[color=royalblue]I've only read the first volume of MB, because that's the only one my library has at the moment, but what I've read, I like. It's pretty funny, but it has it's serious parts too. I'll probably end up ordering the rest from TokyoPop here soon.[/color]

[color=royalblue]You can do what Nerdsy said, or I suggest going to the Trainer House in Viridian City. You can use the Exp. Share level up method with you Cyndaquil there. Not trying to harp, but you should try to build your Pokémon's levels as you go along, so you won't have the problem you do now.[/color]

She closed her eyes, which she believed in her mind to help her think better, and pondered over her present predicament. She sat there for a time, and finally decided to go with her plan. That was one of the few parts of her past life she remembered. She really didn't want to for obvious reasons, but life's like that. Take what you're given and like it. You don't, suffer. But perhaps she wouldn't have to. Many portals had opened over the past four years, and one might be near.[/i] [b]Rayne:[/b] I hope there is one. Having to go back there would.... *sigh* Best not think about it. [i]She trudged on, walking absent-mindedly, not really paying attention to her surroundings. The marsh grew denser. Darker. Glowing red eyes peered from the bushes, watching the one that would come to their nesting place so boldly. One as bold as she followed in sinister silence, tailing what it thought to be easy prey. She knew it followed her, of course, but she paid no heed. She wouldn't unless it decided to pounce.[/i] [b]Rayne:[/b] [size=1]Let it come.....His funeral....[/size] [i]She continued her walk, the monster, whatever it may be, still following, when she saw a slight glow to her left in the dense overgrowth of vegetation. She unsheathed her sword and cut through it with ease. She was rewarded by the sight of a portal. A slight smile came to her face, but it quickly retreated. The area around it was pretty clear, so she sat down on the outer fringes and decided to take a quick rest. Whatever had followed her hadn't come through the bushes, so she was at ease.[/i] [b]Rayne:[/b] I'll just sit here for a spell, and then I'll start up again. [i]As she sat, the humidity in the air made it seem a bit warm and the moss that she was sitting on wsa quite comfortable, and soon, she was lying asleep, dreaming of how her life might have been....[/i][/color]

[color=blue][i]The battle was over. The warriors had prevented the horde from entering the village, but not without a hefty loss. Many of the best of them were slain. Rayne and the others had begun to bury them on the field where they died so valiantly protecting their loved ones. Among them was Taio's father. Rayne had seen to it that he ws buried properly. How she would tell Taio that he was gone from this world forever was a mystery to her. She could see the sadness on his face and the tears in his eyes.... Just then, a warrior came walking up to Rayne, to make a report of the losses sustained. She recognized him as Fain, and old friend of her's.[/i] [b]Fain:[/b] We have taken heavy losses, Rayne. More than half our number lie here, dead or dying. [b]Rayne:[/b] Yes...I know....Taio's father among them.... [b]Fain:[/b] Oh...How are you going to tell him? [b]Rayne:[/b] That is beyond me, my friend. I know how the boy looked up to him.... [b]Fain:[/b] And with good reason. He was a great warrior. One of the best. [b]Rayne:[/b] Yes... But with war comes loss, and with loss, sadness. That's how it works. We need to go back to the village, and tell the families of their losses. Gather the men and take roll. All who are not present will be assumed dead. [b]Fain:[/b] Right. [i]After the men were gathered and all the damage assessed, a total of 31 men were lost in the fray. The survivors trudged home, sullen and with tears in their eyes from losing dear friends. Rayne lead them, also with sadness, for she knew what she must do upon her return, and she hated having to do so with every fiber of her being. [center]***[/center] Rayne had told Taio what had happened. As she expected, there were tears and agonized screams, and she understood his pain. Loss at any time and of anyone is a hard burden to bear. But she was surprised that he recovered fairly quickly. He left her hut in no hurry to tell his mother of the news, and she knew it was a front. He would cry harder than he ever had when he returned home. She wanted to stay and comfort him as well, because, even though she was young enough to be his sister, she felt sort of like a mother to him in a way, and, unbeknownst to her, he felt the same way. But, she couldn't. Rayne had decided to go to the Light World after the battle. She heard that there were smiths that made fine weapons that might be able to help her, so she decided to seek them out and query about she might buy some of their items. She would leave Fain in charge and take her leave the next morning. Her tribe had come so far ever since Rayne had liberated them all from the tyranny of the demons who had brought her to the Dark World four years ago.... She was trying to remember their faces....her family's faces. It had been so long. She could remember certain things, like parties they had thrown and special occasions, but not anyone's faces. It saddened her to no end, but she could not let her saddness overtake her. She had responsibilites to take care of. She had people who depended on her now, and she wouldn't let them down. She was the Cheiftain of her tribe and the teacher of the warriors that protected the village from the monsters that frequently attacked them. As it happened, she needed to go and gather the trainees for their next lesson. [/i] [b]Rayne:[/b] Oh, boy. We're still working on archery....I'd better tell everyone to take cover for awhile.... [i]Rayne got up and walked to the door of her little hut. Opening the door, she saw one of the village children running towards her. It was Taio, a young trainee who was also a Runner who scouted out the terrain to warn the village of monster attacks. Rayne saw great promise in him. The look on his face, however, startled her.[/i] [b]Taio:[/b] Rayne!! Rayne!! A front of monsters is heading for the village!! [b]Rayne:[/b] What?! [i]Rayne knew that there was a horde camped a ways away from the village, but didn't think that they would move, as they had been decimated the last time they attacked the village. Obviously, she'd been wrong. She thought fast, with Taio looking on, urgently awaiting her orders. She eventually thought up a plan.[/i] [b]Rayne:[/b] Taio, go and gather the best archers we have. Wake old Sima, my teacher, and tell him to ring the warning bell. Tell everyone you meet on the way to get inside, except the warriors. Tell them to come here to my hut and bring their weapons. Go! Now! [i]Taio ran off at top speed, shouting out the warning. Rayne dashed into her hut, gathering her sword and shield. If this was going to be anything like the last fight, it wasn't giong to be pretty....[/i][/color]

