1. Ruben spun, going for his weapon as the sound of slapping feet echoed down the corridor. As he was turning, he was knocked to the ground. Looking up he saw that Sam was pinnning him down. Satell kicked him in the ribs, and the sharp retort of splintering bone eachoed loudly in Ruben's ears. Ruben leaned forward to get up, and screamed. He was nailed to the floor. Nails through his wrists, nails through his feet. The pain flooded through him. Spreadeagled on the floor, his limbs pinioned to the metal deck, his mind screamed in agony. Satel was stanidng limply against the wall, almost hanging. Her bonds were invisible, yet when Ruben's flashing eyes landed on her, he saw the thorny crown dug deep into her scalp. Tex screamed as Samn advanced on her. He was a shadow within a shadow. An illusion... he flickered between Sam... and a horrible red creature. Simultaneously, as the one being, they advanced on Tex. [Ruben and Satell aren't really pinned... it is more of a psychological thing. They aren't really pinned to the wall/floor]
2. As the car pulled to a stop in a small ravine about 500metres from the perimeter fence, Petir thanked the Yakuza for at least pulling out the dome and tailights. They did know something afterall, and despite the immense difficulty associatred with driving on this nearly pitch black night, the professionalism of the group was calming. The literally poured out of the car. Undoing the jockey-strap that they had to use to hold the car's boot shut, Petir began to hand out packs. Everybody got out their necessary equipment and prepared to enter the compound. Petir and Julia were to head in from the east side of the compund, which was near the Parking Compound. They had two sets of boltcutters to...facilitate their entry, as well as loaded weapons and some [stuff they use to put people to sleep. What is it's damn name?]. Rebecca and Dominic were to enter it from the other edge of the compund, the South side. The plan was to steal four Humvees, and as much fuel as possible. Jedgar's job was to distract the entire compund. He was positioned around near the gates on the northern side. He had limited materials... a car, some rope, a heavy piece of wood.... matches. He was sure he could think of something.
3. *claps hands* Oh, much better. I always feel so bad though, when I insist on picking out bits on what is otherwise a good piece. Damn my finnicky self. Seriously, little things like that just glare a me, so it looks much much better now. Good work.
4. Heh. I was reading The Da Vinci Code, and I found out something- which you may want to check if you have the DVD. Sometime, there will be floating dust particles over Simba's head. Pause it then, and the word 'SEX' should be spelt out in the particles- I would love to know if this is true. Please check this. Imagine that. Some prank-loving animator dreaming of getting home to his/her wife/husband/[whatever]friend, decided to play a joke. lol
5. Ok... I see no other of this. Today I acquired this fascinating book... and am almost fiished reading it. This thread is merely for discussion of it. Do you like it? Have you read it? What do you think?
6. [OOC: Eh... GSB Master, some of you guys.... I know I am not running this RPG, but I am finding some of your posts... horrible. Eh. Sorry. I am a big fan of grammar and sensible setup. Also, we don't actually have Chocobos... or so I believe from Zidarghs recruitment thread. 'I wonder if there are chocobos out in the world?'] Ruben abruptly turned off the main street, and headed down the alley to Marag's Medicine Shop. Pushing in the door, he walked straight up to the counter and started bellowing for Marag. Presently the old woman shuffled out from behind the partition. She moved over to the cash register, and drew out 40 Gil. Ruben leaned over and gave her a peck on the cheek as he stuffed the money into an inner pocket. 'Thanks darlin. See ya next week. And don't forget- any trouble just call me, and I'll sort the little bastards out'. 'Yes Ruben dear' the old lady called out, as she heaed back into the backroom to watch the news. Ruben headed left when he exited the store, and hurried down to the dead end of the alley. Here, at some time, Shinra had torn down part of a building, however most of it was still standing. Looking around for a suitable piece, Ruben saw a large piece of concrete with a few solid looking steel rods protruding from it's base. Digging his feet in, and squaring his shoulders Ruben grasped the bundle of support rods by the base and lifted. Slowly, inch by painful inch, the muscles in his neck cording and popping, the piece of concrete was raised higher and higher into the air. Abruptly drawing in his body, Ruben used his weight to send the concrete slamming into the ground. Several large chunks fell off. Another crunch, and most of the concrete was cleared. Eventually Ruben had most of the concrete off. Hooking the 7 rods in the back of his belt, Ruben turned towards Leo's area. It was almost 9. Hopefully these rods could be useful- for weapons or equipment. [Also... I don't really think Westan would have been much of an obstacle for Ruben. Ruben's forte is strength, and he is a standover man. He ain't taking no shit from no-one. lol]
7. *chokes silently on Mitch's 2nd last sentence* Ahem. Yes. So you guys banned him? I'll go check that out... I find the banner enormously funny... lol. Good idea. One little note though [Yes I am a picky bastard] In PT's first reply, the numbers '3' and '3' are too far apart from each other. This is, if you actually typed that up. If not, then it is just an AIM thing. Love the red BANNED text.
