Ooo, #5 would be the n00b from Solo's "Enter the Net" fanfic...I think.
-
Probably because of the way katakana works. Since there's no "L" in the Japanese language, they have to use the next closest thing, that being "R." As far as the translation goes, if there's a mistake, that's usually the fault of the editor, but from what I've heard of the process, they usually check to make sure they at least have the names right.

Well, it really might help if you tell us a bit more about the series on the whole. I know that I personally have no idea what you're on about, and there are likely others, so kindly fill us in and remember to do so in the future, 'kay? ^_~

I've read the first book, and like you, I enjoy the art style quite a bit (though at first glance, I thought it looked somewhat like CLAMP's stuff). Due to the fact that the two main characters look so much alike, I got confused at some points thinking that one character was another, but other than that, I enjoy it very much. There's a demon that I'm particularly fond of that's pretty funny (and slightly bishie), but I can't remember his name. I believe he's Bishu's father. I want to see more of him, heh.

The answer to #7 would be Doc. Thank God for my insane amount of Disney knowledge.
-
Hm, well, I think I'm going to say that the answer to #4 would be a Private Message. Providing you have pop-up notification enabled, you can always tell when you get one; "giving them away" could mean forwarding; and never can tell when people get them, unless you oft check the delivery system.
-
I'm going to go out on a limb and say that #10 would be the spoiler tags. You can't use colour with them (or it'll show through) and you have to highlight them to see what's under. ^^
They all have merit and potential (mainly because I suggested them), but I agree with Random on the fact that there would have to be a Sub-Forum created solely for this purpose, although I thought that was what the Arena Underground was for. A place where people go to get the lumps messaged out of their RPG's.[/color']
Bingo. Since The Underground is already there, there would be no need to have it be a separate sub-forum. Anyway, a place where someone could go to get help with posts doesn't sound like too bad of an idea. As has been said, some members are scared to ask more experienced members and Moderators for assistance, so a place to get help from "less intimidating" members could definitely help. Of course, it would require a lot of upkeep (as from what I'm imagining, it could get spammed up rather easily), but it's worth a go, in my opinion.

Actually, taking into account the fact that this is a somewhat poorly constructed post (in terms of what the member wants to discuss) and it's in the wrong forum, I'm going to go ahead and close this down. ghostunitxx, please try to remember that fanart and things of the like typically go in the Art Studio. Art in the Manga Workshop is usually limited to help with paneling and the like. Thanks. ^_~ Thread Closed

Answer removed for stupidity. --; Oh, well, it looks like all of them are answered in some form or another. Guess I'll just have to wait until next week.

What's sad is that it might actually work, DW. Haha. Anyway, awesome job with the past couple of comics. "All Hands on Deck" made me laugh much, heh. And you say that the comic might be too violent for newspapers... It's America, guy. We thrive on violence. :p

Since I'm not seeing the immediate connection between your question and manga techniques here, I'm going to do you a favor and mosey this on over to Art Studio. You'll likely get an answer sooner, anyway. *moves*
Heh, maybe. If I ever feel they're good enough. That's up to if the public would find them as amusing as us here on OB or on deviantART and such.
Funny. I was sitting in my cubicle the other day and one of the art directors for the paper saw the two comics of yours I had hanging up and thought they were hilarious. It might be something to definitely look into when you feel up to it, DW. Anyways, "One Flu Over the Dum-Dum's Nest" was pretty funny. Never thought a cold looked that bad. Maybe that's why you feel horrible when you get hit by one, heh. "Town Bully" also made me smile. ^^ Keep it up.

Might as well throw in my two-cents. Never have before. James- I've got love for the man, what can I say. He's a nice guy to chat with (even if he's more than a bit goofy at times) and he promised me a sexy party. On the beach, no less. :P Desbreko- All I want to do is steal his collection of Pokémon dolls. Dragon Warrior- I've always said that I want to meet every artist that I've ever admired. DW's no exception. Solo, Mimminx and JJ- For the longest time, we were a tight little clique. I demand a photo to remember that by! Charles and Shy- Because they make me smile. Jokopoko- Partly to see if our conversations are as long-paused as they are spaced out on AIM; partly because I want to see if his room if covered with wall-to-wall Transformer memorobilia. Adam- Does this really need any explaination? Alan- He's a strange, cynical little man and he fascinates me. I want to study him like a lab rat. Kidding. Seriously though, Alan's a really nice guy once you get to know him. I like him a lot, so it'd be nice to meet him. Plus, he gave me a home for Plushies. Bonus points for that. ---------------- Anyway, that's my little list. I've got a great deal of respect for all of them and love them to death. They make my day. ^^ Certainly some of the nicer people I've seen around the boards in my years here. If we could ever meet at any time, well... I could check something off my "Things to Do Before I Die" list. Oh, and have some fun with them. Can't forget that. EDIT: Damn, nearly forgot about Shin. Yeah, I've got to meet that loser, too. Getting me hooked on MST3K...Bastard. :P EDIT 2: Oh, I did forget about someone important. Raiyuu. While I had my Sonic RPG going, he was my little deus-ex-machina and I loved him for it. I never properly thanked him, so I have to meet him and give him a hug.

