1. Welcome to OtakuBoards. ^^ Your thread is going to be closed due to the fact that it doesn't really have any substance to it (or spammy). Threads here are more for the discussion of a manga and other such things, but there's nothing stopping you from putting an information request in your signature. You can also try looking on a seach engine such as Google or Altavista. Thread Closed
2. Yes, it is true that the anime may differ in some aspects from the anime, but the manga is the original story the author wrote and/or drew. In most animes, you'll see a small text that may say "Based off the story by so-and-so," meaning that it's not entirely the original author's work and may include new stories and sub-stories involving the main characters of the manga. Also, while anime may add stories of their own, animation studios also leave out some parts of the manga they feel may be unimportant or not entertaining to the anime audience (Ranma 1/2, for instance). So, for that reason, it's better to actually do both, as you may get some entertaining stories from them, but if you want the original the way the author wanted it, it would be in your best interest to read the manga.
3. Right... 1) This topic was last active in August of last year. We'd prefer if members don't bring back threads over two months old, unless they have something really stellar to contribute. 2) Mangas are the basis of which animes are produced. The only things that aren't are the current "Ani-Mangas" that TokyoPop is currently producing, and those are hardly even worth the title. In fact, they're not. >.>; But everyone is entitled to their own opinion. If you feel manga are pointless, so be it. But please get your information correct if you want to criticize them.
4. Since the both of them were showing severe signs of fatigue, Kei and Mimmi decided on heading over the Kei's myOtaku home for a nice rest, seeing as hers was closer. The small gray home looked incredibly dull compared to the lively-colored homes that sat on either side of it, but Kei thought that the silver and gray-toned house had a nice charm about it. She'd always appreciated monotone pictures and the like far more than she did color ones most times, so if it looked odd, it'd just have to be that way. The inside didn't look nearly as good as the well-kept lawn did, but that was mainly due to the fact that all those types of things were handled by the Otakubots when they wandered about on their nightly patrols cleaning up bits of scraggly HTML. Papers, CD cases, Yu-Gi-Oh! cards and various other things were littered about the floor, making it hard not to step on a place that didn't rustle. Kei scratched he back of her head sheepishly while stepping over a rather large pile of unopened ramen packs, trying to clear a decent path for Mimmi, who was still clutching her latest pant trophy, to get through. "Well, I guess since I haven't been here in a while, I never did get the chance to clean up properly," she said as she began stooping to pick up random drawings she'd done, the ones that she decided were better going on a pile on what little empty space on her coffee table there was. "It's...all right," Mimmi replied, beginning to pick up things herself, lest she step on something her cat-like friend might have deemed important. "Here, I'll help." "Oh, you don't have to. I don't want to trouble you." The incredible yawn made Kei's last sentence barely even comprehendible, as she could tell by Mimmi's slightly confused look. "Sorry. Bad habit." "Well, perhaps we should just leave this for later. I'm surprised that yawn you let out didn't split your head in two." Rubbing her eyes, Kei motioned the pant thief to the back room. "I guess you're right. Here, it's this way." Being careful not to knock over any piles, Mimmi followed after, feeling like she was playing a part of Tomb Raider for some reason. Entering Kei's room made her wonder more about what her friend's true species was. Besides a few posters of Legolas and Jack Sparrow on one wall, all the others were dedicated to all things kitty. Hello Kitty, Pussyfoot, Sylvester. You name it, they were there. Besides those, there were balls of yarn and scratching posts of varying degrees of wear lying around, not to mention sqeaky toys in every shape that would strike a cat's fancy. What Mimmi noticed most, however, was an oversizedcat bed sitting in just the right position to catch most of the day's sunlight that came through the room's two windows, which Kei happened to be climbing into at the moment. "Your room is certainly...interesting," she said, swaetdropping slightly. "Yeah, I get that a lot. If you move those toys, the bed that actually was here when I first moved in is there. If you don't mind resting there, that is." "Not at all." Walking over and setting the items carefully on the floor, Mimmi climbed into the somewhat large bed and yawned loudly. "Night, Bossyness." "Night." After a bit of stretching and fidgeting, the kitty-Mod managed to shift into a rather peaceful slumber.