8. Petir was shaking, as the flood of adrenaline abated. Walking into the plane, he picked up the surviving pilot and bashed him against the wall of the bathroom. Using his free elbow, he struck the man in several places, each time he was rewarded by the splintering sound of a cracking rib. Each time, the pilot jolted, as blood dribbled out of his nose and mouth. Mafia have very unique interrogation techniques, and everybody had a go. Dominic however was the one with the most success. It was the Yakuza. They had hired a group of foreigners to deal with the Mafia. Somehow they're own leaks had been spotted by Yakuza Counter-intelligence officers. And the Mafia must have had some leaks as well. The pilot was weak, no honour or strength of will. He spilled all that he knew- which wasn't much sadly. They managed to glean that the Yakuza would be searching for the shipment too, and..... that the Yakuza had a few surprises. Eventually Dominic thought he had all the information he could get... "What should we do with him now?" he asked Petir. Petir had just the right answer "I want a sea container booked. Book it on a transport ship across the Mediterranean to Sicily. Tie this... bastard up. It is only a weeks worth of travelling, he'll survive. Have the crate delivered to the mansion. Write up a suitable note for it, and we'll let Merconi figure out what to do with him. Hopefully it will be as excruciating as possible." Giovanni grinned devilishly. He volunteered to take it up to the nearest port. Petir agreed, and told Giovanni to meet up with them. They'd be heading for the trail now. Rebecca however looked sceptically at the cars. "These are gojng to get us over that type of country" here she pointed towards the distant hills and ranges "You wish. These won't survive that" "My dear Rebecca" Jedgar said slyly "I am shocked that you think me so dense... these vehicles are just to get us to the nearest military compound. Fort Mayaserena. We'll pick up some Humvee's there." " Is there an arrangement?" "No... thats what will make it so much more fun"
9. Shy was just being cheeky Rando. lol. He wqsn't serious. Really though, Rando has a point... depending on how you view it, it does seem to show OB in a kind of.... unpleasant light. I know you don't feel it but... lol. Maybe use the word... OBservant. I don't know. I liked 1,2,4,10,11,12,14. They are Ok, but some of them seem kind of...bland and boring. Some of them needed borders too. But for the most part.... good stuff. The Betty Boop one is possibly one of the best there... I like the overall tone of it, the smudge of pink gives it some interest, and it is... well constructed.
10. Here is my version.. hope you all like. I think that it came out very good and trendy, just how I wanted. Congrats on myO's success Adam.
11. Ruben looked down to see a young girl clutching at his sleeve. "Are you gonna go with those guys. I think I might wanna..." Ruben nodded seriously, though with a faintly amused twinkle in his eye. "Yeah, I think I just might, if they are serious that is... that is a mighty big sword for such a small girl to be carrying around, isn't it?" "Yeah, well you're not so big yaself, ya know." "Haha, I know" "So are you gonna go with these guys... I am gonna be a bigg Hewo when I get big. And I am gonna choppa off Empwas head wiv my sword." "Good on you... that sounds like a worthy cause indeed" She smiled prettily at him and twirled a strand of her hair on one finger. [OOC: terra, hope this didn't make Pooka sound too childish.. if you want me to I'll change this.]
12. Eh. Normally my mum makes me go to bed at like, 8:30 or something. I normally wake at 6:00 or 6:30 me being a Year 9 schoolie, there isn't too much I can do. Now though, I've had quite a few later nights [10:00ish area] which is good. Feeling a bit bland, but it isn't too bad. I am going to my dads for 2 weeks soon, so 12:00ers and 6:00amers are on the horizon. Full steam ahead.
