The first time I ever read a manga was back in 2000. I believe it was the 4th installment of Dragonball from Viz. I had never been a huge comic fan, just reading the occasional X-Men now and again from the library. It never really appealed to me. The main reason I probably read manga now was because I got into animé. A friend of mine told me how the animé usually has some contrasts from the original manga version, so I decided to go looking for some. Lo and behold, I found that Dragonball. Ever since then, I don't read it just to see the original story, though. I mostly read them to see the original art. I've noticed that some aspects in the character design are present when mangas are transfered to animation, and since I've been getting into art a lot recently, it's cool to see how they change. (Take a look at the Yu-Gi-Oh! manga and the animé to see what I'm talking about, lol. Jonouichi looked totally different in the beginning.)
Originally posted by DragonGirl yeah people living in japan are lucky:extra violent anime, more technology....Why are cartoons better in Japan?
I would suggest putting more thought and meaning into your posts in the future. Comments like this pretty much border on spam. The reason why cartoons seem better in Japan is due largely to the fact that censorship over there is not nearly as strict in other countries, namely, the US. Since they allow just about anything (with the exception of the obvious) it would look like cartoons are better in Japan to people. In Japan, however, I heard some children prefer Western cartoons better. (By the way, kudos, DeathBug. Truly a great response. ^^)

It may depend on your webhost. Sometimes, your background won't show up, sometimes it will. They're iffy at times. Go to Edit Profile and type the appropriate HTML code in your Introduction. The HTML code is as follows: < body background="your image url here" width= -- height= -- > It should work if you use that. Make sure to remove the spaces beside the open and close tags.

Like most, I prefer the OB of today rather than that of the past. As Piro said, a lot of the spam stuff has been majorly cut down due to major contributions from the staff. He spoke truly when he said most of the stuff that's considered spam now wasn't back then. I think of OB as a moderate-large message board, but it's nice to see that we still maintain a sort of..."closeness," for lack of better term. Like James said, we're not an enormous hub with no personality. We all have our ways of showing individuality and uniqueness (though it may get us in trouble sometimes.)

I'm strongly assuming that you're talking about the TCG, since you mentioned EX Dragon. It's not technically impossible to catch them all. You just have to have substantial financial resources, lol. All you really have to do is shop around. You can find cheap deals everywhere. I know some local card shops have stopped dealing with Pokémon cards, but you can still go to the tournaments and other places for trading and such. Although it does seem like Wizards comes out with a new expansion every three months (and they probably do, Oo; ), if you're really gung-ho about the game, you'll find a way to catch 'em all. ^_~

Name: Alexandria Stril Age: 21 Gender: Female Appearance: Alexandria stands at about 5'10" and cuts a slender figure. Her long brown hair is usually left hanging, but is pulled back in combat. She has deep blue eyes, and usually wears a black tank with black capris and a white duster. She also wears deep brow ladies' boots and a silver bracelet on her left arm. Team: Soul Flyers Team Team Rank: Leader Zoid: Raynos Zoid Appearance: See attachment Zoid Weapons: Two 40mm AMD Machineguns (Tail mounted), Three 30mm Beam Cannons (Forward Facing), Alloy Wing Claws and Talons Personality: Alexandria is a complicated person in terms of personality. At most times, she tends to be a very sweet person and is willing to help anyone out. But once someone makes her angry (usually someone trying to pick her up) she does a complete 180 and becomes a total banshee. She's also tends to be vioent when she goes into one of these little fits, not at all helped by the training she does everyday. Biography: Alexandria had always been fasinated with the sky ever since she was little. She was often found looking out her bedroom window at the sky at all the birds and dreamed of flying just like them. Fortunately enough, as Alexandria grew up, she also took an interest in Zoids. As she learned all about aerial Zoids from an old pilot she met, she became infatuated with the Raynos. Though it was labeled a stunt flier by most, she still wanted to be able to pilot one. Her friend saw her interest, and one day, as a surprise, gave her an old Raynos he had. It needed a lot of work, but together, they got it done. Alexandria quickly became one of the best Raynos pilots in the world, training every day. She learned how to use both the weapons system and the Raynos' amazing speed and manuverability to it's maximum and started to make a name for herself in little one-on-one battles. Eventually, she decided that her skills were good enough so that she could perhaps start a team. Finding a few other Zoid pilots as adamant about flying as her, the Soul Flyers team was born.

