1. Ah, but in Australia (Go Aussies!) football is where people run and kick the ball, holding it in their hands. So their is American Football, Rugby, Soccer (Yay ^_^), and Australian Football. Got it.
2. The future is too difficult to guess as to what will happen. I have no idea what kind of job I want. I am smart, and could make a lot of jobs, but I just don't know what it is that I want to do. Have a kid or two, a nice wife, a nice (posh. oooooh.:p) house in the burbs. Either insanely rich, or a better than average life. Coz at the moment, my life ain't that great... but hey, it isn't that bad either. At least I don't live in Africa and hunt rats.o_0. That would be awful, I feel so sorry for them. They are the ones who should worry for their future
3. maladjusted, I find myself in a similar situation. I have two really good friends one who goes to my school, and another who goes to my old school. I have other people who I get on well with, but no-one that I hang out with. I don't really like it, but eventually it will change, or I will get used to it...
4. Note D_B_D: Laurels. 3 years ago, thats pretty bad. Of course our Rugby Wallabies are pretty bad so far this year. I assume that this is American Football your on about?
5. I searched on Google and found a site there...
6. This is my 5th ever banner, and by far my best. IF you like Garfield this is for you! I made it for my friend Jace. Opinions please.
7. I love your banners terra, especially that Naru one. I am not an anime fan, but I love that banner. Where did you get Photoshop from? Maybe I could see if any of my friends have it, and scam it off them. I have Serif Photo-Plus, which is Ok, but not that good. :(
8. ........Process startup. Practising Reploids. Focusing Reploids. He could see who wasn't going to make it. Then again, who knows, they may surpirse him. Deep re-focused. His arrogance had on occasions overrun his commonsense. He re-focused, and returned to a confident state, rather than aroogant. He saw a Defence Department chip on the table next to him, and browsed it's contents. Scanning DefDepTestBot-Info. Syg X. Compet-Verified Accessing File... ProbableLipSynch Activ. ...'Awww Crud'... Deep stood up and began to flex himself, as were many other Reploids in the room. From a small pouch under his jacket he drew a canister. He depressed a stud on the top, and the canister elongated into a quarterstaff (sorry, but I wanted a blunt object as well. Hope this is OK). Kevlar/Carbonised Alloy. Heavy, but not too heavy as to become unweildy, more as to become solid. He whirled it expertly, facing into a corner of the room, where he projected a holographic drone, which he systematically destroyed. Whirl, thrust, block, reverse. Jump, overhead assault, crouch, sweep. Holo.Destroyed.Motor-Fully..1000% Deep settled into a crouch and ran another Systems Check.
9. Please let me in James. I have read all of the main history you posted, and a few of the posts in the previosu RPG's. But it would take me hours to read through the whole story, however I feel that I have a good understanding of the plot-line now. *Fingers crossed for getting in* Name: Steven Traye Callsign: Deep Age: 32 natural years Appearance: Non-descript. Small goatee, slightly tanned face, reasonably muscled looking arms, wears plain black tee-shirts and Loose fitting pants, of a Kevlar-based material, strong enough to stop small to medium speed projectiles (i.e bullets) from penetrating limbs. Wears a modified Jacket in cooler climes, to maintain appearance of humanity. This modified jacket is black with brown highlights, and made of a similar Kevlar material, but stronger to lessen chance damage to internal systems. Dark hair, almost black, with totally black irises. Wears dark sneakers which have a good grip and heat-proof, Kevlar/carbon reinforced sole and sides. Personality: Quiet and introverted, until he obtains a good relationship, when he becomes open. Often sarcastic and cynical, he finds a down side to everything, despite his robotic programming. Does not tolerate fools well, and can take an instant dislike to others. Quite intelligent, with a pre-disposal towards mathematics. Biography: Naturally born to two Reploids, he was removed from their parental supervision at the age of 3. He was taken by a private firm, to experiment a new Defense capability on. This firm was a success, at least in their experiments, but their competitors found out about their operations, and a squad of mechs burst into the laboratory, killing all the scientists, and attempted to find the program to create this defense mechanism. Deep, who was a mere 7 at this time, used the capability to hide, and then he