2. Welcome to OB, hikaru_kz. The unwritten rule of sorts with this thread is to not just posts lists and go into a bit of detail about why you're reading what you're reading. I'm not asking for an essay or anything, just a bit of detail. Thanks.
3. For the sake of not repeating the same information all over again, I'm going to go ahead and close this thread. I do ask that both of you watch your spelling and such in the future, however. Thread Closed

Manga help

From my knowledge of them, you apply the screentone to the image you want and cut out the parts that you want to stay on the image with a cutting tool for the screentones. As far as purchasing them goes, I know that some comic stores are now selling them in their manga and How-To-Draw Manga sections. I don't know how widespread the practice is, however.

Manga help

It all really depends on whether you want to be a traditional artist or move to totally digital design like some are doing. In traditional media, manga is typically drawn on A-4 paper (most amateur artists use computer paper, to my knowledge). A-4 manga paper can be bought from specialty art stores or online art stores (you'll have to search around though, as the one I was looking at previously has discontinued selling art supplies). As for inking and colouring, there are a variety of pens one can use. Some of the top brands include Tachikawa pens and Copic markers (which the group CLAMP, as well as others, often use for cover and special artwork). Completely black shading is usually done with inking pens. Screentones are what are used to shade manga. They come in a wide variety of designs and can also be bought in some art stores. As for digital media, one can more often than not do all their work in Photoshop or PSP, whichever program they're running. Inking can be done with the pen tool and there are places online that offer free screentone downloads. You can find many tutorials for this sort of thing at deviantART.com, so I would suggest heading there for some further reading/studying of techniques. Hope this helps you.
6. For future reference, KenshinRulz, this is no way to start a thread. While a full out essay as to why you believe *enter subject here* isn't required, we do ask members to put a little effort in opening posts, as well as replies. Try to keep this in mind in the future. I'll keep this open for now to see how it goes, but I'm watching, heh.
7. Ah, yes, I've read about that little side-quest in one of the guides I read for reasearch on GameFAQs. I've never done it myself, though I want to, since Kratos is my favorite character and all. I've not read the guidebook, so I don't really know if this is known, but there is a side-quest
once you reach Sybak after the fight wth Rodyle, methinks. If you talk to the boy standing beside the junkmonger (where you get Colette's Key Crest,) he'll give Sheena the Pink Pearl Ring. Once you go back to Meltokio, a girl will see Sheena with the ring and ask her where she got it from. Once she tells her, the girl will give the party 5,000 Gald to give to the boy, but if you take it back to him, he'll refuse it. Later in the game, you'll meet the two again in Meltokio and they'll ask for their ring back.
I'm currently trying to find all these little things for the guide I'm writing, so if I find any more, I'll be sure to say something here, heh.
8. Réne: Hn... Yondaime, maybe or a doujin version of Naruto like Dagger said in the other thread, but I'm leaning toward Yondaime, lol. He and Naruto would have a lot in common if Naruto were older. Wavemaster: Well, borders aren't really necessary for every little image. Personally, I think it gives it an overall nice flow with the swoosh thingy. But it all really comes down to personal preference, really. You always have the option of using the Geisha skin, which you can access via your Control Panel.
9. That header was made a long time before Advent Children came out; it's one of James' (the site director) original designs, if I'm not mistaken. It's supposed to look that way, heh.