5. ... Right, this thread is going to be shut down, reason being is that in the past when such topics have appeared in the Anime Lounge, they've quickly spiraled into mindless spam, which this thread had been doing from the beginning. So far, everyone who posted in this thread has said just who they would like to be, not at all giving a reason why, which is the only main way to keep this topic afloat. Since no one has done this so far, and I have a strong incination that no one will, I'm nipping it in the bud now. Thread Closed
6. In the future, please try to keep all post in the thread mainly on topic. I had to delete a few of them in here for that reason, so please try to watch yourselves from now on.
7. Anyone within a ten clik radius of the Manga Workshop immediately looked in its general direction after hearing an unearthly screech of anger. Kei was about to go after the two Gundams with all the rage of...a raging person..., when she suddenly caught a familiar scent wafting from inside the building. Instantly, her rage died down and all the looks of a feline on the prowl came on her face. "There's only one thing on this island that smells like that," she said grinning and nearly bounded back inside. It only took her two minutes to find her target looking amongst the stack of new books that the library had acquired. Slinking along the bookstacks, she snuck up directly behind the girl, wiggling just enough to get into proper pouncing position before launching herself at the basket and stuffing one of the buns quickly into her mouth. Mimmi nearly shrieked from fright, but she remembered she was in a library, so she calmed herself. She couldn't help but giggle at the sight of her friend sitting on the table looking every bit the cat that caught the canary (or bun, rather), though. "Well, nice to see you like them, Bossyness," she said smiling. "Fank ooo, Himhinks," came the bun-muffled reply. Waiting until she'd gotten the current pastry down, Kei got down off the table and hugged Mimmi tightly, nearly squeezing all the breath out of her. "And how are you this morning, Mimminx?" "I'm all right," she said, rubbing her ribs slightly. "It's a very nice day today." "Indeed. I noticed when I woke up today...in my office." "You slept here again? Bossyness... When was the last time you slept at home?" "Um...three weeks ago...?" "Need I remind you that you told me about a dream you had where you were sleeping at home but you were really asleep in your office three weeks ago?" "Oh. Then...before that," Kei said scratching the back of her head sheepishly. Mimmi sighed, grabbed Kei by the arm and half-walked, half-dragged her out of the building, leaving the rest of the buns to be attacked by the rest of the members in the library. As they got outside, Mimmi stopped and stood stern in front of her eccentric friend. "We'll be taking a walk right now. And as soon as we're done, you will go home and have a nap." Kei only mangaed to get out a small "Eh!" before getting taken firmly by the hand and led down the street to nowhere in particular.
8. Lady Katana, otherwise known as Kei, mumbled incoherently as she roused from her slumber, raising her head off her desk in the Acquisitions Office of the MW Library and pulling off a receipt copy from her cheek. A quick check in in her computer monitor that faintly cast her reflection told her that she hadn?t caught on ink stains on her face like she did last time. She yawned audibly and went into her daily routine of cat-like stretching, minding not to lean back to far in her chair, lest she tip backward like she had done so many times in the past. Finding herself properly limber enough to get out of the chair, she did just that, making her way over to one of the windows in the room, looking down at the paper that she still held in her hand and smiling. She?d finally managed to get hold of one manga that had been eluding her grasp for so long, Naruto Vol.2, the previous night, much to her pleasure. So many members had been requesting the title, but every time she went to the various bookstore sites online, they were always sold out. Even her most trusted store, B. Dalton, didn?t have the comic in. But finally, after months of searching and waiting, Amazon had finally gotten a fresh batch, so Kei jumped on the chance. ?Well, that?s one item off my list,? she thought to herself. Glancing over at the stack of request PMs, she sighed and shrugged. ?Only a thousand more to go...? Returning to her view of the city, she looked over the wide expanse of Tokyo 3 and sighed. It hadn?t been that long since everyone had been sent to this virtual world, but she?d already grown accustomed to the new, anime-like surroundings and somewhat tolerant of the new people she found herself around often. She still, however, couldn?t shake the feeling of longing for the real world in some ways, but she knew she just had to make due with what she had. ?Hm... It?s a nice day out. Maybe I?ll go for a walk before I start working on these new requests. Maybe I can catch up with a few people while I?m out.? She returned to her desk briefly to file the receipt in its proper folder in the large drawer cabinet in her desk. Getting in one last stretch, she strode across the room and out the door, entering the main part of the Workshop. Shelves upon shelves of manga lined the walls, making oddly-colored patterns on them from all the different artwork they had on their spines. Members walked quietly among the stacks, eager to find the latest volume of their favorites, or already reading one they had picked up off the shelves. Kei smiled as she saw some of the younger members sprawled out on the floor with the latest Beyblade or Yu-Gi-Oh!: Duelist Kingdom, flipping the pages with wide-eyed enjoyment. It didn?t take her long before she reached the exit. Stepping outside, she had to stop short as a very large Strike Gundam passed by, apparently being chased by a Buster Gundam. ?Hey, you two! Be more considerate of the people down here!? Both stopped and looked down, sweatdropping to see the small, gothic looking girl scowling up at them, but did as she said, once they recognized her as a Moderator. ?Sorry, ma?am,? they said in unison, and tromped off to who knows where, leaving Kei with a dark shadow covering her face and a sweatdrop on the side of her head. ?Ma?am...?? was the only thing she said before everything went red.
