1. To be honest, I think it's an implausible idea. Deviantart for one makes money; they sell memberships, they have advertisers and lots of traffic, and they sell prints. They're doing quite well for themselves, and even though it costs people to fly to the summit and stay there, it's costing DA a lot to run as well. In the end though, they're there for creative purposes, and to give DA even more exposure. Now, take a look at OB's or mO's client base. Actually, client isn't even the word. We're a free membership. But, not only that, many of us are under 18, and consequently, would probably be unnallowed to fly across the nation/world to meet up with people from an internet site. Not without parents at least. And when you factor that in, along with air-fares, hotel expenses, food.....it's not going to happen on a big scale. Nor, indeed, any OB-run scale.
2. I'm not going to say whether he's Guilty or Not. As people who are uninvolved in the case, it's not really our place to say so. All you guys are spouting are media conjecture and misconceptions. But, when you think about it, if Jackson gets sent to jail, so should the 'witnesses' to his child molesting. They didn't say anything for 14 years, but now all of a sudden the guilt is too much for them? Accessories after the fact, anyone?
3.
Well, when you're young and a girl, chest size would play a pretty big role.
... Or not ~_^
4. I think some people are confusing popularity with the 'cool' factor. You don't need to dress in expensive clothes to be popular but you'll find that a lot of the kids who you may think of as being 'cool', do. Popularity all relates to if people like you. Thats it. Do you get on well with most people? Do you speak to every other person in the hallway? Do you have a large circle of close friends? If so, then the odds are you're popular. Coolness is a different thing entirely though. You don't need to have many friends, in fact, the general thing is that you only consort with a bunch of elite 'cool' kids....because, if you're cool, you're too cool for anyone else. Popularity and cool are different things.
5. Question of the hour: Casual gamers injure you...how? Basically, I feel like telling anyone who gets uppity about casual gamers to piss off. Just because some people enjoy beating games, and only that, doesn't make them worse than you. People are different, as any three year old could tell you. It's not like they're hurting you, or somehow reducing any enjoyment you get from playing your games..is it?
6. Granted Tony, it was a stupid thing to say. I'd only heard the expression that day, and I thought it was an appropriate place to voice it. Had I thought about the actual consequences of it? No, not really. It was just a quote I'd heard earlier during the day, and it tickled me. Obviously I'm not for ripping off every album you have ever wanted. I do however acknowlege that there is a problem with people thinking "Hey, I'm only one person downloading music. They're not going to care about the pitiful amount of revenue they miss out on because I'm downloading." They fail to look beyond and realise that there are hundreds of thousands of people thinking the same thing.
7. Only very, very recently [as in around a month and a half ago] did I really get into Manson. I'd listened to some of it at Tony's site on his Flamplayer for a while, but during a camp I heard "Beauiful People" and thought that I'd seek out some of his music. After a while I got Golden Age Of Grotesque, and now I have 23 of his songs. Not many, I'll grant you, but hey. I enjoy the music. There are some parts of it I really love [his voice in some of them is amazingly awesome], I love guitar parts like in the beginning of s-AINT, or the drum-roll styled parts leading back into choruses. Some of his songs like "The KKK Took My Baby Away" are really slow...but most of his stuff is a decent pace. It isn't fast like Misfits or Lucas, but it is the right pace for the songs, lol. I haven't looked much into the deeper meanings behind his art or anything like that.... all I am doing is enjoying the music. And thats enough for me, heh. Currently my favourite songs would have to be "Bright Young Things" and "The Nobodies". But it was hard to single them out.
8.
If you can than be my guest. It woud be my fault for not taking the proper precautions. But it would be hard to hack my PC I have some nice firewals.
*smacks head against a wall* Dude, he was making a point. wristcutter isn't really going to hack your computer. But your foolish comments about the existence of computer files prompted him to make a very accurate comment. Just because you cannot physically point to your downloaded mp3s does not mean you haven't stolen the intellectual property of the artist.
9. I've always found it amusing to shut the door in old ladies faces. Yeah, thats right. ... Anyway, politeness is not wrong. Think about how you feel if someone holds a door open for you, or helps you in some other [n]non-invasive, but courteous way. Can you really say that it's wrong? Good on you for not succumbing to the morass of seething stupidity some people indulge in.
10. Under the circumstances, I firmly believe that Oscar should be forced to move out of his trashbin and into a proper home, so that children are not influenced to become homeless people. And Bert and Ernie should get their own apartments, because we don't want to encourage any possibility of homosexuality.
11. Sad I Am He thought about her most of the time. It was the thinking that was the worst. It made him so sad. But don?t be mistaken?he didn?t hate her. He still liked her. He always kept an eye open for her. But when he saw her, he did his best to ignore her. It?s Love Sickness.
