1. That storyline definately has some potential. Upon glancing at it, is does appear to have a lot of originality, especially with the 206 demons to seal (the traditional number is 108, lol). If you're able to work out the plotline and character details, I'd be happy to try and help you out with character desgins or whatever. You might even be able to enter into the next "Rising Starts of Manga" contest next time it rolls arond, lol.

Manga

Well, first off, welcome to OB. ^^ I know you're a new member, but do try to put more thoughts into your posts in the future. In order for us to help you, we need to see what level you're currently working at. Otherwise, how can we tell you how to improve? So, in that sense, post some of your work, and we can go from there. ^^
3. Thing is, with manga style, they tend to be carried over into the animé style, as the original artist usually helps with character designs, BG work, etc. Posting your work would help a lot, as it would let us see what exactly you're trying to do, and show us what you feel is out of whack.
4. Heya. ^^ I was wondering if anyone could be kind enough to make me a banner that has different pages from mangas (i.e. Inu-Yasha, Fushigi Yuugi, Rave Master, etc.) and the words, "Can't beat the original..." in the lower right hand corner. The avatar can be any manga at all, and it's at your leisure what size you want to make both. I'd really appreciate it. Thanks in advance. ^^
5.
Please look properly in this forum. There's already a Ayashi no Ceres and Fushigi Yuugi[/b']. Please put your comments there. I'm not trying to act like a mod but it's true that there's already a thread by the same name lalready exsist.
I'm quite sure you do mean well, but do let Moderators handle things like this in the future. (I do appreciate you trying to help, though. Honestly. ^^) This thread started out as spam, and has stayed that way. If you're going to talk about a manga, try making it a meaningful discussion. Put more thought into what you type. I'm closing this thread, but if someone wants to make another attempt at a reasonable discussion thread, feel free to go ahead with it.
6. I'll say this before anything else. Sephy's Girl, you really need to put a little more effort into your posts. I'm glad you can use punctuation, but try throwing some capitols in there too. ^_~ It seems everything in your plotline is taken from another series (i.e. the teleportation from Escaflowne, and as Nikorasu said, the separated siblings from various manga/animés) If there was any way you could find something a bit fresher, that would help out a lot. With character designs... You really have to feel your character and put a lot of thought into them. Create a detailed bio and put yourself in their shoes. What would you want them to look like? How would they dress? Wear their hair? Do they make those trademark faces when they change emotions? There's a lot that goes into this sort of thing. I suggest thinking the entire thing through before trying to do anything else. Including getting a title, lol.
7. Whew, there's a lot of different animés I want to own. I'll list a few to save on server space, lol. Ranma 1/2: The Entire Collection Ranma 1/2 is one of the funniest animés I've ever been able to watch. The animation may not be everything, but the characters more than make up for it. lol Outlaw Star Ever since I saw the series on Toonami (and again on Adult Swim v1), I've wanted to own it. Mostly due to the fact that the characters have such odd personalities (in my opinion) and the music is really nice. .hack//SIGN Simply a must-have for anyone, in my opinion. Pretty original story line, great artwork and animation, wonderful characters and decent VAs. Makes it an all-around great animé. Now and Then, Here and There One of my favorite animés that I've seen relatively recently. Though some may say it's just an anti-war message in deep disguise, I think it's a great series that doesn't get the attention it deserves. Magic Knight Rayearth I've just finished reading Magic Knight Rayearth and I'm about to start MRKII, and I'm totally in love with it. Though I do tend to like the mangas better, I just want to see if they messed up the story at all, lol. For sake of time, I'll just list the rest and edit later. Tenchi seires Card Captor Sakura Here Is Greenwood Mobile Fighter G Gundam Mobile Suit Gundam Wing Vision of Escaflowne Arjuna Saber Marionette J Jubei-chan Arc the Lad Dragon Half
8. Well, I can say that the ideas are somewhat intriguing. While the first is a bit cliché in some ways (i.e. a race of people in dire peril and needing some divine force to save them), the way you present yours may prove to be interesting. The android script seems even better, mostly because of the futuristic setting. With a little tweaking in some places (i.e. more meaningful dialouge), that could really be something. To me, however, art influences whether a strip flies or falls. That's why I've been working hard to tweak the characters I'm creating for a Pokémon comic. The dialouge is a little more mature (as it deals with older kids), but if your characters have absolutely no appeal, I doubt anyone will read it, lol. I'd put a lot of effort into searching for an artist if I were you. Just some friendly advice. ^^

Pok

Well, personally haven't played Ruby and Sapphire yet, if Fire Red and Leaf Green are simply going to be Crystal-esque (in the manner that it will simply be an upgrade version as Crystal was to Gold & Silver), I really wouldn't give it a try. I mean, if worse comes to worse, the only thing someone has to do to get all the Pokémon is simply trade or get a GameShark. Admittedly, Pokémon has become quite repetitive over the years, and the gameplay has worn extremely thin. The only saving grace it really has now is Colosseum that's dropping on March 24th, and that's somewhat farfetched in a way. Like Boba said, Pokémon may very well be in its final stage of stardom...