She seemed quite unreasonable at the time and obviously had to be approached delicately. That's when the girl was brought kicking and screaming into the hut.[/i] Fyion: You all let me go right now, or I swear you'll pay for this!! Guard: Quiet, you! You're lucky we didn't shoot you down with all the destruction and commotion you caused! Fyion: [size=1]Like you could.....[/size] Guard: What was that?! Fyion: I said "Like you could." Guard: Why you little.... Elder: Stop this! Fyion, why did you do this? Fyion: I dunno...I was bored. [i]Chirimi and Mikia who had been listening to Fyion ever since she came in fell over at this statement, as did the Elder.[/i] Elder: Well, why didn't you just go for a walk?!? Fyion: Walks are even more boring....Archery is better. Mikia: Did you have to use the village as a target? [i]Fyion looked over at Mikia with a curious look on her face. She acted as if she'd never seen Mikia and Chirimi in the hut when she came it.[/i] Fyion: Who are you to question me, human? Mikia: Someone who bets that the people in this village didn't like being viewed as walking targets. Fyion: I never hit any of them! Only grazed..... Mikia: Grazed, hit, whatever. The fact remains. Fyion: I guess....But who are you anyway? Mikia: My name is Mikia, and this is Chirimi. Chirimi: We're here to ask you if you're willing to help us in a matter that may require your expertise.... [color=blue][i]Mikia and Chirimi were still cotinuing to walk through the dark Foxarian Forest with Faro guiding them. Mikia looked quite apprehensive about the whole ordeal. The woods that surrounded them were dark. Great trees with leafy green canopies blocked all the sunlight that could possibly enter, making seeing difficult. Faro had made Chirimi grab hold of his tail and Chirimi took Mikia's hand so they could keep together. Bird calls that seemed to come from everywhere at once didn't help Mikia's fear any, either. Some of them she'd never heard before and they were quite odd. Mikia had the bow on her back as Chirimi had shown her how to put it on before they entered the dark part of the forest, which struck him as odd, but the fact was, Mikia hadn't told him she didn't know archery. She took this time to tell him so, because the awkward silence finally got to her.[/i] Mikia: Uh...Chirimi? Chirimi: Yes, Mikia? Mikia: I did tell you that I don't know how to use this thing, right? Chirimi: What thing? Mikia: This bow. I've never shot one off in my life. [i]Chirimi's grip on her hand loosened slightly as the dissappointed shock set in from what she just said.[/i] Chirimi: Why didn't you say something before? Mikia: I don't know! All that stuff with that Elf person.....Elsyan, or whatever, and then Faro came and we left really fast. I didn't have time to. Chirimi: *sigh* I guess I will have to show you whe we get to Faro's village. Faro: I'd be more than happy to show the lady the finer points of archery. Mikia: You would do that? Faro: Of course. Anything for a pretty girl like yourself. [i]A look that was sort of shock and embarrassment came to Mikia's face.[/i] Mikia: *thinking* [i]Did he just hit on me? He's not even the same species that I am![/i] Faro: We're nearing the village. You'll want to watch what you say and to whom you say it. The entire village is on edge. Chirimi: From Dairaiko's forces? Faro: That....and the fact that one of our young women has taken her archery too far and used the entire village as target practice. She's shot two of our elders. Well, not really shot. Only grazed. Chirimi: She sounds like a handful. Faro: Yes. She came from one of the other tribes, but she won't say which one. This isn't the first time she's done this either. None of the men can catch her, though. She's too fast. Whoever gave her training knew what they were doing. Chirimi: Hmm.....That sounds interesting.... Mikia: *whispering* Are you thinking what I'm thinking, Chirimi? Chirimi: *whispering* If you're thinking that we just found our next Warrior, then yeah.[/color]
