Expect Fireworks when NASA blows up comet

I know it was accidental Roxie ~_^ But the development of the information and further discovery and investigation as to why and how it works was what I was referring to. And I'd like to further support what James said about throwing money at the problem. The $100 million that was raised by the initial Live Aid cleared Africa's debt for... a month, I believe. It covered their costs for a month. Simply raising money and sending it to them is not enough to have any real impact. The problem is with the structure and corruption in many third-world countries. They need the help to be able to start from scratch and build up their economies, rather than being sent transfers with which they can only consume, instead of produce. -
Your writing style could be lifted a tad Adahn. Great for an oral presentation, but perhaps not suited for all mediums :p I too have considered the issues that are involved with trying to put yourself in another's 'shoes'. You look at someone in the street, and you realise just how impossible it is to really relate to people. You cannot ever know what it feels like to be them, or what their life is like. It's closed to us. But I think that the progenitor's intentions were to remind us that we can't know where other people have come from, and how they got there. We therefore cannot judge people because we don't know what they've been through to become how they are. The saying preaches tolerance.
Sara/Sarah are both common.
:p Pimpage, hmm? Anyway, a question I immediately felt when I read your post was: why can't you think of one yourself. I'm not saying this to be mean, but as somebody who is about to have a baby, you'd think that perhaps asking an internet website full of teenage anime fans mightn't be the best idea. It's your baby and so the burden and honour of naming her falls on you. It is one of the first duties of parenthood. We can't help you, you need to learn to do it yourself.

Fortunately, these guys are professionals who have nice big computers to help, and have probably checked their calculations a dozen times from scratch. As for the atomic bomb thing, they want to examine the material to see if it contains information about how the solar system was formed. Not only will it be composed of elements we already know about, but the extraction progress is rather difficult...don't you think? And thankfully there is more than one group of scientists performing research into things ~_^ -
I'd like to apply, but I will be away for the next week and a half, pretty much. And I'm not sure how long I'll be able to stick with it, although I would certainly like to. Name: Steven Howard Age: 33 Gender: M Assignment: Maintenance Technician Personality: Steven is relatively quiet in new situations, but has a definite penchant for sick humour. He often creeps people out, particularly women, as he has the reputation of being a bit of a pervert. Tends to be a loner, but fits in well with people of his own ilk, and often sucks up to those in charge. Appearance: Tall and lanky, often described as weedy and scrawny. He doesn't shave often enough, and the same could probably be said for showering. He has thick, greasy black hair which is around shoulder height. His face is pitted from childhood acne, and he has a scar above his left eyebrow from a brawl with another man over a woman. Biography: In his eyes, the scar defaces what he perceived to be a 'beautiful' and 'attractive' face. He bears a definite grudge to the man who scarred him. As a kid he was often bullied and isolated, because he was different. Not an intellectual, and not a charmer, he has little going for him. His practical mind is very good however, and he is a whiz with electronics. Because of the bullying he received as a child, he has a definite attitude that the world owes him. Until recently, he occupied a researcher's position at Harmony Technologies, but the lucrative offer of a great wage for the Black Horizon salvage mission drew him away. Not to mention the chance to get a first-hand view of the legendary BLAX-Weir Anti-Matter Propulsion engine.

I know that there is a large proportion of CD listeners out there, but for those more into the digital factors [read: HD music], what are your top 10 most highly played songs? I believe WinAmp allows you to check quite easily, and for WMP you can make a new automatic playlist and set a reasonably high benchmark for playcount. 1: Symphony #9 - Beethoven: 229 times 2: Wake Up Hate - Korn: 175 times 3: Got The Life - Korn: 156 times 4: Ambulance vs. Ambulance - The Blood Brothers: 143 times 5: March On Electric Children - The Blood Brothers: 141 times 6: Supercombo Electronico - Plastilina Mosh: 111 times 7: Die All Right - The Hives: 84 times 8: Not Many - Scribe: 83 times 9: The Beautiful People - Marilyn Manson: 82 times 10: We Bite - The Misfits: 79 times