Allisa turned to see a woman only slightly older from herself looking at her with mild interest. Smiling nervously, she stepped back a pace. "Where the hell'd she come from?!" Clearing her throat slightly, allisa began smoothing imaginary wrinkles on her dress. "Forgive me for saying so, but you don't look like someone who doesn't appreciate a good go-'round on the dance floor." The prim-looking woman chuckled quietly. "You're right, my dear, I do. But the pickings aren't exactly enticing." "I... see..." Allisa said, stepping back again. The woman had begun staring at her oddly again. Obviously, it was setting her on edge. Something was telling her that it might be best to escape the current situation. Quickly glancing over her shoulder to look for a possible escape route, she saw the terrace and thought up a quick lie. She seemed to be good at that in times like these. "Oh, there's a friend of mine out there on the terrace! I should go say hello. Please excuse me." The woman seemed to be about to say something, but Allisa, who was trotting very quickly from her immediate presence, couldn't have cared less. Working her way through the slightly crowded area, she finally managed to reach the doors leading outside. Just as she was about to make her way out, however, she saw two men, one on the floor looking sheepishly at a broken vase; the other with a hard-to-place look on his face as he stared down at him. "Well, I ain't gettin' involved in that," Allisa thought to herself. Backing off and looking for a place to sit, as she suddenly found her feet hurting slightly from the heels, a row of empty chairs along the wall caught her eye and she made her way over, flopping down and setting her head in her hands. "I have no idea who to start askin' questions to," she began thinking. "Everyone around here looks like they're just here to enjoy this party. Except the one woman. She looked like she wanted to eat me." Allisa shuddered slightly as she remembered the look on the woman's face. "It's times like this I wish a deus-ex-machina would come out of nowhere like in all those damn books I read..."

Allisa looked herself over in the mirror one last time. The dress made her look fairly decent. A strapless number, it fit nicely enough to her frame, trailing off in the back to a short train. Of course, Allisa being self-conscious all her life, she could only think about how people might notice just how husky she is if they looked to hard. ?Presuming they don?t try an? kill me on sight. But that?d be kinda stupid, havin? me put on a dress and everything just so they could murder me. Then again, I do hear some weird shit like that on the news sometimes. At least, I used to...? Allisa shook herself, looking hard in the mirror. She didn?t have time to be depressed. There were things to take care of. ?I need to find out what the hell is going on here,? she said, smoothing back a stray piece of hair into the well-slicked bun she managed to pull together with the meager amount of hair care items the room had. The staff that provided the items obviously didn?t know how to deal with black hair. Allisa cursed the black half of her heritage every time she had to get her hair done properly. Straightening perms burn like a son of a bitch. Straightening herself, Allisa walked over, breathed a quick sigh and touched the panel. Surprised to hear the instructions to the ballroom spoken softly instead of the creepily-voiced death threat she was more than half-expecting, she opened the door and padded her way out into the hall. Seeing no one, but faint hearing voices in the direction that she was to go, she began slowly walking down the hall. ?Just keep it up, girl,? she thought to herself. ?Don?t let ?em see you scared as all hell.? Of course, her somewhat stiff movements, coupled with the fact that she?d only had the experience of walking in heels about three times in her life, would not only convince people that she was scared, but also that she was about to topple over at any moment and snap both her ankles in the process. Which was very likely to happen, considering her current streak of luck. She came to the doors of the ballroom just as soon as the small group of people ahead of her went in. In the back of her mind, she wondered if they were just as clueless as she was. In the front of her mind, however, she was considering the fact that they might be people she?d have to try and knock out if something went down. ?I ain?t a fighter, but that don?t mean I won?t reach out and touch a bitch if I have to,? she thought to herself as she attempted to peek into the room. Of course, all her thoughts vanished when she noticed just how gorgeous the ballroom was and only one thing replaced them. ?Holy shit.? Wall to wall glitz, just like in the movies. The fixtures on the walls, the decorations, the room itself; Allisa has never in her life thought that she?d be able to see something this extravagant with her own eyes live and in person. As she was so caught up with it, she never noticed the server standing silently next to her. ?Bon soir, mademoiselle. Can I get you something?? said the sharply-dressed man. Allisa jumped at his greeting, covering her hand with her heart briefly. The man looked slightly apologetic automatically, but Allisa waved a hand. ?No, don?t worry, I?m okay. You just startled me a bit, but it?s my own fault. I was so caught up in the beauty of this room that I didn?t even notice you there.? Adding on her best uppity chuckle, Allisa kicked herself mentally. It was hard switching forms of language and demeanor on the fly sometimes. She didn?t like doing it, since it was being a bit fake, but she?d learned a long time ago that there are certain times when the different halves of her heritage were better to use and this was a job for ?white snob.? ?I do apologize regardless, mademoiselle,? the servant replied. ?Please, come in and enjoy yourself. The other guests are still arriving, but there are many people already here to pass the time with. There are also refreshments, so do not be afraid to ask one of my fellow men to serve you.? With a bow, the man ushered Allisa further into the room. Returning it slightly, along with a quick thank you, she walked slowly into the room, taking notice of the people on the floor dancing to the music that was playing. ?Oh, geez, I hope nobody?ll drag me out there. I?m horrible at that type of stuff.? ?You and me both,? said a voice from behind her.