12. Not as poignant as the original ending =\
13. I'd be more inclined to attribute it to wanting to rebel againts their parents and their lifestyles ;)
14.
Anyone ever stay on the computer all night and then get all mad when someone tries to tell you to go sleep in the morning because you're dead tired?
Dude...grow up. Find something else in your life, grow a brain, and get some respect for others.
15. I guess it depends on where you live as to the legality of suicide. But I'd say that the only reason they take people into custody is to try and stop them from committing it again. Have you ever heard of someone being sent to jail for attempted suicide? They send them to re-habilitation. To protect them, not as punishment.
16. Chabichou, Siren has said just about everything I wanted to say to you. Except that I'm sure you know better than all the doctors who oversaw Terri's condition, and gave her CAT scans... I'm sure you know much better. I have only one other point to make: Suicide is not illegal.
17. Skeletal Remains I stared at myself in the mirror, and bared my teeth in disgust. I was fat. No, I was obese! A danger to myself. I was disgusting. I ran through my mind, taunting myself. 'Lard arse, dough-girl'....and worse. Much worse. --- Jessica's parents cried in their living room. The prognosis was anorexia. Jessica was sick.
18. I honestly could not remember the hardest, so I'll just list a few games that really got my heart pounding and hands shaking. Prisoner of War quite literally has you jumping. The fear of getting caught by the guards is really intense. I haven't played the game in ages, but it was incredibly difficult in some areas. Crash Team Racing: Was it that one where there was Nitrous Oxide? He was an incredibly difficult last race, and whoever you raced on a Cloud Highway was a close second. I think it was Tiny. Now that I think of it, it's difficult to recall tough gaming moments. I'm not as hardcore as some of you here ;) But you know you've done something special when your hands shake as you set down the controller, or let go of the mouse.
19. When you first lay eyes upon someone, of course you judge them by their appearance. Inbred into you is an automated sequence, where you cast your values and standards against their appearance. It originally springs from the instinctive "Fight or Fly" mentality...where you assess a new object based upon what you believe. If I saw a scruffy person with dreadlocks, or if I saw a middle-aged woman in furs, there are certain cultural stereotypes that spring to mind, and these affect how you would initially deal with each of these people. If you'd argue that you'd treat them both the same, then fine, argue it. But I'm not going to believe you. Perhaps when you know a person, you don't judge them by their looks [appearances being decieving and all ~_^] but intial value judgements take place when you see a person, and that is a fact that you can't argue against.
20. Yeah, I download music. Not massive amounts of it, but I do. Am I justified? I don't know. I'm not going to buy their CD anyway, because I don't know enough of their music, and maybe I only like one or two of their songs. Or maybe I just wouldn't buy it anyway, and make do without. Thats my opinion on it. I do buy CD's, but only rarely, so any small amount of downloading I do doesn't make me feel bad. Also, a rather apt quote for this thread "Music downloading supports artists who perform live."
21.
I was watching the news earlier this morning and heard that the family and husband are still disputing each other consider the funeral, this disturbed me, even after the death of their family memeber and wife they still continue to bicker over small things that could be easily solved by sitting down and talking about it
Don't you think thats a rather näive statement? The husband and parents have been at loggerheads for so long, over a fundamental disagreement. The parents didn't want Terri to die that way, but you think it's all over? Just because she's dead doesn't mean that the differences and arguments between her husband and her parents will just stop.
22. We all knew he was going to die sometime in the past 24 hours. I'm not really sure why everyone is 'shocked' ~_^ But yes, it is very sad. He fought for a lot of causes, and had a massive effect on the world...even outside of religious factors. Mikael Gorbachev even credited him with helping to fell Communism [I think...]. So yes, it is a great loss.
23. I'm not a 'believer', yet I admire the Pope. He is truly a crusader for life. His tenacity and willpower will be remembered. He was truly a "Pope of the people".
24. hyper123, if you're very confused, what the hell are we supposed to be? Loving someone isn't wrong. The act of feeling love for another is a great thing. It's what you do with it that can be bad ~_^
25. As with everything, there are limits to what extent rules need be applied. As anatema said, if you know the rules, then you know the best ways to break them. Writing needn't be all about sticking solidly to the tenets laid out. Writing is a form of expression, a way to express your views/thoughts/opinions. You shouldn't have to be confined in how you write. As long as you observe the basic requirements of English, then that's all that matters. I liberally sprinkle my writing with comma's and semi-colons; and I think my tone conveys what I feel. I don't really care about the correct circumstances for using semi-colons or colons. And, I don't really think it matters either. Obviously, certain situations call for different tones of writing, but basic punctuation is all you need.
