I'm worried that you credit me with too much, but thanks, and good luck to you too Retribution ^_^; The Crowd Swirled And Bloomed In The Dark Of The Theatre

When you type your myO username, are you using a space or an underscore? Because when you log in, you actually use a space, not an underscore, I am pretty sure. I had the same issue a few months ago.
The Perfect Idea by Tical Okay, what say name changes are only allowed to happen once every four months. This will work as the people who actually go about changing their names do so even more often than that so this would be a great time interval. It's not like the whole sit would go about changing theor names evry 4 months, I mean, how many people change their names as it stands? As for notification, how about replacing the member titles with former usernames? Or just put the under the member title.
The Perfect [Stolen] Idea by Tical, lol. Have you read any of the other posts in this thread? The X months between changes, and the display of former title in the postbit have both already been suggested, lol. I'm sure that there are some people who are really glad that you have name changing facilities :p
-
That's a great idea Dagger. I'm just wondering if it would be easy to miss the icon, and if the postbit for birthdayers could instead be coloured alternately - like blue or something, which would be a lot more obvious.
-
It would also seem to me like you lost the argument because all that you had to support yourself was your own opinion, and now you're just complaining about that. Thinking yourself above being wrong is one sure way to be attacked, because it's the perfect reason to take you down, lol.

:p I forgive you
Well, I like Hevn's idea. If they miss the Name Change day, too bad, it's a privilege. And the day would be announced well in advance anyways so they can plan for it.
That is an incredibly selfish way to view it, I'm afraid.

Two or three allowable name changes a year is a good idea. Two or three name-change days a year is a bad idea. Not everyone can get online every day. Having a profile area [that also displays 'Changes Left'] where you can change your username is a better way to do it.
-
I know what you put there. Thank god they didn't work :p
Though, I dunno if this has been suggested before...?
... I did :(

Their saved game file was erased, but fortunately, they have a hard copy back on disc ;) -
>_< true that. But they don't have to know its every 500 posts. Or you could make it once every 6 months, I dunno.
And then you'll see people going "heeey y cant i change mi name its not fair i dont no how 2 plz tell me now i wanna change it!!!1" Really, the name change system should be designed for fair use. If a person attempts to change their name three times within, say a month, then the system blocks them from changing for six. The only thing I'm concerned about with time limits [which appear to be the only other fair way] is that it will become a sort of "as soon as I get my next name-change set I'm changing to _______ ".

Gaming Online Morals....have we lost them?
Baron Samedi replied to Gelgoog Pilot's topic in Noosphere
I love my FPS, never been much into MMORPG's, and I have only rarely had issues with people. I play Battlefield Vietnam, and Battlefield 2, and generally the people are pretty good. In particular Battlefield 2 is excellent, with the formation of squads and such, the whole teamwork thing is vastly improved. Total strangers just work together to accomplish their goals. I am generally a squad leader, and often find myself leading these people [who may or may not be on my squad] into bases etc. and it is really friendly environment. On the other hand, you occasionally get people who will hop in a jeep with you, and when you get out to capture the flag, they'll just drive off. Or worse, when there is a group of people waiting for aircraft [generally on a map where you're stuck on the carrier and need to get to shore] people will kill you over the vehicles. I had actually hopped in a jet one time, when a guy used his sniper rifle to shoot me through the canopy. That kind of behaviour really aggravates me. -
But really, is allowing members to change their names themselves such a good idea? I think it would actually be rather annoying - if you give people added facilities to do something like this, there is always the concern of people who will change their names every day and abuse the feature. The fact that they need to PM an Admin to have their name changed, means that they won't be changing it every day, in a way, because the administrators will tell them to cut it out. Usernames should, to my mind, be a relatively permanent and long-living thing. It defeats the purpose of recognisability to change your name three times a day, just because you had this cool new idea.

"Does one of us really need to hold onto it?" Crash questioned "I mean, it's not like there is anyone else here on Solitary Island, is there? Perhaps on challenges it might occasionally be useful to have along, but personally I know I wouldn't want to cart around some... paperweight. I can't see us using it constantly, to tell you the truth." A few of the others nodded in agreement. "But anyway, I'm exhausted from that challenge. If I ever see another lemming, it'll be way to soon, trust me." With that Crash turned and walked back to his hut on the beach. Stepping inside he took off his shoes and shorts, which he switched for a pair of gaudy yellow and green boardshorts. Waving to Lara and Fox as they passed him on the way to their huts, Crash walked down to the water's edge and dived into the beautiful aquamarine depths of the Sea of Stereotypes. He paddled out to the centre of the lagoon, and lay on his back, enjoying the gentle rocking of the waves, and the pleasant buzz that the sun bought to his face.

