Another great chapter, but I have a question...wil the last chapter feature an X-rated Faye picture? Will these keep getting better the further the story progresses? :p Anyway, I do enjoy how you [and anyone else who has done an OB story] use elements of real life, but alter them to suit a use or purpose that would be plausible if we...were all sucked into a computer... >_> Good work anyway though.

How good is America doing in their foreign affairs?

Ok? Who cares, lol.
I guess that one went right over your head. Anyone who understood my comment, please PM me and restore my faith in humankind.
Majority rules it taking it a bit too far when talking about an entire country's populartion. I never said none of them hated or disliked America. I just said I highly doubt an entire population dislikes us. The entire population of Iraq doesn't hate us, and if anything, they have justified reason to. I don't think you can speak for an entire population of 22,697,553, sorry.
What is with you and stupidity? Not be nasty, but if you take all of America, and pit it against your opinion, does your opinion matter. No, it doesn't. Which is why you can say that North Korea hates America, because what better time to use majority rules? I mean, geez. I hope you were joking. Now, the general feeling of lots of people is set against America...but, luckily, in a passive manner. Now, are you going to disagree with that? -

Also, just to be clear, Aceh is a north-western Indonesian province, not an Indian province. I just want to clarify that to avoid confusion (as Indonesia has suffered the brunt of the disaster so far).
Oops. My bad, heh. I'll edit that. This disaster will probably take years to clear up. On the news last night it showed an aerial shot of this island city that was taken before the tsunami...and then they showed one taken afterwards. There was nothing left standing. It was shocking. And, in terms of the Australian count, somewhere around 1250 were missing at last report, and there is great concern for quite a few of them.

Spaghetti Western The mysterious stranger pushed the doors to the Saloon wide open, and strode inside, cocky as all-get-out. Old John the bartender?s knees knocked inside their large-spurred boots. Here was trouble, without a conscience. The stranger flipped a gold coin onto the bar. ?Do you have any Whiskey?? ?We?re out.? His hand grasped for his pistol.

Well I am taught how to find the degree of angle theta in a right triangle and I don't know how to do it.
North Koreans are smart. And have you ever heard of majority rules, or general consensus? Because, quite definitely, generally international opinion is negatively geared for America. They don't have to hate America, but they most certainly don't love it. -
ZeroAnime, cut back on the pills. It's all good. Do I think you're making this up to seem cool to people online? Why yes, yes I do. It's not necessary. If you have nothing to contribute towards the Asian Tsunami discussion, please refrain from posting your morbid thoughts here. I think everybody would like that. And in the latest news, Australia has upped it's donation to $60 million, and an Albany farmer who donated an entire cargo ship with 100 tons of deck-space for donations has been overcome with a staggering amount of donations. Go Western Australia.

-ALL of Charles' great pictures in his posts or when he changes people's avatars to match their true personalities (ie crying baby).
He's a funny dude. In particular, his rabbit picture. Yes people, fear the "I have no idea what you're talking about so here's a bunny with a pancake on it's head" picture. Priceless. But I am shocked and hurt how little I mean to people ;_;.

I don't Think so. Afghanis seem to be the most grateful, but there are many places that nearly worship America. Many places hit with multiple disasters, Such as bangladesh, see America as a way to recover. Few places have a strong concentration of haters.
Well, as a person from a country friendly to America, I know that not too many people like America. I'm not saying that these people hate America, but they certainly don't like it. How many places nearly worship America? Why don't we list them. The 'US'. The 'USA' The 'US of A'. The 'United States'. All these places seem related >_> And, if you're talking about Bangladesh in terms of the Boxing Day disaster and a way to recover, did you know that America has been criticised for the proportional aid they're sending? Obviously any aid is good, but getting back to the topic, not many people hold any great love for America. Aside from Americans. -

I hate British accents. Ok, I lie. I dislike British accents. High-pitched, whiney and annoying. And thats the good things I have to say about them, lol. I am exaggerating, but British accents have never really appealed to me. As for British men being hot...I wouldn't know, lol.

The Sniper The Sniper blinked, and shrugged his stiff shoulders slightly. His leg began to cramp, yet he stayed still, immobile, as if it was a statue that crouched among the chimneys, not a man. The limousine arrived, the target exited. The finger tensed, the bullet fired. The figure fell, the Sniper blinked. And shrugged his shoulders. --------- Such short stories always seem more suited to violence to me, heh.

