Wow. Just wow. I really was expecting (or even thought it was possible) for Naruto to turn the Rasengan into a long-range jutsu. Not only that, he's managed to up the power, and taking into account the amount of strength it wielded prior to this... It's just pwnage if it hits. Wild. I'm really interested to see how this plays out now. Seems like Kakuzu's up against way tougher odds now. The one thing I'm worried about, though, is how that will come into play if they have to go up against Kisame and Itachi again. They may have another one-up on Kisame, but since Itachi is a master genjutsu-user, it's really all about catching him before he catches you. And since he can hit long distance with his techniques (which is sick and wrong on many levels)... It should prove an interesting fight. This is assuming, of course, that Sasuke doesn't get to him first.

*gasp and a half* Both of these are amazing and I thank you both very much. *hugs* I really appreciate this and I will try to use them both. :)

Ahoy, there. I find myself in the need of my signature being a tad more presentable, and therefore find myself here, at the will of you, the oh-so-glorious artists of OB. I bow to your skill. Anyway, as I've said, I'm needing a new banner and possess no skill of my own, so I'm here. This time around, I think it would be nice to have a banner of everyone's favourite SNK orphan, Rock Howard. I've attached a picture to this post, which you are free to utilize said banner however you wish. All that I ask is that it have "Best from Now" and "Rock Howard" somewhere in it. Other than that, do what you feel. ^-^ I thank you in advance, anyone that feels so inclined to lend a hand. -Kei

Yes, it would be interesting, but it would be a hell of a time to explain. Even by Naruto standards. >.>; Anyway, on to talk of 338:
Well, I was quite happy with this chapter, actually. Although we only got a prelude to "the new Naruto," as Yamato put it, we did get to see Shikamaru's most badass moment thus far. Although I'm not a fan of him taking up Asuma's smoking habit, I'm interested to see what he does with his will of fire. Methinks Shikamaru will become more of a character to watch in later chapters.

Yes, it is safe to say that Yami Bakura is pretty much evil. The events of the fifth volume of Millennium World pretty much cemented this fact. Also, Vol. 5 = MINDBLOW. ._. As far as the setting goes, I also like it a lot. You can tell that Takahashi researched a lot books about Ancient Egypt when he created it, as it doesn't really seem all that two-dimensional like some other manga do. It really does suck you in.

-
I wouldn't necessarily call Yami's personality early on evil. Taking into account the things that are revealed later on in the plot, his actions would probably have been unwittingly inspired by past events.
They did have some pretty brutal punishments in Ancient Egypt, lol.
In terms of the series itself, I've always found it very interesting. Obviously, I appreciate it more than the 4Kids adaptation, so I'm very interested in seeing the original version (whatever happened to 4Kids releasing the uncut versions, anyway?). My favourite series thus far would have to be Millienium World, simply due to the fact that one of my favourite characters gets so much back story development.
Bakura for the win.

Yeah, that was definitely a misread, lol.
At no time was Jinnei part of the Shinsengumi. There was one point when they were after him, though. They just never caught him, obviously. Or he would have been very, very dead, because the Shinsegumi does not play. >.>;
A good way to know whether a thread already exists or not would be to check the Manga Workshop Directory located at the top of the forum. We place a link to all titles that have a thread here. There's no thread for this title yet, so you're in the clear. ;)

Ah, that was a typo on my part. Sorry about that. Anyway,
I'm personally not a fan of the theory myself, I was merely stating that this could possibly be a fact. Bringing back characters from a (mostly) secondary character's past to eventually pwn everyone is rather cliché and shows somewhat of a lack of effort on the writer's part, in my eyes. This is especially true in this case, taking into account how badly Obito was crushed and the fact that he had only begun to come into his own when he was killed. Although he considered himself Kakashi's rival, the two were obviously on different skill levels. So, all in all, if it does come to pass that Tobi is Obito, I'll be very disappointed in Kishimoto, indeed.

-
With the way things are looking at the moment,
I'm thinking that Yamato will probably be Team 7 Commander for quite some time, as Kakashi will probably be doing more ANBU missions hunting for the other Akatsuki. Speaking of the Akatsuki, I want to talk about their newest member, Toobi. From the way I see it, I'm leaning heavily toward the side that he's actually Obito, and not just from the fact that his name would be an acronym of the former. From the way that he acted in the Kakashi Gaiden chapters, he acted just like the old Naruto did, which stays quite in line with how he acted when he and Deidara captured the Sanbi. The only thing that I can't figure out is how he would have been able to come back from having half his body crushed under so many boulders.
What are you all's thoughts on the matter?
-
Hey there, everyone. I've decided to take it upon myself to revive an old idea that I think had a lot of potential, but I need some image help to get things started. I don't want to reveal everything about it quite yet, as it is very much in the planning stages, but what I can say is that no news is good news at the moment. :) What I would require would be along the lines of headers and some background, but it's not a lot of work, really, and taking from what I've learned about Photoshop and the like myself, it probably wouldn't take that long to do. If you would like more information, please send me a PM. Thanks in advance, Kei

