If you wish to recruit a writer, you may feel free to use the Artist Recruiting Thread sticky at the top of the forum, as it was recently modified to allow such requests. Thread Closed.

Hm. From what I can see, this is actually pretty good. One thing that I would suggest is that it might give the reader a better feel of what Reikimaru is going through if you actually showed the look on his face as he's having his wings torn out. Facial expressions and the ilk add a lot of...believibility, for lack of better term, to a manga. It would also look better after proper inking, methinks (but it is very good artwork). Just a thought. That aside, looks spot on and rather interesting to me.

Seeing as this is more about art than manga itself, I'm gonna shuffle this on over to the Art Studio. ^^ *does so*

It's not a stupid question at all. ^^ Well, I know there are a few colleges in Japan that specialize in making manga (Rumiko Takahashi attended one, under the instruction of the creator of Lone Wolf & Cub). However, here in America (where I'm bodly assuming you claim residence), the basics of art classes would help a lot in getting the basics down, mainly body comp and the ilk. Intro to Studio Art and Drawing classes would be your best bet, really.

Welcome to OB, Zoros_GrlFriend. Here at OB, we don't really allow thread to be made simply for the sake of requesting links to illegal downloads. ^^; Instead, I will say that the manga can be purchased relatively cheaply at most bookstores, since it's under the Shounen Jump Advanced line, which usually sells for the same price as other SJ manga, that being around $8. That being said, thread closed.

Yes, when discussing pivotal plot elements, using spoiler tags is definitely recommended. Remember, not everyone may have read as far as you have. I'll be fixing it so that anyone else hwo comes across this won't be able to see it. Also, A568793, please take a look at our rules and guidelines for members (a quick link to which can be found in the handy-dandy left-hand navigation bar). In it, you'll find that we encourage our members to use proper English grammar and spelling, not internet shorthand. ^^

Rumiko Takahashi's manga are usually available wherever you can find manga to be sold. That includes places like Border's, Barnes & Noble and B. Dalton, just to name a few. You can also try buying Takahashi-sensei's books online at the Viz Store or at any other place where you can find manga for sale that's been licensed by Viz and they're all moderately priced, as well.

Well, I'm definitely more in tune wih my creative art side more than anything else. I'm always drawing something whever I am; in my room doing homework, in class (when I should be taking notes), even on the long bus rides between college and home. I'm always thinking of something that would look good if I sat down and drew it out. Of course, that doesn't mean it comes out exactly how I want it to, but it still makes me happy to put one of my various thoughts on paper. I guess it's the same way on the rare occasions that I write something, too. It's lovely to read over something that you wrote; a world that you created that's not like anyone else's. Something about it makes you so proud most times that you can't really express it in words. Corny way to try and explain it, I know, but it's true. :p

I don't quite agree with you, Ayokano. Imitation can actually be very beneficial in helping develop your own style. While you may be jsut tracing at first, you can make modifications here and there, learning what does and does work. Also, tracing can help you learn body structure and perspective, in some ways. I would suggest trying to pick up How to Draw Manga: Bodies & Anatomy to try and get you started on your own, though.

Since this forum mainly only talks about the anime, it may be best to pose your question in the Mahou Sensei Negima! thread in the Anime Lounge. Just a tip.

Yes, you read the title right. Konami and the West Virginian school system have forged a partnership for the next three years to intergrate DDR into all WV school physical education classes. The program is supposed to start being intergrated into all middle scools within the next few months. Apparently, the childhood obesity problems are far worse there than in other parts of the country, so they're trying this out to give kids a chance to be active in a "fun and exciting" way at school. (The article can be read here, by the way.) I'm thinking that this could potentially be a good idea, seeing as it does have the possibility of getting kids to look forward to going to gym class. The way I see it, any type of program that can make kids want to get active can't be all that bad. What do you all think about it?

While I'm sure that everyone has their own feelings about the situation, it's done and over with. Alex and Mitch have been banned and Tony decided he didn't want to post here any longer for whatever reason, so let it lie. The only thing talking about it here will do is start a big hoopla between those for and against their banning, which is the last thing we need. Both Alex and Mitch have said that it's no skin off their backs, so dropping it would be the best thing.

The OtakuBoards Nifty Fifty of 2005 (Nominations Thread)
Kei replied to Shy's topic in General Discussion
OtakuBoards: Enter the Net- The original uber parody that started them all, for the most part, heh. Not only is EtN a well-written account of the changes, fads, catchphrases and lovely people on OtakuBoards, it's just fun to read and leaves you begging for more. Shame it's to end soon. A damn shame. Desy-B and Dag-chan- The names I shall forever know them as, lol. These two are two of the hardest working people on this forum since James and Shy. They do a lot more than what people think they do (and that's saying something). They deserve all the credit and praise they can get. Mimminx- Mimminx is one of the (if not the most so) nicest person I've ever met. She's kind and lovable, and even though she may have a tendency to pilch a few pairs of pants, she's always willing ot make amends over a nice game of Literati (even though she may beat the person by accident, lol). My fellow Mods- They all work hard doing what they do, and I appreciate them for that. James & Adam- The original heterosexual lifemates. XD But, in all seriousness, without James and Adam, OB wouldn't be what it is today. Hell, OB would even exist. So kudos to them to providing the place where so many of us have come together to form our little community. -
Generally, we don't like to bring back threads more than two months old here on OB, especially when there's one that's far more active available to post in, as in the case here. That being said, I'm going to go ahead and lock this on up. ^^ Thread Closed

