Wow, haven't done this in a while... Well, first thing, welcome to OB. Glad you could join us. :) Second, when you start a thread, it really should have a bit more substance to it. True, you have asked who likes the series, but it would be nice to give others who haven't read it (or haven't even heard of it) some description as to what it's like. It's courteous, at the very least. Third, you both might want to put a little more effort towards posting things that would lead to a bit more discussion than "I got this person!" in an anime quiz, namely because we consider that spamming around here, heh. For all those reasons, I'm going to shut this thread down, but feel free to start up a new one. We need a good Eyeshield thread in here. Thread Closed

Alan makes a fairly valid point there. Also with regards to the environment, word is starting to spread more about global warming and its effects, so people are starting to become worried. With a bit more pressure, the United States should start actively trying to start doing things to combat it (like maybe actually signing the friggin' Kyoto Protocol like most of the rest of the world already has). Yes, it is true that there is still room for improvement in the world, but the fact is that the world will never be perfect. The only thing we can do is stay informed of what's going on and try our best not to make things worse, really.

Kabuto is likely either a) attempting to find one of the Akatsuki members and warn them of Sasuke's imminent showdown with Itachi, b) going to meet up with some other associates he's made over the years for whatever reason or c) trailing Sasuke to see what happens in regards to the fight. As far as Sasuke's new goal, there's a battle brewing and I'm not talking about a brother vs. brother match. Sasuke and Naruto are going to cross paths and it's going to end up being Neo Team 7 vs. Hebi before it's Sasuke vs. Itachi. I have a feeling that Naruto & Co. will be absolutely PWNED by Hebi in the first round, but they'll likely train some and face them another time before Sasuke manages to get within striking range of Itachi. Then of course, after the fight, Itachi and Kisame will arrive, claim an exhausted Naruto and flee, leaving Sasuke to seethe and give chase. Then fun happens at Akatsuki HQ. This is all merely a theory, of course. You're free to ridicule it all you like, lol.

Hm, I think that's actually somewhat of a feasible plan, mystic. Sure, it does leave for a lot of unanswered questions and would probably lead to an epic battle if Sasuke ended up back in Konoha (he is wanted, after all), but it's actually one of the better theories I've heard for what Sasuke's doing at the moment.
Anyway, on to 351:
Well, Juugo gives a whole new definition to schizophrenia. Though I thought he would be a whole lot younger than what he appears to be now (he had a bit of a Hitsugaya-taichou look about him). Though I am particularly interested in his character now. What's more interesting to me right now, though, is that it seems that Sasuke has started to tap into Orochimaru's powers, seeing as though he was able to stop Juugo and Suigetsu cold just by standing in between them and he had the whole snake arm thing going on. Some interesting things are definitely afoot there.

You are correct in your assumption that the administrators at Virginia Tech waited two hours after the first shooting to send out an e-mail. According to sources, their reasoning was that they believed the gunman had already fled the campus. As far as my personal reaction to all of it... it's horrible to say the least. I feel sorry for the families that lost loved ones in the incident, but I know this is going to brew a firestorm of angry parents across the nation asking what the schools are doing to protect their children from something like this, just like they did after Columbine and other similar incidents. Not only that, but seeing as the shooter was in VA on a student visa (I'm assuming from what I gather of the reports), it'll likely put some form of strain on the international education programs at universities as well. Speaking as someone that works for the International Department at a college, I can tell you right now that's something we don't need. There are already enough hurdles for international students to cross before they can come over here. They don't need any more. I saw TMNT with some friends last weekend and I went into it expecting the worst. Needless to say, the movie exceeded my expectations. As with others, there were some aspects of the movie that I didn't like, namely Splinter's replacement voice actor (although I always thought Mako did good work before he died last year) and the slowness of movie at the beginning. As far as Don and Mikey's lack of screentime, I felt that was going to be the case when the movie brought up what had been going with the Turtles since Shredder's demise.
Raph and Leo have had their tiff going on for God knows how long and it was nice to see it finally come to a head, so to speak. I also liked how they actually had Raph win, for once. As far as I can remember, Leo always won their spars when they fought at the base.
Overall, I really liked the film and thought it was a good throwback to the good old days of the franchise.
And since Karai's last line to the team left plenty of room for a sequel, they have a chance to push it further next time.

