I believe there is a meaning of life, its what you want it to be. Some people think of life is just a waiting room for you before you go to Heaven, Hell, or any type of afterlife. I think life isnt pointless... If life was pointless, then we wouldnt be here. We were put here for a reason, you just need to find out what yours is.

Well this totally shattered my chance of watching the WS... actually, I will just so I can see the Red Sox get murdered. I wanted the Yankees to win, but they just couldnt finish it... But with Astros vs. Cardinals... Cardinals are my team still.

I do agree with you that is indeed harmful, and it can hurt you. I also hear that people who do smoke it feel as if it is being victimized and that it is "harmless." But the point I am trying to get across was alot of kids do do it because they think its "cool" and because they have that sense of rebellion when they do it. And there is data. In my health class, we watched a PSA video where they had a teen, who had been smoking pot for quite some time, and they interviewed him. And I can quote him, he said "I felt stronger than my parents when I smoked. They had no idea what I was doing, where I was... I felt like a rebel." I dont know what the video is called, Ill find out in 3 Periods. But the point Im try to make was alot of teens do it for rebellion. Heck I did it for rebellion but only once because I realized how harmful it can be. But thats what Im trying to get across.
My basic view is that I don't support the legalization of marijuana, but I do feel that it should be able to be prescribed for people who are seriously ill (and where morphine or other drugs aren't able to ease pain). The idea that marijuana isn't dangerous is a complete misconception. The actual plant itself is more dangerous than tabacco. The only reason that people are saying tabacco is more dangerous is because tabacoo is smoked more frequently. But that in and of itself isn't really a terribly strong argument in my view, because how often you smoke it is irrelevant (since we can't go in and control how often people smoke it). What matters is how dangerous the substance is. The key problem with marijuana, from the materials I've read on the subject, is that it can lead to longterm mental problems -- including skitzophrenia and other disorders. Of course, you do have to be a regular user for that to occur. But again, how does one define "regular user" when you consider that the drug has different effects on different people (ie: some are affected more quickly, others are not). I tend to view marijuana as I do cigarettes. If cigarettes had not been invented and I brought them out onto the market today, they would never become legal. Why? Because we know enough to say that this type of product is too harmful and harmful products (products that will cause serious health problems) are going to be blocked from sale on the market. Marijuana is no different. It hasn't been legal so far, so making it legal now really doesn't achieve very much. My feeling is that kids are going to smoke it regardless of the law. If they want to experiment with it, they will. Making it legal isn't going to somehow remove some "taboo" -- I don't agree with that. My younger brother smokes cigarettes and I can tell you right now, if cigarettes were illegal, he'd have a much tougher time tracking them down regularly. I should also add that you can be addicted to marijuana. Some of you are countering misconceptions with your own misconceptions. lol One of my dad's employees is a marijuana addict; so much so, that he will go without buying diapers for his children -- or even buying food in some cases -- just so that he can buy more marijuana. Although I am sure that the chemicals present in certain drugs can create addiction, you are forgetting that addiction is also the result of an addictive personality. There are people who are more prone to different types of addiction (such as addiction to gambling, alcohol, various drugs, sex, etc).
I personally disagree with you on the fact the marijuana is more harmful than tobacco. Although marijuana is harmful, I think because of the fact that cigarette companies add rat poison and ammonia in some of there cigarettes, well theres a problem... But if a joint or pipe has marijuana laced with something in it... then there could be a problem. One of my friends who I used to go to school with, smoked once and he almost got addicted to heroin because it was laced to it. Thats the only problem with legalizing it. It could be laced. And yes it is addicting, but thats why I think we should legalize it. Because if we legalize it, theres no sense of "rebellion" as I said before, and if there is no sense of "rebellion", then I think that most or alot of teens and other people that use marijuana, would stop.
Marijuana.com, extolling the virtues of firing up a good toke every now and then. Thats amazing o_O Marijuana has worse, and quicker effects than cigarettes. It is more expensive, and also addictive. It is a gateway drug, and as the effects of the 'high' become accustomed to by your body, you need more to get the same effect. This is why it is a gateway drug. People still smoke cigarettes, even though it is legal. It is for the 'cool' factor, and 'because everyone else is doing it'. It's also stupid. Marijuana should be available for medication, because as Solo stated, it is incredibly different from 'street' or 'homegrown' marijuana. General legalisation is not necessarily [at all] a wise path to follow.
I agree with you that its a gateway drug, but like I said before, most people dont start with "pot", mainly people use alcohol or cigarettes...(yes I pay attention in Health). And as Zeta has shown, most users dont go to other illegal drugs.

