1. ...It seems as if you're asking where you can find a good grapics program, though I'm not exactly all that sure. ^^; It's very easy to find some trial versions of the better ones on the internet by visiting Adobe's website, but they usually only last for a month. If you're only just learning, that's the way to go. I say that because the actual programs can cost anywhere from $50 USD and up, so if you don't know how to use it, the trial gives you something to get used to before you actually buy it. Also, learning how to use the program properly to get all the different effects that you see in good art/fanart can take a lot of practice. It's not something that people usually fall into. You may or may not be good at it your first time around, but eventually, you'll be able to create some nice stuff. Hope this helps you out a bit.
2.
In the future, you should try and make your posts longer ^^;;;
I agree. If you want to start a thread about a manga, try putting a bit more thought and detail into in the future, thanks. Anyway, I love the Jing series. I've collected most of the first series of manga and I caught the first volume of the anime when ADV was having their 50-75% off sale, so I was pretty lucky. Jing interests me so much because of its crazy art style and interesting characters. I mean, it's not often that you see a talking albatross in the "hopeless lech" role, heh. Jing also has so many mysterious qualities about it,
namely, Jing's mother and Postino,
so it's just so easy for me to fall in love with it. I'm hoping that I can get the rest of the first series mangas soon and start Twilight Tales. ^^ I'm sure it's good.
3. If you ever have this problem again, don't be afraid to ask a Moderator to move a thread for you. We don't bite. ^_~ *moves to proper forum*
4. I will say this one time, and one time only. Save signature club promotions for your signature. Any and all posts regarding the subject will be deleted. ^_~ As far as your question goes... I've collected all the YYH mangas to date, and as far as I can tell, the series stays mostly true to the manga in terms of character personalities and such. There are, of course, a few stories that didn't make it to the animated series, but for the most part, it stays along the same lines that the anime does. SJ does get a little annoying with the side commentary,
(namely the Sailor Moon reference in the Battle at Hell Housing Development chapter)
but that's to be expected.
5. I've come to also enjoy CLAMP manga quite a bit over the years, though I've only been a ble to read a select few of their works. CLAMP School Detectives ranks pretty high on the list, if only because I love the leader of their little agency (even if I can't remember his name off-hand. Nozomu, was it?) BUt my main favorite so far has to be Magic Knight Rayearth. It has such a wonderful story and great characters. And the world they created for it...wonderful. ^^ I do love Tsubasa: Resevoir Chronicle, but I haven't had the chance to pick up any of the newest volumes (I only have the first two.) It's interesting how they've mixed all their characters from past works into one story, so I'm looking forward to see where they take it. All in all, I can say that CLAMP are pretty much top-ranking manga-ka on my list with their ability to create such fabulous artwork and storylines. I'm really excited to see what they do in the future.
6. For future reference, any thread that is usually started with only a sentence to go on is usually closed soon afterwards. Please try to put a little more thought and effort into future threads, thanks. ^^
7. The very first manga that I ever read was the first volume of Ranma 1/2. A friend of mine had been ranting and raving about how funny it was, so I headed over to the library, and lo and behold, the first volume of it was in the graphic novel section. So I checked it out and fell in love with it. ^^ Of course, my tastes hae branched off a bit since then, but I'm still glad that's what I broke my gums on.
8. This is more an anime-related question, so I'll be moving this to Anime Lounge. ^^ If you have questions regarding the manga, please don't hestitate to start a discussion thread there.
9. As far as I can tell from a Google search I just did, GitS: SAC was based on the original Ghost in the Shell manga and not on a manga series of its own. I may be wrong, however. Also, you should try working on your posting quality a bit. Proper punctation and things are a plus around here. ^^ Thanks.
10.
First of all "Dielover" Fanfiction go's here anyway i like the story alot. well story making is hard so take your time ~Chaos_Overdose
You may want to let a Moderator take care of something like this in the future. ^_~ However, Chaos is right. This merely seems like a bit of a story, rather than a mange that you're working on. If you're wanting help, try asking for art help or something along those lines. Stories and other such things like that should be posted in OB Anthology.
11. Seeing as this thread will more than likely generate nothing more than posts full of lists, I'm going to have to close this down. If you want to talk about your favorite manga, there are threads already made that you can do so. Thread Closed.