ZOMG, non-monochrome comic! >

?Okay, so I?m in a new city,? Allisa mumbled to herself as she sat on the window ledge of the room she had awoken in, staring down into the new cit y that lay before her. ?An ocean away from where I laid down when I went to sleep last. And while I was asleep, a war happened and a race of ?hybrids? tried to go and take over the world or somethin?.? She rose and began pacing around the room, looking down at the letter where she had gotten her information, but not really rereading it. More like looking at it just to look. ?And now there?s something called the ?Second Faction? that I?m currently being ?protected? from. In a country that was rebuilt from another country because the country was destroyed in said war, far away from my family and my friends who might not even be alive.? Allisa scoffed at herself. ??Might?? Who am I kiddin? with some ?might?? They dead as all hell and I know it.? A wave of depression suddenly came over her and she sat down hard on the plush bed. Right on top of a particularly uncomfortable pile of cover, but at this moment, Allisa didn?t really care. ?This is some craziness. What the hell is goin??? A knock on the door interrupted her mid-sentence. Confusion, remorse and reason quickly gave way to panic as she looked around for a place to hide. For all she knew, it was someone ready to take her away to some unknown place for some unknown reason. Of course, someone who wanted to do that really wouldn?t knock on the door, but, as has been already been confirmed, when panic arrives on the scene, reason is usually among the first ones to go. Just as Allisa made to try and scramble under the bed, the door opened, revealing a kindly-looking old woman. At least, she probably would have looked kind if she hadn?t looked slightly confused after having come in to see a woman trying to pull herself under a bed from on top of it. A woman who?s not good at tumbling, at that. ?Not to be rude, miss,? the older woman began, ?but what exactly are you doing?? Allisa quickly pulled her head out from under the bedding, her already messy hair flying and fuzzing forward and landing right in her eyes. She quickly tried to straighten herself up and look presentable and stepped off the bed, partly rigid from apprehension. The other part was from embarrassment. ?Um, I saw a...a? a mouse! Yeah, a mouse!? she exclaimed, pointing the bed. ?And it ran up under there! And I was trying to see? if it was still there?so I could kill it. And stuff.? The woman fixed her with a slightly confused look before coming closer and beginning to take a look under the bed herself. ?In all my time here, I?ve not once seen a mouse, but?? ?Oh, it?s not there now. It?s gone. I guess it?ran away or something. I don?t know.? Turning and looking at Allisa again, the woman straightened and cleared her throat. ?Well, as I?ve said, I?ve never once seen a mouse in this house, but I?ll look into it later. Now then, I presume you?ve read the letter?? ?Letter? What let?Oh! You mean that letter saying that I?m in Paris2 and all that other stuff? Yeah, I read that. And I had some questions, too?? ?I?m sure you do. You?ll have those answered at the ball this evening.? ?Ball? What ball?? ?The ball that?s being held by the Supreme Chancellor. Now, you?re to be there at 8 p.m?? ?Hold up, so you can?t tell me anything?? ?I?m afraid not.? ?Well, that?s kinda stupid.? The woman?s look of patience was quickly beginning to fade. She cleared her throat slightly and folded her hands firmly in front of her. ?As I was saying, you are to be at the ball at 8 p.m. There are clothes provided for you in the wardrobe.? ?Wardrobe? ?It?s not gonna start talking, is it? Or take me to a forest in some other country?? ??I don?t believe so,? the woman said, raising her eyebrow a second time att Allisa. ?Are you feeling all right, miss??? ?Never mind. It was supposed to be a joke?? Looking to the large oak wardrobe that the woman was indicating, and thinking how her attempts at humour were even more wasted in this place, Allisa went over and opened the doors, revealing a very nice-looking?. ?That?s a dress.? ?Yes. It is.? ?Um, Miss Lady?? ?My name is Anne.? ?Miss Anne. Um, don?t get me wrong. I really appreciate this and everything. It?s real pretty. But, uh, I don?t usually wear dresses.? ?Well, I?m afraid that?s the only thing we have for you.? ??You?re serious. I?m really gonna have to wear this thing.? ?Yes.? With a sigh, Allisa took out the off-white number. She had to look at the bright side. It was pretty. A fairly simple design, but still elegant-looking somehow. ?And the only way I?m going to get my questions answered is to go to this ball thing?? ?That?s correct.? ??Fine. I?ll be there at eight like you said.? ?Very good. Touch the white panel next to the door when you?re ready.? With that, the older woman took her leave. Allisa stared at the dress and began walking across the room with it, setting it on a chair when she looked out the window again to the spectacular view of the city. ?Paris2, huh? Well? I always told Ma that I wanted to travel. She?d trip if she ever heard about somethin? like this, though??

