I am tired of the [strike]New Orleans Saints[/strike] Cincinnati Bengals being the punching bag of the NFL.
There we go. Anyway, I watched this game from beginning to end and I have to say that the Saints really played their hearts out. I'm so glad they won in the end. Congrats, New Orleans. Revel in it like I know you will.

Hey there, Kei here. As you all are probably aware by now, the RP is still up and running. Like we said, it's a slow-moving game, so month-long lulls probably won't be uncommon. Everyone can take breathers, get their bearings, etc., et. al. Anyway, as far as the game itself goes, if you've been paying attention, things are coming to a head in Ecruteak. There is high likelihood that the climax of that chapter will be coming soonish, though, Indi and Korey, please feel free to go ahead and post at your discretion. The fighting is reaching a high pitch, so I'm sure there is lots going on in the city streets. As far as things going on in the other areas. Blackthorn is currently mobilizing to help Ecruteak, so Ace, since you're with that particular unit, feel free to comment on that experience. There will probably also be more activity in Blackthorn, as they will likely soon become involved in the coming skirmish in Mahogany Town. Beth, Gome and Gymo, you have that to work with should you decide to post. In Kanto, efforts are still being made to secure a base at Cerulean Cave, so Red, you're still with Val at the Mt. Moon Drill Site. People are in a frenzy of activity since word has reached that bad things are happening in Ecruteak. CaNz, Missay, you two are free to move about the cabin, as it were, since you two are largely unattached at the moment. Anyway, that's a brief overview of things as they stand at present. Any questions, comments or need of explanation are welcome. =3

Sorry, darling, but this RP when softly into that dark night many moons ago. Thanks for the interest, though. Thread Closed.

The winds in the skies above Johto were never known for their warmth, but the cold that Faulker felt as he flew toward the north seemed more bitter than usual. He didn’t think it an omen; he’d never believed in superstitious things like that. A simple Northern wind was cutting down toward him and his troops, which only served as a minor inconvenience in the long run. That was the beauty of coming unannounced: you could come any time you wanted. The Pidgeot he rode on took a slight dip at a small kneading in the back, the years of training allowing it to understand the simple gestures Faulkner made as simply as being explicitly told what to do. The rest of the flock, fivescore strong with trainers aboard, followed suit. The winds bit a little less at the lower altitude, but they were still steady enough to warrant a shiver from everyone in the air. It wasn’t long before a trainer, a girl with long dark hair flying behind her, signaled someone had been spotted coming from the northwest. Faulkner nodded and waved her back into the regiment. He knew it was the scout he’d sent out late the previous night to find a roost outside their target area. The scout flew neatly over the flock, the Skarmory diving down and pinwheeling to come back under Faulkner and falling easily into parallel flight with the larger bird. His fingers flashed intricately, part of the sign language Violet trainers used while flying in high winds. “Bluff 15 miles southeast of target. Sheer. Groundblind.” “Good work,” Faulkner signaled back. “Lead the others. Find me at the old man’s place.” The scout gave a nod of acknowledgement and broke off back the way he’d come. Faulkner pointed after him and gave a broad sweep of his arm, watching behind him to make sure the entire flock followed as ordered. There wasn’t a need to make a grand spectacle of things. At least, not yet. ------------ Pryce didn’t like a lot of things. Cocky young Leaders demanding a meeting with him out of the blue ranked highly among those things. Nevertheless, Pryce moved slowly out to the lobby of his Gym, leaning a little more heavily on his cane these days. The wintry air had been blowing hard the past few weeks, and his old body didn’t react to kindly to it. But Pryce was a tough old bird and he wouldn’t complain. Much. “Old Jack trying to work another number on me, I see,” he muttered to himself as he hobbled down the hall and looked out the interspersed windows. His old oak cane giving him a slightly rolling gait, which was slightly stuttered as he considered the flurries that had begun falling outside. “Well, I won’t give him the satisfaction of hanging it up just yet. There’s still some creak in these bones.” The cane rapped soundly as he finally entered the lobby and saw who’d come calling: Faulkner out of the south. He let out a humph as he looked the man up and down, noting his posture to be just a cocksure as he’d been told after Faulkner had arrived. The light smirk on his face and the look in his eyes told him everything he needed to know: there was about to be trouble. “I don’t know what you’re after, but looking like you’re sure to get it ain’t helping you,” he said, looking the younger man straight in the eye. Faulkner shrugged innocently. “That’s Pryce. Quick to judge and quicker to grumble.” Leaning on the wall behind him, he folded his arms, looking back casually. “Maybe I’m not actually after anything.” “And maybe Swinubs’ll start flying to your neck of the woods for the winter. What do you want, boy?” “All right,” said the young Leader with a laugh. “We’ll play it your way. The world’s starting to change, Pryce. But you should know as well as anyone that some people don’t like change. We progressive types can’t have that lying around.” “…You’re trying to recruit us into your little regime?” “You could look at it that way. This little berg is situated in quite an ideal area. It’d be nice if we could count it among our places to call home.” Pryce considered for a moment. He knew that there had been tension building in the region and in Kanto about the recent changes made in the League‘s structure. Apparently things had finally come to a head and the line in the sand was starting to be drawn. He made an unimpressed sound. “And what if I were to say we aren’t interested?” “Then I would have to say you’re being difficult. But that’s not all that surprising.” “Guess not, since you think you can read this old book.“ Faulkner pushed off the walk and walked over to the elderly man, the look on his face a far cry from the casual smirk he had before. He loomed close to the man and bent slightly to come within inches of his face. “You really don’t want to go down this path, old man. You’ve got what, five? Ten years left? Let us in and you can live them.” Pryce looked steadily back at him, his eyes taking on every aspect of their icy namesake. “I’ll be living out my years just fine, boy. Without some wet-behind-the-ears scamp, or anyone else, for that matter, breathing down my neck.” Faulkner clenched his jaw and stared at Pryce for a long second. Then he backed off a step and gave a slight nod of the head. “If that’s the way it gonna be, then that’s the way it’s gonna be,” he said with a sharp shrug. “You be sure to take care of you and yours. I’ll be seeing you.” And then he simply left. Pryce stood and looked at the door for a long moment before heading back to the trainer’s quarters. He looked about at a group of confused faces and sighed slightly again in his heads. Then he rapped his cane on the floor once and straightened himself as best he could. “Shift yourselves. Storm’s brewin‘.”