11. Name: Kaos Allegiance: Predacon Beast Mode: Komodo Dragon Height: 6'5" Function: Predacon Supreme Commander Weapons: Primary Weapon: Energon Whip Secondary Weapon: Fang Cyber-Venom Darts Quote: "For the sake of a world in which we live the way we are meant to....I will not hesitate to crush anything in my way!" Profile: Kaos is a former Maximal. With the mindset of the Maximal Council being fools for trying to change the way of life that had been normal for so long, she became a Predacon soon after learning of Megatron's plans, which was long before he fled Cybertron. Working her way up the ranks through various means, she rose to the position of Commander only a few weeks before Megatron stole a ship and fled into deep space. Although she has only just become a Commander, her reputation preceeds her. While always seemingly calm on the surface, Kaos can be incredibly vicious toward enemies and allies alike if she thinks they are of no use to her. She does not tolerate failure and will not hesitate to dispose of anyone she doesn't think is working toward her goals along with her. When she crashlanded on planet Gaia, only a few of her subordinates landed beside her, leaving two on their own. Quickly trying to gain her wits and find a form that wouldn't give a sense of too much suspicion in the jungle area, she scanned a creature that had begun investigating her unconscious body, a Komodo dragon, and adopted it as her Beast Form. Abilities: Kaos makes up for her lack of power with tactical cunning and skill with an Energon whip mainly comprised of her beast-mode tail while in robot-mode. She also has a small blaster in her arm capable of firing small darts made of fangs containing a paralyzing cyber-venom, though it's effects are only temporary, lasting a few hours at best. Weaknesses: While Kaos is a cunning tactician, she's also a bit vain and refrains from taking part in a battle unless she really needs to. Also, due to her relatively small stature and armor that's a bit lighter than normal, she can be quite easily knocked about if taken by surprise.
12. I, personally, think it's a bit strong to say that the Dragon Ball series was trash. It fit the genre it was supposed to: a shounen fighting anime/manga. True, it's gotten way more than enough credit for what it is, but as was said, it was/is loved by several million fans worldwide, even if it is guys screaming and beating each other to death for 25 minutes with a dash of plot added for good measure. Anyway, getting back to the topic, there are several shows nowadays that are starting to get a bit overrated, Inu-Yasha being the main culprit. Don't get me wrong, I like the series to an extent, but there's only so long one can stand a plotline of: Good guys: We have jewel shards! Yaysness! Naraku: I will steal these now with an evil incarnation and/or bad guy troop! *does so and goes into hiding for 30 episodes* Good guys: Oh noes! :< We must find him and get them back! *chase* Repeat. Add in a few filler arcs, some random characters and there ya go. While one aspect of it's fame may be due to the fact that it's by Rumiko Takahashi (who I do have a lot of respect for,) there are some that just take it to a level that's...let's say "annoying." On the other side of the spectrum, I agree that Paranoia Agent isn't getting enough credit, as well as Haibane Renmei, Magical Shopping Arcade: Abenobashi and a few others. I'm not saying that they're the be all and end all of good anime; there are some aspects of them I don't like. But that's not to say that they should be overlooked, as they're just as good as the well-known stuff, if not better.
13. I've always been fond of Halloween as well. It's just a time wen you can really let your imagination loose and dress however you want and no one can say a thing. It's great that way. The candy's not a bad thing, either, lol. I always used to go out on Beggar's Night with some kids from around my neighborhood. We used to go up and down a few streets around our neighborhood and we a;ways picked up some nice swag. I remember one year an older woman gave out two Toblerones to everyone that came to her house. That was an awesome year, heh. I plan on trying to dress up again this year for Halloween on campus, but I still haven't decided what I want to be yet. If I can find the things I want, I'll probably go as a cat like I've always wanted, but if not, I'll just go as a broke college student. It seems to be a popular thing, though...
14. The problem is that there isn't any way that it can be fully implemented. Cops can't patrol every section of town every minute of every evening. Many teens will find areas where they won't be able to be spotted. Even if there are those that are caught and put into juvenile detention, that rarely stops them from doing the same thing over again. Call me pessimistic, but it seems like a big waste of time and taxpayer money to implement something like that. *shrugs*
15. As an unwritten rule, we try to not bring back threads that are more than two months old. Since this was made back in March, it obviously surpassed the threshhold by quite a margin. That being said... Thread Closed.

The Boondocks

"I don't mean ******* in a disrespectful way..." -VIBE Magazine advert For those of you who watch [adult swim], The Boondocks will be premiering this coming Sunday at 11:00. Here's the description from the [as] site:
"Based on Aaron McGruder's award-winning and politically charged comic strip of the same name, The Boondocks will premiere in October 2005, on Adult Swim, Cartoon Network's late-night block of animation for adults. Regina King (Miss Congeniality 2, Ray) and John Witherspoon (Friday After Next) are among the actors who have signed on to voice characters on the highly anticipated animated television comedy. King will do double-duty as the voices of brothers "Huey Freeman" and "Riley Freeman"--the two characters central to the strip and series--while Witherspoon will be voicing "Granddad," the boys' cantankerous grandfather. In The Boondocks, when Robert "Granddad" Freeman becomes legal guardian of his rambunctious grandkids, he moves from the south side of Chicago to the quiet and safety of "The Boondocks" (in this case, suburban Woodcrest), hoping that he can ignore them altogether and enjoy the fourth quarter of his life in peace. But Huey, a 10-year-old left wing revolutionary, is determined not to enjoy the affluence of suburbia. This attitude is seconded by his 8-year-old brother, Riley, a proud product of contemporary rap culture who lives only to spread chaos and mayhem. Although they torture each other and provoke the neighborhood, they are no match for Granddad, who is eccentric even by "crazy-***-old-black-man standards."
I'm thinking that this is going to be a hit, mainly because the comic strip already has such a large following and there's so much material they can work with. Also, from what I've seen and heard of the artwork and the voice talent, it'll be appealing to the eyes and ears, not to mention the sense of humour. What do you guys think of it?
17. At least he didn't put lemon in everything like Raine did... --; Anyway, having played the game through seven times, I can quite safely say that I love the voice actors (even though they do have some familiar faces amoung them, such as Crispin Freeman, Scott Menville and Tara Strong.) I didn't think they were grating at all. They all seemed to fit their characters really well. As for the comment about the animation... I honestly don't see what you mean. The anime cut scenes were beautiful in my opinion. True, it was a bit sad to see the
CG-rendered Tower of Salvation in more than a few of them,
but on the whole, they were beatuifully done. And cooking is so great, lol. Not only can you save money on Gels by buying ingredients instead, they're way more effective, anyway (at least, if you collect all of them.) They're invaluable when you
get into the Colisseum battles later to get everyone's weapons.
18. A few things wrong with this... 1) All artwork-specific drawings need to go in the Art & Design forum. The Manga Workshop is for discussing ideas and existing manga. The only time people post pictures is if others ask them to show what style they're going for. 2) These pictures are way oversized. For courtesy purposes, you should make them smaller. Also, with this many of them, it would be better to put them up as attachments, not put them in the post body itself. 3) Double (and triple-posting, in this case) is not allowed on OtakuBoards, as is stated in our rules. You can find them here. Thread Closed

