of the ditches which was most surprising. A crumbly white powder in some areas, but in others there were recognisable shapes. Bones. Some of them so old that they had degraded to bonemeal. The ditch surrounding the entire room which was maybe fifty metres long, and around half that in width, was filled to the brim with bones. Liquid had started in one corner of the room and was working her way around, examining the carvings. "These were all sacrifices. These people were killed to appease some local God, in this temple.... in the aim of... getting dark clouds out of people's heads." Kaida muttered something softly. "Sorry, what did you say Kaida?" asked Liquid. "The dark clouds in people's heads were nightmares." "Hhmm, you could be right" Liquid mused, as she resumed examining the walls. In another corner of the room Arachnid and Tetros were crouched. They were on the fourth side with the door, and in the corner of that wall the ditch ended. There was a fine mesh grate, and beyond that a large drainage hole. It was crusted with red powder. Tetros wiped his finger through the powder and examined it. It was blood. Tetros stood and announced to the group "These weren't just sacrifices, these were blood sacrifices. And I don't believe that the villagers were sacrificing to some metaphysical god. They were sacrificing to the temple itself. And yet again, we must follow the blood and continue downwards." At that moment a splash was heard. Turning towards the well, the team looked in disbelief as a hand grabbed onto the lip of the well, and strained to pull itself further up.
17.
Just to copy a certain smirk Baron... We won! HAHAHA!
What do you mean?? *innocent* Passable work Bravers >_>
18. The group had fallen silent, each reflecting on the creature they had just triumphed over when Kaida let out a low moan. She had fellen to her knees, and was running her fingrs along the tiny drainage depressions on the platform, and then daubing the blood onto her face. Tears streaked her face and she was muttering under her breath. The blood swirled and glowed where she touched it, and flowed to refill the points she took it from. Melinoe looked somewhat alarmed "We need to get her out of this room, and quickly... the creature might be destroyed but the platform itself has witnessed too many horrible things to be completely safe.... it's getting to Kaida." Arachnid stepped forward and picked Kaida up, following Melinoe as she led the team through the ruined doors that had once stood behind the altar. Kaida kicked and struggled, still crying freely. The flickering light from the LED tubes that the team carried with them gave her face a pale and diseased appearance, and with Sheba's blood streaked onto her face the effect was positively disturbing. It was then that she began to fit. Melinoe glanced back at the struggle Arachnid was having holding onto the now manic Kaida, who was spitting and cussing in a male voice, accusing herself and the team of horrible deeds. "We've got to get her further away from the platform, and quickly. It's power has tainted this corridor for quite some distance... she will recover, but the key thing is that we move fast" Melinoe said. Unhate took the lead with Melinoe by his side, and the rest of the team following. Eventually Melinoe told Tetros to take hold of Kaida's head whilst Arachnid carried her. "Put your hand in her mouth and grab hold of her tongue. Don't let her bite it off, because whatever force is currently tormenting her will take pleasure in causing pain." Tetros held her neck still with one hand, and forced the other inbetween her teeth. She attempted to bite his fingers but to no avail. Arachnid, who was was carrying her around his back had a secure hold of her arms and legs, as she was frantically trying to kick and scratch him. As the team moved further down the corridor, it began to slope down and grow rather damp and humid. Kaida eventually stopped fitting, and her struggles died down. She opened her eyes and began trying to speak. Tetros took his hand out of her mouth, wiping it on his uniform, and Kaida asked to be put down. She staggered slightly as she stood, but she straightened and taking her canteen, cleansed her face of the blood. Looking at the team they could see that the old Kaida was back, if somewhat.... disheartened. "Let's keep moving".
