1. Abhor it? Whats so bad about re-incarnation? Surely loafing about in Heaven for the rest of eternity is redundancy, not living again and again. And, possessing no memories of previous lives is one of the base beliefs [or, rather, necessities] of re-incarnation. Otherwise it'd leave that whole uncomfortable hole where people don't actually remember previous lives ~_^ lol.
2. Siren, a little question. How can re-incarnation be a psychological hell? That would involve you being aware that you've been re-incarnated. Adahn here believes that immortality is available to us [though it beats me why you'd want it], and that he cannot be wrong. Christians here believe that Adahn is a heretic and undoubtedly wrong. Because it goes against tradition. Both arguments are based on faith. Over one book which can be misinterpreted fifty different ways from Sunday, as I illustrated in a prior post. Someone explain to me, where is this argument going to lead? Both cases have merit, but I cannot forsee a solution being reached.
3. Who ever heard of living as a hermit with someone else o_O Anyway, most of these posts just re-enforce my belief that discussing this is stupid. Go watch Deep Impact.
4. I have a scroll wheel ~_^ But thats it, lol. Anyway, I think my idea is better, especially when you consider that it does the kind of thing I'm after when you click on their profile: Why shouldn't it do it for all the options?
5. If they can't find any witnesses, how do they know what happened to the man? Anyway, that is appalling. Just plain shocking, and disgusting. That said, the majority of police [all the ones I know, anyway] are not so bad. You get the real honest, good ones. You get the in-between ones. And you get the a**holes, and the corrupt ones. More of the second group than any other though. There is a lot of corruption, even in the Australian Police Force [now 'Service', because Force was too...forceful], especially in the drug squads, and the gambling squads etc. I read a book written by a female police officer about her treatment inside the system, and the corruption which lead to the [NSW or Victorian...] police commission into the behaviour and actions of police. Anyway, my mum works at the local police station, and cops enough crap as it is. Two of the guys are good guys, two of them are the second group. The last copper can be a bit of both ~_^ Anyway, a lot of the time, police over here deserve more power...or rather, they require it to do their jobs fully. We don't tend to get much of the whole 'bad public face' that some Police Forces do. We have more of a problem with bouncers...but thats a different story, lol.
6. In regards to what you're saying Siren, Adahn's view is a lot different, because Adahn doesn't believe in Hell. He has repeatedly stated that if you don't find the truth, you are merely re-incarnated. Again, and again, and again. So, you're a bit off course there. But Adahn, I would like to see how you refute all the mentions of Hell in the Bible. You see, I've come...quite close to dying twice. One time we crashed off the road. Somehow we didn't end nose up in the massively steep ditch, and somehow we didn't hit the only tree in the paddock [missed it by about one and a half metres]. On the other occasion, if I'd started pedalling about two sconds earlier, I would have been in front of the car, instead of hitting it's front wheel. I've been close too. Sometimes you just get lucky. I consider myself very lucky.
7. When you click on "Go to Blah's homepage" in the drop-down menu that opens under their username, would you be able to set that so that it opens in a new window, rather than taking you off OB to somewhere else? And the same thing with attatchments: Open them in new windows. If you could do that, it'd be very helpful. Thanks. I've just been looking at some old posts recently, and noticed how annoying it was to have to backtrack to OB, or right-click to open it in a new window.
8. Would a month by month breakdown of myOtaku archives be possible? i.e Put posts from each month into it's own page? Because that'd save a lot of browsing.
9. Assuming God is real, and assuming He could hate somebody. Anyway, this kind of story is so common it's not funny. There is probably not any element of fate [or even true love...] in your story. If one of you had been more forward, and more direct, then this wouldn't have happened. But neither of you were, and so this is what happened. Not uncommon, and hardly a sign of divine intervention ~_^ Anyway, you're barely 16, I don't think you've been singled out by fate.
10. I don't think I've ever seen those comic things, but if you could get screenies of them, an animated banner could look good, yeah. Just depends on their quality and...content. And if it looks good, lol.
11. Oh, the colour [at least for the main font on your page] is good. I just think that the font is maybe a size to big, at the very least. But thats just me. What I had a problem with [colour-wise] was your logo, and the 'Competitive Gaming Association' words, because the dark at the top, and light at the bottom look... doesn't suit that font. IMHO, anyway.
12. I'd agree with that Deathbug: But from most of his publicly successful songs, he does a lot better than that, you must admit.