The OtakuBoards Nifty Fifty of 2006 (Nominations Thread)
Kei replied to Shy's topic in General Discussion
Kei posting outside Manga Workshop? My God. *** What is is?: Charles [person] Why is it nifty?: Not only has Charles been an excellent member since he became Staff way back when (and probably even before that), he's simply an incredibly cool guy that truly defines cAttitude (and niftiness). Charles has always been an A+ member to me, even though we haven't agreed on one or two things in the past. Plus, he makes with the pictures and loves cats almost as much as I do. Us cat-lovers gotta stick together, ya know. What is is?: Otaku Idol 2 [Event] Why is it nifty?: Never has so much drama been in one place on the Internet ever. It's better than soaps, ER and a paternity test episode of Maury put together. What is is?: Aaryanna_Mom [person] Why is it nifty?: Aaryanna_Mom can simply be declared nifty due to the fact that she's the first parent of a member to join and actually really become part of the community. But this is not enough. Aaryanna_Mom also provides good insight into everything she replies to and is all around a nice person. Yay, motherly insight. That's all from me. For now. -
Yes, I would largely suggest that you elaborate, otherwise this thread will have to be closed due to ambiguity, among other things.

Well, Chapter 334:
As we thought, it wasn't that easy to take Kakuzu out. Though I still don't fully understand his powers, nor why Hidan looked so pained when one of the shadow creatures bit it. Besides the fact that Kakuzu can use jutsu through these things, they're still pretty mysterious. And did anyone else notice the mysterious disappearance of Kakashi's jacket in the last few pages? Oo;

To put images in your signature is easy enough. Use this simple little prompt-dohicky: IMAGE URL GOES HERE (Note: Be sure to take out the spaces.) As for HTML, that's typically reserved for The Arena and the Community Event forums, as those are the only places HTML code can be posted. I don't often use it myself for a various assundry of reasons (mainly because I fail with it), but I'm sure anyone in the forum would be more than willing to give a helping hand if asked nicely.
-
According to the way that Yamato and Kakashi explained it, it would certainly seem that way. However, one must also take into account that Kakuzu is a member of the Akatsuki
and has proved he's good at acting in dire peril in previous encounters, so he may not be quite down and out just yet. I'm more interested in seeing the progress of Naruto's new Wind-jutsu at the moment. The fact that he was able to create a crater that wide without it even being fully perfected just yet proves that he might indeed have a formidable ace up his sleeve in the eminent battle against both the Akatsuki and Sasuke. Although something did cross my mind during the tail-end of the conversation Yamato and Naruto were having before being summoned to Asuma's funeral. Naruto said that "the only way to save a dying fire is with wind." But then again, too strong a wind will put a fire out. That being said, there's a definite chance that the Naruto vs. Sasuke Take 2 will be a fight to the death.
What are you all's thoughts?

Mm, as far as I know, the last thing he worked on in terms of manga might be Sand Land, which came out a few years ago. I know he did the character art for Dragon Quest VIII (since he does design work for the entire series, anyway) as well, but there hasn't been anything much on the comic front. I'll look into it, unless Dagger can provide an off-hand answer. Lord knows she's better versed in this than I am without research, lol. Edit: According to my research, he's actually still in the manga business. He's currently working on Kochikame, a one-shot omake. The last full-volume work he did was Neko Majin Z back in 2000.

The thing with "the way people put community events on some sort of pedestal," as you call it, is that things that are put into the Community Events forum are supposed to be something to be remembered. They help make up a significant amount of our history and colour. Expectations are high for community events because they should be somewhat higher than normal. As I've said, things don't have to be awe-inspiring, but they do have to show that at least some form of effort went into them.