I personally don't think that Karin's power is all that great. I mean, yes, if there were an assassination mission, it would come in real handy, but other than that, it's pretty "eh," if you ask me. Anyway, Suigetsu and Karin will eventually have it out, I imagine, which should be an interesting encounter when it comes down to it. As for the whole Juugo vs. Sasuke match that's about to go down, taking into account that Juugo is a little more than completely unstable, his tactics might be completely random and could possibly throw Sasuke off his game, seeing as though the primary use for the Sharingan is reading people's styles and moves. Of course, seeing as though Sasuke is a main character, he more than likely won't be too seriously injured, though it'll be interesting to see at least some of Juugo's powers. In regards to another matter that has piqued my interest, let's talk about Orochimaru's experimentation. So far in the Naruto world, we really haven't come across people that have two bloodline limits. At least, we didn't know we had. Although I can't really come to a proper conclusion, seeing as though Sasuke was strong to begin with, it seems that people with two bloodline limits can become a fairly major force to be reckoned with. Even without Orochimaru's training, Sasuke managed to hold his own against a Kyuubi-enraged Naruto way back when, which always had me wondering. What do you all think about it?

Otakupedia Entries/Suggestions/Discussion thread
Kei replied to Charles's topic in General Discussion
Holy famofo, the Flash returns. And I thought I'd never live to see the day, lol. Welcome back, Connor. You were sorely missed. Anyway, as far as I go on the Staff list, I started up modding Pokémon on July 11, 2002 and kept going until it got the axe when v7 started up (that specific date is beyond my memory at the moment), which is when I started modding Manga Workshop. And while it's great that you actually went ahead and did the entire staff history, one has to wonder, just how much spare time do you have, Nerdsy? lol -
One of the main purposes of Manga Alley is to get help with working on your artwork. With that being said, I have decided to create this topic. Any people wishing to ask for help from others will post a "help wanted" post here. Any topics created from now on regarding this subject will either be merged with this topic, or deleted entirely. Thanks much, Kei

Manga Manga Alley Rules & Etiquette (Please Read Before Posting)
Kei posted a topic in Otaku Central
Manga Alley Guidelines Welcome to Manga Alley! In this neck of the woods, you can come here to talk about the wonderful world of manga, both those that are widely published and things that you have created yourself. We encourage that everyone post here, but we do have a few specific rules that we ask that everyone follow: 1) Regarding Already-Existing Manga This rule is very simple. All you have to do is run a search in the forum about the manga you want to post about before creating a new thread about it. It saves us Mods a lot of time and energy and it saves a lot of embarrassment on your part as well. Pretty soon, we should have the Manga Directory thread back up, which will make searching for pre-existing threads a lot easier. 2) Regarding Original Manga A couple of things here. First and foremost, since this is something that you've created, not a lot of people are going to know what you're talking about if you jot down notes that you've written in your own form of shorthand. Be precise and clear when you explain things. It helps out readers a bunch. Second, if you have pages, you can feel free to post them...in the Art Studio. I say this because the Art Studio is where art typically goes on OtakuBoards with very few exceptions. You can feel free to post a link to the files that you've uploaded in AS, but the Alley is mainly for discussing and helping with written ideas. Besides, the artsy folk over there would be a big help with giving you drawing tips and suchlike. ^_~ Of course, the normal posting rules of OB also apply here, just like every other forum. If you have any questions, don't be afraid to shoot me or indifference a PM asking for help. That's what we're here for after all. :) Regards, Kei -

Kishimoto is made of win and victory for the Ichiraku scene. XD Anyway, it seems interesting that Suigetsu was once a pupil of Zabuza's. Makes me wondering if any other ghosts from the Old Team 7's past will be rearing their heads again. It'll also be interesting to finally have a female antagonist again. :D