10. The way I saw the animé was through my local library system. They had all four volumes of the DVD in thier catalog, so I simply checked them out (once they became available, lol). I also got the first volume of the manga from there. If your library carries DVDs or orders graphic novels (the latter is almost surefire), you can check to see if they have them in.
11. In my definition, "fan service" is pretty much appealing shots of the girls of the story (i.e. bust shots, panty shots, girls in bikinis, etc. which RBHS does have a lot of). Overall, I just watched Real Bout for Shizuma and all the predicaments he got himself into with that attitude and that mouth of his, lol. It was essentially a story about
the crush Ryoko had on Takamura-senpai (I don't even remember if that's his name, lol) and how she dealt with the fact he was in love with his childhood friend.
All the things inbetween are pretty much filler, including
the whole Schwartzkaiser thing.
The only thing really appealing about the series is some of the attack art and such, and the Special End Corner on the DVD. Though Magical Waitress Oyster Lulu was pretty funny.
12. Chibodee: You think I'll sit by and just let you hit me? With that, Chibodee began activating Gundam Maxter's Boxer Mode. Its shoulder armor began to separate from the main body and reintegrate itself with the Gundam's hands. This surprised Kei, since the right shoulder was hit pretty hard by her last attack. Her worry disappated when she saw sparks eminate from the right hand immediately afterward. Kei: So how do you plan on fighting me in that condition? I've seen you fight. You're a right-handed boxer. You can't attack me like that. Almost immediately, a screen came up in Kei's cockpit. The angry face of Aidian glared back at Kei as she smiled sheepishly. Kei: Aidian, me old mate! And here I didn't thin- Aidian: Stow it, Kei! You know good and well you should have talked to me before issuing a challenge. Especially to somebody like him! Kei: What do you mean? Look. I already got the guy on the ropes. His right hands almost gone, and that's the source of most of his attacks! I did do that much research. Aidian: Well, if you would have dug deeper, you'd know how Chibodee's not only Neo America's prize fighter, but a member of the Shuffle Alliance. Kei: "Shuffle Alliance?" You mean that group that went up against that monster Gundam four years ago?! Aidian: One in the same. Chibodee: Ha! That's right. Like I said, you're totally out of your leauge, little girl. Now let me show you the power of the Queen of Spades! With those words, Gundam Maxter's heat output began to increase rapidly. Kei watched her screens in awe as all sorts of warning screens appeared in front of her from her sensory scanners. Kei: What is all this?! Chibodee: You talked about how your Gundam has hidden powers....Well, so does mine! The outward armor of Gundam Maxter started to glow golden and its energy began to flux to dangerously high levels. Chibodee took on a left-handed stance and prepared to start his attack. Chibodee: This hand of mine is burning red! Its loud roar tells me to grasp victory! Burning Punch! Both Chibodee and Gundam Maxter surged forward and a launched one of Chibodee's signature moves, the Burning Punch. A fist-shaped ball of energy flew straight at Gundam Beowulf, who was still charging for its next Howler Cannon attack. The attack engulfed the entire Gundam as it hit, and the resulting shockwave nearly knocked everyone in the stands out of their seats. At the opponent's crew watchtower, Aidian desprately tried to hail Kei, but with no response. Aidian: Kei! Answer me, Kei! Come in! Are you hurt?! KEI!
13. I took French both Freshman and Sophmore year. At first, I had a major problem with pronuncation and the like, but that eventually disappeared. I'm glad that I can hold a (very limited, lol) conversation, but I'm angry at myself for not taking it these past two years. Oh well. We all do something we regret one time or another. :p
14. Well, what NTHT is about, in my mind, is the horrors of war. I mean, it shows what it can do to people, and having children as part of it (sometimes as the main aggressors) makes it stand out even more. You'll have to forgive me for not being able to explain it to my liking, but it's a bit hard for me right now, lol. Dagger, from the ending credits, it says Mr. Freeman played Allen Gabriel in Season 2.