Well if your read myO you will find out I am a HUGE Yankees fan. I am orginally from NY and have loved them ever since my little league years. Now if some of you enjoy baseball and have been watching the Yanks vs. Sox games, the Sox have comeback from a 3-0 deficate(sp?). Now in the history of baseball, no team has ever come back from 3-0, and history is not going to be made this year. We are now in the Bronx again, and we have the support of the fans. So for those baseball fans, who do you want to go to the Series??? My prediction: Yanks vs. Cardinals -Hate to say... Cardinals take it.
Being one who is against the fact that cigarettes are legalized, I don't think that marijuana ought to be, either. Kids still smoke tobacco because they think it's cool. Parents still wouldn't want their child smoking pot, regardless of whether or not it was legal. Also, it's a gateway drug. It's like downloading your first low-quality fan-sub via Kazaa, only worse for your health. The reason that having small amounts of marijuana about one's person was decriminalized is that the police had to arrest so many teenagers who were just trying it for the first time. I believe having one joint results in a $150 fine, but I'm not sure. (A friend of mine had to do a small report on this issue.) Dealing it, growing it, etc... is still a crime punishable by jail-time, however.
I agree with you on cigarettes, and I do realize that marijuana is a gateway drug, but its a known fact that MOST people do not lead to cocaine, heroine, etc. from marijuana. They normally start with alcohol or cigarettes. I think marijuana should be legalized so that more kids would STOP... and maladjusted, you say whoever does drugs to rebel is dumb... That is exactly my thinking, but they think its cool. Thats the point. If we legalized it, I could almost guarantee you that about 1/4 to about 1/3 of the drug use would go down. And if it is addictive, then they should legalize it soon, to at least get the feeling of rebellion out of it. Actually, Im speculating. But I still go with my theory. And what do you think about medical use maladjusted, I agree with Godel on that...

Now, if this is innapropriate I totally understand but I just wanted to get the opinion of some of the OBer's on this situation... So, I am doing a public policy project on the legalization of marijuana. I am personally for it. One of the main things that I have heard was that alot of people that use marijuana, not for medicine, use it to rebel against parents, government, etc. or to "relieve" stress. Now I for one have tried marijuana, and when I tried it I did feel good, but it wasnt right for me. But the thing is, I think that if we did legalize the drug, then more people would stop using it because there is no sense of "rebellion" left in the drug... Now to my next point about it, medicine. If you dont think it should be legalized for everyone, do you think all states should allow it as medicine. I agree with this as well because if they are using it, or trying to use it for a good cause then I agree with it being allowed to be used. So what do you think on the situation? Are you for it, or against it, and why...

I dont think its a fact on whether they like gay people or not I think its more on the basis of thinking of having sex with someone of the same sex, if that makes sense. Its mainly for guys. I have alot of gay friends, and they are no different from me, but people who dont know them think that if I talked to him or her, theyll hit on me, and thats just wrong... But thats not true. With all the gay friends I have, I have never been hit on by one of them because they know Im not gay. So I think that people "bash" gays because of the fact that they might "have feelings" for them.

Are you planning on keeping your name?
Epitome replied to ChibiHorsewoman's topic in General Discussion
I would have to say yes, it would matter whether my spouse took my name or hers. To me, a marriage means one, and if the two ends in the marriage have different last names, then they are not one. So yes, I would hope that my spouse would take my name. -
The only thing I dont get, is how do you get yours to move at the same speed as the actual footage? Mine was very jumpy and didnt move at the right speed...
-
Well, I have been here since about 2001, but then I left for quite some time, and then came back. I have had several names, some I cant even remember. So I think itll be about 2 years in may for THIS account.