19. Krystal and Fox skidded to an abrupt halt as they came pelting around the corner. There in front of them, kneeling on the ground was Lara, who had a strong hold of a fistful of Crash's shirt. Right in front of them was this leering monstrosity. A big slab of rock, with tiny glowing coals for eyes, and a mouth big enough to eat the whole team... well, whole. Lara and Crash got to their feet and backed away towards the two foxes. Once the group had reformed, they got into a huddle to try and decide what to do. But it was a bit awkward with the rock creature grinning and watching, so they shuffled around the corner for some privacy. Crash and Fox wanted to charge it, and give it a good thrashing, hyped as they were on adrenaline. The two females of the group had more level-heads though, and suggested that the team approach it cautiously. Although it certainly appeared malevolent, it hadn't actually done anything to attack them. The team approached the creature, but although it turned to follow them as they edged past, it made no move to attack. It's "expression", as such, never changed, just that same grin. Crash even began to feel slightly affectionate about "Rocky" as he thought of him. But, enough of that. A new problem confronted them. A big-red-studded-door kind of problem. It had no discernible lock or handle. It was just a door. Crash figured that he, as Theif, ought to try and do something worthwhile now... he reached out to begin feeling the door for concealed handles or locks, but as soon as he touched the door, 'Rocky' let loose with a deafening roar. The Adventurers spun around, only in time to drop to the ground to avoid a devastating burst of flame. Rocky's leering grin now seemed all the more menacing, as the team felt a cool draft being pulled back towards his mouth. "Watch out, he's about to let loose again!" yelled Lara, and indeed no sooner had she said that then the team were forced to dive out of the way of another blast of flames. Fox then struggled to his feet and charged at the beast, swinging his sword wildly. It grated across the beast with a shower of sparks, and then Fox dropped it, holding onto his wrist. "Aargh, that nearly broke my arm, geez, it was like hitting a wall!" Krystal was aghast, but soon formulated a plan. Perhaps she could freeze the creature with her harp. Thinking very strongly of snow and glaciers, she began to idly strum the harp, determinedly avoiding thinking of the action, but rather trying to focus on cold things, and hoping that the magic would do the rest. Unfortunately, her thoughts didn't stay on the beast, as she watched Crash dodge another burst of flame. And Crash felt this icy coldness on his stomach, and he pulled out the now glowing, newly frozen tennis racquet. "What the hell?" The tennis racquet was doubly powered, with Eternal Blessing and Krystal's new freezing spell... and without thinking, Crash volleyed a ball of flame straight back at Rocky. As he hit, a small bar appeared floating over the creature's head. It was about a fifth of the way down. Crash grinned. He could do this. He replied to another pillar of flame, before the monster turned to Lara. She leapt away from a pillar of flame, and turned just in time to catch the racquet Crash had thrown to her. She back-handed a ball of fire back at Rocky, taking him down to the halfway mark. He then began to rumble, and spun on the spot. Lara barely avoided a tongue of flame which burst out as Rocky spun around on the spot. He made three rotations before coming to a stop. He took aim at Krystal, who caught the racquet one-handed and just barely managed to return the shot. Once again the big rock began to spin, with a tongue of flame. The Adventurers alternately jumped over or ducked under the flame. He came to a stop facing Crash, who caught the racquet from Krystal. But enexpectedly he turned towards Fox, and with no hesitation sent a ball of flame in his direction. With fantastic speed Crash ditched the racquet at Fox, who caught it awkwardly in his left, non-strained, hand. The racquet caught the flame at an angle however, and the flaming metor shot around the corridor, bouncing off the walls and door before flying back into Rocky's mouth. Rocky began to spin faster and faster before he spun right through the floor, and disappeared from sight. The red studded door before them opened....