15. I agree that the art style does seem to resemble Miyazaki's in some aspects. The background art is amazing, especially in some of the desert scenes and the areas where Hamdo tries to talk to Lala-ru. As for the actors... Seeing as though NTHT boasts some of the main talent for Pokémon and Yu-Gi-Oh! (i.e. Dan Green as Nabuca, Rachel Lillis as Boo and Sis, Ed Paul as Shu), it really does leave much to be desired. The only saving grace, in my opinion, is Tabool (voiced by Crispin Freeman of Hellsing and Big O fame). Dana Halstead did a pretty good job as Abelia as well. However, I still prefer the Japanese VAs much better. The plot was great in that it had so many twists to it. Some things were to be expected, but it was shocking (at least to me) to see who did what, especially around the 11th episode. What really gets me excited is the music of the series. It just seems to fit so well. The ending theme really suits the overall view of the series as well. Like I said before, NTHT is a great series that doesn't get the attention is deserves. I really think people should try to look for it if they can. It's definately worth it.
16. I was wondering if anyone has ever seen this entire series. I believe it's a great animé that no one ever talks about. The characters are fairly well developed, and though the plot is a bit cliché at some points, it's still an interesting animé. For those that have never heard of the series, here's an overview of the first episode: The story starts in modern-day Japan, following a boy named Shuzo Matsutani (or Shu, for short). Shu practices kendo, though he's not entirely good at stratagizing. Anyway, after a match one day (which he lost) he wanders over to the smokestacks he used to climb when he was younger only to find a girl sitting atop one with a broken ladder. Wondering who she could be and how she got up there, Shu climbs another smokestack to try to talk to her. After hailing her many times without response, Shu just starts telling her about his town and all the funny things that have happened to him. Eventually, he finally gets the girl to do something when he asks her what she's up there for. She simply points to the sunset. After talking a bit more about what's so great about a sunset, he also gets her to tell him her name, it being Lala-ru. Just when he's about to ask more things about her, time suddenly stops and odd-looking machines come and try to take Lala-ru away. She asks Shu to help her, and he eagerly complies. After a one-sided struggle, the scout group, led by a woman that goes by "Lady Abelia" gives the order to leave, and all of them disappear in a flash of light. Shu is mistakenly taken with them. They're all transported to the inside of what appears to be a ship of some sort, and in all the confusion, Shu grabs Lala-ru and makes a break for it. It isn't long before they're separated again when Shu falls down a garbage shute. After almost falling through the end to the ground below, Shu finally sees that he's no longer on the Earth he knows, as all he sees is a gigantic desert. What it's mainly about is a war over Lala-ru, who happens to be some sort of water sprite, for lack of better description. A lot of startling revelations and other goodies in this one, and I think it should get a lot more credit than it's currently receiving. Any other thoughts?
17. With speed rivaling the infamous Gundam Speigel of last year's tournament, Gundam Beowulf lunged at Chibodee in Gundam Maxter with its Gundarium teeth glinting in the midday sun. Chibodee barely managed to dodge in time, letting Kei fly by to his right. He smiled nervously as he tried to get a lock on Kei. Chibodee: Maybe I should be a bit worried after all! Kei: Damn right, you should. And you haven't even seen Gundam Beowulf's true powers! Chibodee: ..."True powers?" Kei simply answered with another lunge towards Chibodee's right arm. She knew that he was a right-handed fighter, so going for his right arm could take out some of his more damaging attacks. But Chibodee was ready for her, and met her head-on with a quick jab to the torso. Kei's Gundam was sent back a short way before being able to regain its composure. Kei: Well, you're not so bad yourself, Mr. Cowboy! But now, it's time to get serious! Chibodee: What?! Gundam Beowulf rose to its feet and locked into position. It opened its mouth, exposing a large beam cannon and began taking in evergy to launch an attack. Chibodee: Wh- What is this?! Kei: One of my Gundam's most devestating attacks, the Howler Cannon! Try dodging this! Kei hit the trigger and immediately, a large energy beam shot from the cannon. The air shimmered with heat as the beam closed in on Gundam Maxter, aimed directly at his right arm. Chibodee managed to get his arm out of the way, only to put his shoulder in its place. As the Howler Cannon attack hit, Chibodee felt the searing pain tear through his shoulder with the power of his Mobile Trace Suit, and nearly buckled from it. Kei: You're brave taking such a hit with your shoulder like that. But I wonder if you can take another....with you head.