12. As for me, I have to say that working under timed condtions are the worst for me. Seeing as though I don't really have the time to create a proper outline (as I'm quite prone to going off on random tangents) and the fact that it takes me a while to write things by hand (I don't feel right if I do something in really sloppy handwriting when I know it's ging in for a grade), I usually never get quite done, or it seems rushed since I was hurrying to write things down in the time limit. I'm also a clock-watcher, so that doesn't really help matters much, heh. But if I'm doing something for a contest, it's much easier for me. Although it's still under a form of time constraint, it's not nearly as tense as something as a test. My writing flows easier since it's possilble to think over my ideas several times over. *shrugs* That's just me, though. Heh.

Since asking for places to find scanlations of already licensed manga is about the same as asking where to find licensed anime, I'm afraid I'll have to close this thread. You're more than welcome to discuss what you've read so far in one of several threads already active in this forum, however. ^^ Thread Closed
14. You forgot to mention Ichi. He shows up in the first manga as well. ^^ I've read the entire series, and I have to say, it's very nice. I would more than likely recommend it to someone who's just starting to get into shounen-ai/yaoi manga, though,
as it sort of pokes the yaoi border quite firmly in the ending, but doesn't break through it. There are times during the third volume that you wonder, however.
^^; But, yeah. I would undoubtedly recommend this to someone trying to break their gums on shounen-ai manga. A really cute series with at least one memorable character. lol Depends on what your take on the whole thing is. But definately worth a read, regardless.
15. Just for future reference, there are much better ways to start a topic of this genre. You can use my post as an example. As far as my favorite manga goes, there are quite a bit that I enjoy/have enjoyed reading, such as: Naruto- Naruto's plot, character development and design (simple, yet cool) are basically what drew me to it. Well, that and having everyone around me talking about it relentlessly. After having seen a coupld of chapters of it published in the American Shonen Jump, I decided to get the first volume of the manga. A friend of mine introduced me to the anime, and I completely fell into it from there. The characters in the story are so interesting and it's great to see them develop as the series goes on. Naruto, Sakura, Kakashi, and even the minor characters like Chouji and Kiba just make you want to keep on reading the series just to see what happens to them. The comedy factor (who can't laugh at Ibuki and the Sexy Technique fiasco?), as well as the action, also helps add to the enjoyment factor, making Naruto a very balanced read. ^^ Rurouni Kenshin- This is one of the series I fell into because I love the anime series. I often have the habit of looking at the manga to see the original story (since most anime add and take a few stories away from the manga when it goes to animation), so I just wanted to see what it was like. I've fallen behind in the releases, only just now getting ahold of Vol. 7, but I plan on catching back up since they're seemingly pretty far in the Return to Kyoto arc. Ghost! (aka Eerie Queerie!)- A nice shounen-ai series that I came across one day. It's what really broke my gums on the genre, which I've really fallen for, heh. I'm currently trying to get ahold of some other series like Fake and Descendants of Darkness. Mitsuo and Hasunuma are very cute and develop sort of awkwardly at times, but it's still a nice series, if a bit short. Yuu Yuu Hakusho- Yet another series I fell into because I love the anime. A bit better than the anime in some respects, but I do love hearing John Bergmeier... Jing: King of Bandits- This manga is off the charts on the cool meter for me. From it's weird art style and characters to town-hopping plot, Jing just gets all around high marks in my book. And I just love how you learn so much more about Jing as it goes along. I don't have all of them and I haven't even broken into Twilight Tales yet, but I know they won't disappoint. ^^ Those are just a few of my top ones for the moment, heh. I'll more than likely add more when I have time. ^^
16. After having just sat and watched the entire series, I find that I like it quite a bit. Ninjai does give off that Samurai Jack air when you see him, which automatically gets him high marks in my book. Some of the other characters interest me as well, such as Sakuri (Takugawa's main henchman). The last episode has me interested behind
the origins of his weapon, heh.
My favorite character has to be Little Bird, though. He's so cute. ^^ Anyway, the difference between the first few cartoons and the latest ones in terms of animation flow and character design is a bit striking. It really does seem like its something that you would see on television, though in my opinion, it would be better if they did hand drawn backgrounds entirely like they did some of the scenes in Chapter...6, I think it was. But, like I said, a very nice little web series. Thanks for sharing, DW.