Manga What happens when i try to draw manga...
Kei replied to mangamaniack21's topic in Otaku Central
Well... I'm not really sure what this thread is supposed to be about. Are you asking for tips on creation or something of that sort? To be honest, all I'm seeing is rambling. ^^; For that reason, I'm going to close this. But, if you do need help, feel free to create another thread, but do try to be a bit more specific. ^^; -
Seems like I have a thing for covering decent-sized archives in a short amount of time. Don't get me started on what I went through with Dominic Deegan... Anyway, these are beyond awesome, Gavin. There hasn't been one that I haven't liked so far. "Laugh Out Loud" sits tops on my list for the moment, though, me being such an AIM fiend, haha. But I do thank you for giving me something to decorate my cubicle with at the office. Yays.

Since Sara was kind enough to guide you in the right direction, there's not really much reason to keep this open, is there? That being said, thread closed

1) Double-posting is against the rules, as has been told to you before by Ozy. Please don't do it again. 2) Art by Request is the place you go when asking for graphics work. Take your request there. 3) It might help if you put a little more thought into things. From what I can tell, you've only given people the barebones of your idea and barely that. Depth is a good thing when doing RPGs. Keep that in mind.

This may be of interest to you all who are looking to get your manga published upon completion. Lulu Publishing is a company that allows people to publish their own works for relatively low prices. I came across it while visiting a webcomic that I often read. I glanced at it and they offer two types of printing formats for graphic novels/manga: Traditional manga style and a slighter larger format that I've not seen before. Both of these styles can then be bound in two different ways: Perfect Bind (the type you see on real manga) and saddle-stitch, which is the folded-in-half-and-stapled type of binding. Both, as I said before, are reasonably priced at about $5 USD for binding and anywhere from 5-30 cents for added extras like colour inserts. What I think is most appealing is that you really don't have to pay anything until your book starts selling, from what I gathered of the explanation. You can distribute it via the website until you feel that its ready to go to print in book format. And unlike most publishers, when you do decide to print it, they don't give you thousands of copies and make you pay a whole lot; they start you out with a bulk of 26 and let you go from there. All in all, it doesn't seem like a bad deal, especially for people who want to get thier stuff out there on a limited budget (like most of the people who post here in MW). What do you all think of it?

I certainly understand where you're coming from, heh. There are still people who will be going into 3rd Year with me next year that have trouble pronouncing things even with furigana. But anyway, you're correct in saying that the majority has some issues with foriegn pronounciation. I just misinterpreted what you said, thinking it was a bit unfair to say that everyone has trouble with it. ^^; Forgive me.

So the players have been chosen... I'm really getting excited about this. I already have a few ideas about things. ^^ It should be really interesting to see what happens once things get going. And I agree with Boss about pulling a Legionnaires. Having it broken down into sectors might help, depending on what you're planning.