13. Ruben was just reaching to take off his helmet, when something caught his eye. Spinning, he thought he saw something slither into an airvent. The airvent casing was hanging on it's side, three screws undone. The airvent was fairly large across, and Ruben had his curoisity piqued. Turning to Van, RUben asked him to tie a rope around his waist. "And if I start screaming or kicking... pull me out. But I need to know what is in there." Van nodded wordlessly. Ruben handed him the free end of the rope, and wormed his way in. Using the flashlight on his weapon to guide him, he pushed it ahead in front of him. About 2 meteres down the pipe, he thought he saw it. It was just around the corner of an intersection curled up in a ball. Like a poor frightened cat. It quivered, obviously scared as Ruben got closer. His pupils dilated, trying to get enough light to make out more than just the shape of it. It sprang at him, and before it wrapped itself around his helmet, he caught a fearful glimpse of fangs, claws and tentacles. Screaming, his body thrashed around inside the narrow confines of the airvent, his neck jerking as he tried to dislodge the creature. Van gave a mighty heave and Ruben's body began to slither out of the pipe. Van gasped when he saw the deformed creature on Ruben's head, and he kicked it back into the pipe. Shoving the limp Ruben out of the way, he quickly shut the vent cover over. Something banged hard against it, and then it restreaterd slithering into the maze of pipes and conduits. As Van turned to administer to Ruben, he almost tripped over Ruben's weapon, which he must have been holding in an irongrip when he was attacked. Ruben looked at him blearily "What the fuck was that Doc?" [OOC: Note to KOTR, but everyone should read it-lol, I know classic horror stuff. I never understood why the stupid idiots had to go and look exactly where the monster was but... it makes good material. If you don't like the idea of having monster type things onboard, tell me or just mention it in your next post... and we'll say it is just a figment of our imaginations. Depends what you want to do. Also, after this Ruben will issue a speech that all onboard should keep an eye on airvents as there are monsters about.]
14. Angrily grabbing a small two way radio off his belt, Petir yelled to Dominic Jedgar hurried across the tarmac to the gate, where Stefan was coming in. Stefan never even took his foot off the gas, he just plowed through the half open gates, showering Jegdar with with glass as the gates swung into the security booth. Angrily Jedgar brushed himself off, and strode back across to the plane. As Julia and Petir helped load the luggage into the plane's hold, Jedgar kept in contact with Giovanni's car. They were being chased by the cops. "Everybody on board" roared Jedgar, as he herded them all onto the plane. Petir and Stefan remained on the plane's steps, guns at the ready. Giovanni's car burst through the chainlink fence and bounced across the intervening grass between the runways. It screeched to a halt, as Giovanni, Rebecca and Dominic burst out, each lugging a bag and toting guns. Petir rushed them up the steps, as the police car was racing through the hole in the fence. Fumbling with his jacket, Petir grabbed a small tactical grenade out, pulled the pin out with his teeth and lobbed it in the general direction of the cop car. Pushing off the staircase, he reached out and pulled the door to, as the pilots revved the engines up to max. The grenade exploded just in front of the cop car, and they screeched to a halt. It was small and did little damage, but gave the plane enough time to get away. Swearing, a constable got out of the car, and pulled the finger at the plane as it smoothly rose off the end of the runway and banked left, heading for Africa. The startled policeman turned around as a giant explosion rocked the police car. The entire terminal had gone up in a big cloud of smoke, as flames reached for the sky. Swearing, the constable got on his radio, and called for the fire authorities. "Damn it" he muttered.
15. Ruben sat at the bar, enjoying his 'free' drink. Grinning at the shopkeeper, Ruben watched him avoid his gaze. Looking over his shoulder, Ruben checked the streets outside for any guards. None. After a few hours, Ruben was almost off-his-face. Blearily, his head hanging in his hands, he listened to some young man talking about escaping. Some, sobre part of his mind must have comprehended it because once the man stood up and left, Ruben followed him. Not sure whether he wanted to talk, mug or kill the man, Ruben slipped through the shadows, trailing the man. As the man went up some steps, Ruben finally tripped over. Luckily the slamming of the door muffled his fall. As Ruben lay there in the damp gutter, he despised himself and his drinking. Just a few metres to the door. Lying there, he was passed unnotice by a young man with a grotesque scar down his jaw. Ruben lay there, and eventually pulled himself up. Leaning on the wall for support, he tottered over the bare space between each alley wall. Stumbling up the steps, he banged the flat of his palm against the door. Once, twice. He heard voices and movement inside, and then a suspicious voice asked "Who are you? What do you want?" [OOC: Uuh, Dagger. Sorry, I forgot about your post. Shall I go first, or shall you? Just make it so... that you went past unnoticed by me. I passed out or something -.-]
16. I use hotmail, and get... oh, maybe 5 or so spam emails a week. My advice is to either use a spam blocker [which I don't], be careful with your email address, and block all spam emails when you get them. Don't bother openeing them, just click delete. It isn't too hard. But 250 emails a day is extreme.