In Australia there is a sizeable problem with Aboriginals, and... alleged instances of 'racism' towards them. To be quite honest, in every instance I know of, Aboriginals have been the instigators, or brought it down on their own heads. I feel that the minority label applied to them makes a good percentage of them feel like they can do what they want without fear of reprisal, because they scare people and because they have the whole 'racism' argument to hold against people, and can get away with behaviour that is otherwise unacceptable. My approach to racism is fairly blunt, and I do not feel much compassion for Aboriginals, to tell the truth. If they are polite to me, I'll be polite back. But I've seen too many of them drunken in the street, or roaming in gangs, or being generally confronting to actually feel like they are the ones being oppressed. I believe that the public acknowledgment of 'black' and 'white' should be removed. It only serves to keep us divided. We are the public. And that should be that. I don't support racism though. To cut short my rant.

Damn, somebody beat me to posting this, heh. I live in Australia [Western side as well], and happened to be at the beach on the day that this happened. We didn't get any waves, but the tide came in very fast...peoples gear had to be moved. When we got home we found out what probably caused it. At first I didn't think too much of it. I didn't realise how big it was going to be. The footage they'd showed didn't look that devastating. But then, the toll began to mount. From 16,000 to 23,000. There they said it may well double. 23,000 to 36,000 and the doubling was still possible. Now the latest reports are predicting well over 100,000 dead. Only 8 Australians, by all reports, but the amount is staggering.
17:53 AEDT Thu Dec 30 2004 AP - Aid workers in history's largest relief effort are struggling to get food, water and medicine to survivors of the massive quake and tsunamis that the Red Cross says likely killed more than 100,000 people across Asia and Africa. The official toll stands at about 77,000. But with tens of thousands still missing, that number was almost certain to be much higher. There were fears that disease could bring a new wave of fatalities. Military ships and planes rushed to get desperately needed aid to the ravaged coast of Sumatra, the Indonesian island closest to Sunday's 9.0-magnitude quake. Countless corpses strewn on the streets rotted under the tropical sun causing a nearly unbearable stench. "We're facing a disaster of unprecedented proportion," said Simon Missiri, a top Red Cross official. "We're talking about a staggering death toll." On the streets of Banda Aceh, the main town of Sumatra's Aceh province, fights broke out over packets of instant noodles that the military dropped from vehicles. Meanwhile, relief supplies piled up at a regional airport for lack of cars, gas or passable roads to move them. "I believe the frustration will be growing in the days and weeks ahead," said Undersecretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs Jan Egeland. The number of deaths in Indonesia stood at more than 45,000. Authorities there said that did not include a full count from Sumatra's west coast, which had not yet been fully surveyed and where more than 10,000 deaths were suspected. Sri Lanka reported 22,800 dead, India more than 7,300 and Thailand 1,800 - though that country's prime minister said he feared the toll would go up 5,000 more. A total of more than 300 were killed in Malaysia, Myanmar, Bangladesh, the Maldives, Somalia, Tanzania and Kenya. The disaster struck a band of the tropics from Indonesia to India to Somalia that not only is heavily populated but attracts tourists from all corners. Throughout the world, people sought word of missing relatives, from small-town Sri Lankan fishermen to Europeans on sand-and-sun holidays. On hundreds of Web sites, the messages were brief but poignant: "Missing: Christina Blomee in Khao Lak," or simply, "Where are you?" But even as hope for the missing dwindled, survivors continued to turn up. A 2-year-old Swedish boy was reunited with his father days after the toddler was found alone on a roadside in Thailand's southern beach resort island of Phuket. In Sri Lanka, a lone fisherman named Sini Mohammed Sarfudeen was rescued Wednesday by an air force helicopter crew after clinging to his wave-tossed boat for three days. The body count continued to mount dramatically as survey teams reached the most remote areas hit by the disaster. Peter Ress, operations support chief for the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies, said the toll could top 100,000. In Sumatra, the view from the air was of whole villages ripped apart, covered in mud and seawater. In one of the few signs of life, a handful of desperate people scavenged a beach for food. "It will take maybe 48 to 72 hours more to able to respond to the tens of thousands of people who would like to have assistance today, or yesterday," Egeland said.