I don't imagine firing a 350kg copper probe directly into the path of a comet half the size of Manhattan and hitting it will pose much of a problem, to be honest. If you don't think that they can accurately predict the trajectory of both parties, then you're in denial. Vectors, anyone? But I'd like to run with what Frankie said for a minute. What use is there in finding out stuff? What use is there in researching phenomena or facts that you are unaware of... Penicillin, nuclear reactors, atomic structure, computers, magnetic fields, chemical reactions, electricity, plastic. Just a couple of obviously useful things that research has discovered. Maybe it doesn't worry you, or doesn't interest you, as to where we came from and how the solar system originated. But the fact is, it is an important and worthwhile discovery. Closing your eyes and blocking your ears does not make the rest of the world cease to exist . -
Yeah, I know. It might've been a good idea earlier, but seeing as we're going to be getting some new stuff [Goodo!], it would be quite redundant to distribute it at this stage, and risk nullifying designer's work, or constricting certain elements of the new design to using images and dimensions from the old design.

Expect Fireworks when NASA blows up comet
-Scientists hope the July 4 collision will gouge a crater in the comet's surface large enough to reveal its pristine core and perhaps yield cosmic clues to the origin of the solar system. -Comets -- frozen balls of dirty ice, rocks and dust -- are leftover building blocks of the solar system after a cloud of gas and dust condensed to form the sun and planets 4 1/2 billion years ago. As comets arc around the sun, their surfaces heat up so that only their frozen interiors possess original space material. -This suggests that the comet's inside holds some of the pristine material of the early solar system.
Any words you don't understand, just ask. -

Discovering the composition and nature of comet's could be quite a significant discovery. They can't land anything on the surface, so really, what is so wrong about crashing something into it? It's not even the space shuttle itself that they're crashing into it, but rather a probe the size of a barrel. The $333 million price tag is not merely for the impactor. It covers everything from wages to launching, to technology etc. This thing orbits between Mars and Jupiter, so it is a long way away. If you somehow think that they're just going to stick something in it's path without examining all the possible ramifications and outcomes, then you need to wake up and smell the coffee. They can say that it won't hit Earth, because they would have studied all the outcomes meticulously. I think that this operation has tremendously important possibilities, and is a worthwhile effort. -

Roxie darling, I wasn't saying that you would want a 1000 character limit. What I was doing was manipulating your post to show how it all depends on where you're coming from as to what is restrictive. As long as there is a limit, there will always be a situation where it's not quite enough, and people will want more space so they can just fit in those last few words. As I said, I wasn't having a go at you, I was showing you another point of view.

This idea has been brought up so many times that I could pretty well much tell what the response was going to be. So for the fifth or so time, I'll add that an image file containing all graphics for OB which could quickly be switched with the OB mule would be a relatively easy and 'cost-free' method of skinning. Distribute the OB graphics folder, and wait for the skinners to get to work.

I thought I'd like to make a point. Just re-read Roxie's post as I quoted underneath, and notice my editing of it.
Well I just wasted 30 minutes trying to condense my signature in every way possible while still being readable and having it fit under the 750 character limit, and I still didn't get everything to fit in. (I just wanted to add one freaking line to it) This isn't the first time I've had problems with the limit, either. A couple times before I've spent around 20 minutes trying to condense a signature to fit into this character length. (Case in point: I specifically remember fiddling around with the AHB advertisement to fit in the description and the banner. I think I ended up condensing the actual file name to be within the 750 character limit.). To be honest, I don't really remember signatures being out of control, even when there was no character limit (well, there was a 300 character limit a while back but at least on my machine it never worked). I'm not asking for something crazy like 1500 characters (that's approx. twice my current length), but perhaps something around 900-1100 characters to allow for just a little extra. I'd also like to point out that ultimately, whether you make the character limit 200 or 1000, there will always be someone to go around making their signatures the longest things in existence by putting every word on a different line. Generally we have good members with common sense, so I don't see the harm in loosening the character length a little bit. I'm sure to some of you, especially moderators and admins, it seems a little ludacris to be getting worked up by a character length on a message board, but it is important to me, and besides, on the flip side of the coin, isn't imposing a 750 character restriction for signatures getting worked up over them, too? ^_^ P.S.: Oh, and by the way, just to let you know, the restriction doesn't even work right. According to TWO outside sources that I used, I'm at 798 characters as of this moment. At one point when I finally fit in everything I wanted to, I was at 748 and it kept telling me that I was 750 characters. Evil I say, evil! ><
If you want to type in other alphabets like Chinese or Arabic, there isn't necessarily a set way you can do it, because of Languages that others may or may not have installed on their system. You shouldn't be writing your posts in another language, so I am assuming that you want to know how in order to show somebody something? If so, do it in Word and attach it to your post.