18. I agree that this was a great chapter. As usual, the imagery was off the charts and the dialouge was witty and...well, just plain funny. The only problem I have is that evilness that is the cliffhanger... Great work, Solo. *awards you a super-gold sticker* By the way, Heezay, l33t is "leet" typed in L33tspeak, what some call an "elite hacker language." Everyone else calls it annoying as hell.

When you post something in reply to something like this, you have to give more than just "I like Team Rocket because they're funny." Go a little in-depth with it. I understand it may be hard for younger members, but still. I know this has only been one person that's done this. That's why this thread hasn't been/won't be closed right now. There have been more than enough intelligent replies to it already. But I will say this once more, and only once. If I see any more posts like this, this thread will be shut down. It's been great so far, and one of the best conversations in this forum for a while (in most aspects). Let's try to keep it that way.
20. As Kei stared on at Chibodee, she couldn't help but break into a smile. Chibodee: What's so funny? Kei: Oh, nothing. Just wondering how somebody that'd wear that outfit in public could be a Gundam Fighter. Chibodee seethed under his breath at her comment. For someone so young, she had a big mouth on her. Chibodee: Well, I wonder when the Fight Commitee started allowing babies to pilot Gundams. The smile quickly faded from Kei's face and appeared on Chibodee's. Not that someone of his calibur should feel glad he outwitted a teenager in a game of retorts... Kei: If that's the way you want to play things, I challenge you to a Gundam Fight. Then we'll see who's the baby. Chibodee: I accept your challenge, Little Kei. That way, I can show you what a grown-up can do! Kei: Hmph. Well, there's still a problem... Chibodee: Oh? Forgot your bottle at home? Kei: No, you wannabe cowboy! ....I still don't know where the stadium is... As Chibodee fell over in shock, Bunny, Kath, Janet and Shirley just shook their heads in shame.... *** An hour later, Chibodee stood in the middle of the ring at Lincoln Stadium amidst the cheering crowd. Chibodee: It's amazing how fast word of mouth travels here. Just look at all these people! But where's the little girl... Just then, what looked like a mechanized wolf bounded over the western side of the stadium and landed gracefully in the ring in front of Chibodee. He felt more than a little jealous when the crowd started cheering at Kei's graceful entrance. He also spotted a young man running to the opponent's crew control tower. He looked more than a little ruffled. Chibodee just shrugged him off and focused back on the odd Gundam in front of him. Chibodee: And what is that supposed to be?! Kei: It's Neo England's pride and joy, Gundam Beowulf! Now you'll see what this "baby" can do! Ready to lose? Chibodee: We'll see! Gundam Fight! Ready?! Kei: GO!!
21. Stalker: Well, now everyone. The 14th Gundam Fight has finally commenced after much anticipation, and what a Fight it will be! Gundams from several colony nations have started traveling down to the Earth to begin working towards that all important title Gundam of Gundams. Young pilots have their hopes set on this goal, and Ms. Kei Barton is no exception. She has just arrived Neo America's capitol, and is eager to search for her first opponent. This time, it happens to be none other than Chibodee Crockett, one of the members of the New Shuffle Alliance! Let's get things started! Gundam Fight all set? Ready! Go! ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Kei: So this is Washington, D.C., eh? Not much for all the Yanks bang on about it. Just London without all the fog... Kei had finally arrived in Washington, D.C. after a none-too-short flight from London. Although she had more than her fair share of jetlag, and Aidian had warned her not to, Kei insisted on taking a walk to get her bearings. She really wanted to try to find the Lincoln Stadium, where all Neo America's Gundam Fights were to be held. She might be able to get an edge if she knows exactly what she was working with... Kei: This bloody city is huge! I can't believe anyone can find thier way around this place. I'll never find the stadium at this rate.... Maybe if I ask one of the locals. As Kei continued walking on, she spotted a group of well-enough looking girls coming out of a café. She walked up to them and politely caught their attention. Kei: 'Scuse me, ladies. You see, I so happen to be looking for Lincoln Stadium. You wouldn't mind givin' a poor little English girl some directions, would you? Kath: Not at all. All the fans want to know where that place is. Kei: Oh, I'm not a fan at all. I'm a Gundam Fighter. From Neo England. Janet: You? A Gundam Fighter?! Kei: Yeah, me. What'smatter with that? Janet: Well, you certainly don't look like a Gundam Fighter... Kei: And what exactly is a Gundam Fighter supposed to look like, may I ask? Bunny: Older. Haha! Kei: Don't feed me that. That Gundam Fighter from Neo China...whatshisname...Sai Saichi! He was only 16 at the last Gundam Fight. Shirley: But he had skill. You look like you don't have a clue. Hahaha! Kei: I suggest you take that back... Just then, a tall, lean man stepped out of the café. With his purple-pink hair and white country duster, he cut quite the charater. Chibodee: I don't think it's very smart to insult a Gundam Fighter's crew. Kei: Oh, really? So this little gaggle is a Gundam Fighter crew? Looks like a shoddy lot to me... Chibodee: Hm. That's pretty big talk coming from a little girl like you. What's your name? Kei: I'm Kei Barton, the Gundam Fighter for Neo England. And you would be...? Chibodee: Chibodee Crockett. Gundam Fighter for Neo America. Nice to meet ya, Little Kei. Kei: You can't be serious.....