17. Ruben gulped nervously as he zipped up the suit. Grimacing slightly as the metal edges of the helmet dug into his ears, he twisted his head and slipped it on. Checking the oxygen tank, he made a test transmission. As they all nodded, an idea came to him. As various people nodded, he continued
18. Petir swore emphatically. Getting out of the car, he went around to the rear of the car to assess the damage. Cussing, he kicked the rear light in. Julia informed the othe two vehicles of their status. Cleaning out their vehicle, and dusting off fingerprints they lugged their luggage off to the side of the road. Petir was in a foul mood. "What the fuck are we gonna do now?" Jedgar calmly replied by pulling out a cellphone. He dialed for a taxi, and told them where they were. About ten minutes later, the taxi pulled up. The driver looked at the three of them, looked at the mangled police helicopter, and pulled the wheel around. Julia was at the window "If you move another fucking inch, you are so much dead meat." Predictably, he volunteered to take them to the airport. He literally flew down the dirt road, coming up to the chainlink fence. As Petir calmly fired a round through the man's head, Jedgar walked around to the driver's door and pulled out his limp body. Hopping in, he back up the car. Revving the engine he crashed through the chainlink fence. As alarms rang out, Petir and Julia emerged from the back of the car, weapons blazing. Petir moved to alert the pilots [mafia ones] of their arrival, whilst Julia and Jedgar headed into the main building. They killed all of the personnel inside, and deleted their flight plan from the computer network. Now to wait for the others to get there.
19. Hahaha. Looking pretty good there PT. I agree with Mimmi, in the first installment there was too much black at the top. However with this second one, once you have completed your masterpiece, we can fully appreciate your puissant[is that the right word to use?] magnificence. However, one little critical niggling point. I think the Mafia-type men should be moved further up, to fill in that space. How come we have to wait until 06 for it?
20. New information for you all. Troops were about the throw a grenade into the spiderhole when he came out, surrendered and told them who he was. So, I think that while the coward label is slightly accurate, he also may have done the most sensible thing. What kind of martyr would he have been if he had been killed, and nobody ever knew that it was him? I never knew that he was armed James... I didn't hear about that. Anyway, they were about to blow his little spiderhole sky-high. So can you blame him for giving up? Sure he was a hypocrite, and a liar [among other things] but I don't really think you can call him cowardly. I coward would have given up as soon as the US threatened to invade. BTW, I do remember Cloricus's old avatar. But what does that have to do with anything? Accept other people's viewpoints [All of you] and move on. If it had truly been offensive, it would have been removed, but I think the general OB popualce accepted it as it was meant - light heartedly. And believe me, a lot of people felt that way, that Bush was an uinfair aggressor. I don't know the American viewpoint, but this is how lots of people over here saw it, anyway.
21. How about this. This is great advice, steel yourselves. Don't go there. Nobody is forcing you to, and it doesn't matter. I don't think anyone takes much notice of fruitcakes like that, they just brush them off as annoying. Free speech is a right, and the Net is unpatrolled. So leave it and move on. As for the candy... how many kids would actually bother to read notes on candy wrappers? I wouldn't. If they are actually breaking some rules, tell the cops. If not, ignore it and move on. I could call you a [beep beep beep] but that wouldn't matter. It is my opinion, and you can choose to ignore it. So ignore them.