Dear Sir/Madam, I am writing in regards to your part-time assistant posting made Dec. 1 on kurtslist. My name is Miranda Finch and I am 23 years old, currently residing in Lima, Ohio. I have recently graduated from college, double majoring in writing and literature. During my senior year at M University, I wrote my senior thesis on the usage of mythology in modern literature and, since graduation, furthered my research into mythological studies while searching for a graduate school. As such, I spend a great deal of my time reading. Outside of scholarly research, I mostly read works of recent occult fiction, including titles written by Jim Butcher, Anne Rice and Laurell K. Hamilton. During the summers, I have taken part in an internship at the Lima News, the local newspaper for my hometown. I gained experience with interviewing people face-to-face and over the phone, as well as organizational habits and getting used to working under deadlines. I have a great deal of experience using the computer and am able to use a variety of applications including Microsoft Word (60 wpm), PowerPoint, Excel, Photoshop, InDesign and Quark Xpress on both the Windows and Macintosh platforms. I keep several blogs on various sites and also have active Facebook and Twitter accounts. I have reliable transportation and am able to relocate wherever is needed for the position. I have attached a picture and salary requirements in separate documents. Thank you for your consideration. I hope to hear from you in the near future. "I want essential lighting, and only that, up in an hour." "What about the support structures?" "Dual-layer. Have the 'Shrews set them down an extra six inches." The young man making notes quirked an eyebrow. "Let me get this straight. You want minimal lighting and above-average precautions?" "That would seem to be the logic, Evan." "I suppose you want only half the number of personnel on site covering the charges." "Actually, I want double. And no charges. Only the Gravelers and Golem." Evan shoved his pencil behind his ear quickly and fixed the woman scoping the entrance to the tunnels with an odd stare. "What the hell is this job supposed to be, Val?" "A covert one. Besides, I don't want to stress the walls too much since I'm not entirely sure a large fracture wouldn't bring some ceiling down on our heads. Blasting tends to make with the fractures, whereas the Pokémon work more with the stone than just obliterating it." Evan paused for a minute, pointed at her, opened his mouth and then closed it again with a sigh. "Okay, whatever. You're the project manager. I'm just here." "Glad we understand each other," Val said with a smile as she clapped him on the shoulder. "Now make with the organization. Thanks much." "Why do I let you treat me this way?" "Because I have a large part in you getting a check." "...Oh, yeah." Val couldn't help but smile as she watched Evan stride off into Mt. Moon, muttering under his breath about something or another. She liked to give him a hard time, but only because she knew she could get away with it with him. The two had been friends for more than a few years, having met when Val first came on as a consultant. Even though she was his boss now, the two shared an easy camaraderie that lent itself well to not only making projects going smoothly, but also to a very interesting stand-up routine they ran on overnight jobs during the dinner break. In all honesty, Val didn't know what she'd do without the guy. He had come to know her so well that he typically didn't have to ask how to set things up on a token job. He knew the drill, so things went that much more quickly. Trying to break in a new guy to her routine now would only prove frustrating to everyone involved, especially corporate, since they would likely receive a lot of belligerent messages. She was especially glad to have him now. Taking on opening up a new path in Mt. Moon was a huge undertaking. There had been no plans on trying to reopen a path to Cerulean Cave after the collapse so many years ago because of the possible dangers it presented with the naturally strong Pokémon still skulking about in the shadows. For a young trainer, it could easily lead to bad headlines in the morning paper. But as it stood now, there was little choice that her new client had. A war was brewing and he needed a central place to plan and gather troops. He needed a place to hide and that place was Cerulean Cave. If they managed to get the population under control, it would give them plenty of space for troops, a bit of lodging and a lot of other things. It was the ideal location...and the only one immediately available. Val sighed. "Open the way to the place where the good guys won't get slaughtered. No pressure at all." The Magmar standing beside her a small pat on the hip as a sign of encouragement. "It's okay, Cecil. No sense being worried now." As she started to go and check the link to determine when secondary materials would arrive, she noticed a young man with a Venusaur coming in behind the trickle of support staff Flint had sent to assist with the dig. "Man," he muttered. "Excavation. So fun. Seriously, of all the things I'd get stuck with." The amount of sheer sarcasm in his voice made Val smirk in her head. "I take it you didn't like digging in the dirt as a kid," she said has he came to pass her. "No, no! I didn--wait." He turned to regard her somewhat sheepishly. "Eh... You wouldn't happen to be the one in charge here, would you?" "How ever did you tell?" "Just a wild guess. Anyway, I'm Haru Corbel. I was ordered to help out with the excavation." "Ah, another set of spritely young muscles. Wonderful," Val said with a testing grin. "Valencia Marsters, but you can call me Chief." Haru nodded. "So then, Chief. What is it that I need to do?" The Venusaur let out a sound that if listened to closely, one might think it was laughing for some reason. The young man mumbled something and it stopped with a bemused sort of look. "Well, you're a nice little greenhorn, so I won't make your body scream at you too badly at the end of the day," she said with a joking smile. "What you can do for now is take your Venusaur on into the tunnels to the site and help move the beams around to make the support structure. Just to make sure we don't get crushed and all that sort of thing." "Yes, ma'am," he said smirking at his partner. "You hear that, Venusaur? You'll be helping too." The creature seemed to frown a bit, but nodded all the same. "Good," Val said clapping him on the shoulder. But she suddenly caught a serious and worried look in her eyes. "But if you two get tired, don't be afraid to take a sit down for a spell. I don't actually want you working yourself to the brink." "We'll keep that in mind. All right, let's get moving, Venusaur." Haru gave a brief salute and trudged up the path, the Venusaur following behind at a noticeably less-than-eager pace. Val chuckled to herself as she patted Cecil. "He reminds me a little of you when you were young, that Venusaur." Cecil swatted her hand away and blew an indignant puff of flame, then moved to head to the small recon post that was set up outside the tunnels to keep an open line of communications with Pewter. "Oh, my," Val laughed as she followed. "I seem to have insulted his pride."