While I know that you have every good intention and are apparently aware of the rules, I don't know about this. I understand what you're trying to do, and it's actually a really good idea, but if I bend the rules here, it doesn't set a good example. However, I will say that posts have a 10,000 character limit, and the only exception we make for the double-posting rule is if someone goes over that limit, but is still trying to make a point or writing a literary work (which is why chapter-based stories in Anthology are treated slightly leniently.) Try and work with that.

I'll put this in spoilers since this is a ToS "secret" boss:
Abyssion is tops on my list, since not only does he have HP out the wazoo, he knows all your techniques, he takes them and throws them back at you. And they hurt when he does that, you know, with him being the uber-evil bad guy of darkness and such. I recently took him on in Mania mode, and let me tell you, fighting him with 240,000 HP (as apposed to the normal 120K) and without an All-Divide provided 15 minutes of FUN [/sarcasm]

For right now, I would suggest trying to find the font "DigitalStrip"; a lot of webcomics use that font and it's very easy to read and nice to look at. As far as specch bubble packs go, they aren't hard to find through search engines like Google. Just type in "free downloads- speech bubble packs" and you should be directed to some nice results. As far as the comic itself goes, it's not all that bad, as I've seen worse and better. Outlining things can help things pop a little more, as can proper screentoning, which is far easier on the computer than on actual paper. To find some free screentones, you can head over to devART or search using Google or whatever search engine you prefer.

The large problem I have with these types of threads is that they degenerate into nothing but people posting lists and not having anything resembling a cnoversation outside of "These are the ones I like!" That being said, if people don't start giving more detailed responses, I'm going to have to shut this thread down. Fair warning.

I hate the fact that I confused my post regarding the first half with a post regarding the second... --; Anyway, that was a great way to end the chapter, lol. I personally loved n00b's song to n00bie, even though it did start getting more than a bit creepy at the end. Though I suppose most of that is attributed to the fact that I could read it just fine without having |_337-to-English dictionary. >.>; Anyway, lovely chapter. Can't wait for the next and all other sorts of praise you're probably tired of, heh.

Let's not go into all that type of stuff here. True, we can't ignore that these things happened, but focusing on them here will only turn into an arguing match that no one should have to deal with on an online message board of all places. Anyway, the only thing that I can tell you would be to ignore them and do what you can. If you learn at a slower pace than the other girls, you just learn at a slower pace than the other girls. It's not that big of a refelction on you, except that you take a bit longer to learn certain things than others.

1) *blush* 2) In the words of Gavin: Interesting, most interesting. I'm loving all the possibilities of what can happen at the prom, but at the same time, I'm wondering about the little n00b ambling about. What is that little bugger up to?

A couple of things wrong here: 1) Discussions regarding anime should be held in Anime Lounge. Manga Workshop is for the discussion of manga titles. 2) Both the starting post of this thread and the only response are very spammish, as they don't start a converstion or add anything that could lead to the start of one. I kindly ask that you both read our rules regarding posting, thanks. Thread Closed

darklore, please read our rules in regards to posting habits. We kindly ask that people try to use proper grammar and punctuation here at OB so that everyone can have an easy time understanding one another. Also, posting three copies of the same thread violates our rules, so keep that in mind in the future as well, thanks. ^^

Manga I LOVE CLAMP! ANYONE AGREE? (you know you do!)
Kei replied to punk alchemist's topic in Otaku Central
Welcome to OtakuBoards, punk alchemist and celoctopus. Just for future reference, we ask that members try to use proper grammar and punctuation when responding to messages left by others for the sake of everyone being able to understand each other completely. Thanks in advance for keeping this in mind. ^^ In terms of CLAMP themselves, I've liked every CLAMP work that I've read, though I don't think I've nearly read them all. Their art always seems to be so detailed and has so much time put into it, which I can appreciate, because I look at the little things. Most of their stories are rather interesting to follow, and though they might not have the ending fans enjoy sometimes, that can be said about any author, so it can be overlooked, in my opinion. Still, they're one of my more preferred artist groups. -
Speaking as a Mod, but not for the whole lot of us, I know that it seems like we're short-staffed. However, as has been said, the incidents of mass-spamming and such are kept to a minimum, even though we can't get on it as soon as it happens, since no one Mod can be online 24/7. It's up to James and the admins to determine whether or not we need more, so if they feel the same way you do, they'll add Mods when they see fit. ^^