17. I would like to mention that proper grammar and punctuation are something we look for in good posts. Please try to keep that in mind as you post. Thanks.
18. Welcome to OtakuBoards. ^^ You need to work on your post quality a little. Your entire post was one gigantic run-on, heh. Also, while it is possible to start a thread on one of two sentences, those sentences have to present a bit more detail than the ones you provided. Try to remember that in the future.
19. Welcome to OtakuBoards, PikaSurf. ^^ In the future, you may want to watch your grammar while you post. I understand that for some members, English may not be their first language, but in order for everyone to clearly understand and so that we don't have any qualms going about, I simply ask that you work on your quality a little. Thanks.
20.
FYI Animerica Extra finished publication as of Dec/04. Sad :animecry: for it was a favorite of mine. Had to continue stories via the Manga
Well, I suppose that shows how up to date I am with manga magazine publications in the US, heh. I actually have no idea about it, having not read the original Japanese versions of the manga that SJ features, but it does seem like they do keep in a lot of things that would normally be shredded to death by American censorship. As DeathBug said, plenty of all the things that keeps the FCC alive and well are floating around in there, but I suppose they can't take out too much, or it wouldn't make sense in some areas, heh.
21. I apologize for coming off more than a bit blunt and rude with my suggestion. That was wrong of me, heh. But anyway, what Dagger said is definately something that will help with not only dicussions in Manga Workshop, but all around the boards (with a little modification to the text where appropriate). Like Japan and Lore said, we are somewhat stricter than most other anime message boards out on the 'Net, but we do have some of the better discussions about anime-related things (not to mention the general discussion in O. Lounge) on the web. We just like to see that forever a part of OB is all. ^^
22.
Does anyone like reading with their cellphone?
Only if you count text messages. While the whole concept of having manga on cell phones is interesting, I agree with Azure that it may only shoot off in Japan, where cell phones are somewhat a large intregal part of everyday life. As was said, sure, a more than decent amount of people in the US carry cell phones on them, but I doubt that people would actualy prefer to read manga on them. As almost everyone has already pointed out, cell phone screens don't provide nearly enough pixels to even see the graphics clearly, which is what manga is all about (well, there's plot of course, but if the art isn't appealing, whose going to want to read it?). TokyoPop is taking an expensive risk with this, and I have a feeling it's going to come back and bite them--Kujo-style.
23. Yes, the American Shonen Jump does currently have Naruto as a main feature. However, I'm not exactly certain as to where they are in the series, as I've not had the chance to read one in quite some time. Shoujo Beat will more than likely be available in bookstores and on newsstands as it's boy-oriented counterpart is, but I think it may cost a dollar more per issue than SJ (Shonen Jump is currently selling for $4.95 USD and $29.95 USD for a one-year subscription). As far as popular manga magazines go, the ones in America are currently Shonen Jump and Animerica Extra, SJ mainly for Yu-Gi-Oh!: Duelist Kingdom and Naruto and AE for Fushigi Yuugi: The Mysterious Play. I haven't actually read an issue of Animerica Extra, but for a while, I kept up on Shonen Jump. I've lost touch with it recently though, just opting to buy the volumes of the series I prefer as they're released. Shonen Sunday, Kodansha, and a few others whose names escape me at the moment are still among the top favorites in Japan, featuring the most popular shounen and shoujo manga (respectively, mind) today. I haven't asked any of my Japanese friends here on campus or when I talk to them online what's the current rage over there (besides Bleach and Death Note, obviously), but I'll ask soon. ^^
24. Welcome to OB. ^^ Firstof all, I'd like to say that the way that you started off this topic was in no way acceptable. Working what you did in your second post would be more appropriate. Try to keep that in mind in the future. ^^
25. Welcome to OtakuBoards. I'm going to be shutting this thread down, as it goes against one of our rules. Downloading licensed manga is just as bad as downloading licensed anime, not to mention illegal, sad to say. So, that being the case, we don't allow members to make threads about where to find such things. As a side note, all your posts in previous threads asking where to find manga have been deleted, since they didn't contribute to the conversation at all. Thread Closed