I'm just wondering what kind of time-frame we're looking at for all the current missions finishing off? It has been three months [to the day] since this thread was opened after all :)

Request Game ON! Krystal Banner and Avatar Request
Baron Samedi replied to Solo Tremaine's topic in Creative Works
This might seem a bit odd, but I have some things that I think you should change, lol. You've done a really good job of this, except for these few things. So, maybe consider these improvements, if Solo agrees? 1) Remove the typo: it is Krystal, not Kyrstal. 2) Font choice. Those are, to be frank, not very good fonts. Get rid of the OB Survivor completely, and possible 'Game ON' too. Find another font for "Solo Tremaine as Krystal" and shift it down onto the white area. Perhaps remove the emboss effect on the text too. Once again, I do apologise for how this must come off... I feel quite odd doing it, but these are just a couple of things that I thought could improve upon the banner and make it look better. Great work on the avatar though: it's really nice ^_^ Edit: This is for Katana. Why did you post right then Lrb?!?! lol. -
Crash's mouth hung open. Damn, that 'hog was a speedy bastard!! Snapping back to consciousness, he noticed a line of lemmings sidling along the edge of a wall and then darting around the corner. Curious, Crash followed them around the corner. The entire passage was slick with ice, and sloped down at a steep angle, before levelling out. The straight was maybe five metres long, but beyond that it disappeared down into a chasm, which was itself about three metres wide. And as Crash watched, two little lemmings took a running jump and shot down the slickly-coated surface, off the edge and down, to god-knows-where. But it probably involved spikes. The other five lemmings were running in a line towards the slope. Crash chased them, and took a flying leap, managing to grab one of the critters. Unfortunately he too slid down the across the corridor....and down the slope. He struggled to his feet and crouched down low, gaining on the remaining four ahead of him. This wasn't so different from many of his other adventures. He just hoped none of those damn penguins were around. Reaching out he scooped up three more of the lemmings. The chasm was approaching fast, so Crash made another desperate grab for the last lemming, who tried to push his hand away. Crash just made contact when he was forced to jump. He hung for a second in mid-air, and had this ghastly thought that maybe he had misjudged, and wouldn't make it to the other side. It was a close thing, but he landed with a crash [pun intended!] and skidded down the corridor, rolled protectively around the lemmings. As he came to a stop he proudly counted the lemming in his hands. One... two...three... four... ... Looking behind him, Crash saw a disturbing smear along the corridor. He guessed that meant he didn't have a good enough grip of the last lemming. Oops. But now what was he meant to do? Crash walked back to the edge of the gap and called out to his team-mates. "Uuh, guys?! Could I have some help down here?"

When you get a name-change, it is customary to make note of it in your signature. Additionally, your previous username is also displayed in your profile. If you maintain the same banner and avatar for a few weeks after that, the transition should run pretty smoothly, heh.
I know what you guys mean, I'm absolutally terrible at humor posts, but I thought Baron had a really good post, and I thought the pac-man thing was funny too. ^_^
Thank'ee KKC :) I'm really enjoying this, heh. -
Crash was endeavouring to hold onto as many lemmings as he could, when he felt vibrations rumble through the ground. He turned and saw that Fox had made a small crater in the wall, and was frantically grabbing lemmings left, right, and center and frantically stuffing them in the hole. Crash sprinted over, crushing a few of the beasts, before throwing his armload into the wall-crater. What could they use to cover the hole up with though? His gaze turned towards the unconscious Pac-creature...perfect. "Fox, can you help me lift this useless lump into position? We can use him to fence the lemmings in and stop them from escaping" Propping the semi-comatose [but recovering] Pac-man on the corpses of some... unfortunately deceased lemmings, they managed to seal the hole in the wall off. There was muffled scrambling and shrieking from inside, but it worked. Everyone got to work scooping up as many lemmings as they could find, and jamming them into the makeshift container. Sorry I was away for a few days team. Finished exams, and then went away for the weekend. But I'm back, and on school holidays, so expect to see more of me. [Love the Lemmings idea Sandy :p] -
Crash was getting frustrated. He was getting very frustrated. No matter what he did, these little lemmings [who did remind him so much of baby bandicoots] kept on discovering new and more shocking ways to die. And boy, were they desperate. He could have sworn that he saw two lemmings pick up another one and throw it through a slit in the side of an incinerator. Mere seconds later, a shrill little yelp emitted from the grimy black inside. As he saw the two lemmings grab another one to do the same trick with, Crash double-jumped over the top of Shadow's crowded head and plucked the confused little creature out of mid-air. "Got you, you stupid bastard" he cackled, before scooping up the two 'lifters' on the ground. "Hey Shadow mate, catch these!" Shadow hurriedly holstered his gun, but only managed to catch two of the critters. The third twisted his body, bounced along the ground, and then fall into... a piranha infested swimming pool? What was this, death-trap-city? It reminded Crash of the river levels with the snapping bone-piranha. And those horrid Venus fly-trap plants.... Unfortunately, no sooner had he thought of this, than a mound of earth pushed it's way up from the bricks on the floor, and a giant purple bulb appeared. Shaking clumps of earth from it's head, the plant lunged forward and snatch up a lemming from the ground. Crash spun and jumped at the Venus fly-trap, decimating it. Unfortunately he landed on two lemmings, but he'd saved some at least, right? A piercing whistling grew as he tried to scoop some more lemmings away from a firepit. As he glanced up to the distant recesses of the ceiling, he could swear that a grand piano was hurtling from it's upper reaches. Crash slid across the ground, knocking a group of lemmings out of the way, mere seconds before the piano smashed into the ground. Crash sat up and shook his head to clear the echo in his ears. That was a close thing.
I remember when I first joined myO, in August of 2003. And the way I made my friends was through that Random Member button selection. And now, it's gone. I was wondering why you guys decided to take that out?
I don't know... I never even realised it was gone. But I'm sure it isn't that hard to pick some random member, lol.
