1.
Originally posted by scrmngfangrl im neither, does it still apply to me?
No, females or other have and deserve no rights. :p Edit: Just a joke ladies. my mum raised me better than that. heh
2.
originally posted by Gundamsv7 Hey all, I just found a media host that's giving me 2 GB of space and UNLIMITED BANDWIDTH w/ CPanel 8.0 for only $10/month! There's NO SETUP FEE!!! Check em out at X2Servers.com!
That is your old thread. This looks like another advertising attempt, in a different format.
3. There isn't much ypou can do. HC's idea of slipping in good things is a good idea. Just ignore it, stand around, and look bored, until the subject changes. What can you do? If you ask them to stop they'll b*tch at you. If you don't say anything, and ignore them... they might just get the idea. Sounds like you are doing the right thing though by remaining neutral. You need to look after yourself as well. Just ignore it. Not much else you can do.
4.
I think that the moderating team are quite rude. Like they are telling me things that you people don't even say. so i think you should improve
What the? It is no wonder, if you make non sensical posts like that. What are you saying? The moderators are rude? Who are "you people"? If you make posts like that, they are likely just warning you to lift it, and telling you what needs improvement. The mods here are the best. If you find that our post-quality expectations are too high, well.... There are a lot of crappy spammy sites out there.
5. I like it. It is... well, different to normal banners, and is well done. Blending is good, the whole job is good. The 'N' an the NERV logo is hard to see, that all. And the text is difficult to see without having to peer at the screen. A nice job though, I like it. 8.5/10
6. Ok. Time for my two bob worth. As I was reading, before reaching your post, I thought of you PT. lol. I didn't mind yours though. it was amusing and well done, I liked it. What I don't like is really long ones that are annoying, stupid and pointless. My one could possibly be trimmed, but I feel happy with it. I think Charles' sig is fine. I disagree with the siggie limit. i rarely see over the top ones. There are few enough of them to just PM the person, and if they don't fix it, James or Charles can. There aren't many bad siggies here. Also, the sigie limit may be slightly restricting. Thats the idea, but I vote against it. REFERENDUM!! lol Also Sara. We should block your siggie, it is too long. lol. I actually love your siggie format... EDIT***** I actually saw that ,mine was quite long, probably due to that new addition. So, I trimmed, cropped and backspaced, and am much happier with it now. Another idea if you wish to keep your siggie's long... use [*size=1] [/*size] tags. Thats what I do. lol
7. Damnit. Well *buddies up to james*. Us Aussies gota stick together, right? lol Apoliges for my spamminess, but it relates to topic...
8. Apologies for not checking this thread recently. Anyways, here is my formal rebuttal:
originally posted by Dagger IX1 I can't speak from personal experience. But it seems to me that even in a "rough town," where rape and murder might be common occurences, few parents would tell their children to go raping and killing as they pleased. Vices are definitely subjective--at least to a certain degree. I just don't think that very many people, if any, are raised to find little wrong with killing and/or raping. They may feel apathetic about it, having seen or heard so much of it when growing up, yet I doubt they would actively condone it or argue that it was morally right.
Sorry for perhaps not making my meaning clear enough; Their parents don't give, it is a common occurrence, and nobody views it as being the wrong thing to do. The people will almost definitley try it, and probably do it again. Because they don't even know of right and wrong, let alone which is which [by our standards]. I wasn't saying that people are raised that way, it was a hypothetical, relating to vices only being bad in terms of how society places and defines them. What I was saying, was not if they would think it was right to do it, but they wouldn't think it was wrong or bad. Apathy in such a situation results in the same outcome as actively engaging in it. They might not even know that there is such a thing as right and wrong if they were raised in that way.
To me, it seems that this statement is somewhat inconsistent with your earlier affirmation of moral subjectivity. It sounds as though you're saying that though vices exist within every human being, it is society which names and defines them. That may be so. Then why do so many different cultures label the same things (rape and murder, for example) as vices? Over the course of history, rape has rarely been viewed as a positive thing, although it was certainly more acceptable during certain periods than it is now. But I don't believe that it was ever considered to be a morally admirable action.
By referring to vices' subjectivity to society, I mean that the borders of what a vice is, its' defining limits, is completely dependent upon the society that it happens in. Vices do exist in every human, and society does shape name and define them. Thats exactly what I am saying, and is backed up by this;
By me Society shapes the ideas of vices, but they are born of human nature.