If you don't like the guy who is sending you the chainletters, block him. Or better yet, if you use Hotmail, class them all as junk and report him. But really, I hink you should just calm down. It takes less than thirty seconds of your life to skim an email to see if it's junk or not, and then delete it. Big deal. Sure, chainletters are annoying. But in the end, if nobody forwards them, they don't become chainletters. Blame it on the people who forward the same crap five hundred times.

Does anybody else find it amusing that practically everyone here classified themselves as being unique and 'Unlabelable', whilst everyone else at their school was practically carbon-copied from stereotypical moulds? Does it lead anybody else to the conclusion that perhaps everyone is unique, and that the only reason stereotypes are applied to people is because of their outward appearance and manner, but not necessarily the person beneath the trappings?

That's pretty cool. Nice gallery you have there. I don't do anything like that [in regards to fire-twirling or juggling or anything] but I always have a degree of envy for people who can. How long have you been practicing for?

Ok, so there is a hill. But what we see, and what we feel isn't the original hill. As we climb it, the brushing of the grass on our legs is not what grass feels like. The chill we recieve from the wind blowing westwards is not what it actually feels like, and what we see when we reach the crest of the hill is not what it really appears. We do not run out of breath, because air itself is not what we percieve it to be. Hunger and pain are not what we percieve it to be. Now, what? Oh, and Chabichou, I'm not sure how to answer what you've said. What I was saying was that we have no guarantee that the yellow we see is the yellow another sees. We cannot know what another person feels. When that person gets a nail-gun fired through their hand, we know that it hurts. But do we know how much it hurts in comparison to what we may feel? Are things that we percieve to be universal truths perhaps subjective? Think about taste, for example. I hate brussel sprouts, but not everybody does. Are they tasting the same things? That is arguable.

I play a fair amount of sport, get a fair few A's, have a large friend group, work out, flirt, spend a lot of time online, and I listen to rock music. What does this make me? You can look at someone and easily classify them accoridng to their appearance. However, the further you delve into them, and their lives, the more wrong you realise you were. Stereotype, sure. But don't let those stereotypes affect your perceptions of people too much.

Good work. I am useless at making stuff with my hands, so it's great to see someone who is physically creative. Nice work =) -
Ima- You need a wider border. Two pixels would suffice, but it does need to be wider, to define the pale colours. Thin white + thin light pink chaos = not good. I don't think there was any call for you to say 'some people aren't familiar with Motion Blur'. Regardless of what you did, it is to the detriment of your banner. When you have nothing clean in your design already, something should be left to stand out. Contrast draws the eye to the key element of the banner. Oh, and the font is not elegant, and disappears too much into the banner. Sorry. Sun- "I Want More" "One Emotion"... what is it, greed? Is that really what Link wants? I don't think so. Also the "I Want More" font seems... inappropriate. In addition to your lack of message, the font is...too harsh for the banner, I feel. Great stock work, and a nice contrast between the background and the focus. The banner background could do with removing the greyish portions...and just leave the primary white and green. Might look a bit better. In conclusion, neither of your banners are anything new. This style has been around since 2000? If you've seen one you've seen them all. Rising Sun, you get my vote, but yeah... ~_^
