Woah...that Baron Samedi dude sounds cool. ;) Great writing here Annie. I'd have to agree with Arcadia about that 'spammer' quote. That was choice, heh. I think that as you've been writing this, it has only gotten better, as you've come to 'feel' the characters more accurately. For example, you and Drix on the boardwalk, and the small details like Drix 'straightening his shorts' when he stands up. Your writing is very involving, and I love your style. Can't wait to see where this plot is headed ^_^; And I don't know about anyone else, but I realised that Drix was...pulling everybody's leg, metaphorically speaking, heh.

Riddles can thankfully exist without reality inserting a bias :p @Morpheus: A ring. My riddle: Two fathers and two sons went fishing one day. They were there the whole day and only caught 3 fish. One father said, that is enough for all of us , we will have one each. How can this be possible?

Request: Did we really go to the moon?
Baron Samedi replied to Roxie Faye's topic in General Discussion
Except for the fact that it would not [bolded for clarification] continue to ripple. Zeta, that's the fact of the matter. Sure, it may float, but it would be in stasis, it would not continue to ripple. -
For some people cutting is a valuable release. It gives them an 'out' from their...problems, and I guess it feels really good. I'm not supporting cutting; I think it is a really stupid thing to do. And people who do that have some problems. But in the end, there are a lot worse things you could be doing. Oh, and please clean up your spelling and stuff. It's a nightmare to read ;)

Stoker I could only stand and watch as the bodies were brought around, piled high in huge wooden carts, pulled by four of the other men. Capo?s in black leather jackets stood on the wagon, and threw the bodies down to the men on the ground. And as I stoked the fires, I ignored death?s call.

First week of Yr 11, and I'm already taking about an hour of a homework a night. But what can you do? If you don't want to get anywhere with your life, then you don't need to do it. And if you do, then shut up and get on with it. This'll be the easiest you're gonna have it. And that's all there is to the matter.

Elfpirate has my riddle right. I have no idea what planet you're living on though, junkobakaiba. Logic is teh shizz, lol. My riddle: Alice is walking throught the forest of forgetfulness. She wants to know what day of the week it is. She stops and asks a lion and a unicorn. Now the lion lies all of the time on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday. The unicorn always lies on Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Alice asks the lion what day it is, he says, "Well yesterday was one of my lieing days." Well Alice cant figure it out just from the Lions answer so she asks the unicorn and the unicorn says, "Yesterday was also one of my lieing days." What day is it?

Request: Did we really go to the moon?
Baron Samedi replied to Roxie Faye's topic in General Discussion
" Every object in a state of uniform motion tends to remain in that state of motion unless an external force is applied to it." Anyone here, feel free to correct me on this, because I'm confident in my position. But the force applied to the flag [i.e. it's motion] when he was 'wriggling' it from side to side as the flag was mounted, would be expended. The flag wouldn't keep waving. Waving, or rippling, requires a constant force. I know about rockets, because a body without the exertion of any other force upon it, will continue as it was. Such as a rocket. "Tremendously weak" the Moon's gravity may be, when compared to ours, but it is more than enough to cause a flag to hang down, lol. You're not the only person here who has studied physics. -
Not quite, Freude :) Oh, and the answer to your car one is "When it turns into a garage", lol.

Request: Did we really go to the moon?
Baron Samedi replied to Roxie Faye's topic in General Discussion

1) The flag waving really pisses me off. It is one of Newtons laws. It reads something like an object will stay in motion until acted upon by another force. With nothing to act against the flag, when they were twisting and turning it to set it up, it will continue to move since there is no outside force to stop it
Zeta, I don't know if you've already been hit for this, but if you don't know what you're talking about, please don't make it up. If gravity on the moon was that weak, then astronauts would fly off. There is plenty enough gravity on the moon to stop a flag from waving. And it wouldn't keep rippling for a long time because that requires constant force, and that law only applies if it is moving in one direction. But, you're wrong anyway, because the external force of the Moon's gravity is enough to make it hang. So, yeah. Wrong. And I do think the moon landing is true, though I've never seen the video. -
My riddle: How can you say - "Robert and Richard Purchased A Rotweiler" without using any R's?

A lemon and a melon. My riddle: Walk on the living, they don't even mumble. Walk on the dead, they mutter and grumble. What are they?

This has been asked before DarkOtakuBoy. I don't believe we ever got the answer though, and I can't think of it now...