Writing Monophobia: The Tale of an Emotional Pariah
Kei replied to Jabberwocky's topic in Creative Works
What you have here is a good start. In the first paragraph, there are things that make the reader question the basis of the "world" in which the story takes place. If there's a completely sterile room, there can't be a sense of day or night in any way, since there is a complete deprevation of time. At the same token, later in the story, you mention the man's age, but since time is virtually negligent, this is a fact that can't be stated, only described, which you did in the first paragraph. At the end of the first paragraph, it is written that the man understood nothing. If that were the case, he would not have a reason to contemplate his existence, as is mentioned in the second paragraph. To him, that room is his world. Everything in it is as it should be. He wouldn't have need to think of anything (including the tiredness that is mentioned; he doesn't know what it means to be tired, nor does he understand the concept of rest. Mind over matter and whatnot.) Once the window comes into play is where things would actually start to change. That presents something new that wasn't there before: it is something that should not be. That's technically where the questions are supposed to start. The touch of dialouge is appropriate, so I'll leave that be. However, once you get to the crack, that's a bit iffy. He wouldn't know what a crack is, much less what one sounds like, so it would be something entirely new and possibly frightening to him. It's another thing that should not be. This kind of keeps going on throughout the story with the things he's experiencing, which is the hitch with blank-slate characters that are the only characters in the whole story. In order to completely sympathize with the character, we have to look at things completely from their prespectives. We have to feel the confusion that they feel and experience new things with them. While that leads to vague terminology on the page, it lends itself well to the story as a whole, since we as the reader can form ideas of what is going on since we're -not- blank slates and can gather from context clues and whatnot. There is also a twist present at the end, what with him suddenly gaining memories and whatnot. Since I see generally what you're trying to do with the repeated cycle, I can somewhat understand that. The part that bothers me is the actually stabbing. Someone stabbed in the back doesn't necessarily feel pain in the front. More of a general back pain than anything until bleeding out happens. Or worse if the attacker actually has the strength to send a similarly strong blade through the spinal cord. But, as I said, it's a decent shell. It just needs tweaking. =) -
The game isn't dead. Real life just tends to take priority. lol People are getting (or have gotten) the information they need to keep going, so it's all just a matter of time.