destroyed the lab, effectively hiding his program, and killing the mechs. He found his way to another firm, government funded, who eventually learnt about his defence mechanism. They tried to extract it, but every time they tried, he shut himself down. So they settled for making him have the best weapons they designed. He was a super-Reploid, and designed to protect the firm from any invasion by other enemies. They gave him an Oxy-Imploder/Exploder, and an energy transferer. When the Government officer at the labs discovered about Deep, the Government requested that he be sent to help with Sygnosis X. Primary Weapon: A blast of nitrogen/plasma erupts from the palm. This superheated/supercooled mixture results in instant combustion/compression of material. A very nasty mess is left, as you can imagine. Sadly it is not as fast as some weapons or Reploids, but when used imaginatively, or in an ambush, it is deadly. Secondary Weapon: Oxy-Imploder/Exploder- a nasty weapon, which absorbs oxygen from the surroundings, and either forms it into a large ball, or small ball. This oxygen remains together, wrapped around by a particle force. The Imploder side, makes a large ball, which then minimizes, crushing through sucking in, the opponent. The exploder side makes a very small ball of Oxygen, perhaps as big as a mote of dust. This enters the opponents body, before enlarging to the size of a basketball. This is kept in place by the particle web, which does not allow the Oxygen to escape, forcing the opponents Insides, aside, effectively killing, or maiming any humans or reploids. Relief Weapon: Fragmentation Grenade. This little beauty explodes, sending a riot of metal slivers in all directions. At such speeds, these slivers can go through up to 6 feet of concrete. Defensive Program: This wraps a wall of void around himself, bending light, absorbing heat, sound, and light. This also has the property of bending laser fire around Deep, but its one weakness is projectiles. So Deep prefers to avoid his fragmentation grenades.
10. I thought that some fella's stole the double helix structure from Marie Curie. Maybe I am wrong. At school on Monday I will come back to this thread, because I have a cool book there all about medical stuff. Is gross. :p
11. D_B_D, I have heard differently. I live in Australia, and I am not saying that I disagree with the war. Personally, I think it was good that it happened, but a shame that Australian troops had to go, but that is besides the point. The point I wanted to make, was that, my Dad is american. When the Soldiers from one of the carriers was in Perth, they met (somehow, I can't remember) The Serviceman said that he, and a lot of his friends on board, disagreed with the war, but as Maladjusted and Heaven's Cloud said, the have no way to openly disagree with the war, without risking their livelihoods. I didn't say it was senseless violence, and I don't believe anybody did. But possibly, just possibly the idea of saving the people was a front for oil. Yes, a popular conspiracy theory. But Yes, plausible. Even so, if it was, it was not sensless violence, just greedy violence, with a purpose, therefore rendering it senseful (that a word... Well, you get my meaning). And weren't the documents about having Missiles launched in 6 minutes, or whatever it was, rubbish? Seems like someone screwed up. How high in the ranks is your Father? I hope you realise that the Truth doesnt generally filter all the way down. Of course, it may have been a genuine wish to help the people, and neutralise a threat, but I think North Korea is probably more of a threat. If the U.S would let anybody other than themselves have Nuclear weapons, and people tried to get over disagreements without threats, it might help. Get countries to sign a decree that if one country attacks another, than everyone on the treaty will either go to the one side, or the other, depending on mitigating circumstances, etc. Than people would be too afraid to start a war, as the world would come down on their doorstep. We would have a truce based on fear, which is better than a truce based on lies. War should not be about love. Love is something pure, that should not have anything to do with war. I can not think of any circumstances which would make Love cause War. I suppose you could say that people 'love' their religion, but I think that is more zealousness, and fanaticism. If not a religious war, than a righteous war, where people want to go and show someone else how they think they should be acting. If not a righteous war, than a greed War, wanting resources of other from a country. Those are the basic types of War, and none pertain to a true form of Love.