Otakupedia Entries/Suggestions/Discussion thread
Kei replied to Charles's topic in General Discussion
I suppose you both have a point. However, seeing as I can't really say that I made any true impact on the forum (save for being able to answer almost any question about the anime at the time), I would feel better if someone else wrote it. Des was there from the beginning; he could do it. I hate to seem like I'm trying to sluff the work off on someone else, but writing about myself just makes me feel edgy, heh. -
We'll never have an accurate view of OB history and culture if people choose to omit themselves from certain articles. The both of you have a long history with that forum in particular, and it should be acknowledged.
It is true that we both have a long history there, but it wouldn't be right if we wrote it ourselves, since it has the potential to come off a bit biased and things of the ilk. If someone else were to write it, that's fine, but I just don't feel comfortable writing about myself when there's the possibility I can come off tooting my own horn. -
Everyone simmer down a bit before we have a repeat of recent events. Lord knows we don't need it, lol. Anyway, while it is true that all of those events had a limited amount of participants, the fact remains that the RPG scene has been done repeatedly in the past in terms of events. As James and many other people have said, it's okay to branch out into things besides RPGs for events. It takes a little more thought and effort, yes, but at least it reaches out beyond the people that frequent Anthology and Adventure Arena, which frankly, most of those events didn't. That's why I was personally happy when the Scavenger Hunt came 'round; it was something everyone could easily get involved in and enjoy. As for your suggestion of a popularity contest, Delta, while I have a strong inclination that it's a joke suggestion (and a small hope that it is), I feel it's a very bad idea since a) there are plenty of people here who don't need their egos inflated further, lol, and b) it causes unneeded animosity between people and starts a whole "No one likes me! X
Oh, long[/i'] before that. I don't remember when you became a mod (sometime after the switch to VB, right?) or when you joined, but I was really only a terrible member in my first week, after which I realized that the jokes my friends at the time enjoyed wouldn't cut it here. And thus, I instantly matured to a level relative to the rest of the board.
I joined in August 2001, which should be...late v2 or early v3, methinks. I really don't remember. I became a Mod in July 2002. Four years and holding on somehow. XD
I know I'm missing a large chunk from the later months, but I wasn't around/don't remember a lot about it. And I was probably being a little dramatic about the "forum suffered as a result," so go ahead and set me straight on that.
Right-o. Pokémon: Addendum Although vaporjolt and Altron Gundam had almost altogether disappeared from the forum, upon the release of Pokémon Precious Metals series, interest in creating the best possible team saw a resurgence and resulted in many threads from members asking for team ratings. To reduce clutter, a sticky thread was made that remained open until the forum's dissolution into the Video Game Archives upon the launch of v7. Trivia threads also made up a noticeable amount of content in the Pokémon forum, the most prominent of them being the series of "NoodleZ Poké Challenge!" threads made by Ryan. However, as most trivia threads go, the original poster eventually lost interest and it was taken over by another member, then died all together. To Shy: Modesty is the best policy. ;p -
And what do you mean you're paying for it yourself? Is Adam being cheap again? I'm going to be seeing him in January, so I'll beat him a few times if that'll help matters. If not, I'll probably beat him anyway. We have a lot of history together.
You'll have to get through me first, dear. Playing bodyguard apparently comes with my job description. :p
Coincidently, that link appears to be the day I registered. that is so awesome. But nobody read my old posts, please. They're too embarassing. [/color']
It must have been far before I came and was a PokéMod with you, because I can't remember anything too terrible. -
Mm... I'm not quite I'm in total agreement with you there, Sandy-dear. While spur-of-the-moment games can be fun (since everyone knows they've had their kicks off of one some time in the past), you also have to take into account the level of expectation that past events have set up. Am I saying that one specific event has to be awe-inspiring? Not at all. But I'm not saying you can just go throw something in there all willy-nilly, either. I suppose that I'm saying that it has to be thought out on some level; in other words, some actual effort has to be put into it. Not blood, sweat and tears, mind, but a bit more than general spur-of-the-moment things typically have.

Ohio Mother Accused of Microwaving her Baby to Death
Kei replied to ChibiHorsewoman's topic in General Discussion
I live in the area and I've heard about this on the local news. Before I get into my opinions on the matter, I'd like to point out that the mother hasn't been proven guilty as of yet, so I wouldn't be quite so quick to judge her. Anyway, I was horrified at the thought that someone would even think about doing something like this, not to mention actually carrying it out. It's a horrible thing to kill anyone, but to do it in such a cruel manner and to an infant, someone who hasn't even really have a chance to enjoy life yet, is truly unforgivable in my opinion. Definitely a candidate for those that deserve to go under the jail. As for why a parent would do something like this.... I honestly don't have a real answer. As you stated, CHW, there are plenty of alternatives available for people who believe they don't have the capabilities at present to handle raising a child. It could come out of fear of being looked down upon by family, friends and the child itself later in life, but is that really worth killing the child over? You can always attempt to find the child later and explain yourself; yes, there will be some resentment, but hopefully, that person would be able to understand in some form of the circumstances that led to the path their life took. It's really a shame when I hear of a parent or anyone that would kill a child for a large amount of reasons that I won't go into for fear of rambling on longer than I already have. Seriously, some folks really need to evaluate themselves and their morals once in a while.