Ace has got the idea, here. Your idea was a seed and considering the way things are and will be, it wasn't entirely feasible. It's nothing bad on your part, it's just that it wasn't completely thought out. But that's why we're posting here: to hash things out and see what works and what doesn't. I'm sure everyone here is going to have one of those moments (myself and Al included), so don't get bent out of shape about it. Live and Learn. [/Crush 40]
I wasnt questioning which would be more practical, usefull and overall a much better idea... I was questioning the "rebelions" controll over the entire population of a town that surly must have some dissidents, I am just saying why do they even have the ability to controll anyone, given that like you say the league is just starting to take action so a countering force would be even more new to people.
The reason that Morty has the ability to "control an entire population" is because in this setting, Leaders are essentially leaders in all sense of the word, at least in the cities that don't side with the League. The well-being of the citizens and what everyone needs to do has been placed in their hands. In the case of many of these Leaders (especially Morty), they are a very influential figure in the community and are looked to for guidance. To put it bluntly, if he says GTFO, you're gonna GTFO. =p
And by the way, if you dont want stupid ideas, dont leave it open to public debate. I obiously dont know enough about anything to give valid input so I will just stay out of it... but I dont think I should be mocked for that whe everyone was asked to pitch ideas.
Oh, internet. I am well aware you don't know all that much about the world at large at the moment; everyone here is learning about that at once (save for Al and myself). The only thing I was implying in that context was that Beth made a good point and I offered my own subsequent opinion. I never once mocked you. Everyone's ideas are legitimate and appreciated. We're all here to discuss things to make the RP interesting and fun; that's what this thread is for. We hash stuff out because it makes for a better story when everyone is on the same page and willing to work together and play off one another. In the process, we're going to have opinions that sometimes may be taken out of context. =p We will make good-natured fun. We will comment. We will discuss. That's what we do here. I'm sorry that you felt attacked, but that's not what I intended in the least.