That is what i was saying. each society would have a different idea of what a vice is, yet they all come from humans. And in regards to rape being morally admirable; Think about soldiers say.. oh, I don't know a few hundred years ago. They go into a village, rape and pillage, and leave. They would have been proud of their 'conquests' and perhaps even bragged. That sounds like raping isn't a bad thing at the least then, doesn't it? Murder; In Nazi Germany, many were murdered, yet the soldiers or people would have been proud of their achievments. It was wide-spread killing, but quite often in cold blood. Therefore murder. Under orders, but still a form. Also, I believe there were private cases of individuals killing each other. The Mafia and vendettas. The Mafia is a society that views murder as something that isn't immoral, if not a good thing. To re-iterate my standpoint on vices; Each society has different ideas on vices, and what are vices in one, may not be in another. Yet for all societies, vices come from the actual people. EDIT****** Also, in our society, would you stone a woman for infidelity? Would you not allow a female to be seen in public? Would you be free to beat your wife whenever you wanted? No. Not in our society, but in others it is condoned. See my point?
9. I never had any Barbies -.- But whenever I went over to a friend of mine's place, we used to play with them. Fun. Sometimes things got a little steamy, hey? hehehe. But aside from that, the worst thing I've ever done to one was make it be kicked by a toy horse and 'fly' over the room. Or when I swang them around by the hair.... I also had spiderman figures. I would throw them over the powerlines, and watch them land. Sadly, they didn't last long. I wish I had a van to run them over with. lol
10. WOOHOOHOOO!!. I aM lURViNG THa rAMDonnESS!!!11!11 lol. I like that. nice job. How do you make thos elittle men? I always wanted one of those. Heh. They are awesome. Nice job, cool idea, clean animation. 8/10 WOOHOOHOOO!!!
11. lol. I love the idea PT. nice job. I think the border is too thick however, maybe slightly thinner? And who is Groucho Marx? The face is familiar, but I can't place him....
12. I really like it. Don't know this Hellsing fella, but the banner is really good. Two little points however; One, the text should be unifrom in colour. It gets darker and lighter depending where it is. And under the text is a little red flash or something. Very annoying. Aside from that, nice work. 8/10
13. Hello. Maybe I should make a banner thread. lol. Anyways here is my latest banner. Comments et.c as usual. Also, I can personalise this if someone happens to want it. ANyways, it is just a random idea i had, so I'd be happy [overjoyed] if I got a decent number of comments this time. So, ahead with all comments folks. 14. Re: Mitch and PoisonTongue Unless you believe in religion, in which case you go to heaven, Blah-de-blah-blah, then you need to eat. Physical compulsions will drive you for necessity. If there is no form of higher plane, then the death of your physical body would mean the death of your mental self as well. Yes? Achieving "total mental potential" still requires the use of your body to sustain the object that is powering this consciousness. yes? You only have a conscious form because of your brain. Without a working brain, you don't have a consciousness. Yes? Or no?
15. Nice work. I don't like the little black bit in the avatar, so annoying [>.
16. Thats pretty good. I like it. I like how you mixed that shading into the pictures. Sometimes [like on the sword] you went in too close, and cut off the image. But aside from that, it is good. Nice idea and well done. Nice images too. Needs a border, and a quote, IMO but pretty good. 6.5/10 Nicely done.
17. Well, Azurewolf, thats your choice. WHat is so bad about it anyway? My main banners are jst getting bits of pictures I like, and making them into a banner. Thats all. I don't do much with them. Anyways, here is the avatar.
18. Calm down, stop worrying about if you are being "childish" or not, and have fun. In a few years you probably won't do it anymore, because you'll be too old, and too 'cool' to do it. "Oh my god, did you see tash trick or treating? What a loser Hahaha, she needs to get a life like we have, and stand around leaning against a wall." [I hope no one here is called Tash][This is a mimicry]
19. Isn't a vice something you stick wood or other such material in to hold still whilst performing another operation? Maybe I'm wrong. lol Nice subject... Both. However, a vice is something completely subjective: it exists only in a persons mind. These 'vices' are obviously born into us, but are not bad as such without the personal influence of morals. A person who was raised in a rough town for example, would find little wrong with killing or raping if they were raised this way. Another person would find it abhorrent. Entirely subjective. Society shapes the ideas of vices, but they are born of human nature. Vices. yes, I have them. Mind that these are vices to my opinion though; Lazyness. I am lazy. Procrastination, a part of laziness. Those are probably my only vices to my mind. I am basically a good person, I suppose, but that is subjective, to my life. Really harmful vices? Hate. An emotion, but used excessively becomes a vice. I think killing, stealing, greed and general wrong-doing are vices. But these are only too me. Drinking and smoking are bad vices, but relate to freedom. in fact, they all relate to personaly freedom. My ideas of vices can only relate to my personal ideas of right and wrong. Thats my take on the matter. I hate vices. ever since I got pissed off at one, and slammed the little handle thing down. Caught my finger in it and got a blood blister. Ouch. bloody vices. heh.