The tsunami that hit the coasts of south and southeast Asia on December 26, 2004 was triggered by an earthquake under the sea off the coast of Sumatra, Indonesia. Measuring 9.0 on the Richter scale, it was the largest earthquake since 1964. A great wave was triggered that crashed into the coastal regions of the Indian ocean including Sri Lanka, Indonesia, India, Thailand, the Maldives, Malaysia, Myanmar and Bangladesh. The force was so great it was felt as far away as the African coast, 4,500 kilometres away from the epicentre. The current death toll stands at more than 76,000 people, with Indonesia and Sri Lanka the worst hit countries. The World Health Organisation has warned that death from disease could double that figure. Aid organisations are working to provide assistance to the region, sending medical supplies, food and water purification systems. A shortage of clean water has greatly increased the risk of diseases such as cholera and typhoid spreading rapidly. Millions of people are displaced, in Sri Lanka alone one million people have been left homeless. Death tolls by country: * Indonesia: 45,268 * Sri Lanka: 22,493 * India: 6,974 * Thailand: 1,829 * Somalia: 100 * Myanmar: 90 * Malaysia: 65 * Maldives: 67 * Tanzania: 10 * Seychelles: 3 * Bangladesh: 2 * Kenya: 1
Edit: Reports indicate that the current body-count of 80,000 [the total] could be equal to the death-toll in one Indonesian [thanks Jeh] province: that of Aceh. Edit #2:
08:01 AEDT Fri Dec 31 2004 The number of Australians confirmed dead in the Asian tsunami disaster remains at 10, but grave fears are held for 41 missing Australians while around 1,250 remain unaccounted for in affected areas. A spokeswoman for the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) said no more Australian casualties had been confirmed. "The death toll remains as it was - eight Australian citizens and two permanent residents," she said. "However, we should expect Australian casualty numbers to rise." Most of the missing Australians were in Thailand when the earthquakes and tsunamis occurred. The global toll from the disaster has soared above 125,000 and is expected to climb further. Australians will almost certainly be among the growing toll, with the number missing, feared dead, increasing from 12 to 41. "At this stage we've got grave concerns for 41 Australians who we know were in the affected areas and are missing," the spokeswoman said. "These numbers are likely to increase as new information comes to hand." Consular officials are still trying to locate more than 1,250 Australians thought to have been in regions hit by the tidal waves. "We've not yet been able to account for over 1,250 Australians who may have been in the areas affected by the tsunamis when they hit," the spokeswoman said. "Over 850 of these may have been in the Phuket region of southern Thailand and over 200 in Sri Lanka." The spokeswoman emphasised that the figures were only rough and would change as more information was gathered.

I have a horrible retention of important events. To tell the truth, I'm not even sure when v7 was launched...but if it was this year, then that would be a high point ;) Not to mention the AIM discussions leading up to it. I do believe that Kill Adam [v1 maybe, v2 surely] occurred this year, and they'd have to be on my list as well. I think some things such as 55 Fiction are worthwhile as well. Something else that deserves at the least a footnote in the Annals of OB history is n00bHunter by our dear CrandomHero [Alan]. The loss of some members, such as Kitty and Babygirl was hard as well, though I spoke only with Kitty of those two. The disappearance of some others [or just the fact that they don't tend to post any more] such as The Harlequin, Drix and Radaghast has been disappointing as well. And I'm probably the only one here who misses cloricus. WIP.net was removed, and has lately been restored, and although that occurred out of the knowledge of most OBers, that was significant. Oh, and me breaking the 1 year period since my arrival at OB [23 May 05 marks my 2nd year!] was important as well. And breaking 1500 posts. Sadly there is much that I've forgotten. Edit: Oh, and Annie came back, which was great news ^_^

How good is America doing in their foreign affairs?
Baron Samedi replied to Morpheus's topic in General Discussion
*feels the hundreds of old War On Iraq threads pulling this one sideways* Anyway, I think America is not making themselves very popular with a lot of people. And the aim of foreign policy is to be nice on the outside, but greedy on the inside. Maybe America has it the wrong way around at the moment :p I kid. Anyway, do I think the reasons for attacking Iraq were justified? No. Do I think the eventual results [i.e stabilisation under a less corrupt Government manned by Iraqi's] to be justifiable? Yes. It comes down to whether or not you believe the means justify the ends. As for their appearance to most of the world, their foreign popularity is taking it hard. Not too many people like America, regardless of what the facts behind it all may be. -

Wussy character beats Evil Overlord. Useless Klutz wins Girl Of Dreams. Elite ***-Kicking Bad Guy taken out by pathetically lame Hero. Forced love stories. But in the end, some people take to the gaming platforms to escape. They don't always want to have to think... sometimes a familiar stereotype can be so comforting. Besides, I challenge everyone here to come up with a completely unique, yet interesting game idea. Sometimes you can't have your cake and eat it too...