Ace: Well, as far as a ranking system, you're correct in your assumption that Leaders are near the top. They essentially act as generals on the field and whatnot. Gym members themselves act as C.O.s to the general troops and senority dictates how far they go, i.e. someone who is time-tested and knows what the hell they're doing may make it so far as a brigadier general. It all depends. Gymo: Well, as far as psychic powers go, yes, there are people that practice psionics, but they tend to be scattered around. As far as uses... Telepathy is the most "common" and anything outside of that is rare. There have been records of telekinesis and even extremely rarely of pyrokinesis, but one has to be trained in that for some length of time and know who to train under for that purpose.
-
At this point, yes, all the civilians are in shelters being monitored and protected by small teams designed for that purpose. They're scattered throughout the city, but they have a communications system to choreograph (for lack of better term) evacuations. Beth is right in saying that it would be utterly foolish to let civilians stay in their homes in such a situation. It's too much of a liability because it causes you to overstretch your troops covering so much more area to account for residential neighborhoods. Not to mention the fact that people tend to be much more killable spread out in easy-to-break-into houses. ;p So anyway, the civvies are safe for now.
-
CaNz: That's going from the anime mindset. In truth, what would be more liable to happen is what Ace has going on with body language and things the trainer and Pokémon would just notice about each other from being together over time. Gymo: Heard you the first time, darling. =p

Boy, Ah say, boy, you gotta work with ya brains to win a war. (Bout as smart as a box a' rocks, this 'un.) Also, I think that was more Daffy's schtick than Foghorn's. lol

"Where are we on the fortifications?" "We still have about three days of work ahead of us, ma'am." "I want it done in half the time. And done right." "Understood, ma'am." The sharp glance Claire sent up at the aide told him he was dismissed. As he sprinted off, Claire went back to her map of the immediate area, marking spots around the perimeter of Blackthorn where there would need to be more coverage. It wasn't hard to turn the city into a relative fortress, though this was thanks in large part to the mountains that surrounded it. Still, with the enemy they were fighting, Claire didn't want to take any chances. She wanted the defenses in place as soon as possible. They were at an advantage of sorts, but complacency breeds weakness, or so the saying goes. The air around Claire took on a subtle coolness, making her glance to the serpentine dragon coiled majestically beside her. She followed its gaze as it caught her attention, noticing Maya coming toward the Gym with a new face in tow, though it looked considerably pallid, for some reason. She raised an eyebrow as she considered the boy. He seemed more curious than the average recruit, which wasn't necessarily something that brightened Claire's day. Still, Maya had returned with someone and that was a blessing, though a minor one, in more ways than one. "Report," she said to the young woman, though her gaze remained evenly on the boy behind her. "Yes, ma'am. The recruiting mission was...slightly successful." "Who is this?" The boy shifted on his feet a little, the intense gaze Claire was setting on him obviously making him more than a little nervous. "Allan Shepherd," he piped up suddenly, thinking she was finally speaking directly to him. The slight glare she gave him told him he was wrong. "What battle experience do you have?" "I've done some training and battling," he responded with a shrug. Claire looked the boy up and down slowly, coming to realize the type she was dealing with. She gave a short sigh and shifted her weight to her right leg. "So you're not a complete blank slate. I suppose I'll look at that as a blessing. You're to fall in with the south regiment for drills and duty. I don't want to hear about any whining or you can carry yourself back to where you come from." "I'll pull my weight." "See that you do," Claire said, turning on her heel to go back to her map. But she stopped short, glancing back over her shoulder at the boy. "What sort of Pokémon do you even have on you?" "I have one of those," he said, pointing to the Dragonair that had been eyeing him with a casual coolness the entire time. It canted its head at the proclamation and its owner did the same. "You have a dragon? Let me see it." The boy took a Pokéball from its belt as both Claire and her own dragon came forward. Soon, Allen's own Dragonair sat face-to-face with the both of them, taking only a second to notice the new surroundings before focusing on the pair. Claire took a seemingly casual look over it, noting the gleam of its fine scales, the point of its horn and the finish of the jewel just below its slight maw. All of them pointed toward the signs of a well-kept pet; not a seasoned battler. Claire sighed. Her Dragonair, though, slid closer to it, its own jewel beginning to shine with an opaque light. A light hum, like that of a fine tuning fork filled the air as it swayed slightly looking intently at the other dragon. It responded in kind, its own jewel shining brighter and ringing with a slightly higher pitch. Allan only looked on at the spectacle, obviously unsure of what to make of it. "They're talking," Claire responded. "She's probably asking him about his life. And you." "...It won't get much, then. I haven't had mine for that long. It was a present." "That much is obvious. But Dragonairs are a very perceptive species. They don't need that long being in your presence to see what you're about." The two dragons went on conversing for a few moments before finally going silent, Claire's moving to circle the boy. Then it stood straight and tall, bumping its muzzle against Allan's forehead hard enough to make him take a step backward. "Did... Did it just kiss me?" he asked, looking at the dragon in disbelief as it half-slithered, half-glided back to its space beside Claire's worktable and coiled itself up for a sun nap. "Something like that," Claire said with a smirk, turning back to the table with a dismissive wave. "I think she's telling you to watch your step until you get the hang of things." Another aide came running up then, skidding to a stop with a short salute. "News, ma'am." "All right," Claire replied with a nod, then looked to Maya as she went to follow him. "Make sure he gets where he needs to be."