9. Following after James... It wasn't long before Alice and and her guide began coming upon other fish. Brief pleasantries were had with each, quickly followed by a curious glance to the human girl the fish carried in his wake. Alice couldn't help but wonder how they seemed so much like humans themselves and told her companion as such. "It would be quite rude if we didn't. Honestly, you humans. Always thinking that you're the only creatures capable of acting decent with one another." "Do forgive me, kind fish. I didn't mean to offend," Alice said quietly, surprising herself by doing so. "I'm sure. Hang on tight, now, we're almost at our destination."
10. Welcome to OtakuBoards, Juice Boy. In the future, please try to add a bit more to your posts, especially when you're the one starting the thread. What is it about the manga you like? Don't be afraid to get a bit deeper into things. That's what discussion is all about. ^^
11. How To Draw Manga.com has a Tutorials section that's free for everyone to view. You can get a great view of the basics from that and develop your own style from there. Also, I thank you for cleaning up your posting a bit, but try not to only post one sentence replies. Posts like that (unless they actually provide something to the thread) are often deleted as spam.
12. Aheh. ^^; I am indeed a staff member here at OB, as my title indicates. Which is why I have to ask you not to go off-topic in threads like you just did. Such questions should really be kept to Private Messaging in the future. ^^;
13. Welcome to OtakuBoards. ^^ In the future, try to improve the quality of your posts. Proper grammar is just as important as spelling around here, heh. ^^; Anyway, there are a variety of sites that can help you learn the basics of drawing manga art, such as How To Draw Manga.com. If you do a search for drawing manga on a search engine such as Google, I'm sure you can find plenty more. ^^
14. I do believe I'll step in now... I'd like it a bit better if the participants in this thread would try to put a better foot forward in terms of the quality of their posts. Not to say that it's completely horrid, but proper grammar is just as important as proper spelling and common courtesy. Please try to keep that in mind in future posts.
15. Welcome to OtakuBoards. ^^ Well, I hate to tell you this, but there are a couple of things wrong with your post. 1) All fanart specific threads should be posted in the Art & Design forum. Manga Workshop is for discussing manga and manga ideas. 2) It would be better for you to actually post the artwork here by attaching it to your post, which you can do when you post a reply or a new topic: Try to remember this when you post in the future.

Spamboard!
Originally posted by Xander Harris There is no point just posting random garbage on the net.
That about sums up about any administrative reply to this that you might get. A spam board presents no real purpose on a message board. It's just there. At OB, we strive for quality discussions, so having a board like that here would be contradictory to what we're going for, wouldn't it? So, I can safely say that we'll never have a spam board here at OB. And if we ever do get one, the end of the world is nigh.
17. My sense of judgement is telling me to close this thread, and I'll tell you why. You're not really presenting anything that a basic idea to help you on, for one, which is what the forum is about. Two, you can easily put this in your signature as an advertisement of sorts, sine it looks like one, anyway. Three, this has the potential to become really spammy with "Sure, I'll help!"-type posts. Things with this sort of nature should be kept to PMs, really. So I think I'll listen to that judgement call. Thread closed.