13. Mummy can I lick the bowl? No, you have to flush like everyone else.
14. Question: Are we better than chickens? Question: Do we possess standards? Question: Was there any need for beating the chicken? Question: Was it morally justifiable? Question: Do you people deserve to come back as chickens? Answers: Y : Y : N : N : Y
15. Drix's idea is wonderful; Guaranteed to get a magnificent repsonse out of any audience within 10 feet of the table. Combined with the 50kg tomato [a la growth enhancers] sitting next to it, you'll have the ambulance rocking up very shortly.
16. I couldn't agree more. But, interracial marriages are worse, and as for those damn homosexuals...well. ... ~_^ On one hand I do see what you're saying, but you can't really condone their behaviour.
17. I saw that Chaos had replied and was like "Oh, God". Anyway, it's the principle of the thing. Unnecessary. Wanton. Cruelty. Hope someone spikes him onto a conveyor belt. Hope he loses his job. Whatever, lol.
18. Hey John ~_^ Anyway, a few years ago I got this 'MP3 Studio 2000' program. On it was a sample of electronica/techno type music. So, thats where I first heard it. It's good stuff. What I've heard anyway. I don't especially seek it out, indeed that set of music is all I have, but it is enjoyable. A reaosnabley big Swedish [or thereabouts] group did a fair few of the songs. Their name is Trance Control. They have a website too. Another group I really liked on there was Sister Machine Gun. But thats all I know, sorry.
19. In regards to your joy in knowing that their souls will live on, then why cannot you find joy in the continual cycle of life and rebirth? Until a person dies, they may as well be immortal. I thought of a great challenge to give you. Get a digital camera with video capabilities, and find someone who will film you stepping out into the path of a car. If you die, or if you live, get them to post it online, and link the video here. If you survived, unharmed, then I imagine there'd be a great fuss worldwide, and your point would be proven. And if you didn't, you'd be another nutcase with a death-wish. Of course, I am not advocating that you do this. I am positive that you would either a) die or b) be killed. Oh, wait. Let's add c) be seriously injured. It'd be an interesting hypothetical point. Which shall never be proven. I am...not an atheist. I don't believe there is no God. But I don't believe that there is a God. Do you see? I don't commit myself to either case, because both cases have merit. And both cases have flaws. I don't think that immortality is achievable, at least here. And why would you want to be immortal here? Rather, a Nirvana type place [i.e. heaven] seems far more likely. If there was a God, I'd like to think he had a better place than this envisioned for those who reached the 'enlightenment' you refer to.
20. I have no problem with eating animals and/or animal products. I do it on a regular basis. I'm not saying we shouldn't eat the meat. But I do think that this kind of behaviour is innapropriate, and needs to be punished. Plus the fact that nobody seems to find anything wrong with it irks me. Edit: I'll pin it on Big, Bad America whenever I can ;) Kidding, lol.
21. I'm not PETA. I just used those as...examples. Biased, I know ~_^ How about another example. A boy finds a wounded bird on the road. He picks it up, and takes it home. He the sets it's broken wing on fire. After extinguishing it, he crushes its body with a brick, and then kicks its [presumably dead] body into the garden. Isn't that a nice tale? The moral of the story: According to increasingly violent Americans, acts of wanton cruelty to animals are acceptable as long as the creatures death was likely anyway.
22. So, you're the first one to stumble upon this amazing concept... Anyway, what about the idea that there is no aim or reward in life, except the chance to experience it again and again. Eternal life. Or that you are re-incarnated until you reach Nirvana? Surely there is merit in these things. Or, if you'd care to look at the atheistic or impartial side of the argument, what if there is no hell or no heaven, because God does not exist. You're quite right: It makes no sense to give people one chance and then send them to hell. What if you lead a good life, but didn't believe? What if you died young? What if you never heard of Christianity? I think that logically, if you're a believer, the Nirvana kind of image is the most logical. Why would a compassionate God allow you to live forever on this world? An immortal would be caged, and examined. Would watch everyone they love around them die. Is that fair reward? I think not.
23. I will respond fully later, but for now, let me ask you something; if once we accept Jesus and the falsehood of necessity of death we will never die, how is it that there are no immortals? Are you to be the messiah, the first to illustrate your wonderful concept to the rest of the world?
24. I have no problems with the consumption of animals, or the use of their products. It's the actions that these people are taking in their job. Does it make them feel tough to slam chickens on tables? What kind of excuse can you provide for such shameful treatment of animals?
25. How about you grow a giant tomato! Shower it with your choice of fertilisers and pesticides, and watch it grow.