OB Survey

A) Which aspect of OtakuBoards do you find to be the most negative/confusing? I've never really found anything annoying or wrong with OB, other than the fact that I seem to be the only one on the entire board unable to put up a public event. >.>; B) What is your favorite aspect of OtakuBoards? To echo what a lot of people have said, I love the members here. While there are those that take things farther than necessay, the population as a whole are a very nice lot to talk to. Those snazzy banner designs aren't anything to sneeze at, either. lol
20. I have no idea what type of Peach Girl you were looking at (it might be the sequal to the series "Peach Girl: Change of Heart,") but there isn't any nudity in the first Peach Girl series. There is a bit of an adult situation in the 6th and 7th books, but it's only implied, not shown. I haven't been able to read the last few books in the series, however.

Pok

"Hi, Jonah! How's my favorite British hottie doing today?" "I'm all right." Kei pretended not to hear the smile in his voice. "Did you happen to catch the latest news on your side of the world?" "About the Pokémon nappings? Yeah. It's bad news." "Glad we're on the same wavelength, then." Kei flopped down on her bed, brushing aside various odds and ends she was planning on packing for her trip to America. "We're going to have to be on high guard this season. Seeing that all these events are connected, some new organization must have popped up recently." "You would think after seeing all those other teams collapse in the past that people would just stop trying this sort of thing out." "Yeah, but there are those whose greed knows no bounds. But, like I said, we're going to have to warn all the trainers to be on their guard this season. There's no telling what can happen. The main thing that I'm worried about though is that I haven't heard anything from HQ about stuff like this happening. We usually don't have to get our news from the networks." "Yes, this is a bit odd. You plan on looking into it?" "Of course." "Well, all right. If you find out anything important, be sure to let the rest of us know." Kei smiled broadly, which surprisingly made her look very cat-like. "You know I will. I can't let cute guys like you go walking around without being well-informed." "Guys aren't 'cute.' They're handsome." "Well, I think you're cute and I'm your superior. So deal with it." Kei was sure that she heard some sort of mumble on the other end, but didn't pester him about. She always managed to ruffle Jonah's feathers one way or the other and she always got pleasure out of it, but she figured she'd give it a rest, given the current situation. "You're headed to the States, aren't you? For the PokéShowdown?" "Yeah, I am. Why?" "They just said that the last napping was near there, so I'm thinking that there's a strong possibility that they might strike there next." "Hm, I see your point. I'll keep a lookout while I'm there. I'll talk to you again soon." "All right. See you." Kei turned off the phone and threw it over her head, not totally watching where it was going. Hence why she was surprised to hear her lamp break as it fell to the floor from being struck by the phone. Moaning audibly, she began trudging off to the kitchen to fetch her broom.
23. Perhaps I can elaborate a tad bit better. Peach Girl follows the ongoing drama of Momo, a high school girl who has the unfortunate fate of having skin that tans easily. As such, she has very dark skin, making her look like the average beach bunny and people often mistake her for a cheap floozy. She has a crush on a classmate named Toji, who also likes her, but due to the fact that she once heard him say that he doesn't like tanned girls, she can't approach him. Anyway, through a series of events, they finally manage to hook up, but Momo's "friend" Sae ends up trying to take Toji away from her (basically because she wants everything Momo has.) The school player, "Wiley" Kiley, also enters the fray pretty soon, and the story goes from there. So basically, it's a high school teen drama, but the plot is interesting and the art is nice, so I would recommend it.
24. For me, I try to draw hands in mitten form first in the general shape I want it to be in the finished product. From there, I use my own hand as a reference and draw the fingers and nails from there.
25. Okay, while an interesting subject, there's a few things wrong with this post: 1) Your spelling and grammar leave much to be desired. There isn't one punctuation mark in that entire thing and several things are spelled wrong. 2) While you did read the manga to reach this conclusion, this isn't a thread about the manga. It's just about what "furi kuri" means. Manga Workshop is for discussing manga-in-progress and existing manga. Please try to remember that in the future. All that having been said, thread closed. ^^