Not really. We had two events in a row (in fact they overlapped at one point) and it's only been a month since the Nifty Fifty ended.[/color']
I suppose it wasn't fair to say "as it stands now." However, prior to Nifty Fifty and DramaFe-- I mean, Otaku Idol 2, it seemed like events were pretty few and far between. That could have been just because I didn't keep up with Legionnaires, but meh.
Also, how old is your monitor? O_o[/color']
To be honest, I couldn't tell you, lol. I run an old iBook that I was given for free last year. It works well enough to do what I want it to most of the time, so I suppose I can't complain too much. XD
If you're still running at 800x600 you need to stop living in the past.[/FONT']
Some of us don't really have a choice. ^_~ Anyway, on to the subject at hand: 4. Overall, I think we're pretty much covered in terms of forums and things. I'm in agreement with Raiyuu that there's at least one forum that could be collapsed into another (i.e. The Underground), but other than that, we're golden on that front. As far as other things on the site go...the only thing I could possibly think of might be that we have our events be a bit more regular. As it stands now, the Community Events forum stays pretty stagnant for a while after an event until the next one comes along. Maybe setting up a system where there's an event every two or so months could help? *shrugs*
At present, it is only confirmed that Itachi is in the process of going blind. During Kakashi's battle with him, Kakashi made a mention of it and Itachi confirmed it in his silence. I remember that chapter pretty vividly. Anywho, you have a point in that Jump's preview text is incredibly misleading, Raiyuu. It is quite possible that Sasuke has Orochimaru trapped in his subconscious with the possibility of him being able to drive Sasuke insane (which would prove interesting). As far as Sasuke joining the Akatsuki, I find that pretty unlikely. If anything, he'll try and defeat them to further test his power, saving Itachi for last. That's my assumption, anyway.

-
You may have a point with that. I think that Sasuke has been trying to prove a point thus far with testing his powers: that you don't have to kill for the sole purpose of finding out how strong you are. He's bascially trying to prove that he's better than his brother by going that route. That it took me that long to catch on to that fact is pretty retarded on my part. XD Anyway, taking that into account, he still may or may not kill Kabuto when it comes down to it. Like I've said, Kabuto is a badass mofo in his own right (you pretty much have to be to pull some crap like he did with both the ANBU and the Akatsuki). He could have a serious throwdown with Sasuke and manage to hold out for a decent amount of time if and when it came down to it. However, I suppose it all depends on Sasuke's "whims," if he's still alive. XD

-
As I've said before, Kabuto is no fool. If it does turn out that Orochimaru was bested by Sasuke's Master Sharingan (as I surmise happened, considering that Snakes got away from Itachi before because Itachi let him go), Kabuto will likely try to be of some help to Sasuke, seeing as any attempts to bring back help would be ignored due to his previous alliance with Snakes and Sasuke would likely kill him before he got too far. Of course, Sasuke would likely kill Kabuto anyway if he doesn't think he'll be of any use, though that's somewhat unlikely with Kabuto's level of skill. What piques my interest at the moment is something a bit different, though. If Sasuke is indeed still around and he manages to obtain the Mangekyou Sharingan, that boy can some serious damage. Since he's younger and has more than a few tricks up his sleeves (i.e. Curse Overlimits), if he beats Itachi, he could likely take on {and take out) the rest of the Akatsuki, reason being that Itachi is probably one of their stronger members. Of course, he'll eventually go blind like Itachi is, but that likely wouldn't hold him back much. What do you all think?
It certainly looks interesting enough. The art style seems like something I would be able to tolerate. What intrigues me most is the fact that this breaks out of the monotony of what's popular at the moment. There is only so much crazy action/adventure one can take, lol. While does seem like it would carry a few action elements, it appears to lean more toward the side of psychological mayhem than anything else. Of course, I could be totally off on that description, but that's what I get out of it from reading the synopses I have thus far. I certainly want to give the series a try, that's for certain, lol. I'll try to find it the next time I go to Borders.
There's not a whole lot of places that ol' Snakes has left to run. I suppose that he could head back toward the Hidden Village of Song and hide out near there, but I know that the ninja over there aren't his biggest fans either, nowadays. Going to Konoha would pretty much equal suicide right now, seeing as Tsunade would likely pwn him beyond belief if she caught wind of him even being in the general vicinity of Konoha (and she could likely pull it off, seeing as Snakes is really weak right now). You're probably right in guessing that if there is a fight, Kabuto is going to jump in and help out...unless of course, it turns out that Kabuto has shifted his alliances. I know that sounds pretty out of the way, but you also have to consider that Kabuto is by no means an idiot. He knew from the start that messing around with Sasuke could lead to trouble and that's exactly what happened. Knowing him, he would likely side with the folks that are liable to come out unscathed in the end. It'd be one hell of a plot twist, but it's possible. Of course, even if that was the case, there wouldn't be a whole lot of things stopping Sasuke from killing him, though Kabuto would give him a hell of a fight. He's made a lot of people realize that medical ninjas are not to be trifled with when they find their back against the wall. It'll be interesting to see how the whole thing turns out.