....Well. Just when I thought the shenanigans would never reach a critical height, Kishi proves me wrong. So Madara's plan this whole time was to put everyone under a genjutsu and essentially control the world. From the Moon. (Nice timing, amirite?) Why? Because there's no hope for true peace in the world. I have no words for the level of utter fail that this trite reasoning has brought upon the world. Four-hundred and sixty-seven chapters to reveal one of the most overused villain raison d'êtres in modern literature. --;

The warning has already been put out there that excessive vulgarity isn't something that's kosher in this venture. Like Al said, we're not holding people to Puritan standards, but we do expect it to be used only if and when necessary. As far as the post itself goes, we mentioned before that if the NPC or PC would actually use that kind of language, then okay. However, if it's seen to be being used as a crutch, that's -not- okay. I've read through the post and that did stand out to me (not necessarily in a good way), but given the NPC's behavior, it's not entirely out of the way. I'll have to discuss it with my counterpart, but as of now, the post stands as "acceptable".

Okay, what I'm going to say needs to be taken very seriously. Therefore, it requires drastic measures. Metagamers will be eaten by a Metagross. What is metagaming, you might say. Well, metagaming is, essentially, cheating. It is taking information that you've gathered from the GM and using it for your personal benefit (like, say, not getting injured or killed) or to make something happen that -wouldn't- happen if you did not have that information. Like I said. Cheating. Don't. Do it. Also, CaNz, Indi has something of a point. The move naming thing can slide, since the trainer that was using it is somewhat inexperienced and whatnot. (Of course, more seasoned trainers wouldn't have to go so far because their Pokémon are conditioned to certain attack/defense patterns.) However, Indi is right in saying that the post you presented does not match with your sign-up. -That's- the problem we have with the post. If you're going to present one character, you can't use someone different in the actual game. It doesn't work that way. We do want this to be fun, and sorry if this comes off somewhat short, but there are certain things we have to be smart about, lol.