18. ...Oo' Right... You may want to work a bit on your grammar. Not that it's horrendous or anything, but a little brush-up wouldn't hurt. Also, you need to flesh out this idea a bit more in order to get some proper feedback. Where the story is set, what type of personality thie "Koro" has, etc. Things that give us the feel you want your manga to have. We also don't know what "page" you're talking about, either. Do you mean a myOtaku page or something else? Just keep in mind: It's the little things that make it better. ^_~
19. After so many death threats from so many people... Who is it? James Why are they nifty? James is nifty for several reasons (most of which have already been stated). He manages to come here every day and do such a wonderful job with everything, and he's still one of the most courteous people I have ever had the pleasure of conversing with. He busts his butt pretty hard around here (which most of us appreciate) and if he doesn't get anything for it, people will be hurt. What is it? Adventure Arena Why is it nifty? Adventure Arena has come a long way this past year. Since the launch of Kill Adam, quailty (in general) in AA has shot through the roof, providing great chances to take RPing on OB to nice, new level, which I'm sure will only improve over time. All the new threads provide great reading too, giving me a way to wile away the hours when I'm supposed to be doing homework. What is it? OB Anthology Why is it nifty? OB Anthology, like it's Category mate, Adventure Arena, has become a source of quality threads, such as The Reanimatrix, 55 Fiction, and several others. A place with so many great writers and great moderation deserves some kind of honor. Who are they? Panda and Lore (aka Teh Sara) Why are they nifty? Panda and Lore are nifty because they mod Otaku Lounge. I could stop there (and everyone would understand why), but I shall go on. Being able to moderate a place where threads of poor quailty spring up numerously every day and actually not be overwhelmed is admireable. Added to that fact, they're both uber-cool people that are extremely nice and courteous, and I love them both dearly. *hugs them* Who are they? Dagger IX1 and Solo Tremaine Why are they nifty? They mod Anime Lounge. Enough said. But seriously. Both Dagger and Solo work their butts off keeping AL spam free, having to deal with the more stubborn members who register here, often times. AL is also probably the forum that gets the most traffic here, so being able to keep it the way they do is, for lack of better articulation, "o.o;". That's all I can think of at the moment.
20. Wall + King = walking That was easy, but it still took me a minute, lol. I suppose I'll try this one out and see if anyone gets it. I think it's sort of easy, in a way, though. In a world where 1 is 2, 5 is 5 and 8 is 7, what is 331x3 with no Heaven or Earth?
21. I think that this can be a good idea, given all the pros already stated by other people in this thread, but perhaps not on a board-wide basis. In places such as Art Studio, where such problems and such don't arise nearly as often as they do in, say Otaku Lounge, I don't think it would be necessary. So perhaps implementing it in the more spam heavy forums would be better.

Help Me!

Okay, all this one sentence posting that's vaguely on topic has got to stop. Everyone who has posted in this thread is guilty of it, and Knight, this is your second warning. If the participants in this thread don't start putting a decent amount of effort into their posting, this thread will be closed and some people will begin to be watched in regards to their posting habits. Please don't let me have to repeat myself again.
23. Well, since Otaku Lounge serves as a catch-all for all the other threads that don't have a specific forum to which they fit, weird news and things of that nature would more than likely go there.
24. If 4Kids Entertainment does end up getting the rights to Naruto, I'm sure it would end up on the Toonami block, or even Miguzi if they edit it enough. The 'Guz usually ends up with 4Kids shows and an exclusive (see: Totally Spies), while Toonami tends to get FUNimation and another exclusive (see: Megas XLR). Both got Teen Titans as well, but that's shown pretty often on CN period, as well as on KidsWB every Saturday. Adult Swim tends to go for anime dubbed by ADV, Sunrise, Gainax and Viz, so it would more than likely show up there if one of them gets hold of it. They'd be crazy not to, seeing as Naruto already has a large fanbase here in the States and it hasn't even come over here yet (officially). Inu-Yasha being kept and Detective Conan being discontinued was pretty much expected for obvious reasons (I know there are some Conan fans out there, but in all honesty, it's an "eh" series), but I'm glad that they're showing Metropolis and Cowboy Bebop: Knockin' on Heaven's Door (or The Cowboy Bebop movie, whatever you want to call it). Those should definately boost ratings whenever they decided to show them, but I hate to think how the CB movie might be edited for showing on AS (though I've only seen the Japanese version, so bleh.). Seeing as how Full Metal Alchemist is most definately on the rise in popularity here in the States, I don't doubt that they'll eventually get the rights to the movie as well. Like I said with Naruto before, they'd be crazy not to. But yeah, all in all, I'm pretty happy to hear this. ^^
25. Welcome to OtakuBoards. This thread is going to be closed due to the fact that we don't allow members to create threads for the sole purpose of advertising of any sort. Things of that nature are to be kept strictly to signatures. Please try to remember that in the future. Thread Closed