22. Actually, you're wrong there TVE. He wasn't in Tukrit, he was in an isolated farmhouse near Tukrit. He was in a secret room therein, which they found by a breathing pipe and exhaust fan. In there, he was hiding in a spiderhole, which is basically a readymade coffin. 6 feet deep, long enought to lay down in and covered over. He wasn't in any damn position to attack, he was unarmed, lying on the ground. What the hell was he supposed to do, hey? Anyway, whilst this is a good thing, it may not necessarily end the war. They could all give up and surrender, or they could now fight to the death - All or nothing. I thought the newsflash showing it all was annoying. Half an hour of good TV wasted, showing the same footage of him getting a lice check, and a mouth check 5 or 6 times. It regurgitated a whole ton of useless information, the people spoke like dimwits [probably for interpreters benefit, I know] and yeah... Maybe since I am Australian I don't find this that big a deal. They caught him. Cheer and rejoice, now buckle down. It isn't over yet. Oh... some reporter asked what were the first words Saddam said when he was caught. My mum reckoned it was probably "Oh ****, you got me." Or "Ok, now you go and hide" *turns to wall* "1,2,3..." Anyway... yeah. He's been caught, now what? He should be tried in an Iraqi court, because they would have the ability to kill him. The American's should not get him because if they hang him or whatever, there will be a huge political disaster. I would hope the Americans would not be so dense as to kill him.
23. [OOc: I got lost.. your recruitment made it feel that the TQ's had been there fpor a decade... anyway...I'll take it as being only a week] Ruben awoke, feeling slightly strange. Stretching his neck he felt the vertebrae crack. Pushing himself up from his self-made 'nest' in the fork of a hollow tree, he gazed about Somnolent Forest. What was it, what was wrong? He listened carefully for.... that was it. The forest was completely silent. No birds, no rustling, only the sound of his breathing. Something was most definitely wrong. Buckling on his sword, he checked the knives in his boots, grabbed his canvas bag and hopped out of the tree, landing lightly on the ground. All of a sudden, the woods lit up, and the noise returned. Ruben thought how odd that was. Something bad was going down. For the first time since the Thirst Quencher army invaded he thought about heading into Grillin Village, see what was going on. Ruben walked into town, gazing around. there were a few people hurrying away from, the centre square. Pausing a hurrying man, Ruben asked what was going on. "Some kid is going on about being a Hero and beating the ThirstQuenchers. Another kid with nothing better to do" Sadly the man shook his head. Thanking him, Ruben shook the man's hand vigorously. As he walked away he grinned. Another sucker with a ring. He took a glance at it. Ooh, sapphire. Pretty. he stuffed it deep into his pocket. Walking up to the fountain, Ruben looked at the kid. This one was different. For a start he wasn't local, and for another... his features were neither Allucane or Thirst-Quencheriane. How odd. Squatting down on the ground, Ruben listened to the boy's proposal. He culminated in a great shout "Who is with me?!" Among several others, Ruben got to his feet and raised his hand. This boy could sure fire up a crowd. [OOc: Hope this is good Piro ^_^]
24. Three cars sped out of the gates of the manor, tires squealing as they sped off down the street. Sergeant Domini looked up from his burger. This was it. Chucking the burger out the window of his car, he pulled out of the narrow alley where he and Constable Farlane had been keeping an eye on the Manor. Pulling out into the main street, he radioed to the other units in the area.
25. Ruben shook his head. "I don't know.... we docked, and I was down in the loading bay. I was... I was preparing the equipment belts. For some reason the airlock door held my eyes like a magnet though. I... I went over and opened them. I... I wanted the Event Horizon for myself, I wnated to take it... it is just so... beautiful" Ruben looked at Allen pleadingly "I went down the corridor... and it was like my mind was fractured between going and not... and there was another sense there, urging me to go back." Chubbs nodded "Like the blessings on the ship maybe.." he murmered. "Yeah... anyway I kept getting turned around, one way and then the other.. eventually some part of me one when I heard a scream... and... and I came back. I want to leave, I don't want anything to do with this ship. Do we have any weapons?" Chubbs nodded warily "A few rockets and such... why?" A crafty look came over Ruben's face. "We can blow the bitch sky-high.... we can kill it"" Looking closely at Ruben, Chubbs discerned a fine layer of sweat over his face. Taking Ruben by the arm, he gently led him into the medical bay. He went up to Van and murmered in his ear " I think he is in some sort of shock... give him something to calm him. But keep him lucid, I want him on the boarding party." Van nodded. "I think I have just the thing" he mused, as he walked over to the medical cabinet.