22. Bwee. Everyone's sign-ups are A-okay. I'll be editing this post tomorrow with the last little things (i.e. the non-played characters) and the thread will more than likely start tomorrow. You can visit GundamOfficial.com for their specs. For those Gundams that appeared on the show, but say "Unknown pilot," you may create a new pilot, but the Gundam must remain the same. Due to the fact I haven't had time to write out the first post because of piles of homework, this will most assuredly start Monday. Thanks for your patience.
23.
Originally posted by Shinmaru Honestly, I think school is a lot easier than it really could be - unfortunately, at least in my experience, there are some teachers who just "go through the motions" and teach you only the bare essentials, instead of challenging you and providing you with the full breadth of their experience.
That's true. There's children in the Middle East who still don't get to go to school, one reason even being because they happen to be girls. Children in Africa have to have uniforms before they're ever able to attend school. To be able to attend a public school for free except for the occasional class dues or whatever, is pretty much a blessing. Like Shin said, there are people that would give everything they have to get an education like you can get in the places it's provided. If they ever consider moving out of their country, think of the hell of a time they'll have not knowing how to do basic math and other things. About that comment Alastor made... Who cares about learning to read or write? How about the kids who are sitting in the 7th and 8th grade not being able to read a Dr. Seuss book? I've seen it. Some kids here who are so problematic and disruptive (some by no fault of their own) are just passed on without getting the skills they need because of that, and they suffer when they get on in the later grades. Plus, try thinking about how you'd get a job without knowing how to read. You'd have a hell of a time trying to fill out an application, wouldn't you? I suggest that if you're going to knock education, you should consider the consequences of not having one first.

problem !

This should actually have been asked in the Suggestions & Feedback forum, but I'll help you out. Adam & Co. go through newly submitted fan art everyday. If your pictures haven't shown up yet, it either hasn't been checked yet, or your picture didn't meet one of the requirements. (i.e. It wasn't a JPG file, or it was too large.)
25. Everybody, it?s the moment you?ve been waiting for! After four long years, the time has come once again to begin the Gundam Fight. Gundams from the Colony nations will be sent down to Earth to fight amongst themselves to work towards claiming the title Gundam of Gundams! But the Gundam Fight shall be different from all previous Gundam Fights. Now that the Earth has slowly but surely started returning to its former grandeur under the careful eye of Neo Japan, Gundam Fights will now take place in specialized arenas in each country to limit damage. Obviously, this won?t take away from the thrill of the Fight. The real question is who will emerge the victor and claim the title Gundam of Gundams in this 14th Gundam Fight? Will it be the reigning Champion Domon Kasshu of Neo Japan? Or will someone else rise from the flames of battle to win it all? There?s only one way to find out! ---------------- Stalker: Well now, everyone. The 14th Gundam Fight has finally arrived! There?s sure to be a lot going on this year, thought nothing could possibly compare to the 13th Gundam Fight and the events shortly thereafter. It was truly a dark day, but its bright ending has given way to the shining beginning of the new Gundam Fight! As stated before, new rules are in effect for this year?s Gundam Fight to ensure the utmost safety of the Earth, its people and all the Gundam Fighters. Here are the new rules: 1) All Gundam Fights will be held in specialized arenas in the capitol of each participating nation. All Fights held elsewhere are strictly prohibited and all Fighters involved are subject to severe punishment. 2) Gundam Fighters may be substituted once during the Gundam Fight. Crew members and the government of the requesting nation must provide adequate reasoning for such actions. 3) Any Gundam Fighters found intentionally trying to maim or kill another Gundam Fighter outside battle will be immediately disqualified and will be barred from participating in the next Gundam Fight. The normal Gundam Fight International Regulations still apply in this year?s Gundam Fight as well: Article 1: A unit whose head section has been destroyed is disqualified. Article 2: A Gundam Fighter must never aim at the cockpit of an opponent's Gundam.