20. Hah. Hah. Ha. Eh. To get down to the original issue at hand, I don't think the singer has anything to get in trouble for. it may be inappropriate, it may be foolish, stupid, ignorant. it may be demeaning. Don't listen to it. Don't allow it to be aired on radio. Then you will only hear it when you want to. No biggie. Freedom of Speech; yes it can be taken to far but humans will always want to test the limits with disregard to other people's feeling. Or beliefs etc. What are we supposed to do about it? We have done this for years, and will likely continue to do it. it is a shame that we are this way, but it is so. I think Freedom of Speech is something that we need, but once again, it needs to be in moderation. We have the right to speak out, and we deserve it. But what we have a right to, and yet don't particularly deserve it, is our right to criticise [in regard to people in an offensive context]. it can be misused, and harmfully at that. We should all respect each other, but there will nearly always be some bigot who can't tolerate other views. Forget about them. ignore them, shut them out. or keep your opinions to yourself. We can speak out, but put-downs are not needed. And South park? Hah. A truly crass and awful show. If you don't like it, don't watch it. The beauty of channels and the off switch. To finish this, lighten up. Freedom of speech can be taken too far, maybe it shouldn't be. but it is, so... Put up with it. Eventually people will hopefully realise that they shouldn't. Hopefully. EDIT******* Raiha: From what I can remember, when Bush was giving his speech in our parliament house, two [or only one?] Green's MP's stood up, and started abusing him over the war. They were escorted out of the room. Nothing to serious, but they just amde fools of themselves. However, Bush should have expected it
21. Eh. I must tell the plain truth: your banners require improving. Those first ones... well. Yeah. I can't find much good about them. I quite iked your Bam Margera banner though, that ws better, however maybe a different font, and make the text closer to the pictures. A border would finish it off nicely, but isn't entirely necessary for that one. Your tellepark one. lol. Amusing. It is pretty good aside from this; The border goes on two sides. make it go all the way around the banner. Those first ones were pretty bad, but can see you getting better with each prgressive banner. Also, try the other program. it will produce much better results, just muck with it. I mean, why use paint when Photoshop is available. Try internet tutorials.
22. Here is what may be my new banner and avi... opinions? I'll post banner, and then avi when someone replies.
23.
originally posted by Transtic Nerve Don't worry, they're all gay.
lol. Eh. No, no smart comments coming to mind. Uuh. What is this? What does it have to do with anything? They aren't flirting, they're making friends. Older girls find younger boys cute. So, the girls flirt, the boys don't understand. It is funny though. I mean, Kindergardeners and 4th graders? They have no idea on the subtleties of flirting. They're not flirting. It may be amusing, but I see no issue. I get the idea, but I don't think they're flirting.
24. I see this as being only the business of the two people involved. I don't think anyone e;se's opinions should affect their judgement. But back to the matter... Just because it is something special, does not mean that you have to wait for it until marriage. For one they may leave you if you suck at sex [lol. Couldn't resist]. for the other, most people will have a few relationships before they are married. They may think they are going to marry a person. they may both be totally in love with each other. I don't see a problem there. Pre-marital sex is something that should bring [sensible and loving] people closer together. STD's. What can you do? be careful. The risk isn't too common, and there are cures for this stuff. Just don't sleep around heaps... Babies: Use the pill. Use condoms. Use IUD's. Use spermicide. Whatever. Generally, condoms and pills. This should prevent most STD's and also greatly, greatly reduce the likelihood of a foetus forming. If that fails, then they have a pill that can be taken within 72 hours to abort, but it damages your system. Overall, unless you are seriously worried about religion, or really want to save yourself for your marriage partner, then there isn't really a problem. I don't see the problem. if both parties wish to do it, and have feelings for one another, then there is no obstacle. Is there? I am 14, but this is my take on things. So.... Yeah.
25. Gareth swam back to shore, swatting away midgies andmosquitos. His current clothes were pretty well much ruined, and required a good soak at least. He would need to re-oil his leather and weapons as well. he shuddered: he could still remember the feeling of his head, and indeed, whole body, being on fire. All an illusion. yet he could still smell charred skin, and burnt hair. At least gareth would be better prepared next time. And he wsn't going to use a sickle on that sword... Time to find out anything people knew about this Akato... 4 hours later]... Sitting in a bar, Gareth was deep in conversation when Akato entered. Cockily sitting at the bar next to Gareth, Akato interrupted and said "Hows your eyebrows. looking a bit singed, eh?" Gareth self-consciously moved his hand towards them before remembering. "You bastard. If you think I am a wuss for running away, what kind of .... sicko, would use poison on is blade and on his person.?" Akato repleid "......... [OOC: You continue from there]