12. I think that the Universe is just a big learning area, where people learn how to spell 'theory'. And after they learn how to spell 'theory', they live the rest of their lives, and die. My other belief is similar to Xaru's. Entropy.. doesn't that mean 'Chaos' or something actually?
13. Some ideas here are good, some bad. I am a guy, and personally too shy to ask a girl out (sometimes), but for this guy you like... I suggest to do what has previously been suggested- Ask him about homework, then say something like 'Hey, I don't actually know your name, what is it?" and see how it goes from there. Maybe, unless you are a really nervous kind of person, go and speak to him withiut a 'plan' it will make the conversation flow more freely, otherwise it could become stilted and....fake.
14. D_B_D... your father was pretty well informed about it eh? Well, little ol' cynical me might say that he could have been lied to. The big, important people will often find an easier lie, than a harsh truth. Plus, if your father was truthfully well-informed, he should be stood down for telling these details to a civilian. But, back to the topic on hand- It may seem that love causes war, such as the battle between the Trojans and the... other fella's. That was about some King's daughter, or something along those lines. But the Southern War?... I would not say they loved their slaves, but rather that they enjoyed the uses of slaves, enjoyed being lazy, and being waited on. SO, it is not a love, because you have love for something, whereas they had a love of slaves. Totally different things, really. A love of something is not a real love at all, more a lust for the benefits such a thing posseses. So Leh, I disagree with your statement, at least until more conclusive evidence is reached, but almost any emotion can be twisted to make the basis for war.
15. I suppose that the name-tag is acceptable. Signing out is absolutely fine, I mean, they are responsible for your well-being during school hours, but the spiked hair one... A distraction? People who find a person with spiked hair distracting need to get a life. Or teachers could use their initiative (providing they have any) and move the students in front of the students with spiked hair. Serioisly, that rule is pretty stupid. IMO. At my school, we really don't have any bad rules. We don't have a uniform policy, but there is a no midriff rule, which doesn't bother me, seeing as I am a guy.. Well, doesn't bother me in the terms of me getting dressed.... :p
16. Or oo cou juss carre the we-on i yo mouf ie eh *translation : Or you could just carry the weapon in your mouth like me* I suppose I am removed from the realities of the situation, living in Australia, and all.
17. I had this problem sometimes. Some alt combos move you to a link, or back or whatever. I think it depends on your computer, or maybe something else. But, if it happens, just click back and you dont lose your text
18. Xaru. Suggest more information, because no-one believes that Budda made the world. And this is getting off track. We are talking about ANGELS everyone.
19. I personally, find it an absolutely stupid idea. Under the light of the chance that kids could be hiding a weapon /drugs in their bags, it makes sense. But they should at least come out and say their true reasoning for it. But, who is to say that a kid wouldnt just bring it in under his coat? Or a knife in his pencil case? Hel, ZIf they are going to all this effort, having security guards and metal detectors, why not get an airport scanner thingie, and everyone has to put their backpacks on it before they are allowed in. Jeez, this is just bad. I feel extremely fortunate that I live In Australia, where those kind of measures are unnecessary. It is a shame that it has to come to those kind of measures.