Yes, you heard right, James doesnt know it yet, but I am his protege. I have been talking to him alot lately about his style of animation in his banners and I thought I would give it a shot and its not as easy as it looks. You have to take it frame-by-frame which is very time consuming. And you have to make sure its not jumpy like mine is, but it was my first attempt. So what do you think? http://img33.exs.cx/img33/739/ffacbanner5.gif P.S. Its not done. EDIT: Okay, I realized that mine sucked compared to James' so I quit already... lol

Request Resize This Image and Add My Name Please...
Epitome replied to Epitome's topic in Creative Works
Sorry dude but I was looking for a less bolder font, and in white. But thanks for the attempt. -
Basically all I need done with the image is what the title says, resize it and add my name if you could. And make the font cool... lol. The size I need it is a good size for a picture in the introduction section of myO, so about 300x300 or 400x400 or somewhere around there. Thanks in advance. EDIT: Forgot the URL for the picture: http://www.planethalflife.com/screenshot.asp?src=/half-life2/screenshots/19.jpg

Hmmm... good games for PS2... Well if you like DDR, then get DDR Extreme. But if your looking more on the lines of an action game... then I would most likely suggest Viewtiful Joe. It just came out for the PS2 not too long ago. I havent played it for PS2 quite yet, but the GC version was awesome. So Im buying it soon, so thats what I would recommend.

Eh... I cant say I like the animated one too much for 1 reason: The font to me doesnt fit the background... While the font has more of a gothic look to it the background is more mellow, and seems like smaller and more "elegant" text should be used. But thats it, animation is fine, everything.
To an extent, humans cannot consciously control their love. Our bodies betray us....hormones and other such chemicals actually cause us to fall in love [and hopefully stay in love'] with someone. It doesn't matter if we think that we love them because of 'blah-blah-blah', because really we are just reasoning out chemical reactions. Thats why people continue to fall in love. Because they can't really control it.
Bingo... Its not that we want to love again, its that our body makes us. Everyone has hormones, and when they hormones begin to develop you start becoming more and more interested in the opposite sex or same sex. Either way, your body needs "love" as like a medicine to keep going. But on a non biological note... I continue to love because I may not find the perfect woman, but I always know that my family will love me, as I will love them. Also the same goes with God...

Most memorable Halloween costume and Halloween experiance
Epitome replied to ChibiHorsewoman's topic in General Discussion
I would try to make this short and sweet, but this is just too funny... So one year, a group of friends and I go out as Oompa Loompas... And we went all out with these things. We had the green AWESOME hair, the orange faces, the overalls, I mean we were stacked up. We had everything... So later that night, we see some friends at this house and we decide to go around with them for a while. So we took a rest for a second and then one of my friends, an Oompa Loompa, says "Im going to the next house to get an extra piece so the guy wont know who is going to get two." So he goes to the house and he rings the doorbell... Next thing I know, he comes running off the guys porch screaming "HOLY **** RUN!!!!!" So I try to stop him and am like "Dude whats wrong" but he just kept running. So I turn around and I see this huge bald guy running after Alex(the friend), and I mean he was HUGE. And he was screaming, what we believe to be swaring, in another language. So we all start to run away and then after he stops chasing us we walked back toward the house, and the guy is sitting on his porch on the lookout talking to himself and screaming in this language... It turns out that he didnt support Halloween. So were all talking about what happened and Alex says "Maybe he used to be an Oompa Loompa before he became huge and I offended him, I think I should apologize... So he walks back up to the guy and Alex started singing the song again. And then the guy like became bright red and went berserk. He was screaming so loud that I couldnt hear myself talk. Oh man but the look on Alex's face when he starting freaking out was priceless. He was so scared I still to this day believe he pee'd his pants. But that was definatley my greatest Halloween. And every year we pass his house, and we have the biggest urge to walk up and ring the doorbell... -
That is exactly it... its too large, just edit the one end, and youll be good.