I was more surprised by the fact that Kakashi said that Naruto had surpassed him. I mean sure, we all knew it had to happen sometime, but I wasn't expecting it to come up so soon... Our favourite #1 noisy ninja is growing up! *sniff* As far as the chapter on the whole goes, it screams of filler syndrome. While there were a few interesting tidbits in there (namely Kurenai being pregnant!!), there wasn't a lot that made you say "OMGWTFCOOL." Still, it was a nice chapter to read, since Shika's dad came in. (I don't know why, but I really like that character. Oo; )

Mm, I wouldn't say that the original version of the anime and the manga differ all that drastically. The "lost season," as it's been dubbed, does actually follow the very beginning of the manga series, which give you a lot of background on Yami and Yugi's relationship, as well as some of the other main characters, i.e. Jounouchi and Honda. It's really good, actually. (Although there are those random filler arcs that introduce weird characters that no one likes, as per all other anime that are long enough. Bleh.) Now, when 4Kids got hold of it, that's when things went way south, as everyone here can probably attest to. They had started releasing the unedited DVDs some time ago, but apparently stopped doing so after the second volume for whatever reason. I personally would have liked if they'd have continued, but eh. 4Kids is past all explanation already, so it's not surprising.

Well, it wasn't necessarily close to where I live, but while I was in Florida over winter vacation, there was a mall shooting in Bryton Beach, which is pretty much right up the road from where I was staying. According to reports, it was something about gang rivalries that led up to the shooting in the mall. Neither of them were killed, but they were both arrested. I think there were a few injuries among the others in the mall, though. As far as my opinion on the matter... Some people just simply have issues that they have trouble working out by themselves or with others and just put it in the worst form possible: violent outbursts. Whether or not they just need more specialized help or to be put in some sort of confinement program until they can handle themselves better, I don't know. However, as most would agree, some method of trying to help these folks out should be thought up. Just a thought.

So, 340:
So you were right, Ikillion. The "Rasenshuriken" turned out to be a close-range jutsu after all. Seems like he wasn't unpredictable enough to come up with a long-range Wind jutsu, though I'm interested in seeing "how cool it looks," haha. Also, for some reason, the random Sasuke cameo ticked me off. I don't know why. >.>;

It's not true that all manga is black and white all the time. Manga in magazines typically have the first few pages in colour sometimes if it's a highly popular series. As far as whether or not it should be in colour, if you feel that it makes a difference in how the story is told, then go for it. The manga can always be printed in black and white at a later date, as to be discussed with by your editor, if you so happen to get picked up by anyone. Like I tell all the people I teach, "It's your story. Tell it the way you want."
-
I'm really thinking that this is a long-range jutsu here, taking into account that it's taken on a fuuma shuriken form. Shuriken = long-range implements. Also, you have to take into account that Naruto has never been one to go along with the order, so to speak. Him creating a long-range jutsu from an elemental style that's typically close-combat wouldn't be that out of the way.
However, I can also see your point, Ikillion, so we'll just have to wait and see.