The old man sighed as he ran a tanned, somewhat age-worn and calloused hand through his silver-streaked hair, looking at the long-collapsed entrance to the caves just outside of Cerulean City. Things were never convenient when you needed them to be, he thought. True, the entrance to the caves had been sealed for some time, due to a cave-in, but that wasn't what bothered him. It was how he was still going to make use of the caves now that weighed heavy on his mind. The ragtag group of misfits that had gathered to fight against the League were at a huge disadvantage. They were small in number, supplies and forces at present: a relative tri-fecta of bad news. Still, they had decided to make a stand and they couldn't just play possum now. The League wouldn't allow a bold display of insurrection to just go lazily by. They would come after them; it was only a matter of time. And if the League wanted to run them over, Flint and Morty agreed that they weren't just going to let them play steamroller. The Cerulean Cave presented them a small advantage: a place for a home base that would be easy to defend and provide the space to hold troops, supplies and ample space for whatever else they needed to do. There was the issue of the native Pokémon, but those were easily handled with barricades and other blocking measures. What they needed now was a place where they could plan out their moves before the League came crashing down on all of them and this was one of the few places that they could do that. If they could get in. "Sir," said a young man, running up huffing as if he had run a marathon. Flint recognized him as one of the ones he had sent to help a surveyor with scouting the area, but he hadn't seen him for hours. Noticing that he was streaked with sweat and grime, Flint couldn't help but raise an eyebrow. "What's going on, son? Where have you been?" "Mt. Moon, sir." Flint blinked. "Mt. Moon? Why the blazes were you out that far?" "Because I asked him to come along with me." Flint turned at the voice, watching the young woman it belonged to walk up, swiping a pair of thick goggles off her head and stuffing them into the satchel she held in front of her. A Magmar stayed a pace behind her, doing a kind of shuffling walk to keep up with her strides. "And why is that, Ms. Marsters?" "Because you made mention of Mt. Moon previously, Mr. Stone," Valencia replied, stopping a respectful distance from him and shifting her satchel back to her hip. "I figured there would be no problem with checking out all our options, here." Flint took a moment to study the young woman. He wasn't what he expected to show up when he petitioned the Fletcher Company to come along with him to Cerulean and help with the surveying. She was moderately leggy, tanned and had a nice young face. Not what you would expect to see when you ask for someone that knew how to blow something up. Not only that, but when she was placed on a job, she seemed to like to take things into her own hands and make full use of the people around her—a trait that Flint wasn't so sure he liked. "I don't want my people going out so far in times like these. At least, not without informing me." "Look," the woman said with a small pointed look, running a hand through her hair which only served to make the wild look of the back of her hair look even more so. "With all due respect, you asked me to come and try to find a way to get you in this cave. I'm doing that. You mentioned the mountain, so I went to check it out. I want to look at all sides of something when I do my job. I'm sorry I didn't get permission first, but I figured a couple things: One, that the only threat in there would be the local Pokémon and two, if there would be anyone in there that would considered an enemy, they'd have to come from this direction, since you've got the routes from Pewter covered. So yes, I kind of skirted you a bit, but you want this done, don't you?" Flint blinked twice, sighed as he ran hand through his hair in kind (which made Valencia's mouth quirk the tiniest bit) and looked at the woman with a slight edge. "What did you find, Marsters." "It's possible to get into the caves by going through the walls of the eastern tunnels. I scouted them and I've found a few places where the walls are thin enough to be broken through in a decent amount of time. It's also possible to cover the tracks afterward." Flint thought for a minute. If it were possible to get into the caves and still have a hidden entrance, that would buy them all the more time before the League could figure out where they had taken up residence. "How long would it take to get through?" "Working carefully to cover up afterward? Day and a half. Maybe two." "And to cover up?" "Four, five hours. There's also the need of separate escape routes..." "We can worry about those once we get inside and start setting things up." "So I take it that means you want to go ahead with this?" "It does." "All right. I'll send for a second crew." As the woman turned and walked away, her Magmar not far behind, Flint turned back to look at the entrance of the cave. The plan he was going by now would provide decent shelter and enough peace of mind for everyone to gather their wits and prepare more diligently. Once it was done, though, was when the real issues would begin. He would have to gather enough troops from both Kanto and Johto together to make the base effective and yet leave enough to defend what the group already had, which, while small, was scattered enough to make things difficult. Flint sighed and ran a hand through his hair, absently thinking about how it was probably going to get a lot more grey before this was all over.

I would suggest that you not be in Mahogany Town due to rapidly escalating tension there. You may want to start at another of the cities (possibly even a League-controlled city, to give a view of what that's like, since at present, your character isn't really a battler so much as support and can go incognito).

Well, first and foremost, I would like to welcome Timber into the RP. Feel free to post at your discretion. (Please note, though, Timber, that Sinnoh is currently extremely isolationist and has been for years, so you would be extremely hard pressed to get even within glancing distance of the island.) To those folks that are currently in Ecruteak, the invasion has started and you are currently ordered to guard the borders. The fight is very hard since the enemy has a bit of a drop on you, and it's very insect-filled, so have fun with that. ;p CaNz: Don't worry too much about it. ;p