Valen is mostly correct. The reason Musashi and Kojiro (I've been waiting for an excuse to use their Japanese names, lol) chase after Pikachu is due to the second episode of the first season. This was their very first appearance in the series and also the very first time Pikachu shocked them halfway to death, sent them past the horizon, and all that nice stuff. Due to the power Pikachu displayed at a very young level (Mind, when Pikachu and Ash arrived at Pewter Gym, Ash told Brock he'd been training Pikachu for about two weeks, and Brock replied it was at its cutest stage and therefore, pretty weak. This was even prior to that.), and even though Pikachu got help from the power-supply Pikachu, it was still pretty amazing for it to do everything it did. (Imagine if they would have seen the Spearow fiasco.) Since it displayed that much power even prior to being evolved to a Raichu, it would be a great prize to give to Giovanni (I feel bad for not knowing his Japanese name....). Their persistance is also apparently tied to Giovanni, especially since all their screw-ups ate into the Team Rocket bank account, and they need Pikachu to make up for everything, though I doubt Giovanni will consider it more than just your average cute-but-worthless Pokémon like he did Togepi. About them not dying... Mainly, it's because it's a kid show. Kid shows all over the world defy the laws of nature in some way, shape, or form. (Most animés in general do it, anyway. Oo; ) They won't die because they can't. It'd ruin the whole atmosphere of the show. You notice, as many times as Ash & Co. has been shocked by Pikachu, roasted by various Fire Pokémon, whipped by Grass Pokémon, etc., they've always had some form of injury, but never died. True, it's due in large part that they're the main characters, but then again, it's also tied to the atmosphere of the show. It's just not part of Pokémon. The main example I can provide is the scene in Pokémon: Mewtwo Strikes Back when Ash was hit by both Mewtwo and Mew's Psychic attacks. He was turned to stone, and could be considered dead. But through the "Magic of the Tears of Pokémon," he was restored back to normal, then again proving people can't die, but if they do, something will happen to bring them back. And though that huge battle reared some ugly injuries, no Pokémon died in combat. Yet more proof of the theory. In the terms of Pokémon Yellow: Special Pikachu Edition, the Pikachu that follows you around can't be evolved unless you trade it to someone else, then trade it back, unless you use some sort of GameShark code. Trust me, I've tried.

Like I told you over AIM, I think the first one is really cute. The effect you used on the background image is cool. Looks all...old asphalt-y. The next one doesn't really sit well with me, but only because of the text. It stands out a little too much. Perhaps if you fade it a bit, it might look better, but that's just my take. This one's my favorite by far. I really like the background and the only thing that rattles me is the way Guilomon just...sort of sits there. If you use the same effect as you did with the background, it'd look great. ^^

Art My Gift to OB: How the James Stole Christmas (animation)
Kei replied to Dragon Warrior's topic in Creative Works
Ah, yes. Yet another masterpiece from the genious creator of Daily Comic. As usual, it was great. Especially: "AH! MIDGET!!" Classic. A big thumbs up, Gavvers. (Though James having a striking resemblance to Samurai Jack was disturbing...lol) Edit: I forgot about the Snowman cameo when I first posted, lol. You should have had those slap-happy squirrels and birds around him, too. A nice touch, that would have added. -
More than likely, her appearance will be similar to her sprite in Crystal. (Very fashionable, by the way. ^^) Ash's voice actress is currently Veronica Taylor, and I seriously doubt that'll be changing in the near future. She was kind of weird when she first started doing Ash, like she was trying to hard to sound boyish. It was weird. Oo;

In that case, it's pretty much okay to use. Only in the scenario I used as an example would a problem arise, to the best of my knowledge.

Due to the recent rules change regarding the Poetry, Fan Fiction and Literature forum, course language is no longer censored, and is therefore allowed, but with care. It would be against the rules to just put it in for the heck of it (i.e. every other word being profane) but if it's used tastefully in writing, it's pretty much okay. The use of graphic content is pretty much the same. You may want to put a content warning in the title of your post and at the beginning of your post to play it safe, however.

The fact of the matter is, as long as there's e-mail, there'll be junk e-mail. Any list you sign up for is a possibility for you to be added to someone's spam list for any given reason. Even though there's supposed to be an anti-spam law about to be passed here in the States, I doubt it'll have any more effect than the "Do-Not-Call" list. --; It's just something we have to deal with. The main thing you should do is if it's from an address you know you'd never get mail from (i.e. ), delete it outright. Anything else, you may have to check. You can then add it to your Block List, or whatever. Or, like me, I just put a full-force spam guard on my Hotmail. I haven't seen spam for the good part of a year now.
-
That's the thing about Pokémon. No matter how many seasons the charcters go through, they'll never age at all, unless they show how they act once they live out their dreams and settle down, per se. It's just to show the kids that watch the show that even the little guys can overcome great obstacles. Yet another "moral in disguise," if you will.
-
It's just one of those unexplained mysteries of Pokémon. They never say exactly where all the money Ash & Co. use comes from. But I do gather it may come from Delia or else he may have a bank account which he can access in certain cities. *shrugs* It's just a wild guess, really...

Gah! Evil cliffhanger ending... That was a very nice chapter, Solo. The history you gave for Aidian was highly interesting, as was the history of the war. It all tied in very well together and such. For some odd reason, though, Aidian's story reminds me of the "Birth of Mewtwo" short. Oo; Anyways, like I said, great chapter. Can't wait for the next. ^^

They released Arbok and Weezing? Oo; They will be missed.... And by the way, James' Victreebel ran off with another one a while back. It was before the Silver Conference, I think. I agree with the fact that the plot has been very much recycled and is now tiring. The characters are getting somewhat bland, and are in desperate need of new faces. Something like an anit-hero as the main character would be nice. He/she would start off not caring about Pokémon or anything, then eventually meet up with people and Pokémon that change their perspective, or something to that extent. As for the games, I'm also waiting for an MMORPG or something else like that. The gameplay, again, has been recycled beyond recognition, and Nintendo and GameFreak are really starting to push player limits patience-wise. True, it takes a while to set up something like PSO-like with Pokémon, but come on. --; As for the movies, I'm supposing that the reason they do that is because they have to show that all Pokémon have their "weak-spots" or "limitations." I haven't seen Pokémon 4ever yet, but for a Celebi to be beaten by a Scyther and a Houndoom...that kinda goes out there. I hate to think what happened with Latios and Latias. Oo;