20. Crash began to sweat as he felt himself being pulled closer to the edge. He felt his grip on Lara's ankle begin to slip, as he fought for a sturdy foothold. His feet found something stronger to wrap around, which they promptly enveloped. "Crash, watch it, you almost tripped me over!" Krystal yelled, as she kicked Crash's feet off. Grabbing them, this time with her hands, she lay flat on the ground to distribute their combined weight across as much of the bridge as possible. She had been having difficulty carrying her harp in the crook of her arm, so she had carelessly thrust her arm between two of the strings to save her having to hold onto it. As she lay stretched out on the bridge, the wind picked up, and before her eyes three of the strings began to hum. They glowed softly, and the weight of the three people before her began to lessen. A sudden gust caused the harp to glow even brighter for an instant, and with a tug, Krystal hauled back on Crash, who was now at least two-thirds lighter to pull. With a yelp Lara and Fox were dragged back onto the bridge. Lara turned around, still lying flat out on the bridge. "Good work, muscles" she jibed to Krystal. Krystal blushed, pleased with herself, and her new magic harp. The Adventurers progressed slowly along the bridge, with only one more tense moment where Lara's foot broke through a rotten board to disturb their journey. On the other side of the canyon, the Adventurers found a campsite which had obviously just recently been evacuated. Racing down the path leading out of the campsite, the group came to a T-junction. Up ahead was a signpost. It had three available options. Bowserz Carsel, Bigg Gap and Kooppa Villej. Crash triumphantly pointed at the signpost, and began walking in the direction of 'Bowserz Carsel'. The others began to follow him, but stopped when they saw Krystal reach out and gently touch the writing on the signpost. Her touch came away damp. "Guys, the signpost has been freshly painted.... that's not the right way. It must be down the Koopa Village road that we need to go." For confirmation, Lara picked up a handful of grass from the ground, and wiped it across the sign. Underneath they saw that indeed, the two sides had been switched. "Good spotting Krystal" remarked Fox.
21. Rip-off? Maybe so, though I didn't directly source it from anywhere. But it's not as if "scary hallucinations representing as physical manifestations" is a completely original topic.
22. It's been going for five days, and we have eight left to go. I hardly view 6 or 7 posts on the subject an inordinate amount. If we continue at this rate, we'll make around 4-5 pages, which is 60-75 posts. I think we'll probably do around 60 odd posts. I don't view this detour as extraordinarily long. This is a ceature that has been around for centuries. Takuya's post might have been somewhat forced, but without it, the battle did end too quickly. There is no need for anyone's panties to get into a knot. Plenty of time and posts left for other things.
23. Tetros let loose a storm of bullets at the monstrosity before them, but she took no notice. She was bleeding from numerous wounds on her body, but she wasn't anywhere near down. She was tough and wily.... a creature such as Sheba always made enemies, as the morass of scars criss-crossing her bloated form surely testified. If she were to defeat them now, soon they would be no more than a dim memory to her. They were but fleeting. Tetros soon emptied his clip, and as he reached for another one, he realised that he was out. Not a good time to run dry. Running low behind the other members of the group he made his way to Liquid's side. "Liquid, is it possible for you to try and freeze or cool the creature's blood? If you could freeze it, then it would probably die, but if you can't do that, then just cooling it down should help to slow her reflexes." Liquid frowned, and then shrugged. "I've never attempted it before, but I could give it a shot..." Tetros darted back around the platform, trying to get around to the creatures side. As he angled around for it's legs, he saw Liquid tense up, and begin to sweat, standing very still towards the back of the group. The creature hissed and shook it's head, as if wrestling with a tangible foe. Liquid's eyes shot open, and she collapsed to the ground, pale and shaking. But the break in concentration was all that Tetros needed. He dived forward, grabbing onto the spider's legs. With enough force to snap a pylon he grabbed the leg in both hands and bent it. As he strained, the creature stabbed at him with one of it's other legs, scraping down Tetros' back but not doing any internal damage. The work that Liquid had done was evident though, because as Tetros snapped the leg joint and rolled away for the cover of the group, the spider turned woozily around, dragging its now broken leg behind. It shook it's head as if to clear itself before making a lumbering charge across the platform. It was a lot more unweildy now, but proved that it had agility and strength yet, when it leapt off the altar and scuttled up the wall, screaming obscenities in some ancient language. Turning, it glared at the group, before leaping off it's perch, heading for the luckless Arachnid.
24. You never know Sandy, you never know... :p Nice post Takuya.
25. I had intended Sheba to be a big spider thing. What else lives in caves, has many eyes and joints, and hunts in the dark? But hey, whatever. This RPG is all about adapting :p