20. I do, in a way, even though I am not Christian. More guardian angel kind of set, rather than Holy Messengers. A kind of spirit tht keeps an eye on people. Twice, I have been in an accident involving cars, and both times I was un-injured. My mu swears, that she wasnt in control of the car when we crashed, she says that an angel was driving (as in saved us from the serious crash). But I may be wrong. Coincidence maybe. And personally, I felt that your post Silverfire was slightly. hhmmmm. Forceful and perhaps verging on rude. Doesn't bother me but may offend others. Uum. Oh, and Nashville Dream, could you cut donw your siggie a bit. It is over a page long. Good subject though
21. I must say first of all, that this is another worthwhile, but pointless discussion. There is no point to this. People can say "God made the Earth and Man" people can say "Mankind evoloved" But there is very little, consistent evidence to back up either. There is more going for "Mankind evolved" than there is for "We just appeared when God made us". I may be slightly ignorant on this subject, at my distinct lack of Chritianism (apologies, I know this isn't only Christianity) but wasn't Eve created from Adam's Rib? Or something. And Men and women have the same number of ribs. Hell, this might not be relevant, but Yeah... Anyway, this is about whether it should be taight in school (intelligent design). Religious people may find it their 'duty' to spread the word of the Bible, but they should not be, or more correctly, others should not have to hear it if they do not want to. It works both ways, but here is my reasoning. People who want to, learn about 'how the world was created' from many different sources, Generally Bible or Church. If it was not taught at schools, than how would that theory (Evolution) get out? Where would we find out about it? If I wanted to learn about Creatonism, I can easily find out from Christians or the Bible. If I want to learn about Evolution, I go to school. All views have a right to be expressed, until one is proven right. But there are places for it to occur. Perhaps they could have 'Evolution' as an extra part. People can give that a bye on Moral or religious grounds, if they so wish to, rather than having to learn about it. It (Evolution) should be taught, as school is a proper place fir it to be taught at, as Church is the place for 'Creationism'. In the end, the beauty of the religious belief, is that it can not be disproven because who is to say that God wasn't of a scientific frame of mind, and made it so. Who is to say that a force does not make the necessary changes for 'evolution' of a species possible. But, on the flip-side, Who is to say there is a force. Another unprovable argument, that generates some truly interesting, but fruitless, discussion. Unprovable. Because, Science is fighting an uphill battle, because the 'God' group has many things to fall back on, because God may have been a scientist. In the End which is true does not overly matter to most people, only that they should have the chance to learn both (or all theories/ideas). Evolutionism should be taught at schools in my opinion, because where else are they going to find out about it? Church for Creationism, School for Evolutionism. They both have a place, and to my mimd, while I do not believe in God, I do not refute, as there is no proof of either. So should all keep an open mind, whether they believe or not. Because, never forget: You could be wrong. It all comes down to Faith, in the argument of Life.
22. I know Crimson Spider already said this, but mine is Hatred. Jealousy is not mortal, and with hatred removed it is difficult to sustain. Nothing wrong with getting angry at someone either, but the hate is what has fueled many wars and racial hatreds and familial disputes. Anger dissipates. Jealousy is bearable. Hate kills. So remove hate from the equation, and while it would lead to a big difference, and a loss of our humanity as a whole, it could also help us to achieve our potential, with such a debilitating emotion removed.
23. As with almost all things, it depends on the situation. Some cases are so ridiculous that they should be thrown out of court, but sometimes landlords can't kick tenants off their own prperty. The Justice System is a big fat laugh. It all depends upon the discretion of the Judge. Many cases are purely ridiculous, and the Judge should have the authority to throw them out. Sometimes it is a good cause, othertimes it is absolute Bull**** and they are only out for the money, but in that case- can you blame them? Everywhere we look things that people seem to be wanting are costing money. Lots of it. So to get what they want, they need money. Why work for it when you can sue someone for it? So in a way, we are victims of our own culture, laziness and system. Plus the ignorance and stupidity of some people.
24. There are some things I would do over, but also, if those things hadn't happened my life would be different. Whilst that may not be a bad thing, it may be as well. Plus, if something different had hapened, that could have led to something worse. Oh, I know what I would do. I would go back and tell my mom which numbers to pick for the $20 million draw that was on Lotto a while ago :p
25. I am a Procrastinator Extraodinaire. It is really bad, I know, but OB or MSN just keeps distracting me. I could put more will-power into it, but I just can't be bothered sometimes. So i get up at 6:00 and finish assignments. Fun. I know that it is a really bad thing, but sometimes if you aren't in a work mood, then any work that you try to do will be second-rate. Sometimes I am in a work mood, and will turn out some pretty good stuff, but if I am not in a work mood, and force myself to work, my work will not be too good. But I do wish that I wasn't so much of a procrastinator.