Run Around Jane ?Don?t get out of the car? ?Good. Now drive away.? ?No, don?t reverse.? ?Don?t get out of the car.? ?Don?t go in there!? ?Don?t open that door!? ?Don?t look in that room!? ?Don?t see that bed!? ?Don?t let her break your heart.? ?Don?t do it again?? ?Don?t kill her.? ?Don?t get out of the car?? Run Along Jane The man sat in the car, breath steaming slightly, despite the air-conditioning. He seemed hesitant, yet at that precise moment he suddenly came to some internal resolution, and gunned the accelerator, speeding away from the Motel. Yet, his resolution faltered as he waited for that interminable length between the red light, and the green light. Run Away Jane His Jeep shot back down the driveway, and spun to a stop in the icy car- park. He leapt out of the car, leaving the keys still in the ignition. Despite the slickness of the icy coating upon the path, nothing could hold back his fury, as he kicked in the door of Room 12.

Delivery is everything. Admittedly, I'd be lying if I said I'd never done it, and a hypocrite if I told you that you shouldn't. But, there is a line, between friendly advice, and being too abrupt. Which is why, most of the time, I'd prefer to send a PM to the person.

Sandstone Keeps Falling On My Head... Overseer Tek gazed down, squinting his eyes against the harsh light reflected off the sand. Down below, in the valley, teams of slaves pulled massive sandstone blocks around, leaning deeply into their harnesses. Organised chaos, the very epitome of strength. This was the glory of The Pharaoh. Yet, as Tek watched, another team was buried.

Yep ^_^; That one was too easy. Now I want somebody else to post a riddle. It gets boring when I'm the only one posting them up, lol. Here is another one anyway though: Often held but never touched, always wet but never rusts, often bites but seldom bit, to use me well you must have wit. What am I?

Great work Freude! Watermelon it is. My riddle: I come in darkness, but fill the mind with light. I bring enlightenment to some, while gripping others in the hand of fear. With me it can be a journey of inexplicable joy and sorrow. What I will show you will often be unreachable. Journey with me and what you see may haunt you. Journey with me and you may never want to return home. Journey with me and you will never know when it will end. What am I?

Gaming What do you think of the games of 2005?
Baron Samedi replied to 2010DigitalBoy's topic in Noosphere
Even though I probably won't be getting it [Not enough time for serious gaming...] Oblivion by Bethesda [the same folks who made Morrowind], looks to be a stunner. I really enjoyed Morrowind, and from all reports Oblivion is going to be mind-blowing. A real ripper of a game. But, I doubt whether I'll have as much time next year as I had last year, so that might have to wait. What I am really, really hanging out for is Battlefield 2. I've been an avid Battlefielder from 1942, through Road To Rome and Secret Weapons, right up to Vietnam. I have DC as well [what kind of BF gamer doesn't?] but I don't really play it. Vietnam is more my style. But Battlefield 2 is looking to be an excellent game. It should be released sometime this year, and I am waiting with bated breath. -
Ethnic Discrimation Still a Problem?
Baron Samedi replied to AzureWolf's topic in General Discussion
As a member of a majority, it is easy enough for me to say "discrimination is here, and sadly won't be leaving any time soon". For minorities, those are hard words to hear. I am in no way refuting the fact that public acceptance of racial differences has come in leaps and bounds over the last few decades. But, it seems that there are still a large number of intolerant people around, and the thing is, they're the vocal minority. Because, really, you don't ever hear a non-racist person. But, all too often, you hear a racist person. Regardless of the proportions, their volume is too loud to be ignored. It's easy for me to say that people should just try and ignore those kinds of people, but I've never had to deal with race-based discrimination. I don't think it's fair, and I don't think it is acceptable, but the thing is, whilst most people have moved along with the times, there are those who still cling to racist ideals, or perhaps more uncomfortably, have merely gone underground. -

If one were to consider every decision one makes on the basis of whether that decision will bring one shame or not, that person would lead a virtuous life (if one were to avoid actions that would bring one shame).
If we used only the fear of shame to guide us in our moral decisions, how would we act in a situation where whatever we did would never be discovered? There would be no shame in say, murdering someone...as long as no-one found out.

Good work Morpheus :) My riddle: There was a green house. Inside the green house there was a white house Inside the white house there was a red house. Inside the red house there were lots of babies. What is it?

Nice work Morpheus. Hope you didn't use a calculator :p My riddle: When Ashley was six years old she hammered a nail into her favorite tree to mark her height. Ten years later at age sixteen, Ashley returned to see how much higher the nail was. If the tree grew by five centimeters each year, how much higher would the nail be?

The 'd@mn' answer it is then. The answer to my riddle was 'hole'. Many holes can form one hole, it can be any shape or size, and it can shrink or grow with time. That riddle did have a fair few possible alternate answers, but some of the ones listed here didn't actually meet all of the criteria. So, no cookies for you! My riddle: What is the value of 1/2 of 2/3 of 3/4 of 4/5 of 5/6 of 6/7 of 7/8 of 8/9 of 9/10 of 1,000? Do it without a calculator! It is incredibly easy if you do it correctly :)
